Awesome Chinese takeout spot! We ordered just a few things to try, including the egg foo yung and the crab rangoons. The egg foo yung was very good and the gravy served with it was the perfect consistency and flavor. Crab rangoons were just okay, mostly crispy edges and very little cream cheese and crab filling. Foon's has been a place I've wanted to try for some time. I've always heard that their food is good. I'm finally trying it. I checked in with yelp and there was a special offer and to my surprise the restaurant honored it. It was $2 off $15 or more or $4 off 25 or more. I save $2 thank you yelp and Foon's. The restaurant is small with a couple of tables to eat in. The restaurant is fairly clean. The customer service is great. They were very informative about our order time. When our order was ready a nice young lady brought it out to us. We ordered Shrimp egg foo young, large shrimp fried rice with an order of chicken wings. I have eaten from here in the past, and while never stellar, last night was the worst! My spring rolls were so greasy I had to wash my hands. After so much great word of mouth and solid friend reviews I checked Foon's out after a brew at Pleasure House Brewing. I think I had visited once years ago, but recall no details. The location is across from West Minister Canterbury in a strip with Pleasure House Brewing. It's been there for years. Parking can be tricky at high peak evening and weekends. However, in most cases you will locate a spot. Since this strip is shared with Shore Drive Barber Shop I'm usually here once a month. I have found in the past and again today the lot and walks to be clear of debris. Upon opening the door I was greeted John who I later found out was the owner. He smiled and was prepared to take my order. After reviewing the menu and finding the prices quite reasonable I decided on the sweet and sour pork with fried rice. Drinks are bottled only. The dining area is tiny as they mainly do take-out. Two tables and no public restroom. Overall clean, but indeed of fresh paint. Evidently they have little storage and boxes are stacked in a corner. The business is operated by two staff. Foon's will also deliver in a 5 mile radius. The business has seen a lot more traffic with the addition of Pleasure House Brewery a few doors down. Staff will happily walk your order down while you enjoy a beer. My order was out in around 10-12 minutes and served to go which is the case if your eating in, or not. With no public restrooms I think they are required to do so. The portion size was nice, the food hot and tasty. The rice was delicious. Every order comes with a fortune cookie. Hells yeah! As a native east coaster who was stationed on the west coast for 6 years... it was fantastic to have proper east coast Chinese food again! I went to Yelp to find somewhere to get her some egg drop soup as that was the only thing that sounded good after her serious illness. The Yelp community did not let us down! The owner was so very helpful when she heard why I was there. She fixed the soup in a way to make it easier for her to eat and set us up with everything we needed in the hotel room! I had takeout here while visiting my brother who is a regular. We have the Rangoon, General T's chicken, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef and Chicken Lo Mein with hot and sour soup and pork fried rice. Everything was tasty. The soup was rich and hearty (not really thin like some Chinese places), the Mongolian beef was the big winner for me. The quality of the beef was significantly better than I expected. The sesame chicken was good but nothing too special. The Gen T's chicken was just the right amount of spice for my wife who doesn't like spicy food and enough to satisfy me although I wouldn't mind a clock hotter. I asked if he had a spicy scallop dish and he said he could make it spicy. I got that and Pork Fried Rice and Chicken Teriyaki and an egg roll. It was all ready fast. It pains me that I have to review this place so harsh. 2 only because the food is that of take out quality. .. everything else... not so much. We ordered delivery and the wait was 30 mins.. not too bad, tired from work didn't want to drive the 5 mins.. yes lazy, but that's what delivery is for. I ordered pork fried rice and shrimp egg foo young. It came out really fast and was hot when I got home. I was pleasantly surprised that when I opened the bag, the egg foo young was wrapped to avoid spillage. None of the gravy spilled in my car or the bag. Siri recommended foons to me and I tried it out. Honestly I don't expect much as far as a Chinese takeout place standing out above others. Sometimes a place is a little better but it's usually the same stuff wherever you go. Foons really is different. It's very good I'd put it up against any takeout spot I've ever had.
