PLEASE READ BEFORE CONSIDERING THIS BUSINESS FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY! They gave two groomsmen the wrong colored tie and ruined our wedding photos that we spent thousands of dollars on. The standard of work between the Aurora and Orland stores is pathetic. The groomsmen who got their suits just knew a tie was present, they had no idea it was the wrong colored tie. We didn't figure out they were wrong until the groomsmen were getting ready and my husband asked one of the guys if he brought his own tie... They clearly didn't care enough to check the suits thoroughly which they are literally paid to do.... Prior to the wrong colored ties we were already upset we had to make a second trip the day before our wedding to pick up our suit orders that needed to be fixed due to pants with holes in the pocket, stains on multiple white shirts (including the grooms) and one order sent without the vest... So multiple people in the party had make extra trips to the stores the two days before our wedding because nothing was right the first time. All they offered in return for their HUGE mistake was half the money back for the two suits they mismatched the ties.... And the lady saying "she wanted to cry for me". At this point we should have all our money back for the lack of attention and effort put into their business when this is such an important day for their paying customers. Moral of the story this business did not make our wedding day any less stressful than it already was and if anything gave us more problems and stress. Also, looking at this picture literally breaks my heart considering all of the time, effort and money that was put in this day ruined by their carelessness. Update: now they are using our photo I provided in this review as their main picture. Such a disrespect to a customer they completely let down. This is the type of business they are running. We were very impressed with the level or service from FMT! The even called us periodically to alert as to which groomsmen hadn't turned in their sizes. We also loved that my husband was able to keep his tie as a keepsake from the wedding! All of the tuxedos fit our groomsmen, dads and ring bearer to allow for a flawless wedding. My son decided a week before Prom that he is attending. I have never rented a tux so I did not know where to go. Having lived by Foxvalley mall for so many tears I remembered this place was here. We walked in and there were quite a few people there but we got greeted right away. One of the employees took the time to explain the renting process, the different types of tuxedos and took my sons measurements. We were told that we would get an email as soon as the tux was in for a fitting. I got the email a day before they told me to expect it, so that was great. The day we went in for the fitting was busier than the last time. Even with it being busy we still got great attention. Returning the tux was also very easy. Every single employee we encountered was very friendly, nice, professional and very knowledgable. They made my first renting of a tux very easy. I'm not familiar with how renting places work and I'm not sure if I was over priced but I have to say that based on their customer service I would use them and recommend them again. read more

This place is absolutely fabulous! My fiance and I began our search for tuxedos and were disappointed in the large chain store, so we made our way to Formally Modern Tuxedo since we received a flyer from them. Their service is amazing, finding a PERFECT color match to my bridesmaids dresses (which of course, were not an easy color to match). My fiance LOVED the selection of tuxedos and said they were incredibly comfortable as well. My fiance also received Blackhawks cuff links for free for his purchase with our wedding party. (they had many different sport selections). On top of their great selection of tuxedos, they also give a 50% discount on wedding invitations ordered through the books at their store. When you show up at 7:30 on a Friday night not knowing a place closes at 7:00 the first thing you think is RATS! However, if that place is Formally Tuxedo in Aurora Illinois the second thing you would think is WHAT NICE AND HELPFUL STAFF!. They smiled and told us to come on in, they would help is even though they were already closed. As a small business owner, I can tell you this kind of customer service is not easy to provide. Terrible experience when trying to get my deposit back on a tuxedo I no longer needed. The crazy manager tried to keep my money when the receipt clearly has their rental agreement printed on it. We have been working with Formally Modern Tuxedo in Aurora for our wedding tuxedo and invitation needs. I was blown away by the amazing level of professionalism that they had. They have measured my fiance twice just to make sure his size didn't change over the holidays. We will have my fiance and the three groomsmen wearing tuxedos from FMT. We also purchased our wedding invitations, rsvps and envelopes from FMT. Since we rented the tuxedos from FMT, we received 50% off of them, which made the invitations through them very inexpensive. We were looking for a silver sparkly invite that was somewhat simple. When I explained to Kelly what I was looking for, she called the other store that she works at to find the invitation number. She saved us from looking through dozens of books. My fiance had no interest in picking out the invites, so when Kelly saved us all that time, she won both his and my appreciation. When our invites came in, they were amazing. I absolutely love them. Additionally, since we are having all the guys in our wedding party renting tuxes through FMT, they gave us so many other perks for going through them. They gave us discounts from going to a Bridal Expo and dinner/movie tickets. When we were walking out from our first meeting with them, we felt like they were practically paying us to rent our tuxedos through them. I can't wait to see my fiance in his tuxedo. Getting measured was easy and we were able to find a style that was right for us. I as the groom was able to try the tuxedo on ahead of time to make everything was good to go. With my height, arm length and size I require a lot of work to get a rented tux or suit to fit. It's a lot easier to get a perfect fit custom made. With that in mind I usually just settle in situations where I'm renting but the ladies here where extremely cooperative and patient with me. Made orders for me twice within a few days and did alterations both times to make sure I was satisfied and I had the right fit. Never once made me feel as if I was an inconvenience or being picky. You would think they were fitting a top prospect for a draft lol. Truly appreciate them and recommend this location to anyone!!! read more

After visiting several formal wear rental stores and being very discouraged by their attitudes and sales techniques, we happened upon Formally Modern Tuxedo and could not have been more pleased. Janice and Tom were knowledgeable, helpful, courteous and very professional. Their patience, understanding and suggestions regarding invitations, tuxedo styles and colors that were right for our event (not what everyone else was currently copying) were outstanding. We had a nice experience with Formally Modern Tuxedo in Aurora for our September 2011 wedding at the Westin in Lombard. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and we found a slim cut, contemporary tux that looked great on my husband and all the men in our bridal party. Any alterations needed were completed the day the guys picked up their tuxes while they waited in the shop, which was quick, easy and convenient for everyone! The only downside was that they did not have any rental ties or ties for purchase that matched my fuchsia bridesmaid dresses, but we were able to find some at the mall across the parking lot that matched perfectly. We also purchased our wedding invitations, response cards, and thank you cards from Formally Modern Tuxedo, which we absolutely loved (especially with the 50% discount promotion that was going on!). The price was excellent, we received them promptly, and everything turned out just like we wanted - we got a lot of compliments on the invitations!
