We chose some wrappers for an appetizers--these were egg roll-ish rolled up things, and were pretty darn tasty! I like them quite a lot. For my entree, I chose the breaded tenderloin. It was thicker than most tenderloins I've had, and could've used a bit of tenderizing. It actually was more of a breaded pork chop than a breaded tenderloin. Certainly not a bad sandwich, but it didn't knock my socks off. Fries were fine, again, not stellar, but fine. All in all, a positive experience. Fork and Ale is a great place for craft beer and food in the heart of downtown Carmel. Our group came here on the brew and barrels trail and this was our second stop on the trail. I tried the hopping hounds IPA which was very good. Other people enjoyed the beer and someone ordered the cheese curds which I understand is excellent! This was my first time here, and unfortunately I did not get the chance to stay long enough to try any food, but hopefully the next time I come here, I will order from the menu to try their food. We did receive excellent service from the wait staff! I can see this establishment being successful and surviving the covid-19 crisis. Fork&Ale has never disappointed, I have been there about 8 times and I plan on going back! From the service to the food and yes the drinks - they really do know what they are doing! My friend and I had no reservations and we walked right in and were sat immediately - we went on a Wednesday around 7 PM. But other times that I have gone, I have also gotten seated fairly quickly and have had great service! The service here is always great, I want to point out one bartender and a waitress who are great: David and Emily (from last night). The experience with David was great and he was very engaging and we had a great conversation and even better service, he is also very knowledgeable about the drink menu and bartending in general. Emily was great and extremely attentive to our needs. She never once let our drinks be empty and she was able to provide great menu suggestions. Thank you both! The food here is also great - my favorite and go-to appetizer is the Chicken Nachos, which was until last night when I tried the POW-POW Shrimp. These two are definitely tied for my favorite appetizer from here - just depends on my mood! Last night I got the tenderloin and the chipotle aioli was phenomenal - they do have a special batter that they coat the tenderloin in, so it has a different taste than the "normal" tenderloin you may be used to - but it's definitely a must-try! This business is a great example of why it is CRITICAL in this day and age to have a strong website, no matter what business you are in. I am particular about my wine, so we looked on Fork & Ale's website, which said they had Dr. Loosen riesling--yes, score! We get over there, and the waiter had never even heard of it. Sure enough, not only is it not on the menu, but the wines they do have are garbage--not *literally* the cheapest a restaurant can buy, but only a 1/2 step up from there. There was nothing there I would drink. You may think this is a small thing, but they have just assured we would never bother going back here. I see that their other reviews aren't strong either. Listen, you might have the best food in the world, but part of owning a restaurant is being able to manage a business. I doubt their ability to do that successfully. read more

Good location, with an ample parking garage across the street, a playground and outdoor seating in the courtyard out front and Sun King's Carmel brewhouse next door. I liked the food. They have a tremendous selection of different stuff, more than just bar bites, but I had a big lunch and felt like eating light. I had the Smoked Turkey Cobb salad. It was terrific. I would like to go back and eat more adventurously. We did have an appetizer, the Chili Con Queso dip. It was good as well. Great service. We were there more than four hours, drinking and catching up. Our server was very friendly and was more attentive than I would have ever expected, especially as the restaurant filled up with the dinner crowd. Lots of TVs. All tuned to sports channels. So that gives you something to watch. Their beer is meh. They had a special, all their in-house beers were like $2.95 or something like that. We drank a bunch of them, and they were inexpensive. Their beers were ok. Nothing I'd rate lower than 3 stars or as high as 4 stars on Untappd. They also have a number of guest beers you can order, and that was a pretty nice selection, but I didn't see a point in that. I'd already had all of them, and the in-house beers were fine. Also, this being in Carmel, there were quite a few kids there with the dinner crowd. I'm old school, so the idea of bringing kids to a brewpub is pretty unacceptable to me. Location, location, location. What a great spot. It's the perfect place to grab a casual meal on a beautiful day. Their main dining room/bar area has an open air feel, and is connected to their spacious outdoor patio, which is nestled into the Midtown plaza park in Carmel.
