The paw print pillow is very on brand.

I'd like to start off by saying that if you're in a hurry, don't come here. Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about all the reasons you SHOULD come here. - It's easy to find free street parking. - you can request a latte with paw print latte art that will make your heart swoon and will guarantee your day is going to be 500% better than it normally would have been - the person working here when I can was super nice (and they were working all alone which can't be easy) - the gender neutral restroom is clean and has the BIGGEST cat face mural on the wall - they use oatly milk - they use reusable cups - the vegan breakfast purrito is SO GOOD - the decor is cats upon cats upon cats - there's water you can help yourself to - there's indoor or outdoor seating and the outdoor seating is partially shaded - the entrance and bathroom are wheelchair accessible (no steps)

Interesting cat-themed decor and a creative drink selection. I tried the cardamom latte, which was unique, and the dirty chai, which was just okay. The café seems to aim for a "Portland weird" vibe, but for me it didn't land as well as other coffee spots in the area.

Cute little cafe we visited while visiting Portland! It was dainty, cute aesthetic for pictures of the cafe & good food! We got the purr-ito & bagel and it was good and kept us full until dinner! Around 10:30am it was not busy on a sunday. You also can walk around on division street and visit other shops or walk a short distance to Hawthorne Blvd where all the other great shops and places to eat are at! Our servers were working nothing out of the ordinary. So cool place to see!

I enjoyed my recent visit to Flying Cat Coffee. It has a cozy interior and some tables outside. They have some breakfast burritos and sandwiches with cat names. They also have bagels and some pastries. The cat decor is fun to look at. I had the rose cardamom chai latte iced. It was one of their summer special drinks. My drink was refreshing and sweet. I liked it. Service was good. It was a good cafe experience and I will revisit.

Flying Cat has unique cat-themed decor, great drinks, and kind staff - I'm a fan! We stopped by on 9/6/2020 while driving through Portland and looking for some caffeine for the day. First impression of the interior was that the decor is rather quirky, but I was actually quite impressed at how many flying cats I spotted in the shop while waiting for my drink. No inside seating available due to the COVID-19 pandemic. DRINKS: + Suphalak smoothie (cold brew coffee, banana, cinnamon, almond butter, peanut butter, chia seeds): all of the combos on the smoothie menu sounded pretty interesting, and I had a hard time choosing. I ended up picking this one for the coffee. First impression was that it was certainly interesting - I wasn't quite sure I liked it; but after a few more sips, it grew on me. Strong coffee flavor. Not overly sweet which I appreciated. And it felt healthy while also indulgent. + Iced matcha latte: this was creamy and had a strong matcha flavor. Perfect for a hot summer afternoon. I'd get this again! + Iced latte: I didn't try this, but J enjoyed it.

This place is so cute! There's lots of cat themed vintage items and lots of really fun and comfy furniture to sit in. It's a pretty good place to study too - the music is ambient enough to tune out and lots of other folks are working/studying. There are lots of food items you can get and lots of flavored coffee. I stuck with a trusty oat milk latte. The espresso was very smooth and the foam was decorated with a cute paw print. Definitely recommend!

Anyone who likes cats should visit this adorable coffee shop at least once. The visit is worth it just to be amused by all the cat themed art and objects that are everywhere you look. Aside from the feline amusement of this place, the coffee and food sold here are also worthy of attention. The menu offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian sandwiches along with coffee drinks, tea and smoothies. The seating inside the shop is an assortment of sofas and chairs that seem to have landed here from a group of yard sales. Somehow this mix of furniture just adds to the charm of this place. It is a nice change from all the glitzy coffee shops that are trending today's market. If you find yourself in the area, its worth stopping by the Flying Cat. It'll make your day.

Super cute and quirky coffee shop with AMAZING food and coffee! All of the cat decorations were adorable. The sofas & pillows added a cozy feel and soothing classical music was playing. The back of the cafe has tons of board games like scrabble, catan, twister, etc! There was just one guy here this morning making everything from scratch and he was killing it. I came specifically for the pumpkin spice latte and my craving was satisfied. I could really taste the real pumpkin and I liked that it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet like some are (Starbucks). The food menu looked so good that I also got the ocelot purr-ito with egg and no cheese. It was MASSIVE and packed full of delicious ingredients! The soyrizo was so tender and flavorful, the hash browns melted in my mouth, everything was cooked to perfection and the avocado was a perfect addition. Great little cafe esp if you like cats! 10/10 would recommend the pumpkin spice latte.

Cozy, quirky and good coffee!! Walked over here this morning for a latte. I love how cozy this place feels with the various cat pillows and decor. The menu selection for drinks and food is huuuge, with rotating specials each week. Will have to stop by here when I'm hungry! My coffee was awesome, not too bitter but not milk with a splash of coffee. I had a hunch it was going to be good as the barista took their time making it. So far this is one of the best places in SE for that perfect brew!

If you have to wake up at 4 A.M. for any reason, you're most likely in some trouble. You probably have to get to work, a class, a workout, or just something else generally important and stressful. In my case, my 4 A.M. story was a flight to Portland. You know how it is. You plan to sleep at something like 9 P.M. the night before because you'll get a somewhat normal 7 hours, but then you royally mess up by packing last second or watching dog videos or something and then don't hit the hay until midnight. By the time you're setting the alarm in your phone, a notification pops up saying, "Your alarm is set for 3 hours and 52 minutes from now." You cry inside, because that is nowhere near the healthy amount that you read scientists recommend for your age group. Actually, it isn't anywhere near the recommended amount for any age group. In comes coffee, and for me, enter Flying Cat Coffee. Dragging my feet into this quaint shop with plentiful seating (at tables and sofas), the flying cats around the shop seemed pretty normal to me because I was sure I was in a really weird dream in a really weird and cloudy city. In my daze, I decided to order a regular $2.50 cup of joe along with a day-old $1 apple pastry I grabbed off the counter. The prices are cheap in my slumber, I thought. I served my own coffee and threw in some cream and sugar. Suddenly, the light turned on. Everything around me started to sing out in harmony. The cats rushed past me and disappeared into the distance. I woke up, and I looked down. In my hands were the coffee and pastry from my dream, somehow having made it to reality. I took a bite. So soft on the inside and perfectly crunchy on the outside. sip. So hot and deep and flavorful. My nightmare of a 4 A.M. wakeup had turned into a beautiful dream come true.

Breakfast sandwich was short on products used. In my opinion a little over priced for what you get. Also got a smoothie, that was good.

I've been here quite a few times and have really enjoyed the Aribic People's latte with its strong cardamon overtones, the Chocolate Jesus and today, the Mucho Calliente, which promises a chili infusion, and cinnamon infused espresso with dark chocolate! But wait..., oh no, I forgot to ask for oat... this is probably (certainly) dairy. Argh! Sorry, I have no Viking blood and can not digest cow milk. I would rather battle the aforementioned Viking before I'd endure the results of ... dairy! So, I brought my drink up fully prepared to pay for another and everyone there, EVERYONE, in almost unison, refused to take my payment. They kindly and quickly made another and... oh... spicy indeed, but chocolatey and balanced! One of the best spicy mochas I've had anywhere ... and I am an absolute Spella snob and proud of it! His hospitality set the tone for the whole evening--warm, relaxed, and full of conversation between people from all over the world. One of the highlights was watching Joe prepare traditional Egyptian coffee over hot sand, a centuries-old method that slowly heats the coffee and brings out deep, rich flavors. But the real comfort of the night came in the form of Egyptian Sahlab. Imagine a thick, creamy winter drink made from warm milk, gently sweetened and flavored with vanilla and orange blossom water. Those of you who tried it know what I am talking about! It was very nice to get a beautiful taste of Egyptian culture right here on Hawthorne. Huge thanks to Joe for the incredible hospitality and for sharing these traditions with us. I hope they expand to include a full Egyptian, Mediterranean food menu.

I got the seasonal peppermint mocha drink- all the flavors were very light and not too sweet which I appreciated. I only wished that there was stronger coffee taste (my preference), as it tasted like a warm milk drink with a hint of peppermint and dash of bitterness from the coffee. I do wonder how their drinks will taste iced so I do plan on coming back! I arrived with my party of 2 just before a small line formed, and ordered my seasonal drink and a drip coffee. there were 2 baristas at the time, but after we ordered one of them left(?) and only one barista remained to take orders and make drinks. it was busy and as a barista myself I understand so I didn't mind the longer wait and understood that they forgot the drip coffee we ordered due to the small rush. Upon reminding them after the customers behind us were served, the barista was super apologetic and made the drip coffee immediately. However, the coffee was lukewarm and didn't have a strong coffee taste either (according to my friend). Overall a cute little cafe on Hawthorne, but I wouldn't drive out of my way for their coffee. I would be willing to give this place another shot if I was in the area, as their other seasonal drinks look yummy!

The two-tops are fairly snug together so it can feel like you're eavesdropping or being listened to. There's counter seating along one side which had some refreshing morning sun- when a couple seats opened up there, we moved and were very comfy. There are a couple of cozy chairs in the front window and some additional counter and lounge seating in an adjoining room. The drink quality and presentation were high quality and delicious. The cost of a 12oz latte ($7) with no special milk was higher than other cafes I've been to recently around Portland including places that create their own syrups for specialty drinks of the month. That said, I don't begrudge the cost of a masterfully hand-crafted, drinkable cup of art and that is exactly what I received. I think the cost stuck in my head because the welcome did not feel particularly warm at the register. They were having an animated conversation with the barista and I couldn't help but feel like we were inconveniencing them by saying good morning and trying to order. When we picked up our orders, the barista was warm and friendly. Overall, it's a delightful spot in an equally lovely neighborhood.
