I decided to try this place after being frustrated about the prices and selection of some of the bigger stores. It was a fluke, I just google mapped the closest bridal store and this was it - and thank God it was! It is a small store but the selection is very good. I tried on probably 5 or 6 dresses and found the ONE! The owners of the store were extremely friendly and were honest about how each dress looked on me. I couldn't purchase that day because I wanted my Mom and Dad to see me in it and they were not pushy about that at all! I came back a few days later and my parents loved it! I decided to add a sash and some bling to my dress and the owners showed me how we could do that - they were very knowledgeable about the process. It came in on time a few months later, I went with one of their recommended seamstresses and she did a perfect job as well! read more

Heidi was my consultant and she was amazing, she helped me find dresses that had all my "wants". I tried on several dresses and my top 3 again, I didn't feel rushed or pushed to buy any dresses. After my first appointment, I went back with my mom and tried on my top three again. It was there that I said yes to the dress!!! I came here certain I was not going to buy a dress, frustrated with the whole process, and not having a single clue what I was looking for. If you have read my previous bridal shop reviews, you know I have not had a good experience shopping for a wedding dress. White Satin, more specifically Emily, changed my entire experience. I scheduled an appointment a few weeks in advance. I got there a few minutes before my appointment, checked in with someone, and looked around while I waited for my stepmom. The main floor of the store is spacious and has all of the gowns together. The walls are lined with dresses and there is a center display of dresses. They were in size order to give you a better feel of what you were looking at but in a comforting manner. Here is what I really liked about White Satin - Emily asked me what kind of dress I was looking for. I didn't know but I knew what things I didn't want. She took that information and started digging through the gowns to show them to me. She pulled ones that I would have just glanced at and poo-pooed. We ended up with about 10 to try on. I picked out the order in which we tried them on. I mostly did it from the ones I thought were not going to look good to the ones I was most excited about. My thought process was get the ugly/not my style ones out of the way so I could be truly blown away later! WSB has a nice area to try gowns on. It is setback from the show floor and cannot be seen until you walk all the way into the store. There is fairly good lighting and about 3-4 dressing rooms. I was able to try on every gown and get a good view of them. I ended up setting aside the two I really liked to try on after in order to make a decision. I only ended up trying one of those 2 dresses on and knew it was THE dress. I did, however, appreciate that they didn't mind me FaceTiming my mom before saying it was definitely the one. Sorry but if mom said it looked stupid I don't think I could buy it. I didn't try on any "headpieces" but those aren't really my style. WSB had a really simple payment - 50% down and the other 50% when I come in for my first fitting. The whole experience was incredibly easy and enjoyable. I ended up at White Satin after leaving another dress shop appointment loving the top of one dress and the bottom of another. I called on a whim on a Friday afternoon, and Dawn not only squeezed us in last minute but somehow found a dress that encompassed all the parts of the other dresses that I loved! I had the "say yes to the dress" moment I've been looking forward to since I was a little girl and thought I couldn't love my dress anymore until I saw how reasonably priced it was! White Satin Bridal was the first place I tried on dresses and I couldn't have asked for a better start. Dawn was my stylist and she made me feel comfortable from the beginning. She was so helpful in getting me in and out of dresses (I don't think any other shop has a better process for this!) and she learned my style so quickly. She would add veils, skirts to make the bottom more full, etc. all to help me with my vision. I found 2 dresses that were really special but they just weren't quite "the one." However, I would still recommend this place to ANYONE. Dawn never made me feel pressured, which was one of my biggest worries prior to shopping. I had a great experience at White Satin Bridal. It was the first store I tried dresses on at and ended up purchasing one of those dresses after going to countless other stores to try other dresses on. I found a lower price on the dress and White Satin was more than willing to price match. We had so much fun at the store and even ended up gifting a bottle of champagne to the woman assisting us. My dress came in super early and they had no issues holding onto it until alterations, which I did with one of their seamstresses. My dress fit perfectly after alterations. The first reason I am going with 4 stars is that my bustle would not stay in place. Eventually, I just picked my dress on so I could stay on the dance floor. Second reason, I was told I could order my bridesmaids dresses through the store, even with customizations, when I placed my order for my wedding dress. That was perfect because it would save my bridesmaids 15%. When it came down to it, White Satin could not actually place the order due to the customizations to the dresses (fabric change), so we placed the order through the manufacturer. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend White Satin to other brides! read more

Although White Satin doesn't have the largest selection of wedding or bridesmaids dresses, I did like the atmosphere here. The consultant asked me what kind of dress I wanted and helped me locate dresses. They also were super nice and stayed with me throughout my entire time there. I found the selection to be reasonably priced (all three dresses I tried on were under $1,000) and I even ended up purchasing my dress here! I only give them three stars because the store is very small and the selection is meager. Skip it. Very small store. Each person in the store has to battle for the one stage and one mirror to show off your dress to your guests. I was battling with 2 other brides and a mother of the groom that was in for a fitting. Not cool. Limited selection. And I think I tried on every dress in the store. The consultants kept bringing me dresses and telling me they wanted to see me in each one. I felt forced to put on dresses that weren't even remotely close to the style I wanted. I went to White Satin in search of my wedding dress. I haven't bought one yet, so this review is strictly based on the "trying on" experience. And a great experience it was! I went with my mom on a Friday afternoon. We were the only ones in the store and Robin, one of the owners, helped me. She was SO friendly and made me feel very comfortable. She was honest without being rude or blunt about the way certain dresses looked. She was never pushy and I never felt pressured to buy a dress that day. In fact, Robin encouraged me to go home and think about it. Her advice was that the dress that you keep thinking about is likely the dress for you. Not a huge selection, but there were plenty of dresses to try on. I liked that I was able to go through the racks and pick out what I liked, while Robin pulled some dresses as well. read more

Triple D'- Disgusted, Deceptive and Disappointed. Three words that describe my experience with this place. I thought I would give this place a try as it is local. Stupid me. I should have known right away the type of place this was when on my first visit to the store, I was walked past several times by 2 women, one being the owner, and the other being a saleswoman for about 20 minutes before either asked if I needed help. I was patient because i figured they were busy helping other people. Wrong!! I was the only person in the store. Red flags should have gone up then, but I let it go. I found a dress that I fell in love with and I purchased it for my sons wedding. I found out on Friday evenig that I need to have an unexpected medical procedure 3 weeks before the wedding. Today is Tuesday, as they are closed on Mondays. I took the dress back to either return it, or find a dress that had a lower neckline. I explained the situation to the sales lady, and immediately she said no returns. The sales lady took the dress into the back to the owner, came out again, and said "the owner said no". I asked to speak to the owner to once again explaine my situation. The owner comes out from the back and immediately she began to come up with stories of how people are# always trying to rip them off by returning dresses.and how weddings are always cancelled, and how people lie. Clearly the dress had not been worn, nor had it been altered. I asked why she would refuse the return of the dress and she says well I probably won't be able to sell it" OK, WHAT???? GET OUTTA HERE! You goat roped me into buying the dress, telling me the dress was new, but had no tags, and I took their word for it.The owner then says, we'll where are the tags? I said I was told that the dress was in fact new, but the tads had been remoned. Now this really brings their integrity into focus. It really is a beautiful dress, but it will not work with the incision I will have on my chest, so why wouldn't someone else buy it? She kept saying over and over how people try to rip them off, how people lie all the time, yadda, yadda, yadda. She kept repeating herself so much that I asked her if she would like proof of the procedure. It is very evident that I have already had open heart surgery, as the scar is quite visible, . Basically, what it came down to was that she was saying I was trying to rip her off. So what, now everyone that brings a dress back into the shop is a con artist??? So again, I said there is no reason why you can't resell this dress. It's a beautiful dress, and returning it was not even an issue until I was told that my chest would be opened back up 3 weeks before my sons wedding. Well, then she says, and I quote "we aren't Macys or Nordstroms", and I sharply replied it's too bad because if I would have known the type of business you run, and the lack of customer care you DON'T provide, I would have gladly gone to Macys or Nordstroms for a dress to not deal with this because they would have at least tried to help with my situation She, the owner. bends down, picks up the bottom of the dress, and wraps it back in the dress sleeve. I'm thinking great, maybe this broad has some decency and will atleast give me store credit if she wouldn't return it.....wait for it...wait for it people.....then the broad says, ok, I can do it for a $50 restocking fee. Are you kidding me? A restocking fee of $50 to hang it on the next rack? Oh, but wait, now you want $50 to put a dress back on the rack that you said you couldn't sell again? Better brush up on your sales skills because if you can't sell a brand new dress that is absolutely beautiful, then you have problems. Talk about adding insult to injury.! I may not even be able to attend the wedding because of possible blood clotting issues due to having to be on a plane for so long. Yep, this is what I get for wanting to keep my money local. It's local alright. .Local right in her pockets. I am now left with a dress that I can't wear and that was sold under deceptive terms as at no time was I told that I couldn't return the dress. It's shocking that this place treats customers in such a manor. If you are going to run a small shop in a small town, it's essential to provide the best customer experience, yet this place has demonstrated that once the dress is out the door, it's your problem. I would NOT recommend White Satin Bridal to anyone EVER. I don't care if they are giving things away, I will never step foot into this joint again, where calling customers liars and thieves is an excuse to provide poor customer service and keeping my money. I had told a friend of mine to pop into White Satin Bridal because they actually had the exact wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses in the store that she was looking at. I live in downtown Chicago, but tried out White Satin Bridal since it was close to my office in the suburbs. I just love this store! Robin and Sarah are the owners, and they are just so great to work with. I had my first appointment with Robin and went on my own. We tried on a ton of dresses, then I found one that I sort of liked. My mom lives out of town, so she let me take a picture in the gown to send to her. Unheard of! My mom and sister came out a couple of weeks later, and we set up a two hour appointment there. We decided that maybe my original choice wasn't THE dress, but after a bad experience somewhere else, I just really wanted to see if I could find a dress there, because I would feel good about spending my money there. We had a two hour appointment with Sarah, who was just as nice and friendly as Robin. And they have a great selection of dresses. I think that everything I saw was under $2000. And I ended up finding a great dress there for under $1000. I'm so excited to be able to wear it on my wedding day! Sarah also paid attention to the bridesmaids dresses we were liking and not liking. Finally, she brought out a dress that was just perfect. So, we took care of my gown as well as the bridesmaids dresses there. I will wait to see what happens with my dress coming in, alterations, etc. before upgrading to 5 stars. But overall, this was definitely my favorite place to shop. If you're looking for a moderately priced dress, and want great service, this is definitely worth the drive from Chicago. read more

I visited the store twice, a few years ago, in the early stages of planning my wedding. Both the ladies (who I believe are the owners, or were at the time) were very phony. You expect that to a certain degree, of course, as they ARE trying to sell something.... but the way they oooooh'd and aaaaaah'd over so many gowns I tried on was transparent and laughable. However, the real reason I have a problem with this store is because I have concerns over their business practices. There was a certain gown there which I'd seen online and in bridal magazines and thus I knew who the designer was, or rather, should be. Yet, there was no label or tag in the dress and when I mentioned "oh this is the so-and-so gown I've seen everywhere", the lady got a funny look on her face and replied no, they don't carry that designer. I asked who the designer was, and she told me something about it being a private label. That made me curious, so I asked to see more silk dresses (which are mostly only offered by very expensive designers as almost all wedding gowns like Maggie Sottero or David's or Mori Lee are actually SYNTHETIC) and she showed me to a display rack of very lovely gowns which were mostly missing any kind of label or tag identifying who made it. There were a few that did have labels, but when I googled those names later there was absolutely no information, none, so they either don't exist or they are extremely small local dressmakers as the saleslady/owner claimed. All of these gowns were either identical or extremely similar to big-name designers' lines. In my opinion, this store either is/was selling designer gowns without officially carrying them, or these were excellent knock-offs. In any case, under the Textile Act, it is illegal to remove a label containing manufacturer, fiber content or country-of-origin information without substituting another label with the required information. read more

Buying a wedding dress can be extremely daunting and stressful, but Robin and her staff made it such an easy and breezy process. The staff were all very patient, they made me very comfortable, and they made finding my dress and bridesmaids dresses so fun and exciting! All I had to do was explain the look I was going for, and they brought numerous beautiful dresses for me to try on. I was in love with multiple dresses, which in my opinion is not a huge problem to have! Working with a bridal store is a lot more than buying a dress! Not only did White Satin help me find my dream dress, but they helped me plan my 14 bridesmaid dresses (yes I said 14) and groomsmen outfits! They helped me with every detail, and were very flexible to let me call or come in whenever I needed help with something! I was sent here to get my Bridesmaid dress for a Wedding. I made my appointment and went in. When it came time to order my dress, the sales person recommended a Size Larger than I needed. Since the dresses run small, that would put me in the Plus Size and would have to pay even more. The only measurement that didn't fit with in the size was the waist which when i was measured, she pulled it tight. I was already tender in the waist area since I have having my gallbladder removed the following week. She did not listen to me as to which size i wanted for my dress. Ended up ordering the larger size. When it came time to pick up my dress, I walked in and was greeted by a sales lady with blonde hair. She was not very nice. Asked if I wanted to try the dress on. Once the dress was on, I asked for assistance with the hook and eye at the top. She then proceeded to tell me that the dress was large and i needed alterations. I knew that ordering that size. I told her about how when I was measured that they pushed up the size because of the waist measurement. I told her that I had surgery a week after the fitting and knew i would be fine in the smaller size. She jumped right to the conclusion that my surgery was for weight loss. I said no and told her gallbladder and told how unhappy that I was that the person who measured me was not listen to what i had to say. I changed and hung the dress back up, then walked out. She asked me if I was going to leave the dress for alterations. I said no, and they were going to be done for free. I need to have 4 inches taken out of the top of my dress. I thought I was the only one that was treated like this. Almost all of the bridesmaids were treated rudely from this place. When you are paying over 225.00 for a dress you would think people would be nicer to you. I was not happy with the customer service of this place and would not recommend this place to anyone. If you want to feel like you have to buy a huge dress that will need alterations then this place if for you. read more

I was extremely disappointed with the staff here. They treated us terrible. We got a total of 6 dresses from here and 5 out of the 6 were all the wrong sizes. When we went to see if their mistake could be corrected they scammed us completly. To "help me", all they did was give me a seamstress' phone number who charged outrages prices instead of them changing the dresses to the correct sizes. My dress was 5 sizes too big and instead of trying to help me, they belittled me and we're extremly rude. Do not waste you're time at this place. I went to about 5 other bridal stores and tried on over 20 dresses before coming to WSB and finding "the one"! They have a decent selection and the prices are very very reasonable. My bridesmaids dresses are from here too. All the ladies who work here are very friendly and helpful. I usually made all my appointments in the middle of the week and when they first opened so I never had a problem battling for the mirror or getting some one on one attention. I can't remember who did my alterations but she did a pretty good job. My only complaint was that my bustle didn't look exactly like the picture I showed her and one of the bustles broke during the reception. My stylist, Alana, was so patient as I rejected dress after dress. Then she selected a dress that I had skipped over while shopping. It was MY dress. Since then I've returned with other friends to make sure I was making the right choice (I was). DO NOT GO HERE. Had a gala to attend and needed a dress. Stopped in on a Saturday and found a couple of dresses I liked. A salesperson asked if I'd been helped yet and I said no. Then another woman came up to me and unbelievably they asked me to leave!!! Evidently this place is appointment only. No walk in customers allowed. They should honestly post a sign that says so. Rather than make potential customers feel like trash. Don't bother stopping in and subject yourself to the same treatment. You will just be turned away. I will never ever give this place my time or business again. When I saw the bridal gown that I wanted I searched high and low to find a store that sold this specific gown. When I discovered that White Satin had this dress I was thrilled. I called them to make an appointment and no one returned my phone call. I called another few times and no one answered the phone. After that I tried one more time and I was able to get a hold of someone. They informed me that they would not be getting their new collection until a few weeks and will call me when the dress came in. So I patiently waited and received no phone calls from them. At this point in time I said that because of their poor customer service and lack of competency, I would purchase my dress and accessories some where else. It is just plain poor service, when you cannot return a customers phone call. It is too bad for them because they missed out on at least a 5 thousand dollar purchase (if you include my dress, all of my bridesmaids dresses, shoes, accessories and other wedding essentials. Oh well next time maybe they will be more considerate to their customers. I would not give them any stars But I had to in order to move on, simply because they did not have the courtesy to return any of the calls I made, or inform me when the dress I wanted to look at was available. I flew in from out of town to visit my aunt and we went to several bridal shops in the area. I found a dress I liked and the salesperson told me that she could order it in white or ivory so that it could be used as a wedding dress. 'Perfect,' I thought. A few months later, my aunt goes to pick up the dress and calls me, concerned - "Did you order this color?" and texted me a photo of the dress. Unfortunately she didn't catch me and so accepted the dress from them against her better judgment. They told her that they had sent me a swatch of fabric ahead of time (untrue) and that I had signed off on the color of the dress (also untrue). Well, long story short -- my wedding dress was YELLOW. I ordered an ivory dress but the dress came in and it was a buttercream yellow. What's worse, the shop has absolutely refused to accept responsibility for this. They will not refund my money, even though I ordered and paid for an ivory dress and I ended up with a yellow one. They continue to insist that I ordered a yellow dress when of course I did not. They do not answer their emails in a timely fashion and they are very unorganized (one example: they emailed me that my dress hadn't come in yet when actually my aunt had already picked it up -- they hadn't actually CHECKED to see if the dress had come in). While I was trying to work all this out with White Satin, I went online and ordered a dress custom made in China (www.joyinthebox.com) and it came very quickly, was less expensive than the one I bought at the store, it was made to my measurements, and glory be, it was the RIGHT COLOR. If you are a bride, even if you don't order your dress online, you can still do a lot better than White Satin Bridal. read more

Love it. After going to davids bridal and being shown things I said I wasn't interested in, one of my bridesmaids said we should try to look here. She, along with a few other girls we know, found there wedding dress here. Walked in for our appt and was greeted by Sarah who is an absolute doll and was great to work with. I explained what I wanted and tried on a few dress and with on one hour found the one I wanted. Sarah was very honest in what looked good and what didn't, but this definitely is a great place to check out, A little higher in price then davids bridal but the quality of the dress is great... I happened to be there when they were having a nice sale and was able to buy the sample which was in great condition for half the price.. I'm a bridesmaid in an upcoming wedding and was told to call in my measurements for my dress that the bride picked out. I gave my measurements, and due to my hips being larger (typically a size 4 whereas I can get away with size 2 if hips don't matter) they insisted I needed a size 8 dress. I wasn't surprised when the dress arrived with a waist too loose and bust comically too large for me. The style of the dress meant that alterations would be quite expensive to get it to fit properly. So after paying $235 discounted price for a dress too large I had to pay an extra $55 to a wonderful, unaffiliated seamstress who gave me a great deal for the work she had to do. Sadly, I am not the only bridesmaid in this party to have this experience. Additionally the color originally picked for the dresses was discontinued within the few short months of all of this happening. I would recommend trying on the dresses before ordering, if possible (I live out of state), and stand your ground if they try to order you the wrong size, or go somewhere else. read more
