I have eaten at this location 3x now. (Tucker). 1st time during lunch and the customer service was 100%! My 2nd and 3rd time had not been as pleasant. I waited almost 20 min to get served each time. Everytime I made eye contact with the bartender or server they just looked and kept working. I dont want to believe it had anything to do with me being brown but...... I immediately assumed that maybe the dinner crowd caused for staff to be less attentive but that shouldn't be an excuse. The food is good however, if you are brown or black be prepared to wait! My husband and son and I had a delicious lunch at Ford's BBQ today. The brisket was lean and moist. We had collards and Brunswick stew as sides and they were delicious also but know that there is port in both dishes. My son had the Smoked Salmon, fried okra and vinegar coleslaw. Everybody brags about this place, but I don't get it at all. I ate lunch there in early April, 2021. Ordered a pork sandwich, fried okra and Brunswick stew. The sandwich came with about half a cup of meat on it, in a HUGE roll. The House Sauce was as thin as water, and was absorbed into the bread, not on the meat. The meat was cooked okay, considering all the equipment they have, so I guess the lack of sauce was acceptable. I dumped the top half of the bun. The okra was beige on the outside and raw in the middle. I didn't eat it. I hardly know what to say about the Stew. The primary flavor was vinegar. It was stew-like and vaguely tomato-based with BBQ pork, I guess but I'm not sure because the vinegar overwhelmed the taste of the meat. But instead of the veggies that go into traditional Brunswick stew: onions, corn and baby lima beans, it had hominy grits to give the stew some sort of body. The result was downright weird. I ate about three spoonfuls of that. I've experienced a vast variety of BBQ all over every state in the South, plus Kansas City. I take BBQ very seriously. Aside from the meat prepared on real outdoor BBQ smokers, Ford's does not meet my definition of barbecue. I won't be going back. read more

They were okay... wasn't anything to brag about. After receiving our bill it wasn't too much but I realized the waitress could've definitely combined the sides and added it to the entree instead of making it two separate things, which in turn made the bill a bit more. Most places I go to will recommend the options and tell me what the price difference is, however she just pointed to the sides when my bf asked what could he get instead of chips. I then ordered just a side myself (which I'm glad I did and nothing more) and like I said after realizing it was a bit cheaper to just combine the two sides together instead of having it individually, this left a negative thought in my mind for sure. Definitely will NOT return, just definitely thought they could've did better in terms of how the food tasted (my bf thought it was a bit too salty) and on overall service, bit disappointing, especially since it was our first time there. read more

Really disappointing last night. Came to celebrate my father in law's birthday and it was not good. Meat was good what we ordered but I got a tater and it was old and burnt. So good! As already said, the birria taco is decadent and delicious. As a starter or a meal. Collard greens are good, okra much less slimy Han I'm always afraid it will be. We have been meaning to go here since they opened. Had high hopes. Went for dinner tonight. Monday's are usually calm. The employees were super friendly, apps were good, good beer selection, cool outdoor patio. The pork was pretty darn good. That being said, the service was incredibly slow. Everything we ordered took forever. Seemed like there were three servers for the whole restaurant and it appeared that one of the three was also running the bar? So no surprise on slow times. But the main issue with this being a bbq place... the sauces... watered down thin. Heavy on the vinegar. The house sauce tastes like cheap marinara. As a Tucker residence, I thought to try support this business, being that they were new. Unfortunately, I was disappointed In the quality of the barbecue. Being a barbecue preparer, the baked beans did not taste very good; the cream corn was the only thing that I found sufficient; the cold slaw was adequate; the portions of the meat for half a slab was less than what they were asking for the price. I do not like to give bad reviews of restaurants in my town, but I must do this. We went to Ford's today for our second visit. The first visit, once we were seated, we were told by our server that they were out of 5-6 things, which was disappointing, but we just ordered something else. The same thing happened again today once we were seated outside, they were out of 5-6 items. The server came back a few minutes later and asked if we were ready to order, we said we needed one more minute. 15 minutes later the server finally came back, even though after 10 minutes of waiting I asked another server to ask our server to come take our order. The server did not apologize for waiting so long, just asked what we would like. I told the server that it was a really long time to wait, the server then said they were sorry, that they were slammed. There were people sitting outside with us who had been there the whole time who still did not have food, I asked about that, our server told us it would be 25 minutes more for our food. We decided to leave. I asked our server to point out the manager to me, which evidently did not make our server happy. I told the manager that we had been waiting 20 minutes just to order, that the first time we came to Ford's they were out of a lot things like today, and that we may not be back. She said "Ok", no apology, I guess like our server she just did not care. We walked down the street to Local 7 and had a good lunch with excellent service. I know the server's name but I'm not going to call that person, I assume they are doing the best they can. I get it, it's hard for restaurants these days to have things in stock and hire dependable people. My wife and I both have considerable experience working in restaurants. But it shouldn't be hard to act like you care. Also, after reading several reviews here, if we get a response from management, I expect to see something about how they smoke their own food in-house, so sometimes run out of things. That's fine, but after living many decades in my life and going to scores of BBQ restaurants, Ford's is the first one to start off my visit with a list of things they don't have. We live a couple of minutes from Ford's, would like to be patrons, but I don't see us going back anytime soon. read more

This restaurant has good potential. The first visit during the day was good. They have a nice patio, good cocktails and the BBQ was good. The collards could use more seasoning. Our visit last night was not great. At 7:30 on a Saturday night they were out of pork and ribs. We ordered drinks. An hour later the waitperson said they had lost our order and they were out of brisket which I had ordered. We all got turkey. Turkey is ok, but not why I go to a BBQ restaurant. With tip the three of us spent $100 there. There was no offer to comp anything because of slow service, losing our order and being out of our top three choices of meat. I am glad Tucker is getting better restaurants, but this one has to up their game. We have traveled extensively from California to Georgia. We love a great bbq joint! It came to a very pleasant surprise to find Fords BBQ ! We came to tucker for Stone Mountain Christmas and arrived early for our sky line tickets but the park didn't open till after one. The hubby googled and checked Yelp and decided Fords was the way to go. Let me just start by saying my sweet husband has an amazing eye for choosing great restaurants..... as we pulled into town we saw the cute FORDS BBQ! Adorable , tastefully decorated and very homey and comfortable. Smoked wings are fantastic! portions of remaining menu items are sadly rather SMALL,! Brisket was delicious and tender- but for the menu price, the portion was inadequate , very small. Baked beans are mediocre at best. Fried okra was good. the service we received from the waitress was great, however the blonde heavy-set bartender/owner clearly has an attitude problem. Once the bar area cleared out (the area that affects HER tips), she decided to prop open the door to the back deck in 37 degree weather!! There were still many patrons seated at tables in the dining room, and the place isn't big, so when an outside door is PROPPED open, it affects EVERYONE in the dining room! We mentioned we were cold to one server, who quickly agreed that it was cold- but no action was taken to remedy the issue. We then mentioned it to a second server and had to ASK her to close the door, she reluctantly told the bartender/owner who immediately said she was hot! So, HER comfort was deemed more important than those of her guests; she could have easily walked outside that same door for a couple of moments to cool off- or put on a short-sleeved shirt (she was wearing a hoodie) She then did reluctantly closed the door, with an attitude. This experience clearly told us the management/ leadership at this new establishment do not conduct themselves in a professional manner and do not foster teamwork. Why would you OPEN an outside door when you have guests in the small dining room? Why would the comfort of ONE person working there dictate the comfort level of EVERYONE else in the restaurant??!?? This was our first experience there, and we won't be planning to return anytime soon, based on the lack of consideration displayed by the bartender/owner. This is unfortunate, as it is in a good location on Main Street. I would suggest going a few miles down Lawrenceville Hwy to the other BBQ place. Food was good. I'll start there. I placed a call in order for pickup due to COVID, and the lady that answered was very friendly. She repeated the order on the phone twice so we both knew it was correct. I had two kid's Pork & Cheese nachos. I went in and paid and got the order. No one stops to unpack a bag full of food to make sure everything is correct, so I assumed, and went back to the hotel with tired and hungry kids. Both orders had NO pork. The other two orders were both Brisket sandwiches, which were tasty, and we subbed in curly fries for $1 more on both. For those orders, both of them had about 1/2 cup of fries tossed in there, and there wasn't much meat at all on the sandwiches. Absolutely not worth the $13 per sandwich/fries order because of price to food quantity ratio alone, but again, the food was good. So we arrived back at the hotel and called them to report no pork in either of the kid's the nachos, and they agreed to refund us the kid's plates costs. We didn't say anything about the sandwich orders. So, if I'm being fair, overall I would probably try this place again when we're back in the area at Stone Mountain, but I would dine in to see if I get the same issues with food quantity related to cost since I am currently disappointed at the lack of quantity for cost on this one visit. I would think that a place that's just been open for less than a month would be trying a little harder to make take out orders (especially those) worth it in a time where many people aren't getting out and you're trying to start a business in the worst economy in a while. read more

We hade take out from here today. We ordered sliced brisket, a rack of ribs, beans, brunswick stew and slaw. Included were a bit of all their sauces. We had recently been to Austin, TX. That brisket was our reference. I was impressed by every item. The brisket was perfect. Uncomplicated seasoning and lots of smoke. The ribs were spot on. A nice ring and great texture. The beans were the right texture as well. Not the mushy beans you sometimes get. They were swimming in a delicious sauce with lots of meaty chunks. The slaw was a vinegar variety. Super crisp and a perfect foil for all the sweet, tasty, meaty goodness. The brunswick stew was very well balanced. I liked the vinegar based Carolina style sauce the most. As we live about two miles away, we will return often. read more

I ate here for the first time today and was disappointed. Our waitress was nice so that's why the extra star on the rating. We had two pork sandwiches (very fatty) with a side each, two drinks and a piece of street corn. Lunch came to $37 and some change for very little portions. And the ONE piece of street corn was $6. The prices are way to high for what you get, and the meat wasn't good (as stated before, too fatty). Smokin' Gold in Lilburn is much better and worth the extra few miles to get to. read more
