On top of that $91 for 18 and a cart with no senior discount is ridiculous for a course like this. In the last couple weeks, we've played Wildwood and Chehalem for significantly less cost with significantly better experiences on the course. I don't ever plan to play there again after years going there...

The only way the math works is if someone else is paying or it's for charity. Otherwise, literally any other course offers a better value. My guess is the $170 per round flows right to the private side because there's absolutely no way that's going back into Ghost Creek. If you are the most expensive GC in town, you should also be the best at something. Unfortunately Pumpkin just doesn't stand out anywhere i can see. It isn't the most scenic course in town. Surrounded by dirt fields visible thru sparse trees there's no "cohesive" feeling. The water features don't look natural with the sharp edges and over use of river rocks. I don't think there's a single view of the mountain and no "showcase" hole to speak of. Its not the most challenging course. Sure, it has long par 4's and small greens with tough pins but beyond that... ho hum. Most of the accommodations are on par with a muni, and some worse. The golf carts are trashed with old manual push-style brakes, no gps, no bluetooth or ball cleaners... they have over-stuffed but worn out seats and a tiny cooler. My cart was missing all the screws connecting the roof on one side so it slid around and rattled, making lots of noise the whole round. I've never seen that at redtail or even killarney way back when they were $8 a round, let alone any place north of $100. Be careful driving those clunkers because the cart path has a few huge chunks of concrete missing and broken apart. Again, how is this is the "Top Dollar" course in town when there's more potholes than a back road in SW portland? The drink cart came by once on this hot Friday afternoon and she apologized she wouldn't be back because she "snuck over from the private side." I guess us donkeys on the public side should feel lucky we got one round in. On an up note, washing my face was super refreshing due to no hot water in the main clubhouse bathroom, and I applaud whoever saved a buck on the thinnest-yet-roughest paper towels ive ever had the displeasure of drying my face with. Really, who doesn't want to exfoliate with sandpaper after dropping a couple Benjamins on a round of golf? My inner-city public school didn't have doors on the bathroom stalls but we definitely had better paper towles than Pumpkin Ridge. Even for $85 or $100 all this would be a bad value compared to other courses around here but at literally the top-dollar course in pdx charging $170+... it's a no for me, dog.

In almost every way, they're basically on opposite sides of the planet. My family isn't comprised of avid golfers, but they're really enjoying having some nine-hole courses around to polish up their game. No use bothering far better players getting in a full 18 at the Reserve, Pumpkin Ridge or out on the coast if you can be out there with folks at your skill level for half the time. It's been mentioned before that McKay is by no means easy, and I'll agree with that. As simple as it is to pay and navigate the course even the Par 3 greens can be a bit of a challenge. At least it looks as green and glorious as Pumpkin Ridge back here, if a bit light on the amenities (go ahead and BYO everything). But for the lack of expense and the well-maintained course and pace of play--and clientele that's actually here to have fun and play golf and not, like some neighboring courses, to air their grievances with the world and show everyone just how backward they can be--McKay Creek is well worth even a novice's time. Kudos for providing a driving range that isn't TopGolf.

The definition of a hidden gem. Truly. I don't know where…read moreto start but let's start from when you drive up, the view is amazing and beautiful entrance to a great golf experience. Ample parking before you take a short walk to the clubhouse. Once you enter the clubhouse, tons of cool art/paintings on the wall with beautiful windows looking out onto the course. They offers lots of merchandise from their own to other local brands. You can tell they are involved with their PNW and golf communities. Checking in is a breeze, the staff is always so friendly and accommodating. They have lots of beverages options without any liquor. A great grill menu along with snacks. The course? Pristine almost always. We can't predict weather can we? But despite that- they work their assess of to keep this place prime. The course is hard-ish at least for me because I'm the worst but it's not an easy spot. It's challenging and fun for all levels! My favorite holes are 3, 12 and 17. Once you are finished up, you MUST go have a Bev on their amazing patio. The views are epic and great vibes. In the summer on Friday nights they have live music which is always great for friends and family. I truly can't recommend this place enough.

Wow - this place is a trip and a half! It is an expensive trip and a half, but that's kind of golf…read morein a nutshell anyway, so let's have fun doing it! A couple buddies and I drove 2 hours up to Hillsboro to make a day of the area and started with Topgolf. Never been to one before and weren't sure what to expect. The guy that greeted us was all that helpful with we needed to do. I had to give my name, number, and email, which was fine. I chose an hour and the guy told me that we had the hour and could extend for up to 30 minutes as there was another party that was going to use our bay after that. Armed with only the bay number to go and find, we left the counter without knowing what we needed to go. Once we got to our bay, there is a tablet device that wanted me to pick from one of the 5 or 6 available games. As I had no clue what any of them were, I didn't know what to pick. Thankfully, there is an employee that is outside in the bays to help with things and he got us on track. Weirdly enough, if I wanted my friends to have their own names (to see who won each game), they would have to spend $6 for memberships of their own. That's not cool. The kid that came over was kind enough to set it up so that we could have 3 different names for the games and he picked the first game for us. He also explained how the ball was dispensed, that there is a QR code on the table if we wanted to order food, and to have fun. The balls have trackers in them, so after you hit it, the TV screen in every bay will show a digital view of how the ball flew through the air, where it landed, and how many points were earned with each shot. So you hit the ball, you watch it land, and then everyone turns to the TV to see how many points were registered. Pretty simple. Everyone got 5 shots per round and there were 3 rounds the first game we played. After we got done with the first game, we chose a 2nd one that played a little differently. Much more important to hit the circular netted targets on the large field to score points. I wanted to order food, but it was a chore. First, the QR code made me download the Topgolf app. Not the end of the world, I guess. I found the food and added to my cart. I couldn't figure out how to "sign in" to the bay so that I could actually order the food (you can't order it until you are in the bay - which we already were). I tried several times before I found a login area and it auto-logged me into my bay. If it were that easy and I approved the app to see my location, why didn't it auto-login me in to my bay? Now that I know, I know - but we waited 12 minutes while I figured it out (and had to play a round in the middle of it) before we could get our food ordered. The food was decent. I got regular fiesta nachos and a side of fries. For the price, they are OK, but there wasn't much on the nachos and the fries needed ketchup (or ranch, or some kind of dipping sauce, and they came with none). We finished up our 2nd game right about the time that our gametime expired. The game froze up with 15 minutes left to see if we wanted to extend our game time and I couldn't figure out why the ball wouldn't release for my turn until someone pointed to the tablet. All told, for the fiesta nachos, fries, and an hour of golfing, it was about $70 (plus the tip). Not egregious, but you can get a lot more out of $70 than an hour and snack bites for that amount. We also played just before noon, so we got the lowest per/hour rate. It would have been more if we had shown up later. Still - I would definitely come back. There was plenty of room for more people, although we'd have to play longer to get through the games with more players. Food ordering would be more simple. We didn't try any drinks, but we were brought ice water when we got to our bay. Overall, it is a fun place and not a bad way to spend a little bit of time - if you are good with the pricing.

If you're a novice golfer, prob shouldn't play. I got around easy enough. The fairways were will groomed and true to hit from. Greens were large, not tiny. Course was relatively easy if you course manage. I'd prob play 5-6 strokes better after playing it once but shot a decent 82 (tournament) for never having played it before. All in all I will probably play it again. Isn't on my never play again list, which there are a few.
