I decided to make the drive from the west side out to Aptos to look at the cedar mulch. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get when it comes to mulch. Anyway, they're reasonably priced and super helpful. I didn't dare balk at their $120 delivery fee - who heck wants to schlep bags of crappy mulch and then drown in the non-recyclable plastic. I had a snafu with someone moving our parking barrier and parking where the driver would need to offload and they worked around my issue. The driver was really helpful and double dumped on our hill so I would not have to shovel the sidewalk. Do yourself a favor and consider Aptos landscaping for your yard needs. read more

I came here from Felton after shopping closer businesses based on a landscaper's recommendation. I found my perfect flagstone from a large selection and was able to arrange delivery quickly. We were sold flagstone where 50% of it was broken and unusable. When we called to try and work on a replacement/return, they would only take them back if we loaded the heavy flagstone back on the pallet and charge us to pick up the material plus a restocking fee. I'm guessing so that they can put these same unusable pieces on the bottom of someone else's pallet and resell them to another unsuspecting customer. Terrible customer service, and questionable business practices. Definitely would not recommend. read more

We ordered rock for Aptos Landscape for our greenhouse party and it was a good show. Eric is very hands on and met me out on the lot to talk about rock (they have a plethora of rock.) I say this because often times when I walk into a business I can't find anyone to help me and then when I do they almost always seem disinterested and lacking in product knowledge. I didn't even have to walk in, Eric came out to meet me. Delivery date was set, we paid, driver came up our steep drive and parked exactly where he needed to, to make the dump happen. Let me explain, we live on a significant grade and there was only about 15' of space that the driver had to work with in order to get the bed of the dump truck to dump. You have to level a dump truck before it can dump or you'll screw up the lift. I worked with the driver and we positioned some extra lumber under one of the back rear tires until he said we were good. The lift went well, it was obvious that this guy knew how to drive, all the rock went exactly where it was supposed to go,...not down the hill,..small miracle in my mind. I forgot to tip and rarely forget to tip my help. I'm shocked to hear Phil B's report about drivers demanding tips and I suspect that we have a whiner with Phil B. Good solid local family run business that now carries my dirt also!,....I probably shouldn't be putting this in my review for fear that the next time I want a bag of Oregon's Only #4 it be gone, but in the interest of helping like minded small organic farmers I'd like them to know that the only dirt I've ever worked with that doesn't have sticks and rocks and cardboard paper and all the other shit that we find in regular substandard dirt, that the very best dirt I've ever used is Oregon's Only #4 from Oregon. I used to have to drive to Santa Rosa (that's right 6 hours round trip) to get this dirt. Eric now sells Oregon's Only #4 at his shop in Aptos. Way to go Aptos Landscape Supply for hearing your customers needs and for carrying quality products! I'm impressed and I rarely say that! Final note - The only substitute that I will use in lieu of Oregon's Only dirt is Black Gold. Ocean Forest and all Fox Farm products as well as anything else with stick and wood chip in it should be avoided, it won't kill ya, but it will lead to an acidic substrate (dirt) that will need to be amended with an Alkalizer. The prices are great and the customer service was excellent.A employee by the name Brogan helped us gets some big rocks and with a fork lift put them in our pickup.First he weighted them up and said to go into the office and see the total price and told us if it was to much he would just put them back. He was very helpful. We got 4 big rocks and a big pot for $98.00. I think we are going back tomorrow to get some more rocks because they look so good in the yard. read more

My first dealing with this business started out well, the lady in the store was very helpful and I felt good about ordering my materials with them. The delivery came and the driver demanded a tip, it caught me off guard as I was not prepared to tip the driver on an $85 drop off fee already. We called the business and asked them if tipping the drivers was expected and they said that there drivers are not allowed to ask for tips and said they would speak with the driver. Ok problem dealt with no harm done. The next order we placed my wife called them to select a ground cover and she had the square footage and needed their help with what type and how much. The lady on the phone was extremely unhelpful, borderline bitchy, she was little help when asked for a recommendation. She told us we would need 3 cubic yards to cover the space we needed and told us to get redwood chips. My wife went with this and paid over the phone. The delivery shows up and the driver has our load, well the invoice charged us for 2 cubic yards and the color of chips they sent us are brick red. Awful color that is totally unnatural and there was not enough to cover the space as they only sent us 2 cubic yards. The driver was pretty much useless when I said right away we were supposed to receive 3 and only got 2. I paid an $85 drop off fee for the wrong quantity and some awful colored material. The driver reported our displeasure when he went back to the business and the same bitchy lady called us and left a message saying here records show that we ordered 2 cubic yards. I don't mind a mistake but I'm not paying for another delivery from these people. I have had to bad experiences with this business, they will never receive my business again. Do yourself a favor and go to Santa Cruz and order from Central Home Supply, there drivers don't demand tips and there customer service people don't treat you like crap. read more
