I love donuts. I used to come here when I was a freshman after pulling all nighters studying in Regan Main. Good times. The shop opens promptly at 6 am, though sometimes I came early and the owner was already there. My personal favorite are the granulated sugar donuts. They don't sound or look that great, but trust me. There's something about them that both glazed and powdered donuts lack. My friends would always get the maple bars and donut holes. Apparently those were amazing too. Do NOT get the french cruller here. The one time I got it (and convinced a friend to get it as well, since crullers are my absolute favorite), it was soggy and not good. I was very disappointed, and sad that my friend would probably never give crullers another chance. I also had a cream filled once that I didn't like, but that might have been because it was very rich and heavy and I was sleep deprived, with a stomach filled with hot cheetos and red bulls. They also have a solid thai tea, which I got a different friend to try. She's a really picky eater, but it was good enough that she's now an addict. Also, I've heard really good things about the banh mi, but haven't had a chance to try it yet. read more

The donuts here are delicious, fresh, and soft. I would love to come here again, only for the donuts. The vietnamese sandwhiches, however, were terrible to me. Sorry, i have to admit it, they did not live up to my expectations since I am a San Jose native (where a lot of good vietnamese sandwhich shops exists). Okay, after two years of searching high and low, you can't get a better Vietnamese sandwich in Davis than Fluffy's. Not that theirs is gamechanging--it's just better than Sunrise's. Even more inarguable is the fact that you can't get a better donut than Fluffy's...okay, slightly untrue. The only exception is Sushi Nobu's warm, made-to-order sugar donut. But I'm not about to pay the price of a sushi buffet just for a couple of donuts. That said, Fluffy's is pretty much the best in the area at what they offer. The guy that works here is friendly, and has a lot of other food options if you're not in the mood for donuts. The Vietnamese sandwiches here are very popular, which I've been reminded of every time I come in during the mid-afternoon, only to find out that he's run out of sandwich ingredients for the day! (I'll cut the man some slack; he's a local, family-owned business.) But if you're there just before noon, it's a fine place for an inexpensive brunch--your favorite donut, a Vietnamese sandwich, and Thai iced tea...what more could you ask for? To sum it up I LOVE this place, but if you want to hear the breakdown of why then keep reading! The Sandwiches; They are very delicious and reasonably priced. In particular I love their egg salad sandwich. My grandma used to make them for me all the time as a kid, and I have to say they come pretty close in comparison. It's a great option for vegetarians as well. The Donuts; They are stellar as well. The best time to come is in the morning when they have just come out of the oven. He makes them everyday from scratch and there is a wide variety. &&&& MY FAVORITE IS... THE THAI TEA!!!!!!! The sell the BEST THAI TEA around in my opinion. You have to try it! Last time I went to fluffy donuts was years ago. I was really happy to see the changes since. The inside looks more bright and the people working there were REALLY friendly and chill. I got a chocolate old fashioned that was crispy, not oily and the chocolate tasted good (I got some other maple donut that was similarly great). Price was normal. From the Davis Wiki, people say their hours are 5am-5pmish, sometimes opening as early as 4:30am. Like with most donut shops, I don't really expect them to have much selection in the afternoon. I went here at 1pm on a Saturday in October 2008 and there were maybe only a dozen plain donuts left. But they were still fluffy and tasty! The Vietnamese sandwiches are $2.50 each, and are kind of sparse on the fillings. In half a sandwich there was 1 sprig cilantro, 1 slice ham, 1 slice compressed meat of some sort, 1 slice jalapeno, a good pinch of shredded carrots, some spicy sauce and mayo. Still not too bad though. I'd eat here again... I must try going earlier next time! read more

this is my favorite donut spot in davis. mr hank is friendly and he gives me a good deal if i clear him out at the end of the day. great place to take my kids on a daddy date. i've had the vietnamese sandwich once and it was decent. they have wifi, but it's dangerous for me to be in there too long. i go mainly for the donuts. you'll find all the classics (glazed, cake, buttermilk...) but they also have fancier things... croissants, bear claws, cinnamon rolls. the drink options are numerous with some asian options mixed in there. i have to limit myself to coming only twice a month... usually. read more

That said, if you have a favorite doughnut such as a maple bar, you'd better get to Fluffy Doughnuts before 10 a.m. on weekends. Best donut shop in Davis! The donuts themselves are all very good, the location is easy, and the staff is nice. Each time I've been here is bright and early in the morning, and I am always excited to go in. The staff are energetic in the morning and always friendly. I've gotten a variety box a couple of times and was able to try a good amount of donuts, and they are all really good. My favorite thing here is the apple fritter though, it is huge and full of flavor. You get the full the donut sweetness, with lots of apple flavor and really good texture. A massive, week-long donut craving brought my friends and I to Fluffy Donuts, even going out of our way between classes to reach this doughy goodness. The donuts are made fresh everyday and they are open from 5am-5pm. The donut holes were tasty, but not particularly amazing. I love coming here whenever I need to study because it's nice and quiet. I don't know how people can study at Starbucks with all that buzzing and noise in the background, but to each his own. The owner is always ready to greet you when you come in. He's really nice! When I went in today for a Vietnamese sandwich, a kid was there instead of him. I don't want to bash on the kid, but he was making the sandwich without any gloves. Right now my stomach does not feel good and I'm guessing it is because of that. :\ The sandwich was not vietnamese-like at all. They didn't use baguette for the bread, and there was one measly little inch of pate streak when I looked inside. I paid a total of $3. Definitely not worth it. The only problem i faced was they don't pick up their phone and if you go past 12 theres no one in the store (even with the open sign). They gave up. 945 am and there are 3 donuts left on a wednesday. Coffee: not enough light roast to fill my travel mug. When I point out they are out she insists I top it off with dark roast and refused to grab one of the other canisters behind the counter. I'm a regular at Pink Dozen, rather I was a regular at pink dozen. I would go there frequently despite Fluffy Donuts being closer to my home. Fluffy under the new ownership is a different story. For one, the donuts are really good. The texture and sweetness of the donuts suits my personal taste far more than anywhere else in Davis. The coffee is also very good, and the place is spacious and inviting. The real charm of this place is truly the new owner. To be sure, I'm assuming the man I see there in the morning is the new owner. He is incredibly gracious and polite, and very thoughtful. He is clearly very invested in making Fluffy donuts a welcoming and pleasurable experience for the customer, and has made some very welcome changes since taking over. It's a small gesture, but giving his guests warm coffee mugs is an incredible touch! I hope he does very well and that many successes await him. Keep up the good work! read more

The donuts here are pretty good. You have your standard fluffy donut holes! So always delicious. The Banh Mi is pretty mediocre. You get the traditional meats (deli ham, BBQ pork, turkey) it has the traditional pickled veggies but doesn't have pate. However none of the restaurants in davis or around the area have pate in their sandwiches unfortunately. For a donut store they're pretty good! I prefer it over pho king or sunset. read more
