This is my 3rd review of this place over the last 3 years. Strange that all my reviews disappear after a year... I come from near the center of the BBQ Universe (Lockhart, TX). There is simply no better bbq on the planet than Lockhart. As such, I think I have an idea of what good TX bbq should taste like and this place has hit it almost perfectly every time I have tried them. I am partial to brisket and Ford is moist and tender. They don't have a spicy sausage like most do and their regular sausage seemed a little too store bought, but still tasty. I have yet to get the ribs because I never have room for them, but this time I splurged and their ribs were really tasty. Not fall off the bone, but close enough that I still ate every bite. I can see a small place like this getting ohad the food plated in a to go box, but by large groups, which seems to be the issue with most of the 1 and 2 start ratings, but I have yet to disappointed with their product. That was freakin' fantastic. And frankly, you had me at the words "Texas Barbecue." The smells inside warmed me in seductive ways. And when I heard the waitress recommend the brisket, my heart grew three sizes. My friend and I sat outside, undaunted by some chilly winds, and thoroughly enjoyed some chopped brisket and some mac & queso. I had the sandwich, which you can get on a Vidalia onion bun or a plain bun. It comes with a bag of chips, but you can upgrade that to the side of your choice for $1. I got some mac. My friend got the brisket plate. She got some green beans in addition to her mac. The brisket was perfect. The right coloration and the right flavor all by itself. Didn't need the sauce, but the house sauce (sweet) was quite good. The mac is everything good comfort food should be. If I get it right, they're using some nice Cavatappi tubes drenched in some good cheesiness. Totally hit the spot. I think Ford's will remain a welcome addition to the Tucker landscape for a while. I live in the no-man's land of North DeKalb, where Chamblee, Doraville, and Tucker all kind of mix together. There's a plethora of amazing dining options, especially considering what's available on Buford Highway alone. I love eating great tacos, Korean BBQ, sushi, and ramen all available in spades near me, but there's something about Ford's BBQ that brings me in on a regular basis, usually every few months I'm there. I can't say that for any other restaurant I frequent. The BBQ is pretty good. My favorites are the brisket, sausage, and turkey. Although, if you get there later in the evening, Ford's is sometimes out of certain items. But that's never been a problem for me. The non-BBQ items are fantastic, even the vegetarian options. Tonight, I had the Smoked Beet Cubano sandwich, and it was filling and very tasty. I also highly suggest the Sausage Torta. The Birria Tacos are always great too. (I steamed some leftover brisket in the microwave the next day and it was much better.) The portions are very large, too much so really. I'm sorry but $12 for 6 wingettes with no side is insane. Then to add a small fry that would've been another $5. $17 plus tax and tip for six wingettes and fries is highway robbery. So I left. A waitress came and took away some of the dirty dishes. 10-15 minutes later 3 waitresses came out and cleaned three empty tables. After that rudeness, we just gave up.
