Incredible! 10/10. I had the loaded fries with bbq chicken on them-- so tasty! The wings were also great, and I enjoyed a hot toddy, too. Will definitely be back ASAP!

You can find Ford's BBQ at 2337 Main St Tucker, GA 30084 - this is right on the Tucker square with free on street parking (sometimes hard to get, especially during prime time) - luckily there are lots scattered about - I often park near the railroad tracks and down some of the side streets. I really, really want to like the BBQ here but there's some quality about it that doesn't work to well for me. The meats are tender, especially the brisket - this is Texas style BBQ so you would expect that. I've eaten here a couple of times and while I certainly respect my friends opinions about the place, I find it lacking a bit. The things going for it: the patio especially during spring and fall. The smoked wings - hard to find them this good. The birra tacos are pretty tasty. If you're really looking for Texas style BBQ they're good if not exceptional. Some of the sides were a bit overcooked but nothing too bad and some are exceptional, like the street corn. The service can be a bit spotty - you'll have servers around at the start but they're really busy so it might take you a while to get a drink refill. Overall and good experience but nothing exceptional. There's not a lot of BBQ available in this part of Tucker so this is pretty much a go-to when I'm nearby and in the mood.

pulled pork sandwich with salad and texas cheesesteak with fried okra

My family loves Ford's, but this last visit was kind of a letdown and left me disappointed. I got my usual order of a pulled pork sandwich and a side salad. The sandwich just wasn't as good as it usually is, and the sauce was looser than normal, so it just didn't taste that good. The salad also wasn't what I was expecting. It was just spinach with a ton of onions and tomatoes, and I thought it would be mixed with greens, some cucumbers, and other toppings. It felt like they were overcompensating for not having stuff, but it was just way too many onions. I am just hoping it was a one-off, and it seemed like they were having supply issues because they were out of a ton of stuff, and that impacted the quality of what they had left, but I wish I had known that earlier that day because I probably would have just gone another day. I'll still go again but my expectations will just be a little lower.

This is my 2nd time here. I was unimpressed the first time, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Still very lackluster. I sat at the bar and ordered their peach sangria that can be made with/ red, white, or sparkling wine. I ordered the sparkling. It was pretty much all peach schnapps; pretty disgusting. I ordered my food to go. I arrived around 8:50 and they were out of about 4 sides and 2 entrees. I ordered the half slab platter (it comes with/ 2 sides). The firies were ok. The beans were sooooooo hot! I really enjoy spicy (and I mean 10/10) Thai and Indian food, but these were so hot that they weren't enjoyable. The bartender who I ordered my food was gracious enough to let me sample the house, hot house, and hot mustard sauces. I asked her is she could include both the house & the hot house with my order. She assured me that the house would automatically come with the order, but gave me a side of the hot house. I'm glad she did because the kitchen did not include any bbq with my to-go order. The ribs were just okay. I think there plenty of options that are better. This place is way overpriced,. The food isn't good. The staff is mediocre and mildly competent at best. I gave this place a 2nd chance and it lived up to the low expectations. I'd skip it if I were you.

If you like flavorful bbq that melts in your mouth with great service, indoor/outdoor seating, music and happenin ambiance, then we found your place on Main Street. This was our first visit and we will be back. It's all going ON at Ford's.

If I lived closer, this would be my new spot. I was in the area running some errands, and I remembered that I wanted to try it from seeing it in an Atlanta Eats article. I came on a Wednesday afternoon. I lucked up and found a parking space right in front, but I will say if you don't luck up... Parking can be a little confusing and a little annoying. The menu is pretty expensive, and it was hard to choose what to order because they had so many things I was interested in. I ended up choosing the barbecue nachos, which were an insane portion size, and the fried okra. Both were so delicious. I had to take the okra to go, and it heated up perfectly in the air fryer. I sat outside on the patio, and I really enjoyed the outside space. The inside is fairly small and seems a bit cramped. The service was OK-ish. The waitress didn't really help with narrowing things down and wasn't really great with giving recommendations... I got the feeling she was new, but I wasn't sure. An interesting thing happened while I was there. A woman clearly experiencing a mental issue showed up, and I observed the management handle it really well. Kudos to them for that.

Delicious pulled pork sandwich with great sides

Visited on a nice spring evening and sat outside and enjoyed our meal. They have a wonderful bbq menu with a mix of Tex Mex. After ordering drinks we ordered nacho appetizer and the plantains. The nachos were great and all five of us cleared the platter. The plantains were very good. The table ordered pulled pork, ribs, pork sandwich, and fantastic sides. Our waiter said his favorite is the Brunswick stew and a couple of us ordered and were very happy we took his advice. The service was great and our waiter couldn't have been better. Great meal!

It's located right in the heart of downtown Tucker, with plenty of parking on the side and a spacious interior, including a private dining room for large parties. We came around 2:30 PM, after the lunch rush, so it wasn't too busy. The setup is cafeteria-style -- you grab a tray, walk down the line, and let the servers know what you'd like. Everything is à la carte, with entrées around $6-$8 and sides about $2.50-$3, so you're looking at roughly $15 per person for a full meal -- not bad at all. Everyday they have a different set menu of what they serve so you get a mixture. We ordered a bit of everything. I'm a big meatloaf fan, so I had to try it -- but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my hopes. It didn't look very appetizing and the texture was overly ground and slightly gritty because it was a bit dry. It comes with your choice of gravy or marinara sauce, but honestly, I would've preferred some classic ketchup on top instead. The fried fish was mostly batter with very thin fillets, so there wasn't much substance there either. The country fried chicken, however, was the highlight -- large portion, well-cooked, and flavorful. Just note that once you add the gravy, it loses that crispy texture and becomes soggy. The sides were decent but nothing memorable, and the bread and hush puppies were pretty dry. Since everything is counter-service, there isn't much staff interaction. You pay upfront, find your own seat, and when you're done, you just leave your tray -- there aren't any trash cans to clear your own table. Overall, the experience was just okay. It's a neat place with history and friendly vibes, but the food didn't quite hit the "soul" level I was hoping for. There are definitely other country-style spots I'd try before coming back.

Old Hickory House traces its roots back to 1955, and the Tucker location, which opened in 1974, is now the last remaining Old Hickory House restaurant. The place still has that classic Southern barbecue feel with wood-paneled walls, comfortable booths, and decades of history around every corner. Fans of Smokey and the Bandit will also recognize the famous Diablo Sandwich connection. According to restaurant lore, Jackie Gleason ad-libbed the line, "Give me a Diablo sandwich and a Dr Pepper, and make it fast. I'm in a hurry!" during the movie. The line became one of the film's most memorable quotes, and Old Hickory House proudly keeps the Diablo Sandwich on the menu today. After hearing how spicy it is, I decided to leave that challenge for someone else. I ordered the sliced pork platter with collard greens and a bowl of Brunswick stew. Most of the pulled pork I eat is shredded, so I decided to try sliced pork for a change. I enjoyed the different texture, and it actually changed the way the barbecue sauce interacted with the meat. The pork was tender and smoky with some excellent bark mixed throughout. The barbecue sauce was different from both the Carolina-style sauces and the thicker sauces I'm used to back home in Ohio. It wasn't overly thick, had a flavor all its own, and complemented the pork well. Our server made sure we never ran short, bringing out extra sauce whenever we needed it. The collard greens were very good. The leaves seemed larger and darker than many collard greens I've had elsewhere, and they were flavorful enough that I enjoyed eating them just as they were without adding anything extra. I've now had Brunswick stew at three different Georgia barbecue restaurants during this trip, and Old Hickory House's version was the most stew-like of the three. It was thicker, chunkier, and loaded with visible tomatoes, corn, and meat. The menu describes it as "zesty," and that's an accurate description. It had a little more kick than the other versions I've tried this week and was clearly a recipe they take pride in. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive throughout the meal and took care of all the little things that make a difference. She checked on us regularly, brought out extra sauces without hesitation, and even offered to-go beverages before we left. Nothing felt rushed, and she made us feel welcome from start to finish. One final note: the portions were generous. In fact, I couldn't even finish all of the sliced pork, so part of it came home with me for later. Old Hickory House isn't trying to be trendy or reinvent barbecue. It's simply continuing a tradition that has been serving the Atlanta area for more than seventy years, and there's something refreshing about that. If you're looking for classic Southern barbecue, homemade Brunswick stew, and a restaurant with a genuine sense of history, Old Hickory House is well worth a visit.
