First one in line. Great service. Cost is reasonable and they make it easy by directly sending info to the DMV. Will definitely use again. Highly recommend. read more

Bummer that closed 15 minutes early 11:45 on a Saturday, especially when the guy saw me pull up as he got in his car. Fortunately Smog n Go on Prairie St is awesome and looks much more professional. read more

Saw this place had really good reviews on Yelp, so I decided to check it for myself as I needed to get a smog test done. It's a nice little drive up garage, Michael the owner was very helpful and friendly to speak to you. The test took total about 20 minutes, make sure you show the coupon before doing anything else! It's located on their website. I passed with flying colors - owner sent the results directly to DMV. I will definitely recommend this place again! Pricing is reasonable. read more

I have done business here many times. Not anymore. Called to make sure they would be open. They don't do appointments. Took time off of work to get this done. Showed up 40 minutes before closing, all locked up and nobody there. They knew that I was coming, I called two and a half hours earlier. Found a different place, spent my money there. read more

This place has been in Folsom forever. And when I say forever, I do mean I remember them in 2010...price is wonderful, service quality is fast and costumer service is...great. It's basically ran by a couple who are not the youngest so naturally, They are always in a bad mood (considering they make bank) and that's exactly why we love them haha Cheers read more

Folsom Lake Honda recommended this Star certified smog testing location. I came around 8 am and there was 1 car already ahead of me but minutes later my car was next. The smog test took only a few minutes and passed. Fortunately Mike the owner diagnosed a small tear in the air intake tubing and required that the part be replaced prior to passing final inspection. After going to the car part store, going home to replace the part with my neighbor's help, I came back for a retest which was free. I passed and was issued my certificate. Highly recommend! read more

The owner is great. Fast, expert service. He knew everything about my car. He had me out of there quickly.

Awful experience. First the owner told me I couldn't come in at 4:00 even though he was open until 5:00 because "it was a slow day" and he wanted to go home. I got there at 3:30, rang the doorbell per their instructions multiple times, nobody came out. Eventually called their phone and he came out and claimed I didn't push the right button, even though I obviously did. Very disrespectful right off the bat. He started the test and told me my OBD plug was bad and his system couldn't read the truck. He gave it a quick second attempt, insisted his equipment was fine and the problem was my truck, and sent me away. Even threw in a quick complaint about the location of the factory truck battery location under the hood. I drove down the street to Smog It Up! and they took care of me right away. No issues with the truck or plug. Ownership is clearly tired of being in the business and customer support has gone downhill. read more

Literally, it took 10 minutes for the smog test on my 8 year old car. Make sure to open the digital coupon on their website to get the discount. Service was fast and friendly. read more

I've always had a satisfying experience when I get my car smogged biannually. I really like the owner and they know what they're doing when doing a smog test. This is a great place to get your car smogged, if you're in Folsom. read more

Mike & his business has been around for a long while. We only do our Smog test through him. We always have a pleasant experience each time. He's prompt, friendly, and wouldn't rip you off by recommending service you won't need. This is a local business, so he naturally cares about his community. Highly recommend! read more

We required to do STAR smog check so we went on Monday morning around 8am. We waited for about 20 mins since there were 2 cars ahead of us. The test was quick and straight forward. We waited in a small waiting area with 2 chairs & umbrella outside. It took about 10-15 mins for the test and we were good to go. Don't forget to go on their website and show the coupon for the discounted price. read more

My go-to smog place. Always professional, friendly, and fast even if there's a line. Last time I was here I recently had gone to the dealership to get some work done and had no idea that they reset the battery. I also didn't realize that this messes up smog tests. My car, of course, didn't pass the test but the owner reassured me that it was totally fine and told me to put about 100 miles on the car then come back for a free retest. I returned a few days later, retested for free, and passed. Yes, there is a time frame to come back to get retested for free, but no big deal, just make sure you get back there within that time frame. I'll be back again when it's time for another smog test! read more

I called ahead to double check the shop was open and talking walk-ins. The gentleman confirmed that as long as I made it in by 12 I would get seen. I re-arrenged my plans to make it to the shop early and arrived at 11:05. After waiting for 10 minutes the gentleman then turned me away in preparation for his 12 o'clock lunch. The gentleman explained that though I called ahead, he got more walk-ins than anticipated and told me to come back at 12:50. It was very frustrating to re-arrange my day based on the phone call then get told to come back once I was already there. I completed my smog service elsewhere and don't plan to return to this shop. I'm giving three stars to be fair as I didn't receive a smog service and my review is limited to my customer experience there. read more

Needed a smog test for 2003 BMW I was selling and it passed the test. I was impressed that the owner of the business knew so much about my car given it was so old. Even gave me tips on how to repair stuck sunroof. read more

The positive is that the price of the smog check is reasonable with the online coupon. The service was under 15 minutes but by the time I left there was a line of 4 cars. There is a small table outside with two chairs for you to wait. The negative would be the customer service or the lack of. You ring a door bell when you arrive and fill out one form. There is no greeting at all. The couple literally tells you what to do - pull forward, pop the hood, etc. Literally takes two seconds and cost them nothing to show some human interaction. I will probably support another small business next time even if it cost a little more. read more

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. The service is always quick and cheaper than other places, especially so with the online coupon that's very easy to find on their website. Nowhere else I would take my 2004 sedan besides here! Also be aware that they do close from 12-1 for lunch so if there's too many cars ahead of you for them to be finished with you by 12 you will have to come back later. read more

My go-to smog center. It's a family owned business and the Dickersons are down to earth, hard working people. They enjoy their customers and their enthusiasm shows it!! Present their coupon, found on their website, and you will pay less than any other establishment in the area!! On top of all this, it takes minutes to get through with your certificate!!! Highly recommend this business. read more

Came here in 2022 to smog my 1997 vehicle and again in 2024. Both times I received professional and fast service. Mike is easy to work with and does a great job every time. I had to wait in line for the 1-3pm slot on a Wednesday with 3 cars ahead (they were newer vehicles) and was faster than I anticipated even when he finished my car. Took about an hour in total waiting in line and for my car to complete. Highly recommend. Thanks Mike for your awesome service in the Folsom community! read more

Great customer service, was able to call and get in same day! Mike was also very knowledgeable and able to provide some insight on some recent service I had done to pass smog. Would 10/10 return & recommend. read more

quick, courteous, and well priced. Couldn't ask for anything more, highly recommended.

Quick, fast, easy and support a local small business.... It's a win win! I highly recommend Folsom Smog Test Only.

In and out in 10 minutes which was great. Cones are setup to guide customers where to drive up, but assuming the car needs to go into the garage (fair assumption) it's hard to interpret where exactly to drive up to. Mike made that abundantly clear by tap-tap-tapping on a sign after I had rang the doorbell for service. Signs are posted to wear mask when entering, and to only enter to pay. Seems reasonable. I wore a mask to be compliant, yet Mike did not have a mask on while taking my info, leaning in to my car, or while inside the lobby collecting my payment. This is not a debate about masks. If a business posts their business practices, they should follow them. Don't ask of people something that you are unwilling to do yourself. read more

Lowest price in the area if you present their online coupon price before starting the smog test. The guy is friendly and talkative. Only thing to be aware of is that he might close earlier if there's no customers waiting for smog check. Check out their business hours on their website. They do open early so go in the morning and afternoon but not late midday. read more

I've been going to this place for years. Unfortunately I won't be back. Owner has hired a technician that's a total jerk! Sign clearly states to "present coupon before service" which I did, but was yelled at for not presenting it "before paperwork". I get it- it's hard to find good help these days. But this guy will ruin this business by the way he talks to customers! read more

Mom and Pop Slop Shop! Read the bad reviews! Monkeys can do smog tests, but these people don't care about their customers. They are a semi-retired couple who can't hire people right now, so they begrudgingly run this business. If there is a problem they will tell you to pound sand in your ass. You should feel lucky that they took the time at all, I guess. The Story They ran the test on my car and told me it was fine. I submit paperwork to DMV and they tell me it didn't pass. Turns out the smog "technician" (aka The Distracted Owner) misread the report so I needed to come down to their shop again, wait in line and do the whole thing again. (But not on my lunch hour b/c they close then.) They refused to give me a refund or discount- just an apology and excuses for why they weren't paying attention. Unfortunately I clearly recall he and his wife standing around chatting with their daughter and her husband, walking their dog around, etc. Just chatting away when they should've been focusing on my report. These folks are amateurs and they feel entitled to your business. Go elsewhere, you won't regret it. read more

They say they open at 8am. I showed up a couple of minutes early and no one was there so I waited. I called after 8:00 to see what their voicemail said since still no one was showing up. It was an old voicemail for Veterans Day. I waited and after 10 min past 8 a man finally drove up. From the time he first spoke to me he was rude. I ended up leaving. I went somewhere else hoping for better customer service. read more

Lady was condescending and rude when I tried to ask questions. Guy was nice got test done done

I went here awhile back and gave them a coupon from the folsom telegraph. He would not honor the coupon and said that the telegraph was not supposed to print that coupon. I personally experienced TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. The wife was extremely rude. I walked in and she stared at me until i finally got past the awkward silence and asked for the smog test. Apparently you have to wait in your car bc the lobby is closed (even though the front door had a sign saying 'mask required when entering'.) Yes it is COVID-19 times and most lobbies are closed... Instead, maybe have a sign that says 'wait IN car for assistance'. In this case, if you're not comfortable with ONE person in the store then simply lock the front door... don't shooo away customers... good communication goes a long way! Also take into consideration that some of your customers are out of state and have never had a smog test done so talking to them like they are incompetent or a child is simply rude!!! read more

After an afternoon at the Roseville DMV, I had to go home and get some documents. I went back to the Folsom DMV and I checked in when I realized I needed a smog check too, eeekkkk I got in my car, yelped a smog check place nearby and raced over. When I got there they said it would take about an hour. Even though they didn't have any clients waiting. So I yelped the next one close by and came to Folsom Smog, where they greeted me, helped me right away and had me out of there in no time. I was able to use a coupon from their website too! I made it back to the DMV, just in time to be seen. Whoo hoo! read more

My family and I have been coming here for 15+ years. NOT ANYMORE!!! One of the technicians broke something on my car. Not a huge deal but they refused to fix It because my car was older and "It must have been getting ready to break!" It was a $7 dollar part, nothing expensive. Just the principle of a customer who has smogged 15 cars with you. The gentleman owner is nice but his wife is loud and obnoxious. She told me if I didn't like their answer, then do not come back. Sounds like a plan, I am not coming back. It is worth paying a little extra to go to the place off of Prairie City. It is cleaner and more professional. I would give it no stars if it wasn't for the gentleman owner. I do like him. Too many newer places in town to go to and get treated like a customer! read more

I've never had a terrible experience getting my vehicle smog-checked until I brought it here. I brought it in to get it tested and they gave me a certificate and said it passed. Well months later, when I finally was able to make a DMV appointment, it turns out it _hadn't_ passed because of some computer code. That would have been nice to know. It also would have been nice to receive a refund for what ended up being a useless visit. The other issue I had was that immediately after the smog check, my vehicle hood latch stopped working. They claimed that even though it worked immediately before that it wasn't their fault and offered no recompense. Amusingly, he mentioned that someone else had had the same exact problem after taking it here. Hmm... maybe it's a pattern? On both occasions when I called to discuss these issues, the wife was unhelpful and accusatory - saying it must be something I did wrong, etc. and how they seem to have lots of customers that have problems that all happen to be the customers' fault. I get the feeling that they are not used to ever taking accountability for anything. read more

Excellent, organized covid friendly and well priced. I will use them from now on. Teresa Johnson

I went to this location for a few years but will NEVER go there again. I recently changed the battery in my vehicle and did not put enough miles on it to reset the computer. They told me to drive it for about 100 miles and bring it back, no big deal. I left work early and returned after driving about 200 miles. I got there about 4:00 and was told they don't do rechecks after 3:00. I asked them to please complete the check and was told no. There was no one, not a sole behind me waiting but they refused saying that is their rule. I explained that I am a nurse and work all the time, and really have difficulty getting there before 3:00, but they sent me away. When I had the first test done the guy talked to me for over 15 minutes about nonsense with several people in line. He apparently has time to talk with three cars waiting behind me but not time to recheck my car with no one behind me?!?! I did some work on my car and had to disconnect the battery again. I drove about 75 miles and brought it back today to recheck. I took the day off from the hospital to get this done but apparently I didn't put enough miles on it. I would have driven more but had to get there by 3:00. They told me my car still needs more miles for it to pass but they will not recheck it again and I will have to pay the total amount again. Really? I have 7 cars in our household and will never go there again. They are quick to take your money but have absolutely no concern for people. As a nurse of 28 years it saddens and sickens me to see the lack of compassion and just general kindness from people. Please, consider taking your vehicles somewhere else. They don't deserve your business! read more
