Forge & Vine is a solid spot with a great vibe, but it's a little hit-or-miss for me. The space is beautiful, though I'm not a huge fan of how close the tables are to each other--even if I understand why they do it to maximize seating. My biggest wish is that the menu changed up a bit more. Every time I go, it feels very similar, and I often find myself struggling to find something that truly stands out or excites me. The food is good, just not particularly memorable. That said, the service is consistently good and it's still a nice place to meet up or go for a casual night out. I'd love to see some fresher or more creative menu rotations in the future because the setting definitely deserves it.

Banana fosters pie for birthday dessert

We came to Forge & Vine for my husband's birthday. Our time here was such a wonderful experience. Visiting this restaurant t had been on our bucket list. The venue itself is quite large and open. The style inside is almost like sitting inside a giant barn that is furnished. The kitchen is open concept, so you can see the chef and cooks prepping food and planning. When we visited there was a local singer playing guitar and popular songs. Our waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu on hand. This was helpful when I wanted a cocktail with no sugar and to order a lighter entree. The Fire & Spice drink on the other hand wasn't my favorite. There was a lot going on with the drink and I just wanted a simple fresh margarita. I ordered: 1.) Judith Calamari - 5 stars and the quantity was plentiful 2.) French onion soup - 5 stars, I'm amazed at just how good this was! It was rich and packed with an onion punch. The presentation was gorgeous. 3.) Thumbelina carrots - 5 stars, sumac seasoning is one of my favorites and the carrots were not over cooked. Very delightful to feast on 4.) Banana Foster Pie - 3.5 stars, the crust was too hard to cut into with a fork. We ended up using our hands and even the taste was too dry. But the banana fosters filling was yummy so that was appreciated We plan to come back! Maybe in the summer or fall when there is a menu change. The produce here is unbeatable and local. There is always a lovely crowd too which really adds to the experience. Thank you so much for having us!

Scallops

A wonderful meal! The scallops appetizer were tender and flavorful in a rich butter sauce, oysters were briney and fresh. Now the best was the steel head trout!! Yikes so good, like butter!! The drinks were spot on and the service was impeccable by Jessica She was there when we needed her with great advice. Wouldn't change a thing! Will be back soon.

Excellent food and service to start. The atmosphere is bright, open, windows all around to a great view of the local farm land. The food is consistently very good to great with seasonal options. Bar offerings and wine list are very good as well. One of the best if not the best option in the local area so a must try if in area or looking for a place to drive to.

Our waitress was wonderful. The tallow fries were really great. We each ordered the filet mignon off the specials. It was served as two round slices of steak. Pictured, is the dessert we ordered: apple fritter funnel cake.

Beautiful fall evening for a perfectly made cocktail outside.

Mike made the best cosmo I have had in a long time. Made exactly to order in an adult size martini glass. The wine was a generous pour. Shrimp app, although different than the last time, was fresh and tender. The burger was ordered medium, but was well done when it was delivered. Mike offered to send it back, but not wanting to waste food, I didn't take him up on his offer. He really wanted to make it right and also offered a complimentary dessert. Classy. Despite being cooked well, it was flavorful and of good quality.

The food here was fantastic! My family and I went here this past Friday and it was our first time coming. We were all impressed! The little leaf salad with shrimp is yummy. They had a variety of nonalcoholic drink options which I really appreciated. Our waitress was outstanding. The food was brought out pretty quickly considering we had a large group. Our waitress brought out a water pitcher for each side of our table which you don't often get in other restaurants. The inside of the restaurant was loud but we had a nice private room. If I am ever in the Groton area again, I will be back!

We went here with our kids to celebrate my birthday. We enjoyed the open kitchen and seeing the working kitchen. They also had a kid's menu for coloring and to pick from. We had the charcuterie board, flat bread, cheeseburgers, and scallops. Everything tasted very fresh and the atmosphere with the rolling hills in the back was very nice. The only thing we would have liked to change is the wait on the food. The first food item took 40-45 mins to come out(which was the charcuterie board). With the kids(6,7), it was a little too long of a wait. Luckily the kids were able to eat off the board but we ate quite a bit of the board until the main meals came out. Perhaps next time though we would ask for the kids items to come out first.

We have been to Forge and Vine a couple times for special events. We recently had some time to kill on a Saturday night and took a chance to see if we could get a table, as we have always needed a reservation. We lucked out and were able to get two seats at the bar upon arrival. I ordered a Mule Cider Mocktale and my husband had a beer. I was very impressed with my mocktale. For food we order oysters on the half shell, a salad and a charcuterie board. Our food arrived quickly, was fresh and delicious. Our bartender was friendly and prompt. We love the farm to table food and the atmosphere. We will continue to come to Forge and Vine.

Pan roasted duck breast

Heard of this place last year, when we visited gibbet hill grill. We only heard of forge & vine from a fire they had & was shut down from clients that came to gibbet hill for dinner. We were looking for a place for a celebration retirement dinner. We were thinking of going to Gibbet Hill, but they didn't take reservations for a group of 4. Forge & Vine did take reservations for an early dinner. The restaurant is very nice inside and outside, it was warm inside with the fire placing burning, our table was in front of the fireplace and had a great view of the outdoor surroundings. The staff was very friendly and our 1st time here. Our server was very good, and attentive, frequently checking on us, even when it got busy. The food is made to order fresh, we all had eaten at Gibbet Hill, but found this Resturant more warm, welcoming and friendly staff. The food came out fast and was supper delicious. For appetizers we had the fried calamari, roasted brussel sprouts, and one guest had the onion soup, delicious!!! We had the pan sear scallops, daily special... Chilean Sea bass, pan roasted duck breast, and the loaded Burger (burger with bacon, egg, avocados, lettuce, tomato and onion, which was too big to bite into) Desert we had coffee & dark chocolate cake. We found this place better than Gibbet hill grill. Would highly recommend!!!

There were a decent amount of people waiting in the waiting area. We were hoping to grab a seat at the bar before our reservation, but apparently the bar isn't first come first served, which was a bit disappointing. Having to join a waitlist just to sit at the bar isn't something I've ever experienced before and I feel like it kind of defeats the purpose of bar seating. Once seated, we ordered a round of vodka gimlets, which were tasty and made really well. Our server was also very friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout dinner, which is honestly a big reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3. I've been here once before, years ago, and remember having an exceptional meal. Unfortunately, this time around the food was a bit lacking. We ordered the ribeye with béarnaise sauce, a side of bone marrow, macaroni and cheese, and a Caesar salad to share. I was a little disappointed with the portion of macaroni and cheese. It was pretty small especially for a side to be shared. For some reason I remember the side portions being a bit more generous in the past. That being said, the mac and cheese itself was great. Super creamy, cheesy, and flavorful. The bone marrow was also great, and the Caesar salad was your average Caesar salad, no complaints there. The ribeye was probably the biggest disappointment. I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but the steak was surprisingly tough for being cooked medium rare. On the positive side it was seasoned perfectly and had a really nice char on it. The flavor was definitely there but the tenderness just wasn't as tender as a ribeye normally is. Overall, I still had a good experience. The service was great, the drinks were well made, and some of the food was really enjoyable. I just feel like the portions and quality of the steak could've been better, especially considering my previous experience here. Nothing was so bad that we felt the need to send anything back or complain, but it definitely wasn't the exceptional meal I remembered. I'm giving 4 stars because of the great service and because this was only my second visit, so I'm willing to chalk the steak up to an off day. I'd come back and give it another chance, just hoping the next experience is a little more consistent with what I remember.

Their huge 275-seat event space was packed at tables for 4 to 8, for the two 1-hour sets of Live Dead & Brothers Band, an Allman Brothers - Grateful Dead group of legacy musicians from those bands and families!!! An authentic rockin' performance! They opened hot, with Feelin' Alright and Truckin', and ended hot with Midnight Rider, Ramblin' Man, and Jessica, with around 14 more between. The acoustics were excellent at our table, and we also took up our share of the crowded dance area :-) Their tour continues at least through Dec 2026. Our tickets were about $50 each. Service was fast and friendly, and they let us pull up one more chair for our group of nine. You can get crafted beers and cocktails. We settled in with ice cold regional beers, which honestly are just as distinctive as fancy craft beers. We got some food to share off their "concert menu", too. An entrée-size dish of rich creamy homemade Mac & Cheese, made with tasty aged Grafton Cheddar, soft slightly-al-dente curly Cavatappi pasta tubes, not-overcooked green beans, as i recall, crisply crusted with lightly-maple breadcrumbs. Very flavorful and satisfying. A sweet fresh bright Autumn Salad of greens, pecans, and bright beets, in tart vinaigrette. And juicy "Bull Run Classic" burgers with crisp lettuce, tasty firm tomato, mildly-sharp red onion, and, for one of them, an add-on of rich cheddar, all on a cloud-like brioche bun. They do ask for $20 per person food/beverage minimum for all shows, essentially an entree or a couple beverages each. That's about what we had planned to order anyway :-) This place knocked us out with their dedication to farm-to-table ingredients, sourced from more than 25 regional farms named on the dinner menu. We've never seem such an extensive list of the actual sources. Very cool! The Bull Run has been a tavern since 1741, named after the Battle of Bull Run in 1861, (or in another version, named for a brawl in the tavern at the same time :-), and has been run by the Guercios extended-family since 1946. It was a stop on the stagecoach route and a gathering place for the Revolutionary war. We loved the original wood, structure, and décor. The fireplaces were lovely. It's a huge venue. Bull Run has live music every week, and they're open Wed-Sun, but watch their schedule because dates vary, sometimes one day that week, sometimes all four! This show was in their 275-seat room. There's at least one larger room for around 400. Theres a little parking along Rt 2A, and much more out back across the covered bridge. Dont be put off by the rustic exterior. We loved this legendary performance at a legendary restaurant!

This restaurant is well worth traveling to, even though Pepperell is off the beaten path. Make reservations in advance, especially if you're interested in one of the rotating Hungarian dishes chef Chris has that weekend ( TLB is open for dinner and takeout Thursday -Sunday from 4-9 PM). Let them know to reserve a specific Hungarian specialty (Hungarian Goulash, Chicken Paprikash, Porkholt, etc.which are usually dune-in only) and how many, because these dishes are complex and chef Chris needs to know how many portions to make for that day. Trust: EVERYTHING chef Chris creates is AMAZING, but the aforementioned dishes and ANYTHING seafood are truly magnificent in taste, presentation, and portion size.
