The shop is jam-packed with top-quality brands of plumbing fixtures and hardware. I identified myself to John and he pulled out the Emtek catalog. I knew what I wanted, so John proceeded item by item, double-checking that he understood what I wanted and writing down the needed model numbers and information. When we were done, John typed up the detailed order while I wandered around. While I was in the shop, Julia was helping another client select plumbing hardware. I could overhear them and Julia struck me as knowledgeable and helpful, aiming to help her customers find something they will love. They provided all the fixtures for my remodel TEN years ago and still readily helped resolve a new shower valve issue! I was unable to locate the parts myself so I reached out to them. Within days, Julia had contacted the manufacturer and the parts were being shipped to my house. Not only did this save me time, but also a significant amount of money, as the plumber said he could only order two whole new valves. Julia at Plumbed Elegance has been such an amazing asset with helping me design and order supplies for a bathroom addition. I honestly never knew custom order plumbing supplies was a thing, but I'm so happy I ended up finding them. I only came across them since they're a US distributor for Nood Co sinks that I was looking into. If you're doing a project, trust me this is a much better route than online shopping and piecing things together (which was my original strategy!). At the outset, I contacted them to help order a specific sink, but I ended up ordering most of my bathroom fixtures through them since Julia was so knowledgeable and helpful. What I loved: Julia makes a google doc that has item photos, finishes, and additional options (this experience happened during COVID-19), she set up a budget spreadsheet on G docs that she kept updated, and then guided me through every decision. I didn't think about things like how high off the floor the rain shower head should be based on our family's heights, which finishes patina and which do not, what drain requires the least upkeep, what toilet has a good flush with the design I like, etc. Thankfully, Julia did think of all those things! It was like having an amazingly knowledgeable personal shopper (who knows all things plumbing) and a great design sense help guide me through selecting all my items. I've been a customer here for multipe bathroom and kitchen projects over 20 plus years. While they are knowledgeable, DO NOT attempt to walk in for service for parts or questions. I was told it would be 2 hours for any service as they are apparently working by appointment only. Very disappointing that it's not better handled. Call ahead if you want to do business here. My contractor recommended Plumbed Elegance to help me outfit my entire house. I did not expect the level of expertise and obsessive attention to detail shown by Julia and John. The follow-up and "after-sale" support has been excellent. As an engineer, I really appreciated the quality of the fixtures they recommended, as well as their depth of knowledge for the brands they carry. The fit and finish of their products are amazing. (It's hard to explain in a review what it's like to grab a milled brass shower handle that's perfectly machined and mated to its valve stem. Precisely machined parts mean that the handles aren't loose, or made of chrome plated plastic. They respond to your touch with just enough friction to make them easy to control. Precisely machined parts are also a good indicator of overall quality, in my humble opinion.) Don't go in expecting Home Depot pricing, because they will refuse to sell you a low quality product with a short lifespan. And yes, while I'm standing on my review soapbox, the Delta or Moen brands you get at Home Depot won't be milled brass with a ceramic valve mechanism, or have the highly engineered multilayered plating ready to withstand years of anal-retentive scrubbing by their future owners. (Before I started my project, I zipped over the hill to Home Depot and opened up the boxes of their "high-end" fixtures. Their high-end fixtures used to be what passed for low-end fixtures in my childhood.) Four years in, I'm very happy with how it all turned out. As good as it gets - and then some!!! I visited all the major plumbing supply places here, ove the hill, and even one my contractor recommended in SF. No one impresssed me more with their level of knowldge and care than Plumbed Elegance...not even close. I have just started working with Julia on my major remodel. Her level of understanding floors me. She has repeatedly pointed out things that I had not even thought of......at times it was to demonstrate something that would lead me to a less expensive item....but one that would serve my needs the best. They carry very high quality products and I'm happy with my purchases. However, both owners were very nasty on the phone. I'm not used to that kind of service and I always get along with people at other businesses. They were so bad that it caused me anxiety to call with a question since I knew they would snap at me. Unfortunately you assumed incorrectly that my order was heavy!In your words "shipping for heavy hardware is surprisingly high now and would cost at least $20 " is incorrect. The knobs are very small, less than 2 inches long and weigh 6 ounces according to the post office. Shipping them back to the hardware company would cost me $5.40 1st class mail to the out of state zip code you got the knobs from. The knobs could be shipped back in a small padded envelope versus the original small box they came in ( as suggested by the owner of the company that you got the hardware from to decrease cost of shipping) They were extremely patient and professional when I called them. Your other comment, "cabinet hardware is not returnable and that is listed in our showroom" if it isn't returnable why would your business tell me that 25-30% restocking fees and return shipping would be charged? The hardware company that shipped you the knobs told me to ask you for a Refund Good Authorization form and put it in the return packaging and that I could send it back or you could! It's sad that your husband couldn't share this info with me. You are correct about the 30% restocking fee that would be deducted from the $92 I spent. Bottom line is not "customer dissatisfaction because the knobs were too small and customer didn't like them thus prompting a bad review online " ( your words) for your company but instead you gave me no option to attempt to solve the issue and by the way there was NO sign in your showroom stating hardware is not returnable. Maybe you just put that sign up very recently? Thank you for saying maybe I'll return one day but after spending thousands of dollars in the past on remodels with you, I will never return and have taken my business to Bay Plumbing for our recent remodels. We went to Plumbed Elegance after visiting two other stores - one that said we needed appointments (even when the place was pretty much empty - and another that had mark ups that were unreal...) John and Julia were great to work with and pushed us when they believed strongly in our decisions on items such as a pressure valve inside the wall. As a first time remodeler, this was quite the education but my contractors were impressed with their consultation. Julia and John are courteous, fair and will go out of there way to help. This is a boutique plumbing shop with boutique pricing. I found the owners pushy on the sales side of things and adamant about things I believe to be false such as claims that other brands of fixtures were considerably poorer quality than what they attempt to sell you. To me there's nothing justified about the pricing they have for the quality of products they're selling. Is a Hansgrohe really better quality than a Delta or a Moen ? Perhaps you like their aesthetics but I've seen these competitors products working fine with basic maintenance over 50 years after they are installed. All this said, I don't believe Plumbed Elegance are selling their brands at a substantially different price than in other stores. I just think their brands are way over priced. They have a nice showroom and are local which are both things I'm willing to pay a premium for. They are unfortunately faced with the onslaught of online merchants selling comparable quality products for often less than half of what their products sell for. I can muster 10-20% for a local purchase but not 80% which I found in some cases. I do think the other reviewers comments are valid as I do think the owners will work hard for their customers. read more

Almost three years ago I bought fixtures for all three baths and kitchen and appreciated the advice so was willing to pay the stiff prices. But recently I had to replace a tank on one of the toilets. I called the manufacturer and was told they have the item in stock. So I called Plummed Elegance and they told me that my model was no longer being produced. I told him that I had talked to the manufacturer and they in fact have that tank. So he took my order. The next day he called me to say that the manufacturer would not ship that tank to California. He suggested that we should consider a whole new toilet. So I went on-line and ordered the tank and received it in two weeks. And I got it for $40 less that what he quoted. If I had listed to him I might have spent $600 by purchasing and having a toilet installed. Instead I spent $104 on-line and once again have nice toilet. read more

Julia and John go way above and beyond in helping customers, no matter how big or small the need is, no matter what your budget. We needed help on a few things like new undermount bathroom sinks for a specific oddball vanity size, and after I wasted many an hour surfing the web and looking at sites like cheaposinksforus.com, I decided to give Plumbed Elegance a try based on their Yelp reviews. Julia was able to quickly find us a few options that would work. There is no way you could go into Home Depot and get anything close to this level of attention, help, and quality. These were $100 sinks that we needed, but we got prompt, top-shelf service. (Who wrote the crackpot review about an 80% markup? Please!) They're also a trusted resource when problems arise-- our upstairs bathroom sprang a leak and I called Julia in a panic. We'd never had to hire a plumber before so I didn't know where to begin. Julia was able to connect us with a great local plumber within an hour. She also gently reminded me that our homeowner's insurance might cover some of the damages. That probably wouldn't have occurred to me. When our garbage grinder went out or we needed a recommendation for a water filter--boom--talked to Plumbed Elegance and got things done, and never had to second guess their recommendations or the quality of work that was done. My point in mentioning the referrals is that this place is more than a high-quality store--It's a local business, run by a great local family, and you'll get a level of integrity and care at Plumbed Elegance that you'll never, ever get when you shop at Home Depot or Amazon.com and cheaptoiletsforus.com. Plumbed Elegance is a trusted local resource for plumbing needs. Time is money, folks. Don't waste your time or your money dinking around at soulless megastores or on the internets. When my husband and I started a whole house remodel 2 years, I went to Julia for most of my fixtures and to this day regret not going to her for EVERYTHING. Yes, I thought I could save money but cheaper products e.g. the lower end Toto toilet has caused me grief and after 1.5 years - what warranty. Julia made sure that I avoided plastic parts in the fixtures. We purchased from Plumbed Elegance all of the fixtures for the master bathroom (Hans Grohe), all the cabinet hardware and door hardware -these products have no issues and still look great. And since we are finishing the last dribbles of the remodel, we are still purchasing door hardware. However, the biggest reason for recommending Julia, is that she made a great suggestion for my curbless walk in shower - keep the valve on the opposite side of the shower head - this way one does not get wet when adjusting the temperature. Note, the architect never said anything nor did my contractor or the plumbing contractor. This one suggestion made the difference between something usable and something gracious. read more
