Oh, Yelp, can't I buy a negative star just once? A black hole for the worst experience I've had this year? I don't walk into carpet stores that often, but yesterday I needed to pick up some remnants to put on the hard wood floor in our house because our 14-year-old family dog has lost mobility and we needed something she could get some traction on. I walked into Dublin Carpet and nobody greeted me because the place was packed, wall-to-wall people. Oh, that's right. There was nobody there. They just ignored me. Then I interrupted someone doing some very important work which consisted of moving papers from one side of her desk to the other side and asked where the remnants were. "Back of the warehouse" she thumbed, as I was left to find my own way. Again, this is understandable because there are so many more important things to do in an empty store than, say, helping your only customer. I scrounged up a piece of carpeting and hauled it back to where the woman was sitting. It had no price tag on it, so she went into the "back room" where someone I can only assume moonlights as the Banker on "Deal or No Deal" gave her the price for the scrap. $20. Fine. Whatever. It's for my aging dog. The woman proceeds to write up a bill of sale on a piece of paper that looks like it was printed by Benjamin Franklin himself. What could have taken 4 seconds to transact took five minutes as she stared with me with incredulity when I refused to give her my address. Rarely do I walk into a small, presumably locally-owned business in the middle of the day and feel like I'm a complete imposition on their other important activities. But here's the thing, Dublin Carpet. I was testing you. For when our beloved dog finally expires, and we finally recarpet our entire house, it is you that I will ignore. Unbelievable. I called this place to get a quote on a particular engineered hardwood floor. The jerk that answered the phone asked if I had my own installer. I replied yes and he said, "well then go through him to get it" and he hung up on me. My question to Dublin Carpet, do you not sell to DIY customers? I'm assuming by your rude response that your business is doing so well you do not need to focus on customer service or material sales. Guess if I did need an installer, this would not be the place for me anyway. I'll take my 842 sq ft job somewhere else. Good Luck! read more

Paul: Needs to learn proper follow-up with his customers. DeeDee: His wife and receptionist--needs to learn appropriate manners and telephone skills. We went to Dublin Carpet to purchase an area rug for our new home--because it was "Small Business Saturday" and they were a local business to where we were temporarily living until our new home was built. Paul was cordial and assisted us with samples so we placed an order. He said it should not take long to come in and would "follow-up" with us once the carpet was ready for delivery / pick-up--as it had to be professionally bound once it arrived. A couple of weeks passed without word so I telephoned Paul--that was my first encounter with DeeDee who is, I'm sorry to say, basically useless. I began asking her questions about my order and she kept putting me off telling me she could not assist me--that I would have to wait for Paul to telephone. Paul returned my call and I got the very distinct impression that he failed to place the order for the rug. No lie! Because after that follow-up call to him the rug came in shortly thereafter. Hmmmm. We had the rug placed in our new home. However, during vacuuming the binding came undone on one of the corners. My husband and I went into the store and told Paul--again, very cordial and he said to bring it in. We said that we had professional movers move our furniture and lay the rug (it's 9'x12'); he offered to send someone over to collect. Guess what--they never showed! Again I followed-up with Paul as to why the guys never showed and he took no responsibility saying he was waiting for a call from me to schedule the date--really, I spoke with Paul on the phone and it was scheduled for February 6th pick-up. Moving on.... So, after that screw-up he said he would give the gentleman who actually did the binding my details to call me directly to get the rug repaired. Sounds good. Two+ weeks passed--no call from anyone. I phoned Paul today (again had the "pleasure" of speaking with Deedee) and left a message--no sooner did I hang up the phone than Paul's "guy" called me and said he would be in my area tomorrow to look at the rug. One thing I fear is that Paul has my money for the rug--$800--and all I have left is headaches. Another reviewer indicated that once Paul has your money he's done. I didn't want to believe that review, but he's right: Paul is done with you once he has your $$$. I still believe in "Small Business Saturday"....just not Dublin Carpet & Warehouse! read more

I needed carpet for my new born's room and it had to match the custom paint job I did. Paul Vernocy from Dublin Carpet was VERY helpful in helping me pick out the perfect color and ringing me up. When they came out to install it, they were right on time and I did not have to wait around all day like one does for a "utility company" or a "big box store". Paul and Dede were amazing. We walked into the shop on a whim and Paul was able to help us right away. He gave us sample flooring to take home and try out for as long as we needed and then came back to take measurements as well as provided us with a quote that day. Compared to (Empire who was pushy and twice the price) Paul was able to find us hardwood floors that we loved and that were within our budget. 10 stars!!!!! My family and I went to this store looking for an area rug and the nice gentleman directed us to their super deal department in the back, called carpet outlet. Extra fine quality rugs/ carpet for a quarter of the price! We found what we wanted fast and we were given help carrying the 8x10 plush carpet to the car. We were even given a carpet stain remover just for inquiring about carpet stains. It's incredible! I've been a Dublin/Pleasanton resident for over 20 years and it's first I heard of this store...but I am so glad I found it! Chuck, you are the man! I'm a little confused about the few negative reviews on here (maybe a competitor?) because I have nothing but amazing things to say about Dublin carpet. We moved to livermore from San Jose and knew no one out in the east bay for contract work. I was referred to Paul by my brother in law and since he used and trusted him I decided to give him a shot. Paul was so patient with us and really took his time to explain things and show us his inventory. He actually saved us over $5,000!!! Any other contractor wouldn't have said anything so he'd make more money off of us. After all is said and done we got an amazing price AND my floors look AMAZING!!! Totally exceeded my expectations. I will for sure be using Paul and his crew again in a couple of years when I'm ready to change out my upstairs carpet. With Paul you get no BS and just good old fashion hard work and effort. read more

I am re writing my review since the last one ended up in the filtered pile and I feel like I owe it to this company to give them a good review. Warning--it's a lengthy review. In 2006 when my icemaker flooded my hardwood kitchen and dining room floors. I turned in an insurance claim. My insurance company said this Dublin Carpet Company was a diamond rated company so I used them. I decided to avoid future water problems with the kitchen floor that I would use tile in the kitchen but keep the hardwood in the dining room. Dublin Carpet sent out a nice young man who did a good job in replacing and refinishing the warped floor boards in the dining room. Then he began work installing big Congoleum tiles in the kitchen (after removing the oak floors.) After a couple of hours of installation work I checked out his work. It was dreadful. Glue was everywhere! The installer said as soon as he put the grout down all would be fine. He was very wrong. The glue bubbled up through the grouting and it was a god awful mess. I finally told him to stop--after he admitted that he had never installed Congoleum tiles before. sent him home then I called up Dublin Carpet and talked to Paul. Paul came out and inspected the floor and agreed that it was totally unacceptable. He sent out another installer to correct this mess. The new installer was an older man in his early 60's (I'm guessing here.) He scraped up and pulled out most (but not all) of these tiles and put in new ones. What a difference. I asked why Dublin Carpet hadn't sent him out in the first place and he smiled and said, "Well, I'm old and I'm slow but know how to lay tile." 7 years later, two of the kitchen tiles were cracked. With a sinking heart, I called Dublin Carpet since these tiles had a "lifetime guarantee". I was sure they never wanted to hear from me again and I certainly didn't expect to be treated nicely. Dee Dee was super polite and told Paul, the owner, who promptly returned my call. Within 5 days they had sent out a contractor named John who replaced both tiles. (Luckily I had a couple leftover tiles from the original job.) John said that these cracked tiles (both in doorways) were installed incorrectly--there was a gap under the tiles and they were laid without adequate underlayment. These were tiles left by the first young man (the one I had kicked off the job). Maybe the comments from the other yelpers who criticized the lack of attention and follow through from this company really registered because they are now really on the ball and take great care of their customers-- that's why I give them 5 stars! read more

I recently was shopping for carpet. I ended up at Dublin Carpet. I was directed to their warehouse to look at some carpet that might be what I wanted for a reduced price. I did not see what I wanted so we ended up back in the main store. Chuck the owner showed us some carpets, and suggested some options. I decided on a carpet. It was ordered, and a date for installation was set. It was installed and looks great. I would recommend this store if you are in need for carpet. read more

We just did new flooring in the entire house using Dublin Carpet. We could not be happier with every aspect of the transaction. They were very helpful helping us pick out the carpet and vinyl for the kitchen. They have a huge selection of all flooring products to choose from. Everyone at the store was very friendly and their installers did a great job. Dublin Carpets met all promises, kept all appointments and their prices are very competitive. Dublin Carpet was recommended to us by other family members who had their carpeting replaced by them. We are delighted with our carpet that was installed two weeks ago. Love the quality and color, the feel of it when walking across the floors. Installation was done by Zack, a veteran floor man of 35 years. Excellent work ethic and experience in knowing how to deal with our challenging "puzzle" for wall-to-wall throughout the house minus kitchen and baths. Chuck Walters (the man who owns and started the business) was very helpful to us during our "research" time as well as installation. There was never any high pressure to use their product or step above our budget. We highly recommend this company. read more

Three different floor experts examined my kitchen floor because it had excessive staining and dirt. The first vendor had no idea what was wrong. The second offered to sell me a brand new floor for over 1300 dollars. The third, Dublin Carpet, said that I had laminate flooring and that I'd been cleaning it with the wrong products. Dublin Carpet suggested a wax remover that they sold at their store. It worked like a charm and my floor looks brand new (though it took two bottles of that wax stripper stuff). I am extraordinarily grateful that I only had to spend a few bucks. Thank you Dublin Carpet. read more

I Had my second floor carpeted by them. Steve ,two reviews down, is correct about the receptionist sitting at the desk. She totally ignored me. Aafter fifteen minutes, someone came out and was very nice in helping me. Two year later, some of the carpet in one of the room was wrinkling. I called them and they sent someone out to fix the problem. They are very knowleable but the need to find a new receptionist. read more

We had to replace our wood floor due to water damage. Paul was great throughout the whole process. He worked with our insurance company and got us excellent replacement value. Paul was very patient because it took us weeks to decide on the type of floor we wanted. Paul arranged to do the install while we were on vacation. We came home to find the work completed, everything clean and a fantastic new floor installed. Would recommend Paul to anyone who wants quality work and a very knowledgeable sales person. read more

I have not gone back to Dublin Carpet for several years, but I received the same great service as last time this time. All 3 sales people, helped me and my wife several times and De was great with carpet colors and Paul helped us with the wood when we went back. We are waiting for 1 more estimate but so far they have the best price and they have the same installers we used last time so I know they are really good. read more

Buyers should beware of this busness. I bought laminate flooring that was defective. I have had an independent installer tell me it was. When I bought the flooring, Paul, the Sales Mgr. said they stand by their products with a warranty. What a complete false statement. My flooring had probelms right away--he said to basically live with it, He never followed up on how the floor was doing, We tried to have a flooring rep come to look at our floor and Paul never followed up. His wife Dedee is very rude to deal with also. She hung up the phone on me when I made my last payment to them--no "Thank You" for spending $16,000 on flooring I am not happy with. Their installers for laminate were unprofessional and so rude. I felt bullied the entire time in my own home. Do not be fooled by the fast sales presentation made at the showroom. Once they have the money they are done! The worst sales experience I have ever had! read more
