When I saw this online, I had to stop here when I was in the area. I'm glad I did, but I don't think I would be back. What they serve here is more of a novelty or gimmick. I couldn't really enjoy what I was eating because there was so much going on. When I brought the hot dog up to my mouth I realized there is zero chance of me getting it to fit without losing half of the toppings. I tried anyway and failed. I grabbed a fork and a knife and sawed off bits and pieces while trying to get some of the toppings as well. It's impossible. While doing so, I would have to hunt for the hot dog all the way underneath otherwise I'd be eating all toppings. And forget about getting a slice with bread. In my opinion, the hot dogs need to be sized more like sausages and the topping department needs to be re-thought. As for the side of poutine I got, it was just OK. It's not the typical gravy flavor and it partially solidified while on the fries. I would have also likes a layer of gravy in-between the massive helping of fries. read more

What do you do when you are a pescatarian and want a burger? You come to this place. Their black bean burger is the best I have every had. I mean that whole heartily. A hotdog place where I can't even eat their chips (my girlfriend loved them btw) because they are fried in animal fat makes the best completely vegetarian black bean burger I have EVER had. It was so good and the staff was phenomenal (the staff was out of this world on all fronts actually) about my sensitivity to meat and my girlfriend's nut allergy. I'm not sure this place needs another 5 star review but I must do so especially for a place that specializes in Wieners! Having seen the reviews online and in the newsprint we had to stop here for lunch when in the area wine tasting. I was a bit leery having heard that the waits for food could be very long. Perhaps we got lucky on this cold and windy Saturday - maybe the crowds were smaller or we were on the early side for lunch but there was no line and our food was delivered within 10 mins of ordering. The menu itself has too many good choices (actually I even missed one whole section of options). I got the whole hog on a white hot and it was delicious especially the spicy onion rings - next time I'm getting a side of those. Everyone in our group loved their meals including one who ordered the wedge salad (of course it had big chunks of thick cut bacon on it). Also as a Yelper I liked their wall of shame in the bathrooms - one and two star Yelp reviews with a good explanation of how they view those reviews.... A must stop when in the area. read more

I got the whole hog dog with a bratwurst and it was outstanding. It has all the best things. Fried onions! Cheese! An egg! Wish the egg was more runny but it was already difficult to consume due to being giant. Also the young woman who helped us gave us great recommendations and was super friendly. Tip: bring your own *full* water bottle for hydration. The only water available there is bottled, which I am morally opposed to buying unless absolutely necessary, because they have well water there, which is safe but smells like sulfur. This is a brat/dog heaven for those who love that kind of thing. My husband loved this place and said it was the best brat he ever had. I appreciated they had a carrot dog for the vegetarians/vegans out there. The poutine was good and M also enjoyed the hotdog he ordered. The workers were really friendly too. We were asked politely if we could move seats because a tour group was coming through and needed the larger table, so we did without issue. Before we left, the woman who asked if we'd move seats insisted we take a free dessert for being so accommodating. She made us the toasted marshmallows and they were delicious! Apparently this place has a lot of history and is owned by a sommelier who stocks a small fridge with "mystery wine" from places all over the world. I would have bought a bottle but it's only for consumption on premises and I wanted it to go. Definitely check out this place if in the area. My mother and I visited after hiking up through Watkins Glen State Park. Considering it was the 4th of July weekend anyway, it seemed only fitting to celebrate the weekend with a hot dog or something. The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant itself is very open and comfortable. The menu provides a variety of options, and the toppings and sides are pretty delicious. I love how they describe themselves as "Housemade, locally sourced deliciousness of Seneca" too. All said and done, one of the only things to consider is that the meal can get a bit more pricy than expected - since most toppings are $1 a piece, etc. The bill for my mother and I was $27+ (she ordered a hot Italian sausage with peppers and onions with a side of chips, while I ordered a bratwurst with mushrooms, sauerkraut and caramelized onions - we also purchased 3 bottled drinks from the cooler). Props to one of the staff members there who handed out samples of the Nutella milkshake (which is still on the menu as the "Chocolate Malt", but they're being sure to tell people now that it's Nutella), while a couple tables were occupied...cause that was some effective marketing/sales. I LOVE Nutella (I've been known to make Nutella cake pops as a dessert for our office), so I couldn't help it and went back to the counter to order a shake. Very tasty. All in all, I like the atmosphere here - and the food is pretty good. I'll make a point to stop by for lunch when I'm near Watkins Glen again. read more

The restaurant doesn't look like much from the road, but the food was delicious and they allow you to bring in and enjoy your own bottle of wine with no corking fee! I expected a little salty due to the hot dog, but it wasn't! Everything was flavorful and all the ingredients went well together. The hot dog was cooked perfectly. I also got the poutine. It was good, but it wasn't great. I didn't care for the gravy. But the fries were fresh and flavorful. I also shared the spicy onion rings with a friend and they were very lackluster. When I think of onion rings, I think of large, juicy rings of onion battered and crisp. This wasn't that at all. They were soggy and I would not recommend. Write ups were 5 fork, and at lunch hour, on Labor Day, the traffic was steady coming in the door. I went after my namesake, The Double Trouble. 2 Redhots stuffed in a bun, double the bacon, carmelized onions, fried onions, bread n'butter pickles, and dill pickle slices. It spoke for itself in deliciousness. That, with a side of Maitre fries, seasoned shoestringed fresh cuts with lemon, garlic, and parsley. Perfectly paired with a NY Roc Showers IPA. I was a tourist with my better half this past week and every local we ran into suggested we try this place and when I say suggested, they pretty much forced it on us and said we would regret it if we didn't stop here. They were all right, what delicious food, holy bananas. So, it's right on Route 14, you cannot miss it. A little place with a lit up sign on the front, the vibe inside is so relaxed and fun. Immediately upon entering you are met with signage, the food map for people who have never been here before. Have no fear, if you need assistance, the wonderful gentleman who works behind the counter will be glad to talk to you through the menu. Right off the bat, the menu looks super cheap, but not so much once you start adding this topping and that topping. I ordered a ground chicken burger, no bun, with lettuce tomato and onion, added brown house mustard and sautéed onions. You could choose so many different options for toppings: various cheeses, cilantro, peanut butter, bread and butter pickles, dill pickles, debris AKA crushed potato chips (LOVE IT) chipotle mayo, korean BBQ sauce, kimchi, peppers and onions, sautéed mushrooms and more. You could probably put every single topping on the burger, it'll cost you $75 but I bet you it would be the best darn $75 burger the worlds ever tasted. So, we also got a ground beef burger, added bacon and stuff. He loved it, not surprised. Got an order of fries, and there were SO many options!! Lake salt fries, bistro fries (salt, pepper and various herbs) smoked fries, poutine fries, chili poutine fries, K-town fries, which had kimchi, cheese curds, chipotle mayo, Korean BBQ sauce and cilantro (MY GOD, AMAZEBALLS) They even had foie gras fries with pecorino cheese and truffle mayo. Stupid good guys, mouth currently watering. I also added a side of the quinoa and flax salad, which is definitely just a side and not sufficient as a full meal, but it was flavorful, light and lovely. We were stopping at as many vineyards as possible this day so we took a booze break here and opted for water, however their liquor, wine and beer selection was unbelievable. Yes, I'll have a burger served in a paper tray and a bottle of Gamay, how'd you know? I just really enjoyed the laid back casual environment where I can order quality quality food and for lack of a better word quality wine and spirits. Lots of whisky to choose from. Just a straight up cool place. The guys in the back are working at lightning speed. Once we sat down and got our food, I watched of the chefs in the back walk out the front door and come back in moments later with fresh herbs he literally picked from the garden out front. FARM TO TABLE PEOPLE. SO fresh. My chicken burger was so juice and flavorful, I cannot even put into words the flavors that came from the brown mustard caramelized onion combination. They also serve milkshakes galore. Every combination you could ever dream of and ones containing alcohol too. Check out their bathroom, their decor is classic. A monter of a plate; a brat with the works, corn relish, an egg, fried onions, etc. Delicious. My wife had a burger as she is always nervous with sausage type stuff. It was bland and over cooked; a plain jane frozen burger with lettuce and tomatoes, hence only 4 stars. On the other hand, one could argue, why did you get something that they are not known for, but would have expected something a little better. Extensive local wine, beer, and cider selections. My friends and I made the mistake of thinking this was a winery during our Finger Lakes trip, and I'm sure others have done the same. That said, this place is not the cleanest, and it's very no frills. It also smelled HORRIBLE inside like sulfur. The water in the bathroom smelled 10x more. And the wine we had, was meh. The food, however was pretty dang good. Solid burger cooked to a perfect medium rare with fun ingredients on it. My friend did not find their pouting to be very good.
