I ordered a GH5 camera off Amazon. When I received it, I quickly realized that it was not what I needed for my purposes. After reading the terrible reviews, especially about issues with receiving money back from returns, I decided to drive 3 hours to BK to ensure my return went smoothly. When I arrived, I was instantly greeted. Once I explained my reason for return, I was reassured that I had purchased the wrong camera. He could have tried to upsell me, but he didn't. They happened to have a FZ2500 that I was interested in. He let me try it out, showed me how to best use it, and threw in some extras with purchase since I drove so far. He assured me that my refund would take 3-5 business days. This was Friday. On Tuesday I got the notice from Amazon, and by Thursday, the full refund was in my account. read more

The worst. I can't speak for their actual store, but their online service is the worst. They mis-post items and then don't stand by their listed product and/or price. When pushed, they resort to name-calling (they accused me of being a thief -- all for wanting the advertised product at the advertised price!) I will never shop with these incompetent bozos again. They are despicable and disreputable. If there were a way to rate them half a star I'd do it. read more

Placed an order thru Amazon Marketplace on December 3. After 5 days, I was notified by Amazon that they had not yet received shipping information from Focus Camera and suggested I contact them regarding shipping. On Dec 8th I was informed my order would ship within 24 hours...on Dec 10th I was told shipping within 24 hours. On December 11th, I emailed asking for a tracking number and was told it would ship within 24 hours and I would also receive a gift card for the delay. In every email I sent (6 total), I asked - "Would someone please just call me and let me know, do you or don't you have this item in stock." No one ever called. I finally tracked down the telephone number from Yelp and just got off the phone with a live person. They do not have my item in stock and do not have it coming in in the foreseeable future. Thank you, you could have told me that 10 days ago. On the plus side, because the item never shipped, I have not been charged. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, every email came back with the statement: "Please give us the chance to resolve your issue before leaving negative feedback, or filing a claim." Hmmmmm, that's a big red flag, folks! read more

Ordered a product from the site and didn't receive what I expected so I contacted support and worked with Darnell who was very helpful and seemed to be interested in actually solving my issue. I received a credit to compensate for the mistake and appreciated them making it right without me having to go through a bunch of escalations, managers, etc. I will order from Focus Camera again because when mistakes happen/things go wrong, it's nice to know there are people on the other end empowered to solve the issue rather than just reading from a sheet of rules. Customer service issues are not always cut and dry. read more

I ordered directly from the website, so I cannot speak to others who seem to have problems when ordering thru third-party shops. I had pre-ordered a Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra from Best Buy on February 7th. The release/ship date was supposed to be February 16th. I checked my email the morning of the 16th and found a message from Best Buy that stated my order would be delayed in shipping. No reason given. Frustrated (I wanted this phone yesterday!) I Googled for another retailer. Found it on Focus Camera's website for the same price, but with two added bonuses: no sales tax (Best Buy charged me $35+ sales tax) and a FREE pair of Sony MDR-XB510AS Extra Bass Sports In-Ear Headphones, which are $59 themselves! So not only did I save money, I got a great little gift to go with it! I ordered, literally, at 6AM on February 16th, and by 12PM I had an email with a UPS tracking number letting me know my order had shipped. I was very impressed. I received my phone today, the 20th, and I'm very happy with it. I will definitely order from Focus again. My experience was fantastic. read more

I don't know where to begin. Max has come in clutch throughout today with my purchases. He has gone above and beyond not only on one occasion but two. He made sure I got the best available deal on both of my purchases. He is attentive and charasmatic through a customer service chat. Who thought that would have been possible? Like he made me want to buy him a drink or something. Best customer service I've ever received hands down. To sum it all up it's like we established a bromance today even though he took a substantial amount of money from me today. I'm glad I went to Focus instead of B&H or Adorama today. Thanks to him my birthday will be rememberable and I will be able to capture these moments with my new gear read more

Sigh. This company is an embarrassment to Brooklyn, among other things. I ordered an OEM battery for a Sony camera and was sent a fake piece of garbage that I wouldn't put anywhere near my camera. Stick with B&H instead of these gonayvim. read more

Totally DISAPPOINTING !! Bought a tripod (ZEIKOS TR59B) online for $15. Didnt match description, came out very flimsy and mostly made of low quality plastic. Nothing more than a toy. Since the store was close by (in brooklyn), I decided to drop it off myself instead of return shipping. I went there this morning with copy of invoice and RMA number, but they didnt accept return in-store (!!!!) They told me that I have to return it by mail! These *#@#$%^ people were just trying to be difficult because I wanted refund! Well, they offered me in-store exchange tho (amazing, no instore refund, exchange only!).. but all of their tripods were way expensive. They offered me similar ZEIKOS 72" tripod for 46.99+tax which was another flimsy tripod, just a taller version! When I told him B&H has better tripod, he actually looked it up online infront of me and STAYED QUIET. On my way back I bought SUNPAK 200IUT for $15 from B&H and its 10X stronger/better than ZEIKOS. Return shipping to FOCUS CAMERA will cost me $7 but I'm still happy to return it because of what I got form B&H. MOST PATHETIC AND DISAPPOINTING CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER !!!! I learned my lesson! PS: I do indoor/table top photography, I take pictures of jewelry. so I needed a very light-weight, portable but 'okay' quality tripod. read more

This review will be my first review ever on Yelp and it will be because i am displeased with the lack of service from this companies online team. I recently attempted to purchase a Kodak camera from sears where Focus Camera is listed as a third party seller. I was very excited. The item would be delivered after Christmas, between the 28th and 30th, and the falls right into a neat little window where companies are closed and not doing business around the turn of the year. I thought if it didn't arrive i'd call as soon as they were open again. Today, the 3rd, they are open and when i called to track my order i was informed that my order was cancelled some time ago due to lack of stock. When i purchased the item it was listed in stock by sears and while i understand that Sears can only go by what they are themselves told i inquired whether or not Sears was notified of my cancellation because they want their money from me. The CSR from Focus acted as if we were both witnessing someone dropping the ball at a completely different company. 'Wow that's weird.' was the first response. Apparently no one at Focus camera notified Sears that my order was cancelled and the only response i could get from the CSR was 'sorry.' At least i got a 'sorry' out of her but no consolation, no alteration, no amends, no let me see if we're getting more, no would you like another item, no anything. Just 'sorry.' I'm a business owner myself and i'm sorry but i wouldn't be able to run a business on 'sorry' and nor would i want to. That's bare minimum BS.Way to set the bar low folks. Well i'm sure my one little purchase isn't going to hurt this Giant but hey statistically if i'm a pleased customer i will inform 3 to 4 friends of the company that i'm happy with whereas if i'm displeased i will inform 8 to 10 people of my experience. i've never liked being a statistic but in this case you can bet i will live up to that number!!!! sincerely- tom read more

I spoke with Ralph on the phone and, while he seemed tired, he was helpful and guided me to a mic he felt would be right for me. He assured me they have a 30 day return policy in case it wasn't right, and was a nice man to work with. They told me they do have free two day shipping, but the other reviews here have me wondering. If my product comes in on time, has the quality and standard of care in shipping that was promised, I will up my review to 5 stars! I'm looking forward to my new mic! read more

My first review of Focus Camera was before I contacted customer service. I had bought the camera and kit from Amazon, and the bag was too small and the SD card was not as fast or as large as the one pictured on Amazon. However I have upped my review considerably as I am a satisfied customer now. I contacted customer service, told them the issues, and they promptly resolved everything to my satisfaction at no added cost or bother to me. They replaced the camera case and the new one fits perfectly. They sent me a replacement SD card that matches the description exactly. Because this is a company that stands behind what they sell and cares about customer satisfaction, I would buy from them again without hesitation. read more

These folks are local to me, since I live off of Church ave. Despite my being a local I do know that, like some stores in BK and MH Chinatowns, there is a markup/no-markdown for people not of the proprietors ethnic group. Mr. Glick was very nice. I needed 400 asa black and white film for my photography class and the service was very quick.

I purchased a Nikon D850 from Focus Camera on 3/20/2018. After some initial confusion as to whether my order would ship on the day it was promised (showed up as blocked on the order status page well after the order was entered), it did end up shipping on time. As advertised, the camera was shipped complete with all the manufacturers packaging and accessories. Everything was in perfect condition and new (0 shutter clicks verified). The serial numbers matched (camera/box/warranty papers) and it was a US model. I would have given them 5 stars (call my rating 4.5 stars) except for the problem I had nailing down the delivery. I wasn't getting a warm and fuzzy feeling from a couple of the people I talked to. But, again, in the end it shipped on time and as promised so I am very happy. read more

As of right now 1 star from me. I had ordered a Sony A6500 from Focus Camera and that came through just fine. The problem is that it was part of a bundle deal and included a $200 gift card. Great right? No. I then tried to use the gift card on a Sigma mount converter I need to use Canon lens mounts on Sony E mounts. When I called to check on my order, Ken, a sales rep, was immediately unpleasant and acted like the item had not been released yet. (It's been available since April 2016...) I was nice and instead tried to figure out how to get my order through. Long story short. Multiple phone calls have left me passed around between a front desk, sales, and customer service. Most of the time, without warning, I would all of the sudden hear waiting music and have gotten transferred. My order was "apparently" cancelled the first time I called in (9th), which I never authorized and was never told about until having followed up for a third time. (16th) To make matters worse, they said I had been refunded. NOWHERE in my banking has a refund been issued and the gift card is now showing as invalid. Currently, I am effectively robbed of $200 from the gift card and literally $49 of my personal funds... All around terrible, terrible customer service and I have never ever dealt with a company like this before. @Joyce, it sounds like you are the only one offering genuine assistance. Please reach out to me to help fix this! I'll gladly update my review. UPDATE 1/17/17: Although I stand by my original commentary, after leaving this review and a voicemail for Joyce yesterday, she reached out to me via email quickly after. Joyce was very professional and told me that they did have the item in stock. (another lie the other employees told me was that it was not in stock even though it had recently updated to reflect "in stock" on their website). Joyce resolved my issue and followed up with 3 email replies even offering a tracking number and personally watching my order number to make sure it went out yesterday. Now, it is listed as being delivered by EOD tomorrow! Strangely, even though I was told yesterday by customer service that my gift card had been refunded and my $49 credited back to my card, it never was anywhere to be found. I tried the gift card again on an item as a test just to be sure and it listed as invalid. Again, magically that all showed up as credited after a quick exchange with Joyce. Hmm... Final thoughts, if you do use Focus Camera, escalate to Joyce with any issues as she seems to be the only professional person on staff and will take care of you. Trust me, I was very understanding and nice from the get go and it got me nowhere and called a liar. Don't work with Ken from sales if possible and take screenshots of your order information along the way just in case. After all, the customer service rep will insist that you called to cancel something so that they don't have to deal with doing their job or owning up to mistakes. Thank you, Joyce and I hope that you are able to get a quality staff under you soon. read more

Updating my review about the Focus Camera. I purchased a $1499 Tamron lens under the deal during ThanksGiving Week, since they listed as authorized lens dealer on Tamron. I purchased it without worrying, I got into the issue when Tamron said we will not offer you the rebate for the lens. I struggled with Tamron and Focus Team initially and lost hope for resolving the issue. But when Joyce P came into the discussion and takes up responsibility for the issue. She turns things into transparent and resolvable state. I know there are time when issue happen with orders but when someone like Joyce P help customers and build confidence that they are there to help you. Then thats the greatest thing. I am HaPPy with the service. Buy with confidence. Joyce P is there. :) read more

Ordered from Amazon , never received item. Fought with them for a week. You can take your chances if you want...:-(

I'm only writing this because of the negative reviews to let people know they aren't a bad company. I was shopping for a Sony A6000 and Focus had an awesome bundle deal for this camera. It was already on sale and the price was further reduced for cyber Monday. The details stated the price was good until 01/02/2016 so I was in no rush to purchase. When I checked back a few days later the price had gone up to the original sale price. I called customer service to inquire and even tho they stated the additional markdown was for cyber Monday only they honored the price online and I received my camera bundle in about a week. I bought the camera, two lenses, 128gb SD card, a carrying case, UV filters, cleaning kit, wrist strap, tripod, $50 gift card and a few other accessories for $698 and this included shipping. Yes, via web chat the customer service rep was a little testy but he gave me his direct number to call and over the phone everything was take care of and overall I am very happy with them as a company. read more

Purchased a few things from them and the experience was great. Everything arrived just fine. A little more bubble wrap would have been nice since we're dealing with electronics and UPS seemed to put the box through hell, but other than that, everything else was pretty dandy. The reason this went from 4 to 5 stars is because of Joyce. Had a few questions and minor issues with my order (nature of the order made it a little complicated), and Joyce made sure to hash it all out for me. Literally emailed me within minutes after I emailed her. She's active on deal forums as well, always trying to make sure customers have a great experience. I'll be back for sure. read more

I ordered a music player online. The process was simple and quick. Unfortunately, the item was delayed and further lost during shipment by USPS. After waiting patiently for an additional week, it was clear that USPS has no idea where they routed the package. From my initial interaction with their customer service (both email and then, voice), I was VERY impressed with their level of customer service! They met every reasonable request. In the end, we had to file a claim on the lost item and by this time, I no longer needed/wanted the item I ordered. All that was asked of me was to fill out a simple, one page form and they immediately responded that they will refund my purchase within 3 to 5 business days. Their customer service ROCKS! I decided not to open the envelope because there was obviously no rifle in it :) I called their customer support and explained the situation about not opening the envelope and that what they were supposed to send me coudl not fit in it. The female customer support representative became very rude and told me that they cannot help unless they know what is in their envelope.
