Absolutely amazing! Needed a place for dinner as I was traveling alone and this location was highly rated and their menu caught my attention. Well it was definitely worth the drive over. I started with the fried green tomato appetizer which was by far the best part of my meal which is saying something considering I wanted to lick my plate clean after ever serving. The pimento cheese paired with the fried green tomato over a pepper jelly slaw was the perfect combination. Add in the forked margarita with a little bit of kick I could stay in there all day! For my meal I had the shrimp and grits "our way" and I have to say their way was the only way I want to have shrimp and grits from now on. Considering I am a southern belle born and raised that is high praise. Alright on to dessert which was a chocolate crepe cake. There are about 20 layers of crepes stacked together and served with a milky raspberry glaze. I did in fact use my fork to scrap every last morsel of this dessert off the plate. Really good and interesting food. Great service and ambiance. They serve yeast rolls and black sesame seed rolls before the meal. They were delicious. I had the Dorito encrusted bacon BLT. Very tasty and abundant. read more

We had a delicious dinner. The crab bisque was fantastic. I also really enjoyed the hot honey fried chicken, it was so good. The gnocchi was so delicious, it was a lot too for an appetizer. Hoping I find myself back in Orange so I can go back. read more

We happened upon this place at 5:30 pm, after a meandering return from a UVA game, having not eaten since 10 am. We were ready to compromise and ended up having one of the tastiest meals of our lives. We heard mention of a bread basket being delivered and thought we would have no interest but devoured everything, all of which was baked on site and hot from the oven. The interpretation of shrimp and grits was wonderfully balanced and we were especially glad of the bread so that the sauce from the gnocchi could be wiped dry. Beef short ribs were perfect but required more potatoes from this Irish potatophile. We will be back - we only could to try four items without drawing too much attention!! read more

We came from Fredericksburg to try forked on main. Nice, comfortable atmosphere, good prices, very good service and excellent food. We shared the risotto and shrimp appetizers and each had the crab soup. Wish I didn't have to share! The only downside is I went back a week later to buy something in the store also owned by the owners. I picked up risotto to go, but was disappointed it wasn't the same mushroom risotto. Upon further investigation, they have the mushroom risotto at random times. I will time my next trip in March and try and coincide it with the risotto. read more

I had lunch here on a Saturday early afternoon, I think it was the first week of July 2018. I'm late in writing this review. I think the restaurant had just opened for the day when I went in. I was the only customer for a while. I had eaten here before, but it was a different restaurant. I was looking for that other restaurant when I went it and didn't know it changed. Yesterday, I fortunate enough to meet the owner of this restaurant in her gift store down the street. What an amazing person. Smart, caring, knowledge, and very helpful in her store. Back to Forked. Everything from the décor; to the service; to the food; to the bar was a ten to me on a scale of a five. I was served the best salad I've ever had in my life before my meal. (I wish they posted their recipes online, or sold them for a small fee). The bread was out of this world, and I had Fettuccini Alfredo that was ALL hand made including the fettuccine. It was a great experience and set a very nice tone for me to go pick up my dog's framed certificate of cremation. I had exceptional everything here. If you like fine dinning, I highly recommend this restaurant. PS. My server told me about the store down the street. She told me the décor came from there, so that's how I ended up meeting the owner. read more

Found this little gem by accident and it was terrific. We had a party of 7, celebrating our daughter's birthday. The shrimp and grits were delicious (contrary to the other review), the pasta of the day had a wonderful sauce, and the rest of our meals all delicious. All of the desserts were scrumptious. First time here. Started with crab bisque soup. Did not taste like crab and there was no crab in the soup. To top it off the soup was served lukewarm. I had Shrimp and Grits "their way". It was awful. There were barely any grits and they were not very good. It was served on a bed of spinach and covered with corn kernels. The shrimp was deep fried and over cooked.. Won't be ordering that again. My wife had the beef on knot bread with dipping juice. This was very tasty. Another thing was our server was the hostess, waiter and busboy. These multiple tasks showed during our service. Everything was out of sync. Not a great start but they just opened so hopefully they will improve. read more

This is of of the best meals we've had in a while! We loved the decor and I can't say enough good things about the staff-they worked as a team and all were 110% professional and friendly. Everything was delicious: drinks, bread, appetizer (huge portion), and both of our dinners. I was stuffed but had to get dessert as I knew it would be just as incredible. Everything was homemade to the ketchup. (well maybe not the butter may). I got the fish and chips and my husband got the shrimp and grits. We can't wait to try other things on the menu. *They sell their homemade bread which we were told was different every day. read more

Went with my family based on the rave reviews. My kids food (personal pizza each) and my wife's (Sheppard's pie) was horrid. The pizza wasn't pizza, it was a piece of naan bread, with a little shredded cheese thrown on top with some steak strips. No sauce whatsoever. Basically cheese toast with a few strips of steak. When my kids kept complaining about it, I took a taste. It tasted the way I'd imagine oven cleaner tastes, based off the smell when I've used oven cleaner. My wife's Sheppard's pie looked like a bowl of vomit when it was served. It was extremely oily, with hints of minced meat. No hint of potatoes unless it dissolved into to grease. Couldn't believe the server actually served it. Wish I got a picture of it. Definitely not Sheppard's pie. Was way too greasy to be edible. My food on the other hand was decent as far as taste goes, but way over priced. I don't remember the name, but it was basically and open faced steak sandwich. There were 5 one inch strips of steak on a 2 inch thick piece of toast. read more

I really wanted to love this restaurant, but the food just wouldn't let me. This was our first visit and it looks really nice - crisp modern decor, comfortable seating, nice lighting. The staff is friendly and attentive and the menu offers a nice selection of starters, entrees and deserts. Unfortunately, execution of the dishes was disappointing. We ordered crab bisque, fried green tomato with mozzarella, and shrimp & grits. The crab bisque was thin, with very little crab but an abundance of dill weed. The fried green tomato appeared to be pre-breaded and deep-fried. The shrimp on the shrimp & grits were small, and also seemed pre-breaded and deep-fried (although there were plenty of them). The grits were good, but were covered by corn. As I said earlier, I really wanted to love Forked and maybe we just picked the wrong things to order, but we probably won't be back. I do hope our experience was untypical, because a town can't have too many nice restaurants. read more

We went for dinner about 2 weeks after opening to celebrate a birthday. The crab bisque was delicious! They were kind enough to make our grandson the Mac and Scratch-Fried Chicken from the lunch menu--a huge hit! We really enjoyed the fish tacos. A good experience and we look forward to going back. Was hopeful to have a better dining option in Orange, but sadly, this was as disappointing as the rest. At first glance the menu seemed reasonable and the decor and renovations in the restaurant were nice. We were meeting another couple for dinner and had a drink at the bar before dinner. We mentioned this to the hostess who seemed extremely confused that we would have a drink at the bar before before being seated at a table. Service was good and wine was delicious. We were seated at a table in the bar area and waited on by the bartender, who only had one patron at the bar but several tables in the bar area to attend to. We had to wait for a table to be cleared to be seated which took at least half an hour. We had all been staring at menus the time we spent waiting so ordered immediately. For a Saturday night, the restaurant was not at all crowded and when the food arrived an hour later, the portion sizes were laughable. Everything tasted great, but do not expect to be full after eating an entree. The couple we met texted a picture that they had stopped for more food on the way home from dinner. Had high hopes for this, but extremely disappointed with service and portion size. read more
