There aren't many places in Charlotte that really blow me away, but this place absolutely did. Everything about it was perfect. It's fine dining with a cozy, local feel that somehow lets you know that you're eating some incredible food, but it's not so stuffy or pretentious to make you feel out of place. Prices are not outrageous, the service was perfect. I ordered braised beef tacos (delicious) and a duck confit gnocchi (SO good). My wife ordered a salad and a soup... my son (8) got chicken and waffles off of the kid's menu and it was also extremely tasty. My daughter ordered the burger, which I REALLY wanted to try, but I was stuffed by the end of the meal and couldn't. I'll absolutely be back... looking forward to trying the burger very soon. Their brunch was delicious. So many great choices and portions were very satisfying. We split the Chicken and the egg sandwhich and Chicken and waffles. Every time i have eaten there, the food has been fabulous. Service has been good and most of the time the ambiance has been great. My last visit we were a couple of ladies celebrating a friend's birthday. We had gone early because we were told they were expecting a loud large party. Unfortunately, a couple came right after us and he had learned to use his inside voice when dining. I asked two people to speak to him and that did not happen until after the birthday girl spoke to him. He did try to modulate his voice some. Stopped in on Thursday night for a "going away" dinner for our daughter and in a word...spectacular. One of the best meals we have had in our 20+ years living in and around Charlotte--put FM Eatery up there with Kindred, Kounter, Customshop, Leah & Louise and the other must go to local spots. Had 7 small dishes (bacon wrapped dates/smoked burrata/mushroom fricassee/cheer wine braised beef/hot shrimp/crab cakes/chocolate pots de creme) and each one was lick your plate good. Plus we left with a long list of plates we want to try next time. Separately Haley was an absolute rock star as a server. Extremely high quality food. I had the BLT and I swear that those tomatoes came straight my grandmother's Jersey Shore garden. It brought me right back. My wife had the tomato avocado toast and loved it. Just the right cheese, bright, fresh vegetables and a perfectly cooked egg with the runny yolk making your gravy. Amazing food and service! Stopped for lunch and found the Brown Butter Scallops and Main Street Crab Cakes were wonderful. I've known of this place for a while, having been to all the other Flipside Group restaurants (which are all wonderful), and finally tried it. Located on historic Fort Mill's Main street, the space is comfortable and cozy, not cramped. So glad I made the effort, they did not disappoint. Let's start with the good. Very tasty and unique food offerings. Service staff is very friendly . The price is a bit steep for the amount of food served. Now for most negative. LOUD! We arrived at 515 and the atmosphere was tolerable but as it got busier the noise made the rest of the evening not enjoyable. You couldn't have a normal conversation without yelling. The servers literally had to yell so the customers could understand them. It seems like they squeezed in to many seats in such a small space. This is exactly what Fort Mill needed. The food and service was excellent. We walked in on a Friday night at 6:30 knowing that it would be busy. The nice man at the host stand told us it would be an hour wait and as we were putting our name in two spots opened at the bar(first come first serve). We thought we would have a drink or two while we wait, however we liked it so much we ate our entire meal there. Alex was the bartender and she was phenomenal. So attentive and answered any questions we had. You could tell she loved her job which you just don't find these days. She explained a lot of the things they do in house which is more than a lot of places we have been. I ordered a dirty martini with blue cheese olives and she hand stuffed the olives right in front of us. Talk about service. The food was excellent. We will have to go back several times to try everything we wanted to try. Drinks were so tasty and fresh. The cheerwine braised beef just fell apart I didn't even need a knife. Do not pass on the hot buttered rum as it was a delicious nightcap. Everything came out so quickly. Overall 10/10 experience. We will be back! read more

Our server was friendly and knowledgeable answering all our questions and not rushing us. I ordered the trout stuffed with crabmeat which was delicately smokey and cooked to perfection. The super crunchy lardons on the sweet potato puree added another layer of yummy to this dish. My husband ordered and devoured three small plates: the slider, the lamb pupusa and the sweet potato tots. Highly recommend the tots!!
