Been here about 4 times and the food is ok. Well I've had the shrimp basket and once the salmon to go. The fried shrimp basket is good and they have really good margaritas. But they are kinda pricey so come with extra coins for dinner. The patio is amazing on the water. read more

Great find! Laid back place, lots of indoor and outdoor seating . You order as you walk in , take your pager and find a seat. Tons of choices of fish, shrimp, oysters, salads, po boys and deserts. Got the grilled red snapper and it was amazing . Two fillets and rice and beans and some grilled veggies . Daughter had large shrimp basket and some calamari which was all great. Super light coating on the fried stuff which was not too filling. Lots of beer and regular drink choices as well. Super meal. read more

My bestfriend and myself have eaten at this location in coppell TX many times. The food is fantastic, the restaraunt staff is amazing. The decor is awesome to look at. First time visit. I had the Grilled Shrimp Kabob and my husband ordered the Grilled Rainbow Trout. Both orders came with veggies, rice and beans. They had the right amount of flavor. Simply delish! Don't judge on the typical checkered tablecloth fish place that's all fried food. They have a legit grill; not just a flat surface that claims to grill. We opted for the grilled grouper and it did not taste fishy AT ALL. Go for the grilled veggies too-so yummy and perfectly seasoned. Plenty of beer choices, a few wines and champagne splits. Bonus for the hubs: Dr Pepper - "the syrup to carbonation ratio is perfect!" Next... fried pies! Which one do you you pick? All his favs-chocolate, coconut or pecan. He tried coconut and chocolate and loved mixing the bites to simulate an eclair. Needless to say our "protein platter" benefit went out the door with all the yummy extras. This is one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to. I have been to flying fish three times now and the quality of the food keeps on getting better and better. The food was delicious and me and my family ordered some jumbo shrimp, some fried catfish, a oyster poor boy, and got a whole fried snapper. The restaurant give lots of fries in every meal and all meals taste amazing. The atmosphere was very beautiful and very relaxing. With a wonderful lake with catfish, turtles, and some ducks that you can feed with your leftovers or some fish food for only 25 cents. The service was very well and I can tell that the employees keep the area clean. Overall I am going to come again very soon and me and my family enjoyed the food very much. read more

We had the best experience here at lunch! I'm a Florida native, so I love a good seafood spot. Between the view and the quality of food I felt like I was home! Between my fiancé and I we had 1/2 dozen oysters, a dozen cold boiled shrimp, and a fried catfish/shrimp basket. The oysters were huge and delicious, served with extra horseradish alongside the cocktail sauce which is a total must. The cold boiled shrimp was refreshing and tasted so fresh! My fiancé loved the fried shrimp/catfish basket and it came with the best hush puppies I've ever had in TX. The restaurant itself was themed so well and the view was gorgeous. Unfortunately this was not the seafood I was hoping for. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were overcooked and a couple were actually a mushy texture... those we did eat were tasteless. The cocktail sauce is very peppery but lacking in horseradish. Maybe this is just their particular recipe but I've never had cocktail sauce without horseradish in it. The fried catfish baskets also came out very quickly but alas, they were not hot... like out of the fryer hot. Tepid at best and some of the fried shrimp on my companion's dinner were room temperature at best. Looked to have been fried at a different time than the others as they were not the same color. Will not be back... just not worth it although the location is really nice. I should have kept to the reason we drove over to Wharf Dr. which was for Rodeo Goat...but I am always in for seafood. Unfortunately, this was disappointing.... sigh. read more

First thing we encountered was the TX PC code no weapons signage inside the building so not legally posted. Then they allow pets inside the building and no not service animals. The food was bland. The crawfish tasted like it was only boiled in plain water. The frog legs had no seasonings at all. They did remove the anti gun signs when we were there but I suspect it was only to put them up legally later. If we return it will be to try a poboy. read more

Giving them 5 stars but I have not been there. Only because I hope that it is as good as the Dallas location! I am a big fan of that location near Downtown Dallas. Everything on the fried seafood selections are absolutely delicious. Huge shrimp, well seasoned. Crispy succulent and flaky catfish and of course don't forget about the hush puppies! Yummy food at great reasonable prices. The place totally reminds me of my childhood days of fishing with my grandparents on the lake. We would stop at the tackle shop, get bait, get sodas, beer..well not for me but for Grandpa, however if you want a real back in the day of summers ago, then they will do it for you! The flying fish in Coppel is horrible. The fake food perfectly aligns with the exaggerated ambiance. This facade of Cajun food and favors fits perfectly with the man made lake. You have to put reality on hold or you will beat yourself up for putting so many flavorless calories in your body. Genero-food. It's satisfying but nothing spectacular. The po-boys are good but aren't going to be confused with a Nawlins po-boy. The grouper seems very thin, flavorful but lost in the bun and dressings. The catfish po-boy had a lot more crust than fish, again, flavorful but missing something. Excellent hush puppies. Everything seems well-priced, ambience is standard counter-order and pick up, although it must be noted that anyplace that plays a rotation of Johnny Lee Hooker, B.B King, and Stevie Ray is doing something right. read more

My girlfriend and I are trying this place for the first time and it sucks. We spent 41 bucks and the food is below mediocre! I had the seafood gumbo. Mushy shrimp slimy and disgusting! They call it seafood gumbo but there's only mushy shrimp in it. My catfish basket was cold and they gave me an old burnt chicken tender. Catfish was flavorless but my jumbo shrimp were actually tasty. I knew it wasn't gonna be a pleasant dining experience when the food came out 5-7 mins after we ordered it. I love the Flying Fish restaurant chain. The house be in Bentonville, AR is top notch. This one has a few things to get ironed out before it becomes a bi-weekly spot like my other one. The decor and ambiance here is great. It's in an under construction apartment district so expect to avoid crew men and have a possible detour on the way in. Not an inconvenience. As for the food, I had the fried catfish/shrimp/oyster combo. The shrimp were great and the cocktail sauce was tasty. The catfish was mediocre. It was bland and extremely soggy inside. The oysters though.... Good god I couldn't get that taste out of my mouth for an hour. I was afraid to burp in front of anyone thinking I might kill them. Seriously avoid them!
