I had service this week for my air conditioning units. It was a the worst service i have ever had. The techs did not clean my condensers. They didn't replace my old filters. When I asked about the filters I was told they were clean. I called to speak to a manager and still haven't received a call back. Poor service and Poor Customer Service. WE are currently suffering with over 100 degrees weather with extremely high humidity, and our central air conditioning has stopped working. My wife has survived Pancreatic cancer and is 100 % disabled. I am a COPD patient...... that means I cannot breath in such weather, I'll just die. Last Saturday morning (7am) we put in an urgent request to Folkes Hime Services for a repair man, Folkes demanded for a $700deposit and promised to send a repair man ASAP. The Repairman arrived but claimed he had no supplies available, he left and never returned (The easiest 700 dollars ever). Today is Monday AFTERNOON, July 25th and we still haven't seen the repairman. They (Folkes) know this is a LIFE and DEATH medical emergency and still, with $700 in their pocket, will not gives us a time or date to repair our AC. Obviously Folkes ranks their customers, not as advertised, but by potential sales instead. We have a small house and that is of no import to folkes. Small comes last, even with a deposit of $700. Like the recent Bottini and Central Hudson cases, it seems as though only the Dutchess County Comptroller will be able to sort this out before lives are lost. read more

Danny installed UV light protection in my system. This is the third time Danny has come on a service call to my home, and I must say he is definitely consistent. He has a very pleasant disposition, and is very knowledgeable about his craft. More so, he took the time to patiently explain everything! Wow! Two employees (Jon and Guy) from Folkes Home Services came to my house today to service and inspect my water purification system and water softener. Guy and Jon were AMAZING!! I found them to be honest, professional, and thorough. They were also considerate, patient and knowledgeable in answering ALL of my questions. They are a perfect example of integrity which unfortunately is too uncommon these days. In addition, they showed me how to change my own UV bulb (saving me money). Guy even took the time to call a plumbing supply store nearby for availability and price. I was so pleased and satisfied after they left, I couldn't wait to call the manager of the plumbing department (Joe) to express my gratitude. Joe was just as kind and helpful as his employees. The service tech was supposed to arrive between 8:00 and 10:00 am. At 10:00 am, we called Folks to find out where the tech was. We were told there was a staff meeting that morning and he wold be a few minutes late. He arrived at 11:05 am. No one contacted us to let us know about the meeting or give us the opportunity to reschedule the appointment. Every person we spoke to made excuses as why the tech was going to be late. We asked to speak with a supervisor and were told he was working in the field but he would be sent an email asking him to contact us. It has been more than 24 hours since our call and we have not received the estimate we requested or a call back from the supervisor. Highly unprofessional staff. read more

I Called after broken pipe and they came out ASAP- recommended First Response to come and remove ceilings- and they were there in an hour! Once pipes were visible Folkes repaired them and their HVAC got boiler running - Rafael,zack,and Chris did amazing work under dire circumstances,and stayed into the night to get the job done!! Very untrustworthy and dishonest. This is the second time I've used them and will never use them again. First time was for a clogged drain which ended up costing me close to $2000 because the tech Tyler didn't know what he was doing And said there was no trap when there was. We found the trap for him! Most recent was for a gas furnace not heating above 55 degrees. Tony their tech told us we had a cracked heat exchange and he was condemning the unit! We were told it would cost approx. $5000 to replace the part, or $10,000.00 for a new furnace!!!!! The unit is only 10 years old so we called another very reputable honest tech and he told us the unit was fine, no crack not even any rust. It just needed a little cleaning to remove some cob webs from the flame area!!!!! read more

Folkes - Not a great Plumber. Last year we hired Folkes Home Services to replace our hot water baseboard radiators. It was an awful experience. Not because of the price, but because they did a shoddy job. They had to come back to correct the most visible problems but that's not the worst of it. Along with winter came the banging and popping noises we originally hired them to correct. We put up with it but you can imagine how difficult it is to sleep. (FYI They also broke our toilet seat and scratched our media cabinet.) So, after being paid in full before we became fully aware of the problems, and after several emails and phone calls to them, nothing is happening. You would think they would at least offer a partial refund. read more

Our central air compressor broke down and I called them at 9am on a weekend and they were extremely helpful on the phone Margaret who answered the phone kept me up to speed during the day on the progress of when and if they would be available to come for same day service and they were , she also called me when they were leaving the job before mine and were on their way to my house. Margaret was a sweetheart on the phone and extremely helpful and friendly - give her a raise!!! BEWARE of Folkes Heating & Cooling. Service Tech Dan came to my home and charged me $250.00 for a yearly service on my furnace on November 25, 2020 the Tech didn't put the furnace (stack pipe) back properly the pipe wasn't even screwed in and was hanging upon his return. Dan also hit my relay switch (10 times) to make sure the reset button "didn't have a short" (you should never do this) google this procedure, never hit this switch more than 2 times unless you want to break parts for money and create service calls. I was told the thermostat was broken today after the furnace had an small explosion last night and Folkes furance repair never showed up for emergency service at 3:30am. When they did arrive--11 hours later---Folkes sent the same tech back after I told them to send someone else.... Thats a bad sign.. Folkes wanted to cover their tracks... Dan forced fuel into my furnace by doing 10 resets... The furnace had air (sucked) back into the system because the stack pipe wasn't secured properly with screws.... Folkes will never back their work or service contract because they come to our homes to break the parts and sell us a new furance...The Folkes Heating & Cooling owner told me-- we don't need (you) we have 2000 other customers.. My yearly service maintenance was $250.00 dollars. Let me add thats 125 dollars more than any other company.. Dan wanted to replace the oil pump $500.00, thermostat repair $300 beside payment for today's service call which I refused to pay for....Besides on November 25, 2020 the furance was inspected and serviced every part... But-- my furance--just happened to have a (small explosion) from poor service. Bottom-line---Folkes Heating and Cooling wanted me to buy a new furance.... When- I called and asked for a copy-- The office girl (Wanda) sends me a new copy with just lines as signatures. I originally signed this agreement electronically.. The agreement is double typed so you have no idea what's covered.. Folkes told me 15% off repairs they didn't even honor anything they stated was in the service contract.... Today is Dec 3, 2020. I CALLED them at 3:30 am no tech ever came.. I asked to have a different tech-- to receive a fresh opinion--they agreed but than sent Dan back to my home to try to convince me to buy new replacement parts or a new furance.... Trying to convince me-- how honest he is... My tech was Dan Bien-Aime. He showed up 12am and never even signed the service ticket. His boss was in a his wireless ear piece coaching him through the service and my anger... I would never do business with FOLKES HEATING again.. Not because the tech, made is a born liar, because the owner was disrespectful and has no communication skills... The whole experience just a nightmare. Folkes has poor customer service and the owner has no class, besides being a rude narcissistic (animal) on the phone... Did--- I raise my voice-- (yes-- I did)-- but don't disrespect (me)-- when I'm the customer and your ripping me off.. Women aren't fools and we know a con-artist-- when their in front of us.. The owner of Folkes Heating & Cooling----will never back his service contract or work or lack of it.... . FOLKES HEATING & COOLING HAS a service agreement that's better to wipe "pooh" with...... I asked Folkes Heating & Cooling tech to leave my home and take his bullshit with him. Dan is a createtive tech guy and will sell you the moon, with his polite deamor as he messes with your furance... I hired All Seasons Furance today to come and check my system.. They fixed the stack pipe and reset the thermostat-and found no other problems with the system.... Besides the system was full of air.. Never bled.. The stack pipe still wasn't fixed after Dan left.. I have before and after photos. Folkes Heating & Cooling scammers Buyer beware!!! Stand next to the service techs-- when they do a service call.... Watch a YouTube video before these techs service your furnace and take "good parts" out of a working system. I'm so disappointed . Back in October of 2018 we had an Central air and heat pump system installed in our home by Folkes. Their Salesman came to our house, explained the system he was allegedly installing our in home. Specifically discussing the 'energy efficiency' of it and how it all worked. The install went ok. There was a few scratches made in the crown moudling, they even dropped their drill and put a hole in my floor. I texted Their salesman about it but ended up just letting it go. Later during the summer of 2019 I recalled how The salesman discussing how the system would work, that it would throttle up and throttle down depending on how hot it was in the house. While the machine may stay on longer it helps to maintain even cooling in the house but that's not what I heard or saw the system doing. As time went by I was listening more to the system and Began to realize that the system was full on or full off- not anything that we were told or described. Plus, the system was entirely unbalanced, 70 degrees upstairs and 80 downstairs, hardly comfortable. I eventually called and had someone come out and service the system and also told them my concerns regarding what I was told was install and what I had. The tech came out and said well that's not what you have. I then went on to say the name of the person who sold us the system and the young tech responded with 'Well there's a reason why he's no longer working here.' Once again, confused I call a friend who works at a competitor HVAC company and told him the story I just describe. Before I even finish the story- it said 'lemme guess the guy who sold this to you is named, (named withheld).' What I then come to learn is that this particular person is known for this type of sales tactic and has work at just about every local HVAC company in the Hudson Valley and a lot of people have unfortunately fallen for this nonsense. So I called, I spoke with one of the owners either DJ or Dustin. At first he attempted to offer me a free service contract which I believe, if memory serves me right about 200 dollars. I told him I had to think about it and I would get back to him. I called back sometime later and asked to speak with him. Each time I was met with different issues. He was with a customer, on the phone, not in the office, he would call me back. Over the summer of 2020 I called every so often, giving more than ample time for someone to get back to me and no one did. What I wanted was for them to come out, see the system and suggest a fix. Considering they are th experts they should suggest or at least have an idea of what to do in order to at least make the downstairs more comfortable. But as I expected, no one called back. It's been 6 months at this point and the fact that they wouldn't want to make this right baffles me. I've waited to post this hoping that we could come to a mutual agreement on what we could do in order to rectify the situation, however that's yet to occur. If you need a central air system, my suggestion is look elsewhere. read more

Brother in law was just told there was a bent pipe and a clog that would cost 5,000 to fix. My boyfriend just went over there and they found the clog in an elbow pipe in the basement. Some egg shells and a little grease from the garbage disposal. All fixed. Beware people!!! read more

Greed and lies combined with a great deal of assumption on your part is one of a list of reasons why you are one of the worst companies I've dealt with. We called Folkes to get a second opinion after being without heat for a month as our propane furnace kept turning itself off. Strangely, no technicians could figure out the great mystery of why this was happening. This experience with Folkes has turned out to be just as bad as the "first opinion". On the plus side, my husband called them in the morning and a technician - "Dan" -- Arrived shortly after noon. Dan, while subtly trashing the first company that came out, was pleasant and explained to my husband what the first company did wrong. "They didn't need to replace these two parts," said Dan, adding, "They didn't do the propane conversion right. Folkes would NEVER do this kind of (poor) work." Sounds like Dan knows what he's doing, right? Maybe Dan can solve the problem and save us some money. WRONG. He then explained almost instantly, that the issue was our heat exchanger. But didn't we just want to have a brand new furnace installed? No, we didn't. Our furnace is six years old. "Well," said Dan. "It's gunna take two weeks to get the part." Fine, we said. We'll continue with our space heaters. Dan shows up to replace the heat exchanger excactly two weeks later. After working on the furnace for awhile, he comes to talk to us. He explains that N&S Supply only sent the PRIMARY heat exchanger. There's a SECONDARY heat exchanger that he doesn't have. He doesn't know why N&S didn't send it. And the quote on the job just covered the PRIMARY heat exchanger -- $2600. AW, shucks, Dan. You never mentioned any of this two weeks ago. You said "heat exchanger". No mention of two parts. Again, Dan asked if we were sure we didn't just want to replace the entire unit? You know, pay Folkes between $8500 and $10K for a new furnace? No! "It'll take another week to get that SECONDARY heat exchanger," says Dan the Con Artist. Hmmm, this part only takes a week. I want to shelve this company because I am betting that the seconday heat exchanger still won't solve the problem, according to Dan. Dan left our furnace all taken apart, nuts and bolts everywhere. I'll tell you one thing: if we end up needing an entirely new furnace, Folkes isn't doing the job. AVOID THIS COMPANY if you don't want to get ripped off. read more

I had this service for 20 years and it has completely gone down hill. They have consistently cancelled appointments last minute. Most recently they dis an ac service which required a minor Freon charge but indicated they did not have the Freon. I was told to call the office and it would be taking care of. When I called that said they didn't have the Freon. I asked to speak to a manger and he was not a avaiable but would call back. No call back. I left two more messages, no call back. I have nothing but great things to say about our first experience today with FOLKES. Plumbers Chris and Shane showed up after we had been out of water in 3 bathrooms, kitchen, all of the sinks. We called TWebber, who we have used in the past and they could not furnish a plumber until the next day. We have 3 adults and 3 small children, we don't have that kind of time. We had a good experience with Linda and Margaret on the phone, they were responsive and sent the plumbers same day. They took really great care of us, were caring, friendly and even went out of their way when they did not have to. We will never use TWEBBER after this great experience. On 7/2/17 I called Folkes for my central AC unit making a strange noise. I was told a tech wouldn't be out until the next day. Next day came was told tech be out between 12 and 3 3pm came rec'd another call would be after 3 pm OK yes it was a holiday weekend I can let that slide But my hard start capacitor was fried. They did exactly what they said they were going to do, for the price they quoted me in exactly the time they said it would take. Excellent company. Fantastic business and work ethic. I have a service contract with them...turns out it's more a wall hanging than anything useful. Last year they started off fine, but I'm told the co may have recently changed owners--SOMETHING'S DIFFERENT. A part that was quoted me as $40 becomes a $200 part from Folkes, (what happened to the15% discount, guys?) because "it's THEIR part" (?!) Have never used the service contract, so they're ahead already. Tech rude to the point of being argumentative, office guy can't explain 500% markup on capacitator(which, btw, Folkes installed last Sept, but they say now no warrantee), says he has no information on that, though I gave him invoice number. Unhappy that they went from a great customer service co to what they've become. You guys changed. The big stump technician charged us over 300 dollars for a 60 dollar part which I looked up while he went out to his van I got the part number off the part and the make exactly. I understand supply and demand and overhead and all that but I felt so ripped off and he was rude spoke to me like he knew me for years saying the part is somewhere around 300 I'm telling you right now. Piece of garbage. I had to pay that because it was 10 at night on a very cold January day. He tried putting his folks sticker on the furnace and I ripped it off. I received a Triple Play (Gas Furnace/Gas Hot Water Heater/Central Air) service flier in the mail. Called and spoke to Linda to schedule the service. She was polite, professional, personable and a pleasure to speak to. Today was the nail biting appointment day... The technicians arrived on time, in a very clean, well marked, newer model van. Gene and Tyler were the two technicians. Both very professional, polite, personable and most importantly, knowledgeable! They tackled my service and it was a pain free experience for me. Tyler was the tech who worked on the A/C. He was in and out of the house only a couple times. He took the time to wear boot covers as to not track dirt or mud Into the house. I have three dogs, so hair, pieces of leaves, grass clippings, etc. are no stranger to my floors. I appreciate that the Folkes crew didn't want to add even one speck of dirt to my home. Gene worked in the garage on the furnace and hot water heater. The service was performed expeditiously, everything was explained to me in layman's terms . With excellent service pros, I like to say at the end of our encounters, "Nothing personal, but I hop never to see you again!" Lol!!! In this case, if needed, it will be a call I'll make with confidence. I like to say, "...I got a guy..." when I have someone worth referring. I now "got" a guy for plumbing/heating and a/c work. Actually, I got a gal too, Linda! When they left, you'd never know they were here, except for the bill of course. A very reasonable bill at that! Money well spent!!! We have had them at our home that we recently purchased probably over a dozen times now. Each time they are courteous and professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I work in customer service so I am a big on customer service. Every time I call they are as accommodating as they can possibly be. Each worker that has come to my home is almost always on time and if they aren't they will let you know. Folkes sent a technician (Vinny) to my home during a snowstorm in January on a Saturday night when no other repair company would even answer the phone. Amazing service. Vinny diagnosed every possible problem professionally before figuring out it was a limit switch. Had the heater working within an hour and charged just for the service call. Turned our cold house warm again in the middle of winter. No tricks, no gimmicks. Just good honest service and know how. I was so impressed by this company and Vinny that I felt compelled to write this, my first review on Yelp. Great job and will definitely call again if needed. read more

On 10/25/2016, at approximately 11:00am, I called Folkes to advise that I heard the burner in my basement working but felt no heat coming through my vents. Folkes advised they would send out a tech to respond to my residence the same day, between 2pm and 5pm. I agreed and asked the phone rep to give me a call on my cell prior to him responding because I had local stops to make...she agreed. At approximately 2:00pm, on the same day, technician DJ met me at my house and started to assess my problem. After 30 to 40 minutes, with phone calls to other subject experts, the tech advised that he had identified the problem. Now everything has been relatively perfect up to this point... The tech then advised me that he did not have a replacement part with him, and that furthermore he would have to go and get the part and then come back. The tech, while in my driveway made a call from his cell and re-approached me now advising that he did have the part. I responded by telling the tech lets get go ahead with the job. The tech responded by telling me he would have to give me the job price quote, which was $319.00 + a $92 diagnostic charge. I was taken back by the additional diagnostic charge. I immediately called the Folkes office telephone number, in front of the tech, and spoke with a rep who told me repeatedly that diagnostic fee was normal and always done. I countered with: I don't understand why I would be charged a diagnostic fee if I have elected to have the work done and to pay the full service charge. I could see that diagnostic charge being reasonable if after receiving the technical assessment of the problem I opted to not get the work done... But that was not the case. The tech took approx 35 minutes to identify my system problem and 15 minutes to repair it, and they charged me a $92 diagnostic fee, plus $319.00 labor and parts (part: Power Vent Relay, that cost no more than $30), for a total of approximately $445.00. This was not a weekend or twilight hour emergency response call. I do not understand what the labor cost means with Folkes if they are charging you a diagnostic fee at the same time for a relatively simple repair job. In response to Folkes statement that they charge a diagnostic fee for all jobs, that is false. I had the same tech at my home weeks prior and I was not charged a diagnostic fee. I called Folkes again and left a message for the owner Dustin to call me back on this concern, and he never returned my call. It is my opinion that the diagnostic fee is an unethical overcharge that gets applied randomly based on circumstances unknown to me. The charge is unjustified and smells of a rip-off. This is a shame because I have exclusively used Folkes for my residence since 2005. They have always come out when called and have always fixed my problems. This why I didn't rate them with one star. We purchased a brand new boiler from Folkes 2 years ago. I called over 4 weeks ago for an appointment for a tune up. The incompetent person answering the phone quoted the wrong price. I only found this out when the technician arrived to work on the boiler. He stated I was given a quote for a gas boiler. Well if YOU as in Folkes installed the boiler, wouldn't you know what type of boiler we purchased from you? So re-schedule the appointment with at $40 discount because of the incompetence of their staff. Appointment scheduled today between 12-3pm. At 3pm I call Folkes and Lana with the nasty attitude states oh we are behind schedule because of many no heat calls. Really? On a day where it is 63 degrees. But the part that makes me go hmmmm, is just yesterday when I assumed they were calling to confirm the appointment they called requesting to re-schedule the appointment. Really? You screwed up so now you want me to re-schedule because you picked up other work more lucrative then just my tune-up and gotten my money from a new boiler purchase. So I call back at 5pm giving them 2 hours on top of the already scheduled slot, and Lana once again with attitude responded as though I were annoying her by asking for where is the technician. Then surprisingly she says well you were scheduled from 2-5pm. Really? It automatically changed from 12-3 to 2-5. Then she wished to debate me that it was never 12-3 it was always 2-5. Dishonest, irresponsible, unprofessional. Never again under any circumstances. read more

This company is a total disaster! Stay away not unless it's Dustin the owner coming to fix your AC and pray you will not need them if the work they put in fails. They do not stand behind their work! The customer service sucks. They just want to make their 92 dollars for the service call (it's a bait people), a lot of places charge $ 150 for the service call but what these guys do is to try to get inside your home so that they can milk you dry. Terrible!!!!! Cost me 3 half days of work. I can't speak for their work because after 3 tries they still have never been in my house. I made an appointment for a cleaning and the first 2 times they were supposed to come they cancelled an hour before the appointment window. After complaining the second time that I had taken 2 half days for nothing I was promised 1st call the next time and of course at 930 still a no show. Every time the answer is we are short people or to many emergencies. How could you rely on this company if you had no heat. They apparently are to busy to get to new business so I would look else where. read more

I cant BELIEVE all the positive reviews ...I must be in a parallel universe ...repairman came to diagnose and fix oil burner ..which kept shutting off ...92.00 for visit and diagnosis as was explained ...he told me and showed me the transformer is bad and needs replacement ...which was accurate ..we asked how much and he said 472.00 which was steep for us at this time but we needed it fixed so we said go ahead ....with some trepidation based on the cost ....after he fixed it I asked for the box that th replacement transformer came in to look up the price ...I assumed it would be an expensive part based on the price of the job...on line I FOUND THE PART FOR 39.76 ON AMAZON...he took a whole half an hour to put the part on ...so if you deduct a 40.00 part from a 472.00 total ....that leaves a HALF HOUR'S labor at 432.00 ...THAT COMES TO 864.00 per hour for labor .....when I called to complain ...I was told " well you agreed to it "....absolutely DISGUSTING ....they have a book that shows "THEIR" price for the job and it was indeed 472.00 .....the funny thing is that they probably get the parts WHOLESALE so it may have cost even LESS than 40.00.....I feel VIOLATED and when I called they basically said "TOO BAD " ....I would leave zero stars if I could...a 40.00 or less part replaced in HALF AN HOUR ...500 + WITH TAX .....use folks if you hit the lottery ...otherwise ....stay away read more

A few years ago we had had a heating and cooling system installed by Folkes and were very impressed by the service we received with that installation. We took a service contract for our heating and cooling system based on that great service and have never had to call them except for annual cleaning until yesterday. Our A/C was not working. Our house was over 85 degrees so we called for service on a holiday weekend. We received a call back immediately and were told a technician would be at our house between 11 and 2. It's now 4:45, no technician and very poor communication. Had they told us yesterday they were very busy today it would not have been a problem but to have to sit and wait with no calls from them is just plain old poor customer service. read more
