Way back in the 1970s and 80s this was one of my favorite places to play. Tough holes and good scoring holes mixed together. Played here on Thursday 12/27. Course was fun even if soaking wet. Greens were firm and rolled great. Traps easy to play out of. Had a great time. Didnt score well but im used to dry and fast courses in Vegas. Staff was nice and pleasant. Had a beer in the bar afterwards. Just a great place, glad to see its still running good after 30 years. read more

I just got home from playing 18 at Forest Hills. It was a terrible experience. The front nine took almost 3 hours in very hot weather. They allowed the group ahead of us to play with five people. When I went in at the turn to ask why, they denied permitting it.. I'm pretty confident my foursome each know how to count to five, especially since we got to watch them tee off on virtually every hole on the front. On top of that $91 for 18 and a cart with no senior discount is ridiculous for a course like this. In the last couple weeks, we've played Wildwood and Chehalem for significantly less cost with significantly better experiences on the course. The heavy set blonde gal that works there (also golfs with a group of 4) needs to show some professionalism. She was in front of us her group was moving slow. They had asked us if the group behind us was catching up and we said yes politely but it was no big deal. We had tee'd off on 14 and their group didn't like that we did so. Ball landed about 103 yards behind them. They started yelling at us and we apologized and continued. As we finished the round at 18, a young man came out and said he had multiple complaints about us. When I exposed that their EMPLOYEE couldn't handle their drunk friends ordering mixed drinks all day, he shut down quick. Needless to say, if you see the thick blonde woman working/playing in front of you, ask for a different t time. read more

Well cared for course. The great thing about this place is it's far out so it's not too busy. I went on a rainy morning so barely anyone was there. It was awesome as it only drizzled for the first hour or so so the later 3/4 of my game was nice, quiet and laid back. Service was awesome and the course was beautiful. My only critique was that I needed to change and one guy gave me some grief for needing to use the "members only" locker room to change into my rain paints. Courses definitely need to cut back on this exclusivity in golf. I understand there are memberships and all... I wasn't asking to use a shower, I needed to swap my shorts for rain paints so I could play on their course. read more

First round ever here today. Beautiful course the back 9 is really cool. To start off the day, my buddy got ran off the road trying to enter the parking lot of the course off the hwy, and actually ended up in the ditch with his truck. No hesitation i shit you not one of the guys working at the course jumped in a golf cart drove over and helped us push it out ha! You can tell they hire people that care. Thanks again dude! All in all a great experience and exceptional service considering the circumstances. Will be returning soon. read more

Forest Hills is one of my favorite golf courses. From the clubhouse everything looks normal, but this is really one difficult course. Some of the holes are pretty straight forward and simple, but then some of them are just brutal shots over water to small greens. I just like the varying difficulty and the elevation changes throughout. Hole 10, to me, is the most difficult hole on the course. You are firing at a very small green with a severe drop-off in front and trees and the cart path almost immediately behind. It's almost best to just layup and wedge a shot over there. It really has an old school vibe about the place. I think it starts at the clubhouse, but it really is pretty nice out there. Literally in the orchard/farm fields. So, you know it's going to be a nice peaceful walk. The fairways and greens are always well kept and the pace is usually pretty good during the peak season. It's also a more wooded course with plenty of shade. I wouldn't say the course is wide open because if you are not hitting it relatively straight, you'll be in quite a bit of trouble. It's not all hard though, they place some good easy holes in between for you also. If you are going to go out here, I would definitely map this one out. read more

Course was in excellent shape when I played it a couple of weeks ago. Good healthy walking course, if you desire. Putting green is generous. A great setting, fair prices. Beautiful landscape out front. Driving range doesn't seem too packed. Bar is okay, too. Nothing special, but useful. read more

Forest Hills is set way outside of Hillsboro, and is a kind of old fashioned rustic course. This is definitely not Pebble Beach, but it's a fun place to play and it's inexpensive. Really small pro shop, no resale to speak of, and carts are available (although we walked). read more

I have gone out to play golf a number of times and have had a great experiences. The staff there goes out of their way to provide that local small town feel and it gives you this sense of tranquility that continues out to the course. They layout is challenging but still fun at the same time. There are a few par 5's that are reachable with long drives and a variety of holes offer elevation changes to increase the level of difficulty and promote the views from around the course. After my rounds i always enjoy a cold beer from their list of microbrews and the staff is always top notch. I have played a bunch of courses in the area and Forest Hills remains my favorite because of the variation of holes, friendly staff, and excellent conditions. I would recommend this course to anyone that is either visiting or local as it offers a design and level of difficulty for all levels of play. I would suggest a flat screen in the bar area to compliment the large one but maybe in the future. Hotdogs are perfect blend of spice and flavor to compliment a hungry boy after a round of 18. ALl in all I leave Forest Hills each round with a sense of happiness and few hours away from the hustle and bustle of the real world grind. I will continue to play out there and suggest it to friends. read more

Don't be fooled by the big trees. This course is cheap. The bathrooms wreak of urine and everything is old and decrepit. Good luck trying to think over the sound of the mowers running at jetliner decibels. read more

I stopped in 6/12 for a quick round. Paid $44w/cart. I made the mistake of playing early morning golf as I had to put up with mowers, unmoved greens, wet fairways and the sun right in my eyes for about 6 holes. There are some tricky hole designs that border on ridiculous (#17 fairway drops down to the 150 marker and then you have an 60 ft uphill approach to a green perched on the side of hill. ???? You can appreciate the vintage of this course. There's something to feel about a time-tested, mature golf course. The smaller greens, the mounding around them and the bunker placement speak volumes about design strategies of years gone by. It's a good teaching tool to appreciate the "new" designs and what got us here. There is limited parking by the clubhouse, but there is additional parking across the street. Give this course a visit, the family atmos will make you feel like you're home. Nice to be in the farmlands, a refreshing change from the hub-bub our daily lives. read more
