This is exactly the kind of Southern Breakfast that I was looking for with classic favorites like biscuits & gravy, smoked sausage, pancakes, shrimp & cheesy grits, omelets, and more. Price: Biscuits literally start at $1 and a short stack of pancakes is only $2.50. This is the most reasonably priced breakfast place that I've found. Quality: Their breakfast reminds me of the breakfasts that I used to have at my grandma's house growing up. Not fancy but just straight up delicious. And for the price, can't be beat. The only negative about this place is the parking...extremely tight, but it's worth finding a spot. I'm looking forward to more visits read more

Everything you want in a Southern breakfast and meat and three restaurant. Breakfast choices range from biscuits and gravy, country ham, eggs any way and omelets too, along with pancakes. Great little dinner, hidden away in town. You would totally miss it from the road as it looks like a hole in the wall on the side of the road. I promise you do not want to do this! This is a must stop as you visit Dahlonega Georgia. The biscuits are amazing, the gravy is the right amount on just about everything. We had almost no leftovers left. read more

First timers at the Foothill Grill. We have been talking for a while about trying this place, so on a Saturday morning we took the drive and really enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly and provided great service. Lots of variety on the menu. Very rustic decor. I ordered the french toast, and didn't realize it was coated with powdered sugar (and had a-lot of cinnamon in the mix, which aren't my favorites, i should have asked ahead of time...oops!) - therefore my sweet hubby switched with me so i had his pancakes! :) Oh!!! The potatoes were my favorite!!! Yum!! Took a giant cinnamon roll home on the way out! Parking is a bit tight, get there early. :) Glad we went, enjoyed it! read more

I'm from the city and decided to go out for a joy ride in the mountains. After about 2 hours, I googled "Breakfast near me" and Foothill Grill popped up. I'm so glad it did and I'm glad I stopped by. This is absolutely country cooking so don't expect gourmet. With that said, I had the Tony Sandwich with sausage and it was great! All the food I saw come out of the kitchen looked yummy. The staff, all women, were friendly, sweet, and full of smiles. At 10:30am on a Sunday, the place was packed and I'm not surprised. I'm sure I'll be back soon. read more

While we were in Dahlonega we stayed at a resort that didn't offer breakfast, so we drove into town and found the Foothill Grill. We had a great homestyle breakfast here. Service was fantastic too. It could stand a bit of updating and remodel; or at least a deep clean. read more

Visiting on vacation we like to enjoy hole in the wall places. Good thing we found this place! The parking can be tricky if it's filled. The service was outstanding. Pancakes! Definitely try the pancakes! I chose this place to eat because I was craving breakfast food and saw that they served breakfast all day! I mean if you only eat breakfast for breakfast, then you're not living life on the edge! They offer different types of pancakes, but I went with the original to satisfy my craving and they were everything I needed them to be! I also ordered your standard breakfast plate to pair with them: scrambled eggs, grits, bacon, and a biscuit. And, I can't forget a nice cup of coffee. Everything tasted great except the coffee (that's the only reason why I didn't give 5 stars). It just didn't taste good. I don't know how to describe it other than that. But still worth checking out if you are in the area. Just be sure to check their hours, because they close earlier than a lot of other places. read more

There were a couple of things that caused me not to give a higher review. I ordered the French toast and while it was good, it was slightly overdone. My friends said the coffee was not good. Finally, not all the food was ready at the same time. Would I come back? Yes. But next time I think I'd try the biscuit! It looked good. read more

Good breakfast. Not sure about the rest of the menu. Wife have an omelette with bacon, sausage and cheese. Average. Not greasy (+). I had gravy biscuit. Average. Very little sausage in the gravy. Added salt and pepper. Helped the taste a lot. Side order of country ham. Now it's the real deal. Best I've had in years. Made me think of my grandfather's. Wonderful. Pancakes were ok. No big taste. Maybe some add on will help. Syrup has no flavor. Let's do better on the syrup. The breakfast sandwiches at other tables looked very good. Must try it upon return. Overall, good place. The parking is rather tight, and the building looks like it needs a renovation, but once inside, we were greeted and told to seat ourselves. Menus were already on the table, and our server got drinks out very quickly. After we had a few minutes to read over the menu, hubby ordered a hamburger. BTW, those come with two sides, so he got fries and fried okra. I ordered the blackened grilled chicken, along with green beans and fried okra. My meal also included hush puppies. Hubby very much liked his burger and sides. I thought mine was really, really good, overall. The price was great, as was the service. Y'all go eat here and maybe they can move to a new spot with a bigger parking lot. read more

So disappointed! Hubby and I stopped here, as we always do when we are in the area. Unfortunately, the food was served COLD after 30 minutes of waiting (and there were very few other patrons). In the past, it has always been crowded. The fries were not good at all (even when they replaced the cold ones). Plus my baked potato was lukewarm, at best. The hamburgers were still good, despite being a little too cool for our liking. The saving grace was the pleasant attitude of the wait staff! They were so kind and helpful. When our bill came, we realized that we had been charged for a drink we didn't order, but they did remove the charge quickly and with a pleasant attitude. I would try this place again because we have always enjoyed it in the past. Perhaps they had an issue with kitchen workers today or just had a bad day. So, 3 stars are for the burgers and the staff, otherwise it would be a 1 star visit today. read more

It's a southern diner. Stick to the basic items and you can't go wrong. Hit the more exotic items (mahi sandwich) for a small town grill and you'll be about as underwhelmed as you'd expect. read more

The venue is pretty spectacular with great views of the surrounding hills and valleys along with the vineyards as the hang of the side of the mountain. There were two aspects that pushed my opinion down a bit, neither are really the fault of the venue or business so I've stayed with the 5-stars. The wedding was held in an outdoor pavilion with great views, but during the first week of August quite hot. There are ceiling fans but they didn't help too much - I was sweltering in my jacket and tie by the time the ceremony ended (just be aware if you book something here during the hot season). The second, there are a lot of stairs as you are on the side of a mountain. If you have a hard time traversing a lot of stairs, there are other means of getting around so once again be aware. The main "hall" has windows with fantastic views. I thought the food was exceptional and wish I had taken more photos, but there were a lot of poor lighting (I was seated next to the dance area). My apologies for the missing check in and the lack of photos but I didn't want to be obnoxious at a wedding. Overall I love the rustic charm of this place and plan to return and more fully explore the wine offerings. The top one is covered with ceiling fans. With the threat of storms this afternoon, I chose to sit there. The view here is absolutely stunning- I can see several other mountains and the storms in the distance. The friendly host us at the register reviewed some wines with me so I chose the Plenitude. It's a blend of steel aged Chardonnay with voignier. It's crisp and perfect for a hot summer day. If you are in the area for an event or a weekend or an overnight, I highly recommend visiting both Mountain Vineyards and Winery.

First off thank you to our server Mattie for taking great care of us throughout our dinning experience. We started off our meal with the Mac and Cheese bites Mattie suggested and they were delicious. Then we moved on to our main courses. I went with the All American Chili Burger and fries that were very good. My better half went for the turkey burger and pasta salad enjoying every bite. We highly recommend you stop in and give this hidden gem a try. No pun intended it was a mining town at one time. The atmosphere was a great local vibe. We will be back.

It was then that my lady, whose eye is ever quick to perceive an establishment of promise, espied Riverside Tavern. I turned our carriage about or rather, our modern conveyance and resolved that brunch should be taken there instead. I confess to a moment of quiet amusement upon arriving. To station a Tesla amidst a gathering of gleaming motorcycles before what appeared to be a public house frequented by gentlemen of the road was rather like arriving at a fox hunt astride a mechanical curiosity. Yet no soul appeared troubled by the incongruity, and we entered with rather a hearty welcome. The establishment possessed that rare and enviable quality which no fashionable decorator may contrive, authenticity. Sturdy timber floors bore the marks of countless visitors, rustic ornaments adorned the walls with unpretentious pride, and the air was filled with the easy familiarity of regular patrons. Throughout our meal, motorcyclists came and departed with quiet regularity, lending the house a lively yet comfortable character. For my own luncheon, I selected the pulled pork accompanied by french fries, baked beans, and a cup of black coffee. It is not my custom to order beans, for they are too often treated as a mere accompaniment of little consequence. Yet this seemed precisely the sort of Southern establishment wherein such a humble dish would receive the respect it deserves. My confidence was rewarded. The beans were rich and savoury, the pork tender and abundantly satisfying, whilst the potatoes were crisp and well prepared. The coffee, served without embellishment, provided the perfect conclusion to a meal that restored both body and spirit before our day's travels. My lady, to my considerable surprise, elected to partake of chicken tenders, a selection most unlike her usual order. They arrived golden of crust and pleasingly crisp, proving that simple fare, when honestly prepared, requires neither flourish nor refinement to delight the palate. We lingered over our coffee, conversing at leisure whilst observing the steady procession of motorcyclists through the tavern's doors. There was no haste imposed upon us, nor any affectation in the establishment's manner. It sought not to impress by novelty, but rather by the honest provision of generous food and warm hospitality. One is occasionally reminded that the most memorable meals are seldom those long anticipated or meticulously arranged. More often they are discovered by happy accident, prompted by a passing remark and a willingness to alter one's course. Such was our experience at Riverside Tavern, a fortuitous diversion that rewarded us with excellent fare, and the quiet satisfaction of having found a place which reflects southern hospitality.
