Came here on a whim, first time here Located at Jack London square near Plank There is indoor and outdoor seating Several TV posted up inside the venue Lots of seating available Happy hour is from 3-6 Prices are reasonable Customer service is friendly Food is good Pizza ingredients are fresh There is a full bar and drinks are decent Beer, wine , liquor Parking can be risky due to the current situation the city is dealing with But there is a parking garage near Plank I risked it all and parked on the street Car was ok upon return
Excellent location with a great view. Plenty of parking in the area whether it's street parking or the parking garage located right next door. Service was also great. Very friendly and attentive. A lot of seating inside and a good amount of seating outside however you just have to be aware of when the sun shifts.. you may lose (or gain) some shade with the coverings. Pizza wasn't bad but they could do better with the amount of toppings. I ordered the Forge pizza (no onions on mine). It was good but I barely received any olives or jalapeños on it. Pretty much felt like I was eating a regular pepperoni pizza. Crust could have also been cooked a bit more. So because of that, I'm not sure if I would come again unless I was in the area and craving pizza. Even then.. it would only be for convenience. Also, I ordered the mousse dessert. I wouldn't order it again, but it wasn't bad.
I have good memories of visits to pre-pandemic Forge. This choice spot along the Jack London Square estuary had it all: location (great people watching), outdoor patio with fire pits, great bar & friendly bartenders, and most importantly, amazing pizza thanks to the wood fire oven. Forge had been a weekly stop for me, and the husband and I spent a lot of late summer nights enjoying drinks and eats on that patio and fire pit . After the pandemic shutdown, I refrained from eating out for a while. And then health issues made walking to my neighborhood favorites difficult. It's only been the past month that I've started walking again, so I paid a visit to Forge for the first time since 2019. I had to follow up a few days later with another visit because I was so taken aback by the changes I was seeing that I wanted to ensure it wasn't just "a bad day" on my first visit back. Some of the changes, like closing at 8pm on weeknights, 9pm on weekend, are understandable in this new reality of still recovering restaurants post pandemic as well as the safety and security issues Oakland is dealing with at the moment. Parking in Jack London Square can be risky these days. So I'm not dinging Forge for this. But then there's the food and drinks. On the two recent visits, we ordered the same things. The preparation of each item was quite different each time. The Cauliflower Bites (fried cauliflower that gets the buffalo sauce and ranch dip treatment) was drippy wet with sauce the first time we ordered and had no evidence of being fried. The second time it had a drier, crispier fried appearance and less wet buffalo sauce addition. The wood roasted asparagus was definitely roasted and blackened on our first visit, but damp and just steamed on the second trip. The dressing for the asparagus was on point however both visits. We didn't try the pizza on the first visit, but ordered the truffle French fries. I asked for very light truffle oil on the fries, and they were perfect... super crisp, well salted, and with a dusting of Parmesan. The truffle oil was delicate and did not overpower the potato flavor. On the second visit, we ordered one of our former favorite pizzas: the Fat Boy (sausage, bacon, pickled pepper, red onion, cream, and a runny egg in the center). While the crust was cooked well and the toppings were fine, the dough flavor was just... meh. Forge crusts used to have a pleasant, yeasty flavor that was enhanced by the blisteringly hot wood fire oven. But the crust on our pizza tasted flat. And no brush of garlic oil on the crust edge once out of the oven. Drink wise, I was disappointed that the beer selections appear to be capped at 7% ABV now? I loved the old Forge with 9-10-11% IPAs and stouts on the menu. And my Old Fashioned ordered on my second visit (with Bulleit Bourbon) was cloyingly sweet. As for service, the inconsistency continued. First visit we had a server who seemed over it and wasn't particularly gracious. We got to order only after they finished breaking down the outside wait station in prep for closing in an hour. And no check-ins with us once we were served. The second visit brought service we remembered... attentive, fast, and conversational with us. I love Forge. It's been an anchor for Jack London Square dining. And now that I'm walking again, I want to be more of a patron. I'm just hoping that they can survive considering the economy, their reduced hours, and inconsistencies in service.
Great view from the outdoor seat, although the seats are not very comfortable at the counter that faces the water. Passion fruit lemonade was so refreshing. GOAT pizza- Goat cheese and sausage pizza is an amazing combination that I didn't know I needed. My only complaint is I feel they skimp on the sausage. It was definitely more mushroom than sausage which was disappointing.
Angry shrimp 2.0 $16 Very bland shrimp with no seasonings 4 shrimp (4/10) Fried Brussels $13 Need more seasonings as well, but cooked perfectly as far as char and crunchiness. Nice dipping sauce. Would prefer more Parmesan on top (6/10) Mussels and fries $21 Good portion of mussels. Again needs seasoning and some lemon for acidity, but decent (6/10) Fat boy pizza $24 Pizza was good just wish it had more flavor overall and a bit more of the toppings. Only thing I could distinguish was the sausage and a little on the pickled peppers. Would have loved to have the taste of the red onions and bacon as well to get the full effect Customer service was 8/10 very friendly and attentive. Ambiance was rustic loved the outside fire pits and flat screen TVs on the inside playing the football games. I would recommend this spot and be back to try some more of the menu items!
No matter how many times I come here, I'm never tired of the cheese curds and will always order that first along with my drink. I also found out recently they don't always have the chorizo and corn pizza on their menu, but they did this time around and we ordered one right away. It is my favorite pizza after trying all their other delicious ones. Definitely a salty and somewhat sweet combo if you're into that. We also come here for dinner because they're dog friendly. Sitting outside isn't too cold with a fire pit or their outdoor heaters around and it offers a great and relaxing view of the water. They have water bowls around for your best four legged friend to enjoy as well. Poor simba though is a bigger dog and our seats were a little too close together to our neighbors, where he ended up laying down on their side as well. I'm glad our neighbors were dog friendly and didn't mind at the slightest, but that was the only thing that caused some worry for us as dog owners. If you have a little dog, it doesn't seem to be a problem at all, and if you sit by the fire pit, that's also a great option for a big dog. Seriously though, get their cheese curds, and if you feel like splurging, upgrade your regular fries to truffle fries and you will not care about anything else all night while you enjoy your delicious meal.
I probably should have read the reviews before going in but honestly I just have to echo the sentiments of everyone else. Firstly food, the pizza and beer are great! We got the GOAT pizza and a lager and pale age. They have a big IPA selection and just 1 of other types so if works if you're a big IPA person. Service is TERRIBLE. We came on a pretty empty Saturday, most of the patio was full so we sat at the high chairs which has a great view of the harbor which is their biggest plus! We were in a bit of a rush and while the food came out fast, everything else took FOREVER- waiting for a table to get cleaned to be seated, getting the attention of the wait staff for water, and getting the check. Do not come if you have something after because you'll be here forever. Honestly I feel like this is pretty standard for a restaurant in Jack London, great views, good but overpriced food, but terrible service.
Was in the mood for pizza - stopped in around 7pm on Saturday and 4 of us were able to get seated immediately. It's a nice casual spot to grab a bite and also had a good amount of outdoor seating with fire pits/heat lamps. We ordered the Forge Pepperoni pizza ($19) and the Baby Heirloom pizza ($18). Pizzas were pretty tasty! Love the wood fired taste. The crust was soft, chewy, and nice and thin. For both pizzas I wish the ingredients were slightly more evenly distributed (e.g. for the pepperoni pizza only a couple of slices had jalapeño or red onion) and then there be less crust area and more areas covered with the pizza sauce/toppings. We weren't really hungry, otherwise I would suggest ordering almost one pizza per person based on the size. Washed the za down with a couple of beers and that hit the spot! Despite other reviews on service, I felt like our server was attentive and great. Happy there's a decent pizza spot in the Jack London area!
This may be my favorite spot in Jack London so far! Even though it's a pizza place, the dishes here are on the fancier side and the ambiance is elevated as well. It seems like they are constantly rotating the cocktails on the menu. I tried the Call Me Pear-Fect ($14) made up of tequila, housemade pear purée, elderflower, lime, and brut. You could really taste the purée, which is what I was most interested in. For an appetizer, definitely get the crispy cheese curds ($11) and brussel sprouts ($10). They are super addicting to eat and seasoned well. For pizza, we shared the Fat Boy ($20), which was a flavorful red sauce pizza. It has pretty standard toppings like sausage and bacon, but it was executed well. We also tried the Gold Rush ($26), which has heirloom fingerling potatoes, pancetta, mozzarella, Cowgirl Creamery Mt Tam, fontina, monterey jack, provolone, parmesan, and parsley. This pizza tasted good, but it was a lot more oily and I wish it had something more acidic or contrasting in flavor to cut the flavor from all the cheeses. Overall, I really enjoyed all the dishes from here and would definitely come again when I'm in Jack London!
The food was good . Mixed reviews with my family but overall positive except the wings. Those were dry af . Ooooo the truffle fries were also super enjoyed by the fam. The cauliflower bites stole the show, tho . Overall, it's a cute fancy pizza spot . The only thing was the waiter . He did not make an effort at all to say more than 4 words if that . Not even a hello . The man who brought our food and grated the parm for us was wonderful, tho ! He had a braid ! What a nice guy ! Thank you !
On a week day after labs, I visited my friend's favorite pizza place in Jack London Square. She ordered the Marguerite pizza and I had the special pastrami sandwich with ice tea and roasted asparagus appetizer. The serve was attentive. We had outside table on a sunny warm afternoon. My sandwich was good however since this is a pizza joint maybe I should have ordered a pizza. lol. Sometimes I don't follow my own advice to order something that is their speciality. Nonetheless the sandwich was good, weather was cooperative and company was good.
Forge pizza never fails! Great pizza Neapolitan and the asparagus was roasted to perfection. Fresh & tasty, thank you!
A great option for lunch! Popped by here to meet with some family for lunch. They had a decent lunch menu with good items to choose from. The crab pizza was so good. Overall our service was good and the restaurant was clean and quiet on the inside. We opted to sit indoors vs outside due to the many birds flying around. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

My chicken sandwich was probably the best chicken sandwich I've ever had The End. (the waiter pointed out that no evidence of a sandwich was ever on my plate... yeah, that good). Super cute inside. Very casual spot. Waiters were straight forward, not overly friendly. So if you want to kick back with some really good food then this is your spot. Ordered: Chicken Club, Margherita Pizza, Smoked Wings read more
I had a great night here with friends, enjoying their spectacular happy hour deals, the "forge pb and j" is 18 and includes a margarita pizza, a beer and a shot of Jameson. It's a great deal and the pizza is delicious! Thin, kind of New York style pizzas that are good for sharing between two people with an appetizer or as a meal for one. They also have five dollar well cocktails. Order up during those happy hour deals! read more

*Open for indoor dining, outdoor dining, and takeout* Service and staff: - We've been here twice now and both times have consisted of kind staff members. - We sat at the bar the first time and it was fun seeing all of the movement. We sat at a table the second time in the corner and received the same quick service. Food and drinks: - Forge Pepperoni Pizza: With a slight kick from the jalapeños, this pizza comes with great flavor - Toybox Pizza: This pizza comes with a lot of flavor from the pesto to the salt in the pizza dough / crust, to the fresh tomatoes - Caesar Salad: comes with a good size - can be shared amongst two people - Lemon Asparagus Gnocchi: nice for a cold day and has flavorful. Not for those that don't like lemon. - Margarita: Both the house and prickly pear margaritas were a little strong and flavorful Miscellaneous: - Parking is available via the parking garages within walking distance or via street parking - Bathrooms are gendered (one each) read more
Great place and is one of our go to's in Napa. Pizza and beers??? This is your place. If you happen to get there early enough, before 5pm, get the PBJ!! It's the pizza, beer, and a shot of Jameson. Excellent pairing to take you into the evening. We typically come for the craft beers and delicious pizzas all made carefully by the staff. Oh and the fried cheese balls?!?!? To die for! Overall, great experience, good food, and good times. read more
Honestly really good pizza! My group liked the pesto broccoli pizza (4.5/5 stars), mar pizza (4/5), and Hawaiian pizza (4/5). We tried the wood roasted golden beets (4.5/5) and the shaved brussel sprout salad (4.5/5) too. I'll be back at this restaurant next time I'm in Jack London! read more
Forge has excellent offerings. My go to items are their wings, Mussels and Fries and often times I'll opt for a salad too! I've indulged in their cocktails, which change a little from time to time. My personal favorites have been made with Mezcal. This particular visit was alright. It was a slow weekday evening so we pretty much had the dining room to ourselves. Mussels and Fries came out cold. Bummer. That was our shared Main. Brussel sprouts were just alright, texture was on point tho. Wings are always jumbo, served in 3, tasty and perfect for sharing. The host was friendly and enjoyable, while the server was cold and inattentive. Shame, this used to be one of our favorite date spots. When in Jack London, Forge is worth a try. Hopefully you catch them on a good night. read more
Good wood fired pizza, great location and ambiance. I loved the selection of Oakland and local beers on the menu. The cheese curds are 10/10 my favorite. Light and fluffy, cheese pull, batter is light and not oily. Will be back when the weather gets better. Quite a few tables occupied and the service was friendly and timely. Food came out hot, fresh and flavorful. read more
I haven't been to Forge since the pandemic, and was hopeful that it was as good as before, and it certainly was! We ordered: *Chicken wings - I liked that these came as a full on wing, though my friend prefers when it comes as separated drums and flats. Regardless, they were yummy. *Cheese curds - I loved these and how airy they were *Pepperoni pizza - pretty good I'm a fan of this place, and on a warm-ish night, sitting outside and enjoying a fire pit or just the outdoor air is nice, with good food and drinks! read more
My husband and I have been here a few times and lately we have been trying things other than just the pizza! I've been here before and had ok experiences but the last one was horrible. The server did not tend to us for quite some time, we finally ordered our appetizers and said we would order drinks shortly. After she took our appetizer order she never came back. Never. We waited and waited, no server and no appetizers. We eventually left having not received nor consumed anything at all. The previous experiences were ok, food was ok too. That's why I'm leaving an extra star. Parking in area is easy, there is garage parking and some street parking too. They do have outside seating near fire pits and heaters. read more
I have been to Forge Pizza a few times before and their Neapolitan style pizzas have yet to disappoint! I caught up with some buddies, after decades, and we dined out on their ample patio seating. It was a lovely sunny early afternoon on a cool winter's day. We started with the much reviewed-about cheesecurd fries, and calabrian honey chicken wings. The fresh stretchy cheesecurd in the light crunchy seasons batter was excellent. We all loved it! However, the calabrian honey wings did not live up to my expectations. The wings were huge and juicy, but the sauce was merely just unevenly coated on the outside. Some of the better wings I've had were marinated in the sauce with the flavours seeping deep inside. We shared a couple of pizzas -- the Margherita, and the pepperoni. The crust was delicious with good leopard spots, and puffy. The Margherita is usually my benchmark and it was delicious. It's no Tony's, and I think Delfinas and Del Popolo does it better. But it was delicious nonetheless and I can't deny that. The pepperoni pizza was a great 'chaser' to the Margherita with its bold flavours. I read somewhere that the pepperoni is house made. The little kick added by the pickled pepperoncini to the mild heat of the pepperoni was a great match. The service was friendly and prompt. We might have stayed a little longer than the recommended 2 hours, but were never rushed by the staff. All in all, it was a great lunch shared in great company. read more
I ordered the Cowboy burger with truffle fries! Medium Well. There was not enough sauce and when i requested for more sauce it came when i was finished with my meal. The truffle fries were a bit too much which is a good thing! Also crunchy! There was a nice view with a fireplace, and the riverside with boats! There are a bunch of outside tables which is nice for big groups, and couples. This was a nice dinner for a group of 9 people. I'd definitely come back for the vibes but maybe not for the same meal! read more

Went out on Sunday to Jack London Square in Oakland CA. to one of our favorite pizza restaurants on the water to eat. The food is delicious the service is excellent and the views of the water are excellent. We had a great waiter who was professional, fun and very helpful. The mussels with the truffle fries is our favorite dish. You get just enough to feel satisfied. If you want a very relaxing day with some good food try The forge restaurant. Their pizza is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. read more

Love the vibe in here with the string of lights in the center as you walk in. I bet it's looks better at night when it's lit. First time here, at Forge Pizza, located at Jack London Square. Haven't been here in awhile. We ordered the Amina's Cauliflower Bites topped with Buffalo wings sauce and a side of ranch...loved how it was crispy and not too too spicy that you can't taste the food. Also ordered a hamburger and the fried chicken sandwich. Last but not least we got the Angel hair pasta with prawns. The pasta was heavenly, it was topped with Sun dried tomatoes and Parmesan cheese! The price of the sandwiches are a bit pricey in my opinion. But, it is a huge sandwich. The service was fast and friendly. My cup was never empty. read more

Lovely space with amazing pizzas, they're all good but the GOAT is my favorite now. Good specialty cocktails and the outside patio view is the best so peaceful. There is a parking garage very close and/or valet parking available again Highly recommend read more
If you are craving chewy thin crust Neapolitan style pizza with just a little bit of burnt edges - this is your spot in Jack London Square! I always get a margarita just as a baseline and it did not disappoint. Rolled the dice and tried the fat boy and it was absolutely amazing. I thought maybe there would be too many toppings but everything is better with bacon right? The brussels were charred and had sliced almonds which gave it such a nice crunch. The cheese curds were exactly what you would expect, deep fried deliciousness with marinara dipping sauce. I ordered Cabernet and the waitress put it down and said here's your Alabama slammer. I have never had one but either I should try it, or that's just what she was craving at the moment... either way it was hilarious and we had good laugh! I appreciate friendly service and this restaurant definitely has great service! Beautiful views of the boats on a very nice night with a lovely breeze. Highly recommend making a reservation. There was a long wait at 7:30 pm on a Friday and we were seated right away. Parking is very tough. Either you have the parking karma or have to pay at the garage or Valet. Pro tip - the restaurant validates some of the parking fee. read more

The food and view here?! GREAT. The service? Just okay -- but I'll let it slide since we went there during a busy weekend. Came here with a large party for dinner after a whole day out during Fleet Week, so it's understandable that the place would be busy. When we ordered we found the pizza to be hot and fresh. The Fat Boy was my favorite, especially since it had a little kick to it compared to other pizzas our table ordered. I enjoyed the outdoor seating because it gave some energy to me being (fortunately) next to the heater. The place is spacious and the food is good -- I would say it makes a good place for nights with good company! read more

I went to Forge Pizza for Memorial Day dinner with my boyfriend. We had truffle fries, buffalo chicken wings, and cauliflower pizza. The truffle fries were delicious and not too salty. The buffalo chicken wings were tasteful and fully coated with buffalo sauce. The cauliflower pizza looked delicious; however there was more crust than pizza so if you don't like pizza crust, I wouldn't recommend the cauliflower pizza. There was more crust than pizza. As for the server, we had Monica and she was AMAZING! It was so busy yet she cheerful with us, frequently checked up on us, refilled our waters, and asked if we needed anything more. So good. I ordered the GOAT plus feta cheese. It was their version of the all white pizza. Perfect mix of garlic + mushroom. Rob was the best waiter. He remembered all 7 of our orders & separated all of our orders without asking. read more
Convenient location with lots of patio seating with shade. Large fire-pit seating area. We only ordered Cobb salad, mixed greens, and the truffle fries. It was fresh and well executed. Everyone other table ordered at least one pizza. Fire roasted pizza with a bit of charr looked great. Staff was very nice and attentive. Very casual place. Not bar dive vibe. There were tables with kids. Nice view of the boats. Pleasant way to enjoy the nice weather. Restaurant can accommodate large parties of 15+ easily. Lots of Picnic tables. Some bar tables. I remembered they use to have sections that can be reserved for parties. Seats indoor or outdoor. read more
My friends and I came here after celebrating Juneteenth at Lake Merritt and this place did not disappoint. Okay, so even though one of us called ahead and was told there would be a 30 min wait time, another person in our group was able to walk up and request a table for us instantly. Interesting, we all thought. Okay now for the good stuff... the food! We ordered the fried cheese curds. These Wisconsin cheese fried curds were amazing!!!! If you haven't tried it, it's a must order for sure. And it's served with marinara sauce. We ate all of them and still had pizza coming. Two of us shared the margarita pizza and the skrimpz pizza. The margarita pizza was ok. Nothing fancy. There's better margarita pizza's around but it's not nasty at all. Just lacked a little razzle dazzle. But the skrimpz pizza.... OMG! They did that! I was skeptical at first but that pizza is hella flavorful & a little spicy but not too bad for me as I love spicy foods and the shrimp was complimentary and didn't over consume the pizza. I'm definitely getting that every time I come here! Overall we had a blast! and I will be back for sure to snag some more of that skrimpz pizza and fried cheese curds. read more
