The restaurant is set up nicely and unique. We came in during restaurant week and I suggest no one do that! We knew it would be busy, but was not ready to be waiting more than an hour between first course and second course! Several things did not go well. We had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes post our reservation time for the table to be ready. I found the portion sizes to be on the small side. I ordered the butter chicken pasta, which was really saucy so it was a shame to waste the remaining sauce once the pasta was finished. They give no complimentary bread, which would have been a nice addition to the pasta. The flavor of the butter chicken pasta and the hot chipotle chicken dip were good, but portion could have been larger for the price. Since the wait was extremely long between courses, I was offered a free refill for my mocktail, but when I got the check I was charged for it. I did not bring it up because after more than two hours of dining in, I was ready for it to be over. The mango creme brulee was not cool enough and so it did not set properly. The tiramisu tres leches was just okay, and they had ran out of the brownie dessert completely. I don't see myself coming back with so many nice Italian restaurants available in the city. read more

I am very unimpressed. We were a table of 3 and came in on the weekend. The menu online showed the options with meat but the on site menu didn't mention meat on almost all of their options unless it was in the name. This mattered because we had a vegetarian in the group. We ordered the cheese appetizer and they gave us 4 crostinis. If we wanted more, it was extra. They have separately bread rolls you can buy for $2 each and they tasted like a Sisco roll covered in some oil or hot honey. They were usual sized dinner rolls. The Aperol Spritz was also incredibly watered down. In short, the place is a ripoff. The food was ok but not great and for the price point and portion size, and considering literally everything on the menu is bread/carbs which is one of the cheapest things you can sell, it was very disappointing. I would not pay to come back here. read more

I had a pretty good experience at Flower Modern Kitchen overall. Service was immaculate it was quiet inside and slow but still. The bartender was so good ! I started with the guava margarita, which was just okay. I was hoping for a stronger guava flavor, but it tasted more like a regular margarita. I ordered the tasting menu. The cannoli was a little disappointing because it was served kind of cold, but the salad was absolutely delicious. Whatever pesto they use is incredible and really made the dish stand out. The lemon pasta was another highlight. It had a bright, fresh lemon flavor that wasn't overpowering and was one of my favorite courses. Dessert was a banana brownie sundae, and it was amazing. It was rich, flavorful, and the perfect way to end the meal. Overall, despite a couple of small misses, the food was flavorful and worth trying. I'd definitely come back, especially for the pasta, salad, and dessert. read more

My 614 Restaurant Week choice! And it did not disappoint. The food was delicious. They make all their pasta in house and you can tell. It's fluffy and fresh tasting. A cute and cozy little restaurant! There's plenty of parking in the lot and a decent amount of seating inside. I would make a reservation if you can, especially on the weekend because it does fill up. The drinks are good and pretty unique! I liked the different flavors they offer. I think my favorite dish is the Butter Chicken Alla Vodka. I feel like this dish is pretty consistently good and I would recommend. The other pasta dishes I've tried are usually good but sometimes they're made inconsistently. Overall, the pasta and the drinks are good! I would recommend the Tres Leche Tiramisu cake! It's my favorite dessert here and it's made very well, flavorful, and delicious. Staff is super nice and accommodating! They are great and make the experience better. I would recommend for a casual date, small groups, and a delicious meal! The mall is next door and you can walk around if you're waiting for a table or an activity for after dinner. read more

While the reason I came for dinner last night was due to a Yelp event, I stayed for the tasting menu that was amazing. I had a wonderful first visit here and will definitely return. The space is beautiful and the seating is comfortable. My server Tiana took great care of me. I was at a banquette facing the floor to ceiling windows. The tasting menu is $38 and you may select accompanying cocktails and wine for another $30. The a la carte menu is also available for separate plates. There is one first course choice, which is a savory cannoli that was unique and tasted great. For course two I chose the Garlic Herb Roll and Truffle Yuzu Kosho Salad. This salad was a bit unusual, with frozen raspberries, and I loved it. The roll is probably the best I've ever had. It was placed on top of a light layer of herb butter and was so light. My third course was the Butter Chicken Alla Vodka. Again, so good. I took half home for lunch. The dessert course has 3 choices and I had the Warm Chocolate Brownie with Banana Ice Cream. It was the perfect size, in a crystal glass. The brownie was indeed warm. Everything was good from start to finish. read more

Try to sit at the bar and let Alex take care of you. There is a drink menu, a happy hour menu and a dinner menu so you can't go wrong with any of the choices. Get the hoisin sauce cauliflower appetizer and take your time looking over the menu. The wine will taste so good you will need a second glass before you even order dinner. The place has a cool, laid-back vibe. Look for the Bundt pan art installation. Relax. Enjoy. And say hi to Alex for me. read more

Had an awesome dinner at Flour and honestly, I can't stop thinking about the chipotle chicken with naan. It had this subtle Indian flavor. I also tried their tiramisu for dessert and wow, it was delicious. Super creamy, not too sweet, just how I like it. The menu has a bunch of other things that sounded great, so I'll definitely be coming back to try more. The place itself was cozy and festive, with Christmas decorations up and really friendly staff. Just felt welcoming and fun. If you're into flavorful food with a twist or want a chill spot to hang out, this is such a good choice. Highly recommend! The best part for me was the flavor of the hot chipotle chicken dip, it was just amazing!! read more

3.75 stars overall. I made a reservation for a Thursday evening but it never got all that busy. We did sit out in the patio which was nice. Service was good. The staff were attentive and friendly. We started off with drinks: I got the blueberry Negroni, while my friends got the pickle dirty martini, and some kind of spritz. Beautiful! We also shared the burrata. It was delicious albeit wasn't as flavorful as it looked. Same for the pastas. I got the beef keema pappardelle, while my friends got the roasted corn and jalapeño hearts and the ricotta gnocchi. Not seasoned enough. It was a good amount of food but still a letdown. I think the concept is great but I really wanted more unique flavors in the dishes. Tons of parking here since it's next to Barnes&Nobles. read more

We had been wanting to try this place and decided to try it this past Saturday for Valentines Day and it was such a great experience. We did the $38 prefix menu which you get a small appetizer, salad, bread, pasta, and dessert. It's amazing deal. The ambience is fun with lots of cute and fun artwork and wallpaper. Stand outs for me were the truffle Mac and cheese and the brownie with banana ice cream. The bread is also amazing. My husband loved the spaghetti. Service was good as well. Definitely recommend and love this addition to the area! read more

My boyfriend and I came here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised! The ambiance inside is upscale yet still felt modern and casual. The service was very good with frequent check-ins and explanations by the staff. The full menu is available but they also have a very reasonable four course tasting menu. We went with this. For $38, you get a savory cannoli, a bread of your choice, a salad of your choice, an entree of your choice, and finally a dessert. Each was a very unique mix of both Italian and other flavors like East Asian and Indian. It was all very good and we would like to return. read more

The appetizers here are subpar. I don't recommend them. I did try the crispy shrimp and the cauliflower. They were covered in sauce and way too spicy. The cauliflower was not all that crispy. However, the main courses and their pasta were absolutely fantastic. In my opinion I would skip the appetizers and go straight for the main courses. Service was incredible and atmosphere was great. read more

I've had my eye on Flour for a while, and finally managed to make schedules line up to try. Their fixed price menu is a good concept, obviously I want salad, bread and pasta! Since there were 2 of us, we had one of each bread - hot honey and garlic parm. The texture is super fun, fluffy inside, crisp outside. We also tried both salads - I liked the green goddess, with radish and lots of dill. The salads are a generous side portion, and extra points for chopping the greens fine (I don't like having to cut lettuce with a knife - team chopped salad over here). For my main, I had the butter chicken pasta, and it was a really fun mash up. The sauce was really nice, and there was plenty of chicken. We also had the fried lasagna bites as an app (not included in the fixed price, BTW), and how can you go wrong? crispy, cheesey, with marinara. Yum Another thing that we really liked - they have a good selection of mocktails on the menu, and there is a definite price difference between leaded and unleaded (looking at you places that charge $15 for a cocktail and $14 for NA). I had the Purple Martini, NA version, and really loved the fruity floral combo. It came in a cute glass with a sprig of lavender on top. We didn't do dessert, that was plenty! The vibe is really cute and it's very photogenic. I think it's a fun addition to the Polaris scene and would be happy to go again. read more

The service and atmosphere were fantastic, but unfortunately the food was pretty mediocre overall, and honestly, that seems to be the pattern every time we come. The savory cannoli was a miss for me. The shell was supposed to be pepper Parmesan, but it tasted sweet, and the flavors just did not work together. The butter chicken had really good flavor, but the chicken itself was so dry it was almost like jerky. The chorizo pasta was just okay. The noodles were a little stodgy and the flavor felt like it was missing something. I kept waiting for another layer of flavor or some kind of brightness that never really came. The spaghetti was probably the biggest disappointment. The sauce was watery and there was way too much of it compared to the amount of pasta. A few people at the table even commented that it tasted like Ragu or Prego. Both salads were also a miss. The seasonal salad was extremely bitter and heavy on the vinegar, and the romaine wedge was so overdressed that it was basically sitting in a pool of dressing. There were definitely a few things we loved, though. The pear, burrata, and prosciutto appetizer was incredible. Easily a 10 out of 10 and something I would absolutely come back for. The rolls were fluffy, airy, and delicious, and the gnocchi Alfredo side was also really good. One last thing, the paper straws. Please either skip straws altogether or find a better eco friendly option. No one wants their straw falling apart halfway through dinner. Overall, the service and atmosphere were great and there were a couple of standout dishes, but the food as a whole just felt inconsistent and underwhelming. read more

I'd say a 3.5. The space is super cool, well designed and you don't feel like you are in the Columbus suburbs, let alone the mall area. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable about all the dishes. The food was ok, it wasn't spectacular and none of us are dying to go back. Glad we tried it. What a fun spot! The inside of flour feels like you are at a fun hip bar restaurant inside of a Vegas casino! The color scheme is so playful and I think is reflective of the menu. Service was amazing! We sat at the bar and got to chat with the bartenders and they were so kind and gave great recommendations! (And made delicious cocktails!!!) Truly a fusion of cuisines! The shrimp appetizer was delicious: plump perfectly cooked shrimp, wrapped in crispy kataifa. The dinner is 3 courses: a roll, salad, and then a pasta option. We opted to get both rolls- you can't go wrong with either! They were delicious and almost had a fry dough taste to them. Very rich! Both salads again you cannot go wrong with!! We loved them both. The truffle yuzu was amazing if you (like me) love the smell of truffle but don't like to have it over power the dish. This was well balanced. And the pastas!! Wow these were both great!! While I wish the sauces had a little more depth to them, we still licked our plates clean so still 5 stars in my book. We can't wait to come back and try more pasta options!! & we split the ice cream mud pie; it was a perfect dessert to end with:) was surprisingly not too heavy and just wait we needed after the 3 courses! read more

Tried Flour Pasta Bar in Polaris this evening for Restaurant Week Their $35 deal included an appetizer, entrée, and dessert -- and since they advertised clearly labeled vegan options, I marked this as a spot I really wanted to try, especially since it was my first visit. Unfortunately, the experience was very underwhelming. The Restaurant Week menu listed vegan options for every course, which was the main reason I chose this restaurant. However, once ordering began, that quickly became unclear. The cauliflower appetizer I was initially told could be made vegan... couldn't be. The only option ended up being a simple salad with very minimal toppings (not pictured). For my entrée, I was first told I could have the gnocchi with modifications -- which I was excited about -- but that was later walked back as well. I was then told the jalapeño hearts pasta could be made vegan, so I went with that. Sadly, it missed the mark completely. The dish was extremely watery and lacked flavor, tasting almost entirely like lime juice. It was served more like soup, with noodles floating in a pool of liquid and corn (pictured). Dessert was sorbet -- which was fine -- but overall I left still feeling hungry and disappointed due to the lack of clarity around what could actually be made vegan and the quality of those options. I truly wanted to like Flour Pasta Bar, and my friends who ordered regular dishes seemed to enjoy their meals. But as someone dining vegan, the experience just didn't live up to what was advertised, and I'm not sure it's one I'd revisit. read more

We enjoyed our dinner here and it was very unique but I would say we are glad we tried it once but probably won't go back unless they change up the menu. We liked everything we ordered, everything was good, the pasta was fresh made which was nice, but we didn't love anything and we wouldn't order anything again other than the pear salad - and we shared and tried 80% of the menu between 5 of us. Our server was very good and the place has a cool vibe. I think our favorite pasta was probably the lemon Cajun shrimp. We also tried several other pastas and all were fine. The salads were also unique and I think the best one was the marinated pear salad. The bread to start was also unique and good and we did the wine pairing with one of our order and that was fine too. So I think it is worthy of trying is you are curious and a bit adventurous. read more

I was realllllly excited to come here because I love Rooh! Our waiter was great and everyone we interacted with. I just think that you're not actually getting much bang for your buck here, if you are thinking what I was thinking- $28 for a pre fix menu, what a good deal! The pasta was fine, I would compare to Cheesecake Factory (not meant to be a diss, that is just what the food is most similar to). Nothing special, but good enough. My shrimp was overcooked, a tad on the chewy side. Dough = literally a savory donut, just fine. Fries were good, I liked the olive aioli. Salads were really basic, the dill was really overpowering on one and the other had like one frozen raspberry and balsamic. Desserts were also just fine. So because the pre course things were not anything substantial, you're kind of just paying $28 for basic pasta. I'm sad that I didn't like it more, for the kind of money we spent though we could have gone to Speck or somewhere that is making pasta handmade and more interesting. Edit: I have something unnecessary but is hopefully at least feedback. The generic Amazon prints all over the wall instead of real art is almost never a good sign- you'd be better off with blank walls in my opinion. At a cheap place it's fine but when you're trying to be "elevated" it cheapens everything. read more

Flour, brought to you by the owners of the fabulous ROOH in the Short North is not a typical Italian restaurant, but rather Indian-Italian fusion. My suggestion is to read through the menu closely before ordering because they offer interesting twists on dishes that one may have different expectations of. Each dish has some sort of Indian twist to it so be aware of that. The owners have a wonderful modern Indian restaurant in town, and this is an interesting fusion of two cuisines in their second concept. We went on a really busy night and the service was good but stretched. I thought the coursing could've been a little less rigorous/ hurried because it felt like " eat it and beat it" despite the friendliness of the hostesses and server. As soon as we took one bite of a dish, the next one came out, so that's my biggest feedback. Slow it down even if you're busy. We ordered from the regular fixed price menu and each got a different salad and bread, although the gem salad could have used some citrus or something to brighten it. Both entrées were good, but I thought gnocchi were pretty chewy, however the sauces were really surprising and tasty. We took a pass on the dessert, but Flour was definitely a vibrant space. Modern, nice design, and we'll go back next time we're near Polaris. It is located in Polaris mall proper. read more

Finally made it to Flour with my bestie! We were both super excited since we've seen so many good reviews about this spot and were excited to check them out. Overall, I think it was a good experience. I didn't fall in love with the place but did enjoy the meal and the service. As noted in other reviews posted for Flour.. MAKE SURE TO PUT BARNES & NOBLE IN YOUR GPS. For some odd reason the directions take you through the front of the Polaris mall entrance which is pretty far from the actual restaurant entrance. The interior is really cute. Super pink, super colorful and vibrant. There's a lot of two top tables, so in my opinion this would be a great date spot! Now let's talk about the spread. MEET ME FOR MATCHA - 6/10 - I wanted to try something new and didn't hateee this but certainly could have opted into an alternative drink that would have left me wanting another TRUFFLE HONEY & PECORINO - 9/10 - The bread options may be the star of the meal ! So warm and fluffy. What more could you ask for ? HOUSE BABY GEM - 7/10 - A nice standard salad. Nothing special but tastes fresh and was light in my tummy. TIE DYE RICOTTA GNOCCHI 9/10 - I loved the combination of all the different sauces with the gnocchi! I've always been a gnocchi lover and this entree did not disappoint. The portion size felt appropriate, i would order this again. read more

Flour is owned by the same family that owns Rooh in short north which I totally love It's pre fix menu with bread, salad and pasta 3 course options They do cater for vegetarian and vegan meals I tried their Cesar salad which was amazing with a fresh hint of dill which was refreshing Salad & bread was the best part. Both pasta dishes ordered lacked any real flavor. The butter chicken pasta was dry and underwhelming for me. We ordered the specialty drinks which were okay as well. It's interesting that the NA drinks cost the same as the alcoholic drinks. It's also worth noting that you have to inquire about what pasta is served with each dish, as the menu lacks a lot of details. I would give it another shot but there are definitely some things to iron out. read more

We had an incredible experience here. Honestly, one of the best all around dining experiences in Columbus period. Our server Jen was fantastic. She gave us great recommendations and was very accommodating about gluten free options (they do have gf bread and pasta). All of the staff were really friendly and worked well as a team. The menu is prix fixe and it is a lot of food for $28. You will not leave hungry. There are two bread options, two salad choices and all kinds of pasta dishes. Desserts and side dishes are a la carte. Tip: If you don't like pasta, there are no other entree options. The butter chicken alla vodka had a spicy kick and the french onion mac and cheese was hot, cheesy deliciousness. The smoked chocolate custard for dessert was incredible. I went to Flour last week with my friends and had an interesting experience. I wouldn't say that I loved it, but I wouldn't say it was bad either. The restaurant is very hard to find as Google maps takes you to the correct location, Apple Maps does not. I had a reservation and was seated right away. Everything on the menu is based on a tasting menu. It is $28 for a dough, greens and flour (main dish). My favorite thing that I ate was the dough. I ordered the truffle honey and pecorino and it was fantastic more of a sweet bread. On the other hand, my friends ordered the herb and garlic butter. Both are great options. As the only one at the table, I enjoyed the arugula. In my opinion, it would be helpful to have not just salad but soup maybe or a simpler salad like Caesar. I was the only one at my table that ate this portion of the meal. For my main option or my Flour, I got the butter chicken alla vodka, it was not really my favorite. It came with ROOH Red Pepper & Cashew Makhani / Crispy Chicken which I substituted for grilled chicken. I should've gone with my original thought of getting the Short Rib Pappardelle with Marsala Braised Shallots and Mashed Potato Foam. Will I be coming back? Probably because now I want to try that other entrée. My friend also ordered the shoestring fries which were very good. It was my friend's birthday and they brought out a scoop of ice cream with sprinkles, which was very nice. I did get a cocktail and it was very good. I got the Apple Pie Mule without alcohol. It comes with Brown Sugar & Apple Pie Syrup / Lime / Ginger beer. read more

Flour has a good concept of a set menu price. You get to pick a bread, salad and pasta for $30. The bread and salad are delicious. The salad was fresh. However, the pasta was disappointing. I ordered the braised beef and my friend ordered the Korean pasta. Both were so spicy we were not able to eat very much of the dish. We expected the Korean one to be spicy but not the braised beef. It burnt my mouth and made my nose run. The menu did not mention any spice for either dish. Flour would get more stars if we were able to eat the main course. The service was great. A nice little treat for a pre-holiday shopping evening at Polaris. We arrived in the early evening and decided to partake in their happy hour at the bar. Because we wanted to go and do a little shopping afterwards and we both drove, we decided to go for their mocktails. I think it's lovely they had so many NA options. They were both delicious, but I think I enjoyed my guava margarita more. Nice effervescence with the Sprite addition & good guava flavor. The mango dream was overly sweet IMO, and a little thick. We proceeded to order the tempura cauliflower, buffalo popcorn chicken and pickles, and a side salad. Since we came on a Friday evening, it started to get quite busy fast. However, I think our waitress remained unfazed and friendly. Plus our food came out at a pretty reasonable time. The food was good but, if I'm really honest, nothing spectacular. We both felt that the food was overly sauced, and the fry wasn't executed very well. The cauliflower had batter that stuck to your teeth and the popcorn chicken just didn't have enough crunch. We'll have to come back for their more known pasta dishes for a true review. Both our desserts were also pretty decent. I think the Tres leches tiramisu was our favorite. The mango crème brûlée was predominantly eggy in flavor, and didn't really have a mango taste to it like the name suggested. There was also some kind of dried green herb that didn't texturally work for me. However, the decor and mood of the restaurant provided a cute little date night pre-shopping vibe that I enjoyed. They may want to think about increasing the heat though because whenever the door opened, a huge gust of cold air rushed in. Plus, I think the place gets alot of outside draft from the garage door style walls they have there. read more

An all around excellent experience! The ambience and service was wonderful! Our hostess and waiter were both amazing, along with the rest of the staff that was constantly helping and making sure we were taken care of. The drinks were excellent and a great selection of cocktails and wine! I really enjoyed the pre-set menu - $28 for a bread starter, salad and pasta. The portions were perfect. I tried both of the bread options, both were amazing, but the honey + pecorino was excellent! A nice combination of texture, sweet & savory! The garlic and herb bread was also amazing. Both salads were also great, enjoyed the arugula salad and the gem lettuce salad. Both had such fresh ingredients and delicious dressings. The pastas were also great! I LOVED the gnocchi pasta! The texture of the pasta was soft and delicious, with a delicious combination of pesto, Alfredo and tomato sauce. I highly recommend this dish. The butter chicken pasta was OK, I definitely liked the gnocchi pasta better. However, I'm not a fan of a mix of Italian and Indian flavors. Lastly, the tres leches tiramisu dessert was incredible. It was extremely rich but very tasty. So excited to see this place grow! read more

It's not traditional as the title says. I tried the butter chicken. It's a Indian dish but they put a spin on it. The portion size is small for the price. The sause is creamy and the pasta is fresh. The chicken is very tender. The dish was ok but I needed to be served with bread so you can get all the sauce off the bowl. I take points off for that. They give you a menu for a 4 course meal without a price. Not cool but just ask. The starter was red and green burrata. It was pesto and sun dried tomatoes it can with bread. Not bad! Desert was a mango creme brulee. It was good but needed of the carmelized top. With that said I left hungry because of the small portion. Would I come back or take a friend form out of town. I would say no. Why? The portion size and no bread. If you are hungry I would go elsewhere. The place seems it was created for drinks more than food. I think they tried to gourmet Indian food and if you have been following me you know I always say you can't gourmet soul food. Indian food is soul food. Soul of India. The atmosphere was ok. It's night a place to have a quiet romantic meal at all. It's more of a meet and great for a snack place. They have outdoor seats. The inside in November was a little cold. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. There's a lot of good: the space is decorated in a really pleasing way with bright, but not overwhelming colors and art. It is located essentially inside the Polaris mall, with an exterior entrance. We were greeted friendly and promptly for our 645 reservations and brought to a small but comfortable table for two. Our server was wonderful; she was friendly, funny, and had good recommendations for us as we ordered. I also appreciated that it is a fixed menu with a bread, a salad, and a pasta based on entrée for $30. One downside: you can't order just an entrée (it will still be the same price), as my friend was hoping to do so to take home for her husband. The food ultimately was good, but didn't seem to stand out in any real way for me. I ordered the butter, chicken pasta, which had good flavor, but not a lot of chicken. I sort of wished I was just eating traditional butter chicken over rice. The fried bread and salad were tasty, though again, perhaps not particularly memorable. If you really like pasta, this is probably a good place because you can try different flavors than you normally find at more traditional Italian restaurants, and your meal will be affordable and the atmosphere comfortable. read more
