Nice place for lunch and pick up. No specific parking provided and we were told to park in the garage of the hospital. I yelped this place and took a shot and it was pretty good stop. The food was authentic and the price was reasonable, not cheap. The stew pork rice was so good. The Dan Dan was ok as they should have more ground pork I think. Felt like eating oily soup and noodles. The dumplings were tasty. They steamed them not fried. Per my friend, the beef noodles were pretty good but the beef wasn't tender enough. The rice was very overcooked and mushy, the bok choy was two leaves, and the dish as a whole lacked any flavor. Stopped in for some authentic Chinese in Boulder. Enjoyed it due the most part. They have a good mix of Chinese cuisine from various parts of the country. Ordered the zhajiang noodles which were my favorite, flavors taste quite authentic, good mix of salty and sweet. Got the beef noodle soup which was good. Tan tan noodles were good as well. After trying a few places in CO for XLB and having some horrible examples, we weren't exactly expecting the world here in Boulder of all places. What a pleasant surprise as these were the best XLB we've had in a while outside of CA. We went back and ordered seconds along with a order of steamed chive dumplings with a bowl of beef noodle soup. We weren't disappointed as all of the items were as expected in both taste and texture. The XLB skin was perfect in that it wasn't super thick or gummy but had the perfect texture and pliability in that it didn't break and spill the soup everywhere upon picking it up, or even worse, while being cooked. Nothing is worse than ordering soup dumplings only to find no soup in them. We'll definitely be back when in Boulder! read more

I helped my neighbors load their truck. They headed out to a new place in southeast Colorado. They are vegetarians and suggested Flower Pepper. I didn't know the menu, so let my friends order. Everything was a little spicy, which I like. Vegetarian dishes are always less expensive and we got out of their cheap. We had leek dumplings, stir fried bok choi, hot and cold noodles and the special crepé. It was all good. It's more of a take out place on Broadway and parking is tricky, so plan ahead. I live a block away and this is easily my go-to restaurant when I'm feeling lazy. Have never dined in, always order for pick-up, but the staff is quick, friendly, and to the point. The mapo tofu is my weakness and I will consistently push myself to the maximum level of fullness because every bite is like having the first bite all over again. I have tried a few other dishes but I have reached a point where I always go back to the mapo tofu. The portion is so huge that I always have plenty of leftovers, and an even bigger win that the entrees are all under $10! My partner, however, isn't in love with the place like I am. He says the douban (fermented soy + chili) in some of the sauces makes his mouth numb. I say it sounds like a personal problem and a huge loss for him. read more

Delicious! The food was tasty and fresh. The service was friendly and hospitable! We ordered the bok choy, which was served cold in a spicy soy-based sauce. Amazing. The wonton noodle soup was light, slightly spiced, with herby flavor. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the wontons are packed with flavor. Lastly, their xiao long bao were so good! The soup inside was perfectly flavored and the meat was so tasty. The dipping sauce was a little tangy and complimented the dumplings. 10/10. You might not notice this little establishment immediately, located at North and Broadway, directly across from Sweet Cow. But walking in immediately feels less like a restaurant setting, because it is smaller and more intimate, and more like walking into your mom's kitchen at home. You are met with a heavenly lightly spiced aroma, mouthwatering for sure. The decor is simple, red paper lanterns and some art on the walls. But this only further enforces how much effort and attention they give their cuisine. Their menu is comprised of authentic(not American-Chinese authentic, but bona fide) meals. I am enamored by their dan dan noodles, perfect for cold weather, or when you start to feel a bit under the weather. The broth is homemade and is seasoned to perfection, with that genuine hearty chicken stock and vegetables. My SO dreams about their Sweet and Spicy sweet potato noodle dish, the glass noodles are as beautiful as they are delicious! Needless to say, their menu is diverse and each dish is made beautifully. Tasteless Dan Dan and the two baby bok choy were so minute they were smaller than 1/2 a baby carrot. The rest was also underwhelming compared to other local offerings. The potstickers were good. It's not close to home so if I was near it and craving Chinese I'd for sure go again but wouldn't go out of my way. I got the Sesame Chicken noodles and cucumber salad and it tasted so fresh. Our last night in Colorado, drove from Vail this morning, hiking at Breckinridge noon for 2 hours, then went to Rocky Mountain late afternoon, after leaving the Park almost dark, driving to Boulder. Search on Yelp, found this Chinese place, we finally arrived at 8:30, as soon as we at the restaurant, they switched "open " light off, we feel so disappointed, we were so hungry, we do not know the city at all. Luckily they took the orders from us, and after I ask for any kind of soup, they gave us the ducking soup for free. The food was delicious, the owner and staff were so friendly, helped us above and beyond. The whole thing cost us only $20, for mapo tofu over rice and traditional tanwan pork over rice. We ordered delivery and it came quick. We ordered the Tawainese braised beef noodles, stewed pork belly over rice, wonton soup, dandan noodles, mouth watering salad, and Peking duck rolls. The Taiwanese braised beef noodles and pork belly over steamed rice looked and tasted almost the same, which was Chinese five spice gravy with rice and meat, nothing great in my opinion. The Peking duck rolls were wrapped in a cold tortilla and to be honest were terrible and low quality. The best was the DanDan noodles which had a good flavour, and the mouth watering salad which literally made your mouth tingle and was delicious. If we did order again we would stick with those last two and perhaps start rotating through thier other options. The moment I walked in the door I could smell that this place knew what they were doing. Of the two meals my girlfriend and I got, one was great and one was subpar. Her dish was flavorful and well constructed, while my dish was bland and disappointing. The seating is limited but good if you are looking for a very casual place to eat. Five stars for food. Not only by far the best Chinese food I've had in the area, but the best Asian cuisine. I got soup dumplings and dan dan noodles. I really can't fault either dish. I loved them both without reservation. Everything I hoped they would be. Service was friendly, but a bit odd, dumplings coming after my main course, and the space is super cramped and, where I sat, not adequately cooled. Table was sticky, you have to eat your soup with a dinky teaspoon instead of a proper soup spoon. Still, five stars. I loved the food that much. read more

We came in last weekend and showed up a lil over the hour before closing. We drove up from Westminster/Thornton and I had my baby with me. We waited for quite some time. Around 8:30pm the girl working the front which we assumed was the daughter of the cook came out and asked if we could take our food to go as they were closing soon. She apologized that they were taking awhile to get us our food and then complained about how busy they were and that the dish we ordered takes much longer to wait. It was 8:45 when we got our food and had to leave 15 minutes before closing. Like you couldn't just allow us to eat while you were cleaning and closing up? I have never been kicked out of a restaurant before and for that matter before the restaurant closed. Being our family is Chinese, we heard her dad yelling at her to hurry things up. The food was certainly mediocre at best. By the time we got home and got our food, we had to eat dinner at 10pm. My baby was so tired by then. It was absolutely ridiculous that they wanted our business but didn't have the courtesy to allow us to eat. It certainly isn't worth going back. Yaaas, came here from out of town. Boyfriend and I came from the Rocky Mountains, was slightly homeless, freezing from the snow and this place came to our rescue. I tried the Dan Dan noodles, the cellophane noodle soup, and other things here. Honestly, the food is great here once you add a little bit of black vinegar into the mix with some heaping spoonfuls of chili oil. Yes, I like a ton of tangy flavor and spice and this place hit the spot after freezing our butts off and being homeless for a bit.
