I've worked next to this place for four years and avoided it, places that serve Japanese, Chinese, Thai and a mix of other cuisine often hit low. I was pleasantly surprised, sesame chicken was pretty good, miso was good. The lo mein was cooked nice but turned out to be spaghetti noodles cooked lo mein fashion. Only one waiter while the place was pretty busy, probably maintained 30 diners while we were there and my soda never ran dry. For the Riverton area, I thought this place was pretty decent. I do think the prices do seem a bit high for this area as well, but I felt like they served good food that seemed fresher and better prepared than your typical Asian restaurant, in the area. I thought the service was fine. The sweet and sour soup was decent. My mu-shu pork had way too many onions, but the flavor in general was good. I will go back at some point. I ordered food from Fortune Cookie last night because my favorite Chinese Restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. The food was as hot as it could be when being delivered in 20 degree weather. My Cantonese noodle dish didn't have much flavor. It really needed some white or brown sauce. I did enjoy the egg drop soup. I threw it all in the garbage. Looks like a standard strip mall Chinese joint. I usually skip these kind of places, especially if they are some sort of hybrid place (this one is Chinese & Japanese), but we are hard up for restaurants in the area so I finally gave it a shot. Not glad I did. When trying a new Chinese place, I usually get General Tso's. It's a basic dish, hard to screw it up. Well, theirs was screwed up. It came out and chicken tasted bad, like old, not fresh. We sent it back and were gracious about it. It came out again. They clearly remade the dish from scratch, but strangely, again the chicken tasted bad, like Old Sock Chicken or Left in the Car Overnight Chicken instead of General Tso's Chicken. So, obviously I'm not going back. How this place continues to survive is beyond me. A truly good Chinese place would clean up in this area. Also, the prices are too high for the quality of food, unless it was stellar. I'm used to better food for less in SLC, an issue with many Riverton/Herriman area restaurants. read more

I have visited this restaurant numerous times for sushi rolls. Every time I question why I do that! It's because there isn't anything else anywhere near us, and I just want sushi! The sushi is just okay. Tonight I called in an order and picked it up 5 min. after the requested time. I actually stood right in front of the desk, while the servers physically leaned around me and asked the people behind me if they could be helped. This happened FOUR times! I waited it out - very curious if I'd become invisible, and wondering if I was, could I simply go pick up my order and walk out without anyone seeing me. When I finally made eye contact with one server, she seemed confused. I spoke first and pointed to my take out order and told her it was mine. She didn't believe me! I repeated it two more times, and then, just to be sure she looked up my phone number. But the clincher is the price. Tonight my takeout order was: Hawaiian roll $13.99 (8 pieces), and the vegas roll was 10.99 (10 piece). With my 20% coupon it was just under $25. My 12 yr old son and I shared it, then went to the kitchen and got more food. So if money is not important, and you don't mind being invisible, try it out! read more

I live nearby and have eaten at Fortune Cookie a few times. When I'm disappointed with a restaurant's food, I'm usually willing to give a restaurant a few shots to redeem itself. Unfortunately, Fortune Cookie has fallen short with every chance I've given them. I've been thoroughly disappointed by both their traditional Asian cuisine and their sushi rolls. For instance, I once ordered an overpriced teriyaki chicken lunch special that included only chicken (no rice) with a small amount of watery sauce and tasted stale. On a different occasion, I ordered both a California roll and a Tuna roll from their sushi menu...both were nearly inedible and ended up in the trash. If you're looking for Asian food or sushi in the Riverton area then you should definitely pass on the overpriced, subpar food of Fortune Cookie. read more

I'm from Southern California so I know so pretty darn good sushi places. We currently live in St. George and there is a big fat zero on sushi there. So we thought we'd try this place out while in town, the menu prices were expensive but then we noticed all sushi was 50% off. I definitely would say it wouldn't of been worth it if it wasn't half off. They didn't have any riceless rolls, and I couldn't find any rolls that had unagi on the top only in the middle (which means very little unagi). The miso soup was terrible, I've made better from the store bought packets from wal mart... the salmon was sticky and not very cold and one of our rolls were DRENCHED in sauce and just completely fell apart, overall not too impressed read more

I just moved here from So Cal. Ordered sweet n sour chicken and crab tempura. The crab was so bad I had to spit it out and my Lab Retriever wouldn't eat it. I'll admit it. I walked in expecting another crappy Utah Chinese restaurant. What I found was Asian food as good as anything I've had in Utah. The food tasted fresh, and the sauces were heavily flavored by, what could only have come, from carefully constructed reductions. Sick! Sick, sick! Horrible food. Horrible service. Horrible experience! I ordered the Vegas roll, my absolute favorite and I asked for the spicy mayo on the side because my kids won't eat anything spicy. I also asked for a side of eel sauce because I love dipping in it. Anyway- the roll was the most bland and tasteless thing I have Ever eaten. Like soggy bland tofu, but even more gross because I love tofu. Lol So I ate one piece of the whole roll. When the waiter Finally brought out check (whole other story) because I had to ask him for it, I mentioned to him that I really didn't enjoy the Vegas roll and obviously didn't eat it, since the whole thing was sitting right in front of him. I was hoping for a discount or replacement (which I would have asked for earlier if he came to my table even Once to check on me...) and he said he had to ask the manager/owner/whatever. She told him they couldn't do anything about it because I got the spicy mayo on the side. Are you kidding me?!? I still dipped it in the spicy mayo and the eel sauce- Nothing could salvage that piece of garbage! So I tried to calmly explain that to the waiter and he asked one more time, and the manager refused to take it off my check and blamed me. Such horrible customer service. I was so upset and felt soooo incredibly uncomfortable, I basically felt like crying. Then there was the service....... Our waiter took forever to take our order. I don't remember what my roll was called, but I know that it had inari in it, and I had them wrap it in soy paper. The roll was okay, but nothing that would keep me up at night drooling over it. For my next visit, I just wanted dessert (basically all that I ever want). I ordered the mini donuts, and they were pretty good. The menu said they came with 10, but they gave me about 30!
