This was a last minute dinner plan, and given the great rating, I wanted to check it out. The menu is simple, and pizza is its star. We got the Goodness Gracious pizza, with a side of hot honey, and the combo was divine. However, it took over 30 minutes for the pizza to come out. And when it did come out, the pizza itself was lukewarm--as if it had been sitting out for a while. (I also saw that a table that was sat after us got their pizza first.) I liked the decor and the fact that there is bar seating in addition to tables. While I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here, it was a solid choice for a nice meal.

This spot has an impressive and well-deserved 4.8 stars, and since we rarely make it to downtown Dallas, I was excited to give it a try. I was actually in the area visiting a needlepoint store and needed a good lunch nearby. A bookmark led me here, and it turned out to be the best choice I could have made. One quick note: the lunch menu I found online did not match exactly what was available today, so check out my photo if you want the most up-to-date version. I had my eye on the club sandwich because it included the magic ingredient: pork belly!!!! That decision paid off big time. This sandwich easily ranks in my top three sandwiches in Dallas so far. It was absolutely spectacular. Whatever is in that aioli deserves its own round of applause. I also tried the chicken lemon rice soup. The flavor was nice, but it would have been even better if it had been served hotter. Still, the sandwich more than made up for it, and I will be dreaming about it for a long time. The pizzas at another table looked really good too. Service was friendly and efficient, and the bathrooms were clean. All in all, this place is definitely worth a stop when you find yourself downtown. And they happily validate parking in for the garage in the building.

Goodness Gracious

Incredible + unique pizza. Waited weeks to try it because the Friday night steak special is so good that I didn't want to order anything else. Now I order the pepp in your step and goodness gracious regularly. All around great service and experience.

I really appreciate what Fond is introducing to the growing neighborhood of Downtown Dallas. In the midst of corporations deciding whether or not to invest in office space and real estate investors converting office spaces into luxury residences, Fond is bridging the gap between being a business lunch stop or the locals' daily culinary obsession. The Food, Selection, Quality, Service, Staff, and Chefs merge to create a pure breath of fresh air. The Dallas foodie crowd is hard to please, but this restaurant is the kind of place where you can tell them exactly what you prefer - and they will make it happen. From what I've noticed, if you leave here disappointed, you may be the problem. Fond needs to be your everyday neighborhood spot, where you take your friends, family, and colleagues to show them the Best of Dallas. This is what we've all been waiting for.

Having been an avid supporter of Frank., I was so excited to see Jennie Kelley was opening a restaurant with her SO. We went to one of the Fond AD dinners, Love Language, and boy, was it wonderful. Eight courses of some of the most inventive, flavorful food with stories that enhanced the experience. We were greeted with an amuse bouche of gnoccho fritto with guanciale along with a glass of bubbly. As we enjoyed, we walked around and took in the ambiance of the restaurant. We don't live nearby and haven't had a chance to visit the restaurant for normal business hours, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. The guests were all sat together at one very long table, similar to Frank. Once we were seated, we started on the main courses: Course 1 Beef Heat Tartare, Course 2 Smoked Scallops with Crispy Pancetta, Course 3 Thrice Cooked Steak-fry with Roasted Onion, Course 4 Mezcal Passion Fruit Sorbet, Course 5 Garlic Soup (one of my absolute favorites), Course 6 Spaghetti "Meatball" Bolognese with Mozzarella and Arrabbiata Sauce, Course 7 Lamb Neck Pierogi, Course 8 Chocolate Covered Strawberry with Pistachio & Pop Rock Crumble. With each course, the hosts gave us the background of how they developed the recipe, what the food meant to them, and encouraged feedback and discussion. The guests we sat near were all fantastic, and we really enjoyed discussing this experience with along with sharing recommendations for other events. Overall, highly recommend this dining experience and hope to be able to making it one day during normal business hours to try out their daily menu, especially that pizza I hear so much about

My husband and I stopped by Fond on Monday night before a hockey game to enjoy their aperitivo hour. We knew the place had opened months ago because we'd followed Frank Underground years ago and saw the buzz about the new restaurant downtown, and it did not disappoint! Parking was a breeze (and there's complementary validation in the lot beneath the building), and the restaurant's entrance was very easy to find. Fond is a very cute space and I really liked the ambience while we perused the menu and figured out what we wanted to order. We ended up getting three apps (the carrot, the octopus, and the fried olives), as well as the Better Half pizza to split and soft serve at the end. All three apps we tried were quite delicious: the olives had an excellent brininess and paired well with the roasted garlic aioli, the roasted tri-color carrots were perfectly cooked and the bed of whipped goat cheese + honey was delicious, and the octopus was probably the most deliciously flavored and textured version of the dish that we've had in quite some time. Highly recommend all of those items! The Detroit-style pizza was also excellent. Loved the crispy, pillowy crust, and the flavors of the tart sweet vodka sauce, the salty sausage, and the slight bitterness of the broccoli rabe blended super well. We didn't manage to finish all of it, but our pizza leftovers reheated well in the toaster oven and were still delicious on the second day. And we couldn't resist grabbing a cup of the soft serve to finish! The olive oil and Maldon salt toppings were truly inspired; I feel like I may have to do that whenever I eat ice cream at home from now on. We'll be back for their NYE communal dinner and can't wait to experience that journey! Looking forward to returning for other items on the menu as well as hopefully coming for a sandwich at lunch hour some day.

Brownie

Fond's burger is usually only available for lunch but off and on, Moorelley's Tavern comes by for dinner and the best burger in Dallas can also be enjoyed for dinner. In any case, when it's on the menu, try it. The Japanese milk bread bun is soft and fluffy and delicious on its own. The patty is super flavorful, and the cheese, crispy pancetta, slow roasted onions and dijonaise turn it into a party in the mouth. The tavern pie, aka pizza is also delicious, and pretty much anything else on the menu. And the Fernet Branca brownie with chocolate mint ice cream - oh my, heaven. Chefs Brandon Moore and Jennie Kelley can turn the simplest dishes into deliciousness!

This place is going to explode soon and rightfully so! Came for a quick lunch today after reading the review in D magazine. Weather was perfect so enjoyed the time walking downtown to this lovely building full of great foodie options. Service- OUTSTANDING! Our waitress was amazing and did her job exceptionally well plus had a great attitude.....so rare these days. We even met one of the owners and served by the chef. Top to bottom chef's kiss Atmosphere- really great vibes, music, open floor plan full of windows. Cute patio area too Food- Wow. The mortadella sandwich is everything described in the glowing article in D magazine. My BF is a big fan of that sandwich. He is Italian and is from NJ, so sandwiches are a pretty big deal. He was wow'd for sure! I was too! I had the Tower club with turkey and pork belly and deliciousness....amazing. We both enjoyed the lemon chicken orzo soup very much!! Highly recommend the soft serve and olive oil drizzle....trust, you be a convert too. Live a little Please go and try because locally owned delicious spots like this cool place are rare, and almost extinct downtown. Look forward to returning and trying the appertif hour which involves their pizza...all bread and dough is made in house. Another reason why this place is exceptional.....the head chef himself takes baking the bread seriously. Good bread is an art and essential in elevation of any kind involving a sandwich. Go TRUST Thank me later

It was a little later in the evening so the patio service was a bit slow. But, our server was very friendly. We split their caesar salad as an appetizer. It was one of the best caesar salads that I have had. The pickled capers were a nice touch and the focaccia croutons were delicious. For our pizzas we selected the vodka pizza and cacio e pepperoni. Both were pretty solid. There are several more that I would be interested in trying in the future, as well. They also offer a "pup pizza" if you bring your furry friend. We recently moved here from California, so every restaurant we try is a first-time experience for us -- and Sean set the bar incredibly high. From the moment we sat down, he ensured that we were taken care of with a level of attentiveness and professionalism that is genuinely rare to find. Sean knows the menu inside and out -- from cocktails to entrées -- and every recommendation he made was spot on. We trusted his guidance completely, and he did not let us down. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, he never missed a beat. He checked on us consistently without ever being intrusive, anticipated our needs before we even voiced them, and made our date night feel truly special. We usually aren't the type to leave reviews, but this one felt absolutely well-deserved. While the entire staff was kind, Sean is absolutely an asset to Pizzana. His knowledge, energy, and impeccable service transformed our first visit into one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. He is the kind of server who makes you look forward to returning -- and we definitely will be back because of him. Highly recommend asking for Sean. He is definitely a rockstar.

Our standard order is a large three topping with pepperoni, real Italian sausage and onions. You've got to try onions as that touch of sweet helps with all the savory flavors. We always include a side salad with their homemade blue cheese dressing for a small charge $2.55! You've can also purchase their homemade salad dressings by the pint or quart. The pizza takes a minute to get made so the salad calms our appetite. I swear it's cheaper to get a glass of their house wine than to get a glass of tea so don't hesitate to order. This place is a definite bargain on many items. Now the pizza is just spectacular. The Italian sausage is the real thing that has been sliced from the links not the sausage "turds" you get with fast food pizza. The crust is perfectly yeasty and the thickness on the medium side. They also serve on a rack at the table to keep the crust fresh. Since we order a large it is a knife and fork pizza with the heavy cheese and toppings. Another favorite dish is their lasagna. I've lost count how many times I've ordered at the restaurant and to go. It comes with a choice of salad or minestrone soup. The soup is homemade and simply the best warming dish - a hug in a bowl loaded with veggies. Service is always friendly. The murals of Italian scenes and the wine bottles hanging from the ceiling add a fun touch. Just don't forget to try the pizza and you won't have regrets. The Brussels sprouts were especially delicious, and I would absolutely order them again. They were well-seasoned and paired perfectly with the ricotta cheese, and during Happy Hour all appetizers were $2 off, which was a nice bonus. We also took advantage of the $10 Happy Hour Margarita Pizza, along with a couple of pizzas not included in the deal like the Truffle Shuffle and the Honey Bastard. All of them were solid and flavorful choices. The food came out quickly, the restaurant was clean, and the service was great. Our server, Emma, took excellent care of us and explained their authentic pizza style: a thin, crunchy crust with a perfectly chewy inside. I'm giving this a solid 4 stars instead of 5 simply because while everything was very good, nothing quite wowed me enough to push it into "must-have, can't-stop-thinking-about-it" territory. Still, it's a great spot with good food, good service, and a worthwhile Happy Hour.

Pricey poisoning nightmare!…read more What was supposed to be a fancy celebratory night out ($725 with tip) at Drake's for my MIL's birthday ended with one of our family members in the ER and another 2 attached to the toilet (including my 72 MIL). This was roughly 6 hours after consuming seafood from this establishment. The frustrating part is we actually sent one of the 2 dishes back reporting to staff it had a strange odor/taste and was told we weren't familiar with lobster taste (being from NY this is untrue). My MIL was too embarrassed to send hers back so she ate her entire plate and my husband had about 1/4 of his before exchanging it for an alternate dish. As an emergency service provider I fully understand medical incidents like this can happen anywhere, but what prompted this review was way the situation was handled following my reporting. After reporting the incident to management we were met with what felt like an aggressive line of questioning about the members of our medical team and related details. I was told the incident would be escalated to upper management and the team would reach back out, but this never happened, even after a follow-up email. So, it's safe to say after spending a significant amount of money on what was supposed to be a special evening, the entire experience left a very bad taste in our mouths. At the very least, I would have expected some sort of gesture of goodwill or attempt to make the situation right -- even something as simple as a gift card or invitation to return for a better experience. Unfortunately, that never happened. Based on this experience, I would not choose to return and cannot recommend Drake's to others.
