The park has nice trail, and you can decide whether you want to make it easy or difficult. The small stream beside the hiking trail is mostly dry at this time, so you actually can walk down to the bank of this little stream and sit on their many rocks. There are several people are playing with their remote control vehicle and make the toy car to climb the rock or hill or go down the hill, it is quite interesting to watch. When we get out of the hiking trail, there happen to be a show going on, so it is quite interesting to watch. Overall, i had a good visit there.

A solid community park. It is spread out across form various veteran's services. Unlike many other parks in the area, this park has a multitude of tennis courts. Even on weekday evenings these courts can be hugely popular. There are a mix of paved and nature trails. Nature trails are relatively well maintained. Paved trails are the sidewalks around and through the park. There are several geocaches in the area. Covered shelters are available. There is a sign up about them having to be reserved Spring - Summer. Summer is a great time to catch free shows/concerts at the amphitheater. The Northern Kentucky Orchestra is know to preform as part of a free summer series. Make sure to bring your own chairs/blankets. A couple of playgrounds are on the grounds. One is located off /near the tennis area. Another playground is closer to the tower. Both are in good working order. There are bathrooms located next to the playground across from the tower.

    The tower!

This park is often full of families enjoying the playground or one of the many free concerts in the amphitheater. The park is clean and parking is ample. I have most experience running and walking the trails. I have yet to fully explore all the trails but have enjoyed the many hills and twists through the tall trees. The three covered picnic areas are fine for lunch or dinner eating. You can reserve them for a full day from $25-75 depending on the day. I think they have grills but don't quote me on that. I have not played on the tennis courts (6 of them) but have seen plenty of people using them. A sand volleyball court is available too. There are two basketball courts. The tower was built on the military reservation of Fort Thomas in 1890 and stands 102 feet tall. I am almost positive that there is no way to legally get to the top unless you are really connected. The abandoned houses that Cindy mentions are a bit of an eyesore and a prime example of the slowness of the government. You see, they are on the National Historic Register and cannot be torn down even though they are in need of serious repair and could be sold for major $$$. The houses were formerly for the Army and have all kinds of government red tape attached. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2014/08/29/fort-thomas-military-houses-developer/14824891/

Located at the site of the Fort Thomas Stone Water Tower, this area encompasses over 85 acres of land and has a huge playground area, ball fields, sheltered picnic areas, tennis courts, an amphitheater, restrooms and more. The park area is nicely landscaped and contains walking and biking trails. There are also basketball and sand volleyball courts. To use one of the shelters, you must make reservations through the Ft. Thomas recreation department.

My two hiking friends and myself visited Tower Park recently because I found it on some hiking websites. We were pleased to find plenty of paved areas (for strollers) and a playground for our kiddos. We originally came for the hiking, but wanted to explore all of the paved roads first since our Hike It Baby group has many parents that require strollers for their little ones. So we didn't get too far on the trails, but at least got a view of the Ohio River before heading back to the cars to feed our babes. We all agreed to visit again soon to do trails only!

This includes the trash left behind by visitors. We found whole pockets of trash. There were some areas where it looked like groups had sat, had a few beers, then left. There was also broken glass in the parking lot. It looked to be window glass, so we did not stay long. Even if we wanted to, other that to look out at the high water levels, there was not much reason to stay long. All the trails were flood for the most part. We would start on a trail only to be stopped by tick mud. The water level was so high that a small walking bridge that is part of a trail could be seen far out from the water's edge. There was a small roundabout with benches. This looks to be/have been a flower garden. It was not blooming during our visit. The only thing that was in bloom were some flowering trees along one of the trails. Most of the other visitors we observed were using the preserve's parking lot as a starting point for the Little Miami River bike trail. They parked closer to the street, then zipped off.

Magrish is dog friendly though, much to our furry cohort's delight! This is a great little park right along the Little Miami River. There isn't much in the way of amenities as far as picnic areas, restrooms, etc. but there are beautiful views of the River and some very cool trails. It also is adjacent to one of the bike paths along Kellogg which served as a nice way to extend our hike for the day. We did the majority of the trails through the park and then took a turnoff on the trail on the right just past the overlook leading down to the river. While the growth along the trail made me wish I had been wearing pants, this was SO worth it. If you follow it all the way to the end, there's a great view. (see photo!) This definitely deems to be a popular teenager hangout, and there's the leftover mass of trash to prove it, which is the only reason I gave this four instead of five stars.

There are a couple picnic shelters, a Frisbee Golf Course, a baseball field (that is home to the Highland Hills team,) playground, trails, Gaga ball pit and a dog park. Currently the bathroom facilities are closed. The park was clean. There were many trash cans along the paved route. My children love Gaga ball, and were delighted to see a Gaga ball pit here. Unfortunately, the morning rains ment over an inch of standing water in the pit. If you are coming here for Gaga make sure it has been dry for a couple of days, and that you bring your own ball. Towards the back of the park is a dog park. That area seemed fairly busy. It was hard to see from where we were how large of an area it truly is.

This is not meant to be offensive, but I feel it needs to be said . To many dog owners are afraid to speak up, as they don't want to sound rude, neither do I. I truly empathize that you may not be able to get a sitter to take your dog to the park. If you can't then PLEASE just don't bring small loud screaming toddlers, babies and strollers into a dog park area full of dogs!!!! I honestly find this extremely irresponsible on ALL parents that do this. This not only puts your kids in danger, but the dogs as well. There are too many things that could go wrong!!! Did you know that, there are a TON of dogs that get along just fine with other dogs, but are scared of small kids!! Do you know what a dog "could" do if they are scared and want a person or thing to stay away from them?? Some dogs may just run away, other dogs will growl, bark and snip at what they feel is a predator. You are putting way to much trust in other peoples dogs!!! You are literally putting your kids and these dogs at risk when you do this!!! When you walk into that dog park, any responsible dog owner, especially owners of large dogs, are going to immediately have to remove their dog. Have you ever paid attention to the people that leave when you come in with your kids? Or the ones that decide not to come in and turn around? When we have to leave, that cuts their dogs play and exercise time out and now they don't get it but yours will!!! If I had to guess, there are probably only 1 dog park to every 10, 0000 children's parks!!!!!! There is NO reason that you should be invading what small part of this world they get to have of their own!!!! Take your kids and dog to the regular Park k cuz they are only a FEW DOG" parks out there!! I understand that it's hard when you have small kids and a dog. Please just be more responsible and considerate of others. Especially, if you are a family with 2 adults and small kids coming into a dog park, like really ‍. There is no reason all of you need to be in there. I get your kids want to play with their dog, but they can do that at home. Or take them to a separate area, like they have at a couple locations in the area. Its just not fair to other peoples dogs. I work a lot, and I take my dogs daily to the park. I am usually only have a small amount of time to let my dogs run and get to play, It angers me so much when I have to cut that time in half because someone brings kids in the park and I don't want to chance anything with my dogs. Anything could happen!! Think about these possible scenarios: * Mom and dad bring in their 2 dogs, a baby in a stroller, they also have 2 very small and loud kids running around screaming and playing. Their 2 dogs are going to protect these kids cuz it's their nature. Someone' else's dog decided to come up and sniff the kid, or baby in the stroller. That dogs gets excited and jumps on one of the kids , which scares him and he starts to scream and cry. Their screaming and crying makes that dog think they are playing and jumps on them more. Next thing you know, that kids dog attacks the dog that jumped the toddler, thinking he was hurting him. That kid is smack in the middle of a vicious dog fight. Do you think he could get seriously hurt? Of course he could!! *Another example: There a ton of dogs that are "herd" dogs, like Australian Shepherd's. When they see small kids running around, their instinct tells them they need to get them in line and herd them. When a herding dog herds, they will nip the legs of whatever they are herding. I know because my granddaughter got bit by one doing exactly that. She was running around being loud and crazy. So that dog was doing the job it was breed to do. Was it this dogs fault ? The owners fault? Neither!!! , because that is their nature and because they are animals. As much as we want them to be human, they don't think like humans! Well sometimes they do, I don't believe their are any mean dogs in this world. I believe there are mean people who teach their dog to be mean, or that abuse their animals and they fear a human because of it and will protect themselves just like we would!! Again, I am not trying to offend anyone, it's my hope that you will read this and by doing so, it can help save a kid and a dog from one of the million possible things that could go wrong when bringing small kids into a dog park!! If they park is empty, by all means!! I IMPLORE you, please leave the DOG PARKS for the DOGS ONLY!!! I hope this opens some parents eyes! please keep the kids at home when taking your dog to a dog park, for everyone's sake!!
