Ah, Forest Room 5, what a funky and unique spot, if only your staff were the tiniest bit nicer. The bar has taxidermized animals, mini dioramas, hidden rooms, a tepee, a library, and many more things I have yet to discover. I love to take people from out of town here for a unique experience. The rotating draft list is decent as are their drinks and I was pleasantly surprised by the food I've gotten. However, do not expect to get the warm fuzzies from the staff. They seem to take pleasure in being nasty and curt- we even had our happy hour menu snatched from our hands at 6:01 the other night. I think it's meant to be part of the whole vibe, but I'd love to feel a bit more welcome there. read more

I go to college in Denver and recently I've been trying to go to more restaurants within the Denver area. And I happened to stumble upon Forest Room five on TikTok. So me and my friend decided to go check out what everybody was raving about. I think it meet my expectations of what TikTok described it as, outdoorsy, strange but yet corky and an experience that you should all try. I had fun time. It cool place you should try! This was a fun bar to visit! It was very busy but we were able to find a spot quickly. The server was really great, too! We didn't try food, unfortunately. We wanted to play games but they were either taken, or missing some pieces so that was a bummer. But we enjoyed our time anyway :) read more

You know that Cards Against Humanity Card that reads: "What would grandma find disturbing, yet oddly charming?" Yeah. That pretty much sums ups this bar. As I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a wall of horrifying antiques, including: old dolls, bad taxidermy, vintage books / toys, old teddy bears and more! The drinks were pretty good and the outdoor patio was great. However, I just couldn't get past the feeling that I had just walked into some serial killer's hiding spot from the 1970's. We came here to grab a drink while awaiting our spot at the Truffle Table down the block and were pleasantly surprised to find such a cute bar with an impressive cocktail menu! It was too cold to sit outside, but they had fun lit-up tables on the patio that we will be back for in summer. Inside was just as fun and eclectic with random items stacked to the high ceiling behind the bar and one long table down the middle, again with muted neon lighting underneath. I had a hard time deciding which of their unique crafted cocktails to choose, but given the weather I went with the "It's ok, we saw it on TV" which is essentially a spiced cider hot toddy and it was incredibly rich and delicious! The perfect winter warmer! Our waitress was super sweet as well. We'll be back to try more and perhaps some food next time! read more

Good spot for a summer night if you want to eat and drink outside. We were looking for a spot and we're drawn to the outdoor seating area. I liked my Watermelon on Mars cocktail as it was light and not too sweet. The Quinoa Salad was pretty good but the Portobello Mushroom Burger was my favorite. I read the other reviews about the off service but didn't experience this on the Thursday night I went. I'd recommend for a late night drink. If you sit outside, there is very little light and you may need your phone flashlight to navigate around and find a table. Overall, I liked the vibe and had a great time! read more

If you're in the Highlands, this place is a must stop! An inside bar that feels like you're outside. Bonus...they also have a sweet outside with fire pits. Make sure to try one of their unique signature cocktails. I recommend the Huckleberry Lynx and the Bear Heaven! read more

Very interesting bar - definitely has a woodsy, outdoor vibe to it. We sat in the basement which was pretty dark but still cozy. Our server was incredibly nice and accommodating for our group. Ambiance is great. Service has harmed the experience. The male bar tender with the long hair refused to split a check simply because we were all sitting at the same table. Been here a few times, and always had the same bar tender. Each time he's snarky and inattentive. Better staff will immediately improve this bar 10x read more

The bartender working tonight, Adrian, was about as bad as they come. Rude, unhelpful and argumentative. The owner was there and he after I explained how inclined I was to go anywhere else when they had overheard me telling my date we should find somewhere else to go, and instead of any sort of apology he just told me it's a problem they don't have. I'm sure it's great when it's busy and you're just ordering the "go-tos" walking up to a crowded bar it's fun to be here especially with the setup but if you're planning on having a quieter night this ain't it. read more

This place is weird and relaxed. It's got all sorts of nostalgia and old cartoons running. If you want shots and beers, it's cool. It's roudy. There's gum stuck under the bar and tables. It's dirty and easy. Lots of locals come here after working their kitchen shifts. The bartenders are surly. It's a fun rambunctious crowd. It is not a place for a refined cocktail. I love theme bars and anything gimmicky, so this bar had the potential to be one of my favorite spots. Unfortunately, the bartenders are just super unfriendly and unlikeable. I can literally feel how much they hate their jobs. I've gone a handful of times and every time I assume that it's a one-time thing, but every time they are rude, annoyed, and unpleasant. The drinks are also way too expensive for how mediocre they are. read more

Since they don't seem to have a website or other authoritative communications platforms (their Facebook is inaccurate and not maintained), I'm not sure how one would know before showing up. I kind of hated this place. It's a hipster bar and unless you fit into the crowd or are already a regular, you'll have a hard time getting service. If you're lucky enough to get a drink, savor it, because the holier-than-thou weirdo bartender probably won't get you a second drink. Also, the bar stools are literal tree stumps. Super uncomfortable. Seriously. I don't think I'd come back here. read more

Forest Room 5. 5 stars. This outdoorsy themed bar was just the spot to top off our wilderness adventure. It was a nice night, so we enjoyed our bevvys in their outdoor seating. I'm talking tree stumps for seats, TPs to hide out in, fire pits, and trees and other brush that truly make you feel like you're in the forest. My PICs and I claimed the TP and camped out all evening. Unfortunately, I didn't take a close look at the cocktail menu, but I enjoyed a couple of old fashions. They were made to perfection. Fun spot and hope to visit again soon! read more

I have been coming to this bar for several years, but recently lost a very valuable and sentimental ring during a very cold evening. After noticing it was gone just after closing (around 2AM) I went back and spoke with management. THEY WERE INCREDIBLE. I wish I had a name for the guy who took full responsibility for finding the ring and returning it to me. Not only did they return the ring, and declined a cash offer, but he called me several times to ensure I was aware of what was happening and when, if at all, I could return to get my ring. Clearly, there was a lot of anxiety surrounding this as they do not open until 4 and I was trying to remember how my ring could have possibly fallen off, but I was thrilled when I received the call stating they had actually found the ring. I do remember the name of the cleaner, Colleen. The integrity, honesty, and all around kindness has 100% earned my return, and forever, business. HUGE thanks to the whole staff at this location. I used to love this bar (prior to COVID) for its atmosphere, food, and drinks. It's definitely gone downhill and employees don't seem to care. Service is extremely slow. It took over 20+ minutes to get one cocktail and a draft beer brought to us. Only saw one waitress actively doing her job. The other employees stayed inside the bar and from what we could see from outside, not helping out at all. It was quite empty for a Friday night and service shouldn't have been this slow with so many employees just standing around doing nothing. read more

This place is so ~hip~ and honestly a gem in Denver!! If you don't walk past it (which you might, tbh), it's honestly worth the venture to come inside. Loves: + Outside patio that feels like an intimate, enclosed campsite (hello, tree trunks and baby fires!) + Cool & not NYC-priced cocktails + Swing upstairs on 2nd floor + Just tree trunk vibes all around!! What's to not like? The bar can get too crowded... as in never sit at the bar on a weekend unless you want people hovering over your date. But beyond that, I'm a fan of this tree-loving bar. read more

This place is weird and the service is spotty but I love it. Dark at night and kinda spooky with sexy drinks and snacks. What's not to love? The Bear up front has been my date many nights and I have photos with him, I've cheers'd him, and he's a real good listener. The patio out back is fun for groups or an intimate date night--if you're into that. I haven't been back in awhile but you best bet you'll see me this spring getting my drink on. Or maybe you won't. I ordered a non-alcoholic drink that was good but became warm almost instantly and was nearly $17. The hotel was hosting a dog adoption event that Tito's Vodka was also partnering with in 54thirty. It was nice to be able to duck into the corridor to see what the adoption event was all about and also get some cooler air. You do get a good view of the city and of the convention center so that is what you're paying for.

If Josh doesn't own Seven Grand, someone should probably look into fixing that. Go upstairs and things are worse with a Janky wanna-be suburban gangsta DJ playing pre-recorded mixes from songs that were obviously ripped from YouTube, and shooting monopoly money from toy guns like an anamatronic rat at Chick E. Cheezy's. Anything that was truly edgy and cool has now been thrown out and replaced by pure neglect, promos slapped together by some AI they didn't even bother buying a subscription to--you know, the basic version which is completely on brand--reduced to a desperate cash grab. This is apparent as soon as you step over puddles of urine and walk in the door, and through the fake metal detector (and oh yeah, then over sand bags and puddles from sewer pipes that overflow because the owner is too cheap to invest in repairs or ensure customer safety), finally into a building that is in disrepair. Yeah, it's a vibe from a backwater dancehall in Khazakhstan but unintentionally, not so much as a place of entertainment. Almost everything, and I mean everything in the venue is old, outdated, or broken, from the ATM (you'd be crazy to trust that anyway) and arcade games, to the club rooms with broken, non-working club lights, and again pipes that drip and leak (you'll literally see buckets on the middle of the dance floor, and garbage bags draped over the DJ booths and the bar--and no, they don't sanitize after these accidents, evveeeer. The place is in disrepair and what used to be rooms with cool decor are now just generic and dirty looking as basic cleanliness is non-existent--the whole venue reeks the moment you walk in. Most worrisome is the lack of security (good luck finding anyone if you need help after you get past the door person) making the disorganized chaos feel unsafe and gross and anything but exciting. While Milk was once a cool and celebrated part of the Denver club scene up until a few years before the pandemic, the owner has obviously lost touch with reality and has no sense of loyalty to a clientele and commujity who made his clubs successful. But this has been a long time coming as Milk has been on the slow and steady decline for years. Over the last year the place has spiraled into a complete free fall with the last regular DJs pushed out and replaced by amateurs like the dude who needs a platform to stand on whose sets sound like a complication of greatest hits CDs played on random, with no theme or identity. The events and nights seem thrown together at the last minute, like you know splattered against the wall to see what will stick, but it's stinking instead. Its consistency, its soul, its relevance is gone. Most damning and reflective is the point several other reviewers have made about the vibe of sexism that exudes like the toxic masculinity that produces it from those who run this place as it's almost all male managers, DJs and bartenders, with a few women in the lowest, menial positions. And that obvious bias and grossness speaks volumes! My humble advice: save your night, your money, your self-respect and conscience choosing instead to support venues and spaces that actually know something about loyalty and principles other than greed and pettiness, which actually cares about and respects its patrons and customers.

Worst Dining Experience Ever!!! My wife and I went to this place after seeing it in 5280 All Things Denver. We arrived at 8 pm and the place had about 12-15 people in it. We ordered drinks and food, then waited for an hour with no water refills or drink refills before our intoxicated waiter came back and said, "Doing ok?" I proceeded to ask about our food and he said, "You wanted food?" He offered to put in our food order and pay for it so we said, "Ok, these things happen." 45 minutes later, no food or drinks so I decided to go talk to a manager about it. Walked up to the bar and asked for a manager and the older gentleman behind the bar said,"He is the owner." I then proceeded to tell him about our disappointment and issue with the waiter and he said and I quote, "So why did you feel the need to come tell me this?" This infuriated me and I told him that our table and the table next to us were both getting terrible service (he tried to bring the wrong food to the table next to us twice) and the owner just brushed me off and said, "He is not even supposed to be here tonight, we are short staffed and we have been here 15 years." This made no sense since we had been there since 8 and he was one of two waiters that were there when we got there. I will never go back and if you decide to try your luck then run away if you get the waiter that looks just like Jim Morrison with the beard. Also the owner should take a class on how to deal with customers that spend money to keep him in business. read more

I have to say one of the most interesting bars I have been to. First off, you are hit with a very unique and kind of creepy décor. Yes, it is a forest theme, but it gives off a weird and creepy kind of theme, which I am not sure if that was intentional. Even though the décor is quite strange, they really do go all out with it. They have fake plants, pinecones, stuffed animals, interesting posters, and an old school black and white movie playing behind the bar. You really need a minute to take it all in, especially if you don't know what you are in for. Outside however, is actually really nice. They have a cool camper type lounge with log seats and a fire place. This place must know what it's doing because it was full of people, a little too full for my taste. But that aside, the purpose of the visit was for drinks, so got my hands on a drink menu and saw quite an interesting selection of drinks and names. I wanted to try one of their unique drinks, but after waiting for a ridiculous amount of time for the bartender to ask us what we wanted to order, I stuck with a Moscow mule because the las thing I wanted was to have waited that long and not like my drink. The good news is liked the Moscow mule. The general impression I got from this place was that it was trying a little too hard to be "out there" and different. It is definitely worth a visit since you won't find anything like it, but the quality of service is not where it needs to be. read more

Staff had a ugly pretentious personality and everyone there seemed to act above us. Not friendly. Welcome to the Denver Highlands. Get off your horse, serve drinks, be chill and hospitable. Brought my family in from KC- who have never been out in Denver (my parents, and sister) only to be kicked out shortly after over a misunderstanding about the trailer "guidelines" behind the bar. Apparently the trailer outside is not part of the decor- my dad and I touched it and a guy came flying out (of the trailer) cursing us and saying we tried to take his stuff-? We literally touched the thing to see if it was real. It is... (I'll admit that we should not touch someone's stuff but it looks like part of the decor.) The owner then stormed off and told the bar we tried to break into his house... ---?? Why would you allow a POS to live in a trailer next to your bar that is camping themed??? The bartenders then rudely kicked us out after this and told my 65 year old parents to "f'- off" and "never come. back". We're the bartenders wasted? Dick heads? Or awful people? Either way- the staff here should not be allowed to work in the service industry. They ruined our night and my family's taste of Colorado over nothing. Thanks Forest Room 5... Pompous staff and overpriced drinks... I'd second Sb A.'s - legitimately WORST service in Denver- review. I went to Forest Room 5 with my happy, likable, easy going friend. When he cheerily asked if they had anything on tap or any specials... I am pretty sure the tight-jeaned, hipster behind the bar strained his eyes in order to roll them in the most obvious, obnoxious way possible. Then he said - in a nasally, exasperated voice - "we don't do specials here." Annoyed, we should have walked out then. However, momentum caused us to ordered our overpriced bottles of beer. As to not encourage dicky behavior, we didn't leave the bartender a tip for his service of disdainfully cracking open two beers. When he notice, he looked directly at us and said, "really?" in the same art school dropout voice. "Yeah really" was my aghast reaction. I am genuinely shocked the business continues to keep its doors open with the kind of service they provide. Maybe patrons continue to go there for the same masochistic reason people go to the infamous Wiener Circle in Chicago. I don't know, but I encourage you to head mine an others advice to avoid this place like the plague on your nights out. read more

I'd like to let everyone know what their signature dish is: Raw vegetables, evenly sliced. Yep-you heard me right. Raw vegetables, evenly sliced. This is what the owner said when I called to explain that I'm writing a piece for a website. (Forest Room 5 was highly recommended by one of my interviewees so I was planning to include some information about it, a hyperlink., etc. etc.) Would they please tell me what their signature dish is? After being put on hold, the person I was speaking with came back to convey the owner's response: "Raw vegetables--uncooked--and evenly sliced." I was bit surprised, since I'd just looked at the menu online. So I deleted Forest Room 5 from my story and wrote about one of their competitors down the block - also recommended by my intervieww. If you're looking for a cozy and forest themed place for some drinks/food/good vibes with indoor and outdoor seating then come to Forest Room 5! Food/drinks: The Huckleberry cocktail I drank was up to par. It wasn't too sweet and had just the right amount of flavor in it. It's a refreshing choice if you want something light. I also enjoyed the salmon tacos, they were delicious! Atmosphere: This place has a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating with QR codes where you can look at the menu. The outside area is very unique with lots of plants/trees giving it an earthy vibe. Price: The prices here are fairly normal and they do have happy hour deals as well. The cocktail prices were better than what I'm normally used to in other states. Parking: There is street parking available in the area or if you're close enough, ride a scooter there. read more

I have not been back to this place since my last rockin' review (which I promise you I won't), but I felt if necessary to comment that on my last visit there I left my debit card at the bar (compliments of their horrible start-a-tab policy) AND THEY GAVE IT TO A STRANGER. They gave my finances to a person I had only met that day. They gave it to NOT me. They gave it to a creepy dude that had been trying to pick me up. Im a girl, surely they couldn't have believed he was me? And I'm pretty sure this is illegal, no? I called for the manager and still have yet to speak to somebody about it! I really want to like this place, since I live so close by. They have a good ambience, clever designed space, but the service is rude, the menu is sloppy and the main bar is cramped. The stools at the bar are way to close together to be comfortable. Did I mention the service is rude? When they were out of three of the things on the menu I wanted, the server walked away. WTF is that? I ordered a drink, paid cash, and another bartender swept up my 6 dollars in change like it was garbage on the bar. The food is inconsistent and overpriced. These guys have no idea what they are doing in the kitchen and it shows. I've been in before and dealt with wretched service before. Shame on me for not being smarter. read more

So this place is really cool - don't get me wrong. Got here at 630, wasn't very busy, sign said seat yourself, I went to the bathroom and my boyfriend was dropped off a menu. After that never saw a waitor. I got annoyed and made my boyfriend go to the bar to order us drinks and food.. he waited at the bar for the drinks and said the food was ordered .... 30 min later our drinks were gone and no food. He goes to order another drink and ask about the food... waits another 20 min. I had to give a 1 star, there are no other options. This used to be our go to place but the service has dwindled over time. Last weekend after wait a good length of time we had to flag down a waitress. Once my boyfriend showed up service was immediate. Why? Because he's a guy? Friday after a 20 minute wait we had to flag someone down to put in our entire order. Our drinks came 15 minutes later. 30 minutes later we were still waiting on appetizers. 1 hour & 5 minutes!!!! I kept looking at our waitress and she kept going in the corner to visit and chit chat with another waitress. Horrible horrible service !! read more

Pretty neat little niche restaurant. Its definitely worth going atleast once, to say you've been. The appetizers were pretty good and they had some decent beers. The outdoor seating is what makes the place what it is. Like other people have said it does absolutely have a hipster vibe to it. However the service that we got from our waitress (unfortunately cant remember her name)was fantastic. I've visited Forest room five on many occasions over the last two or so years. After giving it a fair shake I've come to a few conclusions. First of all, it's an absolute pile of shit. But not your standard every day pile of shit. A Pile of shit that an "artist" piles up, then sells for 43.2 million, because......um.....Art? My friends and I (4 of us total) came on a Friday night and it had a good amount of people without feeling too cramped. We ordered a wide variety of drinks, starting with a round of espresso martinis (which I would highly recommend). We had a few more rounds with each of us ordering separately. One of my friends asked our bartender for a suggestion and she really enjoyed her drink. However, my other friend got a suggested drink and did not like it at all. The bartender was kind enough to swap out his drink, which our group definitely appreciated. I'm definitely coming back and bringing any of my visitors who can appreciate a good cocktail.

The cocktails were definitely the highlight of the experience. Really cool atmosphere that almost makes you feel like you're in another country. I was disappointed to hear that one of the bartenders who really helped make the place special is no longer there. They had a great reputation and were a big part of why people enjoyed coming in. (My reasoning for a 4 star review, instead of 5) I'd still recommend checking it out for the drinks, but I hope they continue to maintain the level of service and personality that made the bar stand out! They do have a wonderful team here.

You'll find it by going inside The Maven Hotel which I will say had a beautiful-looking lobby. Poka Lola was elected more than your plain/average hotel bar which I did appreciate. They also did certainly roll with Halloween as a theme for decorations. I did expect a little more of the top though from what I saw online. Drink wise I went with Ghostface which did unfortunately come in a skeleton tiki glass and not the Ghosface glass I had seen being used on social media. My wife got the Cursed Skull which tasted like a Pina Colada and came with a lot yo skull. Solid presentation overall. Mind you if you get a drink in a special glass they will hold a card of yours till it returns due to theft. Very unfortunate people have stolen and made this a necessity. Was an enjoyable visit with good drinks but would check out other places before returning to compare.
