Downstream of Cincinnati, this is a much quieter park than anything in the city. It has two road entrances; the one closer to the city was closed with no explanation, but the second one was open. The park had a paved walkway by the river with playground and picnic spaces as well as some kind of hut that could be booked for a party. There were some decent views to what looked like pastoral land across the river. The river itself was not particularly clean. The park also houses a more rustic trail which goes down by the riverside and through some woodsy areas filled with birdsong. The river isn't great, but the park as a whole has plenty to offer. read more

Nice park beside Ohio river, has paved road you can walk around the park, there are hiking trails you can take, but i didn't. We are here in late October, the park is beautiful with all the leaves color change. Several bath rooms inside park, lots of trash can, very convenient for me since I'm constantly blow my nose with cold. read more

This isn't the most flashy of the Cincinnati-area parks, but Fernbank has some major pluses: + 2-way jogging path to keep the 6-ft of distance + plenty of parking + unpretentious parkgoers (no one trying to Instagram live-stream their workout) + nice river views Fernbank is a surprisingly close distance to downtown - a straight shot down river road. Continuing our carry out date night during this time. This is a nice kinda long stretch park that has some nice views of the river. It also has some really nice walking paths with some spots you can reserve for a small family outing. Was pretty busy so good for people and dog watching!! Good signs to tell you where it is along river road. If your are familiar with Cabana on the river it it close to that. So do go and enjoy this nice park. read more

Another park in the Great Parks of Hamilton County system. Fernbank runs along the Ohio River. There is both a paved and non paved trail. The Sycamore Nature Trail offeres lots of shade. That coupled with a length of only one mile, makes It is a good trail for when one wants to go hiking in the summer. Bank fishing on the Ohio River is permitted. A couple picnic shelters are available. There is a play structure. Since our last visit I read that there was damage to the structure from flood waters, and the structure is closed. I'm not sure if the structure has yet to be reopened. Fernbank is one of their smaller parks. One word of caution, if using Google Maps, you may be directed to the old (closed) entrance. Several visits over several years, and each time this happens. Not the park's fault, but I wanted to put it out there so others know to expect it. When I am about a half mile away I start looking for the signs from the park, and follow those. read more

Fernbank Park is one of the best parks on the West Side of Cincinnati. Fernbank features a paved walking trail, a hiking trail, lots of (free!) parking, and some nice wide-open fields. The shelters and lodge are also very nice, although you will want to reserve beforehand to guarantee a place for your event. Nothing beats the view of the river early in the morning or late in the evening just in time for sunrise or sunset, respectively. I will say the fields used to not be kept so well, but I think they were attended to a little more last summer. The playground looks clean and fun, although I am not young enough nor do I have any kids to confirm this hands-on - hah! As for the rest of the park, I think it's very clean. Some areas get a little muddy, but hey - it's a park! Nature will do these things. Whether you're looking for a quick walk or an all-day picnic, Fernbank Park is a great area! read more

I have only visited this park twice, both when leading hikes with Hike It Baby Cincinnati. The paved trails are great for strollers and the nature trail is something a jogging stroller can handle, but keep an eye out for roots! I didn't find since we went at a leisurely pace and love a wooded trail anyhow. Always wear shades or a hat because a majority of the paved trail is in the sun or you may have the sun in your eyes depending on the time of day. Families appreciate a playground at the end of any walk with the kiddos and Fernbank has a great one. The only thing it's missing is swings! My 7-month old cannot appreciate the rest of the equipment yet so I usually end up leaving so he doesn't get jealous. read more

A friend of mine from the gym is a runner. She recently asked me if I'd ever been to Fernbank Park, and I had to admit I had not even heard of it. I am not a runner, but she said a trip there was worth it either way, and I think she was spot on. This park is off of 50 and like many urban destinations, is right off a busy road, but is also bounded by the Ohio River. The Ohio River might not be the most appealing body of water, but it's nice to appreciate it every so often. In other places I've lived, the river is often prime real estate, and the lack of this orientation in Cincinnati always boggled me. I understand the history of the river as transport and the location of industry, but even in that climate, Fernbank manages to really embrace the river locale. It rivals the development downtown for me with informative signs about flora and fauna you might encounter, there is a great playground, picnic shelters, a decently long paved trail, a shorter wild trail, and a lot of people to smile at and watch along the way. I look forward to heading back to Fernbank- to walk, watch barges, look for birds and wildlife, or whatever strikes my fancy. Yeah for a west side park on the river! read more

I have spent many an evening strolling around Fernbank. It is pretty, running right along the river. There is a nice walking loop and a short nature trail. Both are pretty flat There are a variety of picnic shelters that are being used more and more (I guess more people are finding out about this place). I personally prefer Mitchell Memorial Forest nearby because I love walking through the woods, but I walk here often because it is still a natural setting. read more

We recently rented one of the shelters for a family event and it was amazing. Great views lots of room and everything was very clean and tidy. The park itself is so well-kept and the kids playground guarantees your little ones will be tired after a couple hours. This is a great place for walking your dog or even just riding bikes. read more

I feel slightly embarrassed that I have been driving miles to find a decent park when Fernbank was just a couple of minutes from my house, right on the river, and absolutely amazing! But after 5 years at least I found it! I have kids that love toys (okay I love them too, who doesn't love to swing and jump off), and boy oh boy, do they have toys! I've monkeyed barred with my kids, gone down the slides too many times to count, and even discovered a lot of new toys that were not around when I was a kid. They have a playground for your tots and a play ground for the bigger kids, so if you have toddlers, they will not be getting trampled on. Then they have beautiful, well maintained paths and trails for walking, running, and walking your dog. You can cross bridges, go through tunnels, and wind your way through streams and big leafy trees. Guaranteed any sunny day, even in winter, there will be plenty of folks taking advantage of their trails. They also have huge fields perfect for frisbee, football, tag, you name it. Plenty of cabanas and picnic tables and although it is a Hamilton County Park, no parking pass needed!! Also, just a bonus, walk across the bridge and down a bit and you are at Cabanas on the River! Note: When it rains a lot, the park does get flooded in certain areas and they will not let you park in the parking lot, as it is covered with water, but you can park next door and walk over to the dry spots. read more

Aside from occasional flooding, this is the nicest park I know of on the West side. The play area is large, so my son has a blast. There are walking paths, and usually many people walking their dogs. I haven't encountered any weirdos or creepers here yet... So for now this is a great place to visit! read more

A few miles of scenic driving west on River Road, Fernbank Park is one of the best in the city. Well maintained and beautiful, this collaboration between Cincinnati and Hamilton County Parks boasts river views, a paved walking trail, a hiking trail, a large, modern playground (that's fenced in), public restrooms, vending machines, ample fields and parking lots, and several picnic areas with and without grills, including those that can be reserved. It's even got a little history along the paved trail, which details our Ohio River lock system. This park really is a great place to relax, play, or take a walk. It's smaller than some of the other Hamilton County parks, but it's got a lot of features and comes across as quite spacious and relaxed. We've hiked the wooden trail over a dozen times, and it's a great way to feel away from the city. It's relatively flat and easy compared to other trails in the parks system. In addition, my kids love watching barges float down the river and planes skirt over the opposing hilltop towards CVG, almost as much as they love the playground. Oh, and even though Hamilton County Parks have a hand here, no parking pass is needed! read more

The only thing about living in Price Hill that didn't feel like jail was living near this park. I loved walking here and the people here are pretty friendly. It's really nice to walk along the river and I recommend taking a walk here. Also, there are a lot of squirrels. Yetta really liked barking up all the trees. read more

I had my wedding reception at the lodge at Fernbank Park. During the week, it's only $275. The lodge was really clean, beautiful tile floors, nice bathrooms and huge ceilings. It looks newer than a lot of the other park lodges. They had a large video screen where we showed a slideshow of our wedding. Kids were able to run down to the playground. There was a beautiful view of the Ohio River. Best of all, they had air conditioning which saved my July wedding. I think we would have died without it. read more

Super nice park on the river. Plenty of paved walking trails. Plenty of places to ride your bike. Nice jungle gym for the kids.

If you are on the Westside and need a place to run Fernbank is my number one choice. The park is nestled behind train tracks along the river and if you did not know it was there you would miss it every time. The park was renovated a couple years ago and is now fantastic there are places to fish, hike and a 2 mile paved trail. shelters can be found through out the park which you can rent and one patio/hall that often holds weddings. read more

the park is great itself, but the people who go there are assholes. I've literally wanted to bash faces in more than a few times for threats and general hysteria I've come across. If you have a dog especially stay away. you cant even let it swim in the river without some busy body threatening to have you arrested and your dog euthenized. read more

I have been going to Fernbank Park for many years and love it. I'm about 5 miles away so it doesn't take long to get there. I told a co-worker from Hebron Ky about it and he checked it out.
