However, I won't be returning after yet another issue with personnel. For quite some time, I learned that trying to buy paint there is difficult, because the lady in the paint department was very rude and seemingly disliked her job. There are a few employees who are very helpful. Yesterday, I was waiting with a cart to pay, there was one person being helped by the only cashier. I was the only person waiting behind that transaction. As several people came through their strangely laid out checkout area, a cashier came over and she saw me and then said She can help the next person in line. This guy behind me steps ahead of me and put his item on the counter. I said, "really?" Then she acted like she didn't know. The line, and I started getting into somewhat of a verbal altercation. Then the guy acted like he didn't see me there. He finally said, oh well you can go ahead, I told him to just go ahead, that I'm used to this "me first" society. I went to the back of the store and asked if I could check out there. I was told no. So I left the cart with the items that took me a bit of time to shop for, telling him I'll just go to Home Depot. Then while leaving the parking lot, another person from "the line," started say things to me. We had words and then I left. Much of the staff is not very helpful at all, and they are rude, making it an uncomfortable place. Their prices reflect the convenience for trying to support local business.

I knew what I wanted, so John proceeded item by item, double-checking that he understood what I wanted and writing down the needed model numbers and information. When we were done, John typed up the detailed order while I wandered around. While I was in the shop, Julia was helping another client select plumbing hardware. I could overhear them and Julia struck me as knowledgeable and helpful, aiming to help her customers find something they will love. When John was done with the write up for my order, he went over everything with me one more time to ensure he had the order correct. He asked if I wanted to place the order, which I did. He also gave me an anticipated timeline for the items to arrive. Good quality industrial grade paver stones reasonably priced and in stock. Also picked up some bags of quick Crete to top the job. All materials were loaded into my truck by their staff and I was all set within 15 minutes. Looking forward to doing business in the future!

Anyway, they're reasonably priced and super helpful. I didn't dare balk at their $120 delivery fee - who heck wants to schlep bags of crappy mulch and then drown in the non-recyclable plastic. I had a snafu with someone moving our parking barrier and parking where the driver would need to offload and they worked around my issue. The driver was really helpful and double dumped on our hill so I would not have to shovel the sidewalk. Do yourself a favor and consider Aptos landscaping for your yard needs.

Late review. ken came out to fix a GE combo waser dryer unit. the dryer timer was broken by me just…read moreturning the knob. it is a five year old unit. a great machine mechanically with garbage platic parts (handles , timer Parts, and electronics total cheapass made parts) ken came out ,assesed the parts needed said it would take 2 -3 days, called and came back and promptly fixed it. Ken is old school like myself so we talked about how moden machines ruined by plastic parts and electronics, modern cars have the same life span 5 years or less. its great for MR goodwrench repair people, sux for us consumers. we both had a great time talking about the good ol days of metal parts and depebdable products.. Ken is a Great guy. When the shit parts break again, and they will, i am calling C&n appliance repair. A bit od history...before we bought this laundry unit we had a kenmore staker that lasted over 15 years without issues untill it all died, washer motor and dryer heating element. not worh fixing. I "worked with" a SCK&B designer on a small bathroom remodel several years ago. I used those quotes…read morebecause the guy did nothing that could be called work. I went in there with my own design for my bathroom in hand, and asked for help putting the project together. Maybe refining or adding to my design. Maybe advice on appropriate materials and fixtures. This "designer" was so useless that I ended up obtaining most of the materials myself, not from SCKB. Furthermore, he simply copied my design -- with zero changes -- and called it his. When the project was finished, this guy saved photos of the room and, I later found out, used them in his portfolio of completed designs. A room that I designed. This would be little more than an annoyance and maybe a funny story if it were not for the fact that in the middle of this process he demanded I write him a check -- made out to him, not his employer -- for a "consultation fee." I didn't know it at the time, but this was nothing but a shakedown. Theft. There was no consultation fee for his "services" (at least this was true at that time). The income for SCKB's "designers" came at that time from from commission on selling materials and fixtures and, I assume, a percentage of the contractor's fee (at that time they referred clients to independent builders, but it appears from their website that they may employ their own builders now). After I found out I'd been had, I contacted the owners of SCK&B and told them the whole story, and was blown off without any explanation. And here is the kicker: the guy was still working at SCK&B as recently as two years ago. So they kept him on even knowing that he did this. This was my experience with SCK&B. Your mileage may vary. Needless to say, I don't recommend this business.
