3.5 stars now vs 5 stars 5+ years ago Delicious pizza spot, and great service, thought this review is long overdue! Sliver is a chain pizza spot originally starting in Berkeley after Cheese Board and they expanded over the last decade. Most locations are in Berkeley, one in Oakland and one on the South Bay. They used to allow customers to pick their own sauces with containers but have cut costs over the years (3 tiny containers given now) vs free large container given with a purchase of one pizza etc, so they are becoming more and more like a typical pizza place vs a speciality.

How do you even stay in business with employees who don't care, talking amongst themselves with no regard to us standing in line in an EMPTY restaurant, while only serving one pizza of the day and one salad of the day? Mediocre at best, the day's flavor was potato and corn barely heated up as I just stood there and waited as they chitchatted. When my coworker said they didn't care...I agreed. For the price, lack of options, and meh flavors I'm super shocked this place is in business. Must be the to go orders keeping this place afloat.

This location offers all of the pizzas of the week, so you can choose from the selection of their assorted pizzas rather than default to the pizza of the day. We loved the corn pizza #2 with the green sauce at the bar - perfect zesty slice that comes out fresh and hot. It's a one woman show here with a very kind server. It's a casual spot to grab a bite.

sliver is a classic! two slices with a sliver slice is the perfect meal. love their red and green sauces too. wish this location had a bathroom for customers - or even just an available sink to wash your hands. but the food is good!

Friday PIZZA OF THE DAY

It's been awhile since I visited Sliver Oakland, Broadway. This location did not disappoint with friendly, welcoming service, delicious pizza combinations, fresh seasonal salads, addictive green sauce and a clean, relaxing space for dine in. Monday special: corn, Roma tomatoes, feta, mozzarella, cilantro and garlic butter...simple with a thin crust along with a self service sauce bar of their green sauce of cilantro, jalapeno, garlic adds a nice freshness with a slight kick. The red sauce has a bit more heat that slowly creeps up on you. Overall, nice change from the usual pizza spots offering daily vegetarian specials. I'm definitely a fan and Sliver Pizza is always in my rotation. Located in the Safeway, Pet Food Express shopping center with plenty of lot parking. Outdoor seating available for you and your pup.

Always a fan of Sliver from my when I tools some BCC classes. Glad to see they've expanded! This location is great in a shopping center. A lot of the parking spots in front of the restaurant are compact size. Plenty of seating inside and some outside. They have a few TVs that take up a whole wall. We were on a time crunch so we ordered on their website while we were on the way! Today's pizza of the day had sweet potatoes. Pizza was fresh, crispy, and tasty like always! Their green sauce is a must on the pizza! Give this place a try for a slice+sliver! Overall 4.25/5 stars!

Half pizza corn and cilantro (minus one slice I already ate lol)

I've been coming to Sliver since 2015 and it's still one of my favorite spots. It's technically pizza but really it's more like amazing cheese bread with creative gourmet toppings. The folks who started Sliver came from the Cheese Board Collective in Berkeley and created their own company, and they've done an incredible job. You can check which pizzas each location is serving for the entire week on their website. Rockridge offers one rotating pizza of the day, while the Uptown location lets you choose from several different options. If you want variety, Uptown is the place to go. My favorite slices are the ones with corn or mushrooms, but honestly almost every combo is great. The potato one is probably my least favorite but it's still pretty good. Do not miss the green sauce. It has a cilantro and jalapeño kick that pairs perfectly with the pizza. They also have a red sauce, but I always go for the green. A slice is $4.50 and comes with a bonus sliver on top. A half pizza, which is four slices, is $15. A full pizza is $28. They also serve salads, beer, and a variety of drinks. The Rockridge location is spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for a small group. There are large TVs playing sports and plenty of parking since it is in a plaza. Staff is always friendly and the place is consistently clean. Highly recommend!

Craving for pizza lately in addition a place with parking and quick turnaround as I need to commute across the bridge. A pretty tall order. Luckily it was early. This place came to mind. Perhaps a bit early at 11:15 am for lunch. By the time I had arrived it was opened but no pizza yet but in a few minutes. I like that for a slice you get a couple of sliver slices too. They are vegetarian with green sauce to complement the pizza. Slightly spicy but adds to the flavor. Counter person was pleasant. Eventually the slice was delivered. It was a welcome and familiar taste. In addition reasonably priced.

Sliver Pizza of the Day

I can not even begin to describe how disappointed I was with the service and product. Loved sliver before the expansion, but quality significantly dropped and there's no consistency through each location.

Out of all the other Sliver locations, this might be the best one for parking and convenience - although I have not attempted to try the other location in Lafayette. This Sunday's pizza of the day had corn, baby heirloom tomatoes, red cabbage, mozzarella, french feta, lemon zest cilantro, and garlic olive oil. Probably one of the best versions of the corn pizzas I've had. Their pies are thin crust but always have the right amount of toppings and crisp to it. Of course all orders come wih a "sliver" or two of the flavor you choose. A whole pizza is about 28 bucks with 8 pieces and 2 sliver slices on top. Plenty for 2-3 people depending on how hungry you are. It's also never suuuper busy at this location so ordering doesn't take forever. Overall, this spot is our go to because of how big and convenient parking is!

Crust

Was willing to try this place because the flavors sounded inventive but the crust is seriously the worst I've ever had. Completely flat and gummy without a single bubble, and the bottom is all dimpled like the frozen pizza crust you get at the grocery store. There's an art to making thin crust pizza and this isn't it. Also, Bible verses on the boxes = hard pass, even if the pizza was good.

Soggy, flimsy and wet

I really really wanted to like this place and I usually don't leave reviews. I love what they're doing. I'm a vegetarian so I'm always looking for places that are all about serving fresh produce. Their pizza of the day looked excellent but when it came out, it was probably the soggiest pizza I've ever had. It's dripping, wet and barely edible

At least I got to go a couple times before they closed and was able to try all the unique flavors that I wanted to try. The first time I went was with my family. We got a whole Ube pizza. The taste was good, and love the uniqueness of it. Even the dough is purple! There weren't that many people there when we went, so the service was quick. My second visit was closing weekend with a group of friends. I got to try two more flavors recommended by the server during my first visit - blackberry and longanisa. Both were very good in different ways. I think I preferred the blackberry slightly over longanisa. They had a lot of take out orders that day, and we got the last white dough (there were still Ube). Good thing we got what we got. Even though they were super busy, the service was still quick and pizza came out fast. I heard they opened up again in San Francisco but for take out only. So glad they reopened because after having the amazing pizzas right before they closed on Oakland, my friends and I were sad that we didn't go sooner. Can't wait to try again in the future.

Jeff, the owner and pizza maker, is so nice, warmly welcoming us upon arrival and inquired if we'd prefer indoor or outdoor seating. Beautiful day so opted for outdoor on their expansive back patio. Miso mushroom - new to me, savory and bright flavor. Yuzu and lemon acidity cuts into the savory of the mushroom and miso. Might be one of my new favorites. Soppresata - an OG item on the menu and one of my favorites. Simple classic pizza with soppresata topped with scallions and honey. Savory, sweet. The honey is perfect on this pizza. Longanisa - Filipino inspired with longanisa, baked egg, and tomato. Savory and sweet. Heaviest of the three pizzas. Comes with a side of sweet vinegar to drizzle on top. All three of these pizzas easily are favorites for me. They're super large and best to share with 2-3 people. All thin crust. 6 of us had these three pizzas and were able to finish it but were super stuffed. Wishing the best to Jeff and Spinning Dough's next adventure.

I don't know why the pies cost so much, but they are only a few blocks from our place, so I want to support the few restaurants that set up shop in West Oakland. However, I'm starting to sour on this place. I don't mind overpaying for pizza; that's just edible, but on a few occasions, I've been appalled by what these folks try to get away with. A couple of months ago, they gave us a pie that was so burnt I had to call to complain, and they replaced it with a less burnt pie. Perhaps they don't know that extremely burnt food is full of carcinogens. This week, we ordered our usual 18-inch pie. This pie was a Frankenstein pie; half of it tasted like it had been sitting under the lamp all day. A telltale sign is how stiff the cheese is; the old dough feels as if I'm chewing on rubber, and the slices are stiff and salty overall, though some slices taste a bit fresher and crunchier. I was disappointed. If you're going to overcharge for mediocre pizza, the least you could do is give people what they are paying for. If I wanted old, stale pizza, I would've asked for the slices that sit under the lamp all day. Moving forward, if we order from this place, I will walk over, place the order, and wait for it, so we don't get cheated again. This place is a reminder of why certain restaurants often fail. The food is overpriced, and they are inconsistent with their service, if not disrespectful, in how they sometimes treat and feed their customers. We're not pigs; we just like eating the sweet little pig.

Or you can order on your phone and let them know if you're dining in or picking up. We ordered the Sweet Little Pig pizza which has pepperoni, candied bacon, and basil on top! I really liked the tiny pep they used, they curl up when baked. This pizza was the perfect combo of sweet and savory, I bet it would be even better with some balsamic drizzled on it too. We also ordered a side of their blue cheese and basil ranch. I didn't know ranch could get any better than plain ranch. Basil ranch was bright and also creamy. I've been here a few times before to watch a warriors game. They've got tons of seating and of course they stream all of the games. Great community vibes and you get to enjoy delicious pizza and drinks while you're here.
