Paid over $7k upfront bad mistake,. No one should experince this. I recently mailed a certified letter it came back refused to sign. It's a circus behind the seens You can call me better yet use this info to go elsewhere. In February I was recently acknowledged by not only the owner but by Johnny of flooring 101 both have taken corrective steps to make my home remodeling a positive experience they will be not only refunding me $450 for another contractor extra expenses but will be sending a crew " more than one person " this week March 9 to redo my stairs They will also touch up on the hard wood flooring and throwing in a box or two at no cost... This has been and ongoing nightmare. The install crew buried my tv cable under the floor, then when I said to the inspector that this had happened he sent me a letter telling me that noway was it under the floor. I know that it is and the gentleman that sold me the flooring knows that it is.This whole install has been a mess. The crew damaged a cabinet drawer front. I asked them to replace it they agreed. I had to buy and install it myself. I called Andrea everyday sometimes twice a day as she was the letter writer and was told that she would call back NEVER happened. I finally got hold of Saul and said that I want a break on the price as this has been going on since mid Sept. 2021.. THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I had one of the worst in-home sales experiences I have ever had with this company for any home-improvement and I've owned a home since 1998. Employees and sales people are the face of the brand. James came to our house. It was bad enough that he had a very uncomfortable way about him. He literally just stared at me blankly when introducing himself. It felt very uncomfortable. He asked literally no questions about what we were looking for in terms of color, style, price, or the range of other questions I might ask to gauge a potential customer's interest. Instead, he simply slapped down a number of sample swatches on the floor. All of which were way darker than I would ever consider. He kept going out to his vehicle to bring in more. Hmmmm. Should I trust someone that encourages me to simply lay wood down over my existing flooring? Why would I want to do that? He stressed how much money it would save. He didn't ask enough questions because saving three dollars a square foot was not really concerning to me. I want to job done right. He measured and then quoted a price that was literally two times the amount I was previously quoted for high-end wood flooring for a laminate flooring. Why would I pay two times retail for laminate when I can have wood? This isn't the worst part. James asked if he could use the restroom. He did. About a half hour after he left our home, I heard water running and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. More time passed...... finally I go into the bathroom and it's so steamed up in there it's like a sauna. I couldn't figure out ---was it the toilet? what was it? Well it wasn't the toilet, he left the hot water on full blast. In fact it was on for so long the mirror was steamed over.....In a drought. To make matters worse the restroom smelled terribly. I'm not sure what happened there???? In fact at least 30 to 60 minutes later it still smelled----that way. By the way, in the "interaction" he kept stressing that certain choices were in stock and those were less money. Is this not a store that can order what a customer wants? And maybe next time you should find out how much price is a factor in a customers decision? Saving two dollars a square foot because it's not in stock in your store is not really a driver in this decision. His card says consultant. We received absolutely no advice or consultation from him. Nothing on the advantages or disadvantages of different choices. Even if he was giving me flooring at a dollar a square foot I would not have bought from this guy. So in the end James must have concluded that shelling out over $20,000 would be a problem for us and started suggesting the financing program. He even made a special trip to the car to get the application. I'm prepared to pay cash for this, so again, poor needs assessment. At this point I was so ready for this interaction to be over I told him we would think about it. Now I'm not only really put off by this experience with 101 flooring, I am disappointed with Costco. The reason I got hooked up with this outfit In the first place is that I called Costco - why? I anticipated they would align themselves with the Premier company in the area. Boy was I wrong. My advice for 101 flooring: If you're going to represent Costco you better send somebody out that presents well, knows what they're doing, and can connect with people, ask questions and recommend product. My feeling on this... it's not James. But I'm guessing you send out your best people to handle the Glen-Garry leads- If that's true -warning to all. read more

After posting the below review, the company contacted me to check on my satisfaction. We used Flooring 101 August 2017 to redo an entire house, through Costco flooding. The pricing was ok, the install was ok, the communication was so-so . We prepared the house by removing all old carpet ourselves, and floor was ready for install. There was some strange communication problem between us, Johnny and the install crew. We had a date set and we were ready, Johnny called the night before saying he couldn't get a full crew to do the work on install day and wanted to change to Saturday (which wasn't ideal for us) but we accommodated. After the install crew were finished the lead worker said he was disappointed that we canceled on Friday because the crew doesn't like working weekends! Johnny told THEM that we had canceled! Strange and unappreciated by me. Also we never heard a peep back from the company after the install to even check to see if we were happy with the work! Lacking customer service after the sale, for sure. Still haven't heard back in 1/2018. The flooring is mid grade vinyl plank. Some cuts are iffy and some seams not tight... but we will see over time if they get worse. I just expected a stellar install for $7500. And it's very average. We purchased our flooring for our family and it turned out to be a nightmare. The flooring was not the same throughout the home. They swore up and down that all of the flooring was the same until they came out to my home and realized they made a mistake. Instead of making it right, they stop returning calls never emailed back even after I called and called to just respond once! They are very rude and stick to their fine print which is to protect THEM. This company should be out of business and are bunch of crooks!!!! read more

We hired Flooring 101 to put new flooring throughout our house. Service in the store was great and the floors appeared to be installed fine, other than one small loose area, that Flooring 101 hasn't fixed. We had the house painted before the floors were laid so there were no issues with paint. A week or so later, the workers came back to put some sort of final treatment or dusting on the floor. The floors looked awful - very dull with spots and marks. The workers came again and used another product. We later found out they had used a non-recommended product called Goo-Gone. We cleaned the floors ourselves with the manufacturer recommended product (Zep with neutral pH). Made no difference. Javier came to look. He was very helpful - had a close look on his hands and knees and explained that another product needed to be used and has to be well scrubbed. A few days later the same workers were back and this time they used Dawn dish soap! The floors continued to look awful. We complained to the actual manufacturer of the floor product. They were shocked to hear of the products that Flooring 101 had used on the floor - none of them are recommended. Flooring 101 finally sent Javier back out and he and his co workers used a recommended product - the floors looked 90% better, and we are pleased with them now, but dealing with Flooring 101 was incredibly difficult. I wish we had reviewed other Yelp comments before picking Flooring 101. read more

First of all their Employee Jeanie has been a pleasure to deal with. Also the salesman. The Installers did an excellent job. Could not be happier with the final look. I had friend demo the old flooring and baseboards, remove toilets, appliances, so I could save the $1,800.00 they wanted. Actually my friend wanted my old stuff since it was new and I just hated the color Now for the negative. I contracted to have all new flooring put down in my new house. Turns out the catalog was marked that it would cover 25 square feet (but the box says 12 1/2 square feet) So they ordered only enough to cover half my floor. Leaving us in a rough situation for a few days. However the installers did a decent job making the house livable. Which I was happy about. Again.. great installers. very organized and polite. About 5 days later the installers called me while they were at my house with the balance of the materials. 101 Flooring made no attempt to contact me to let me know of this. I rushed home to let them inside. The Flooring installer dropped off the flooring and made plans to return to finish the job. The Job is now done and I cant be more pleased with the job that the installers did. And the hard work Jeanie did getting more flooring from the flooring company as quickly as she did. Here is my problem.. My new appliances were delivered, prior to the new baseboards being installed. I already postponed that once and could not postpone again. Now I have to pay some one to remove the appliances to put in the new baseboards. I offered to pay 101 Flooring the balance of the contract less 500.00 until I find out the balance of moving appliances and re installing. They declined. They guy that called me informed me that they will have creditors call me if I did not pay. I am willing to pay the bill but I am not responsible for expense of an error caused on the side of the manufacture that they used. To top this off the gentleman that was trying to get the money as we were hanging up called me a vulger name. Really? I am not sure if he is the owner, but I will report this to the higher ups. I was not going to write this review until he decided to lower himself to calling me that vulger name. As I am a retired business owner and understand things can go wrong. We contacted Flooring 101 through Costco. We wanted to replace the downstairs carpet with a hard floor, 900+ square feet. James McPherson was the representative that came to the house. He arrived with a mask. James was quite informative and he quickly understood our objectives. After going through some flooring samples, we made our choice. James did the measurements and really explained the details of how the installation would go. I learned a lot. So, we had another previous estimate. James was competitive without asking what the other company offered us. We agreed to the Flooring 101 quote. It took about a week for the payment to process and the material to arrive. The installation team, led by Tony, called ahead to arrange a day and time. They arrived on time, and they were all wearing masks. They did an excellent job. The installation was very clean. The baseboards and mouldings were installed with great detail. The only hang-up was that a small amount of flooring material did not arrive. It was promptly reordered. The installation team came back a few days later and completed the job. We are very happy with our new floor! We would happily recommend James, Tony, and Flooring 101. read more

UPDATE: As of August 11, 2017, there has been NO response from the owner of Flooring101. Underlings have evaded my phone calls as well as my personal visits. There is currently NO resolve to to their defrauding me by substitution of low-grade wood for my premium hardwood flooring. Shameful, just shameful! LOTS of Trickery Going on Here... At a cost of $9921.99, I purchased US Floors Castle Combe hardwood floors by special order from Flooring 101. Castle Combe is a premium first-quality hardwood flooring product. I paid in full with honest money and expected to have a pleasant experience. Flooring 101 delivered to me old, odd lots and remnants from US Floors manufactured over a 9 month period, mostly dated 2014, in various hues and wood tones. I immediately challenged this and was told "wood flooring is a natural product and there are variances." (This is the beginning of the Charade.) I brought several pieces to Flooring 101 and compared them to the sample they were completely different in pattern, distressing, hue and tone. In their presence they could not continue to cite "natural variances" and then Flooring 101 stated they would file a claim with the manufacturer. I was told by Flooring 101 this was unacceptable and that the Flooring 101 owner, general manager and manufacturer's representative were all involved to correct this. After seven weeks of stopping in and calling Flooring 101 and being told there was no reply yet on my claim, I became impatient and called US Floors directly. I was told there was not claim under my name in their files. I asked if there was a claim in Flooring 101's name and I was told I could not be given the results of a claim that was not mine. (Looking at previous reviews for the Flooring 101 stores I see this "Manufacturer's Warranty Claim Charade" has happened previously and they feel it relieves them of liability.) So let them tell you they are a CostCo approved Vendor, of their many locations, their dedication to the customer and then receive odd-lots, remnants or seconds in place of your first-quality honest money purchase. Let them try to blame the manufacturer, or the installer but delivering what you purchase NOT second rate goods is their responsibility. I am sure this is a wonderful way to increase profits! The facts here are: I paid honest money for premium first-quality hardwood flooring. In its place, I was delivered an assortment of old, odd-lots and remnants -- FRAUD This was a special order so someone switched out my first-quality hardwood for remnants -- THEFT. I was lead to believe this was the manufacturer's fault -- LIES Months later -- I have lost 1000's of dollars, I will need to remove the odd-lot flooring, replace the sub flooring that will be damaged by the removal, repurchase first-quality flooring and reinstall the floors. Oh, don't forget, I won't be able to live there while this is done, and I'll need to pack up my stuff and go through the installation process again... Move on Yelpers, you don't need to chance it. So before Covid I had my kitchen remodeled in the process after the kitchen is just about complete. I have Flooring 101 Oxnard out to install the floors. They did a wonderful job but before leaving the job the installers said he was going to clean the floor to take the scuff marks off and he put something down on the floor and left. After that we noticed the floor getting scuff marks. We tried robbing the scuff marks off, but that didn't help we couldn't find anything that would clean them off , so we contacted Flooring 101 they said somebody would come out, but nobody came, so we called again than waited a while to see if they would call back but didn't, finally they called said they would send somebody out. So the person that that handles complaints was on vacation and would come when he returns. When he returns nobody calls, We called back two weeks later, nobody returned our calls. So we called again! Than Covid hit and nobody is coming out, so when they did come out they tested. it and said that maybe it was a bad batch and that he would contact the supervisor but nobody came, after numerous calls and numerous calls they said they couldn't come because of COVID-19 so we waited on COVID-19 and I contacted them again and they came out looked at it and said they would send somebody from the manufacturer , which was paradigm . So paradigm sent somebody out and ran a test on it and said he can see the problem then we got a letter stating they wouldn't fix it. It wasn't our problem .We didn't put anything on the floors they did but he denied it. So I contacted Flooring 101 Oxnard and asked him if they would clean it. A person in charge of complaint said he would talk to management, management said they would but they would only give us $450 out of the 1500 of the cost. He couldn't get them to pay more so we agreed some was better than none so I sent them the estimate I never heard back from them when I called again I got a hold of the complaint department and he said they wouldn't cover the $450 so do not call again. so what I'm trying to say is do not use Flooring 101 Oxnard. They do not back their work! If they make a mistake or cause a problem. So please don't use these people . read more

I am really happy for their job and I want to share my experience from first day to the end of the job. From the beginning that we go to their store, we met Saul and he start showing us all kinds of flooring and he told is all cons and pros on each flooring type. He gave us more than enough information, we selected 3 different hard flooring and next day he came and took a measurement of the job and the day after he gave is prices for the flooring. Their price was really good and then we chose the one that we like, after 2 days, Tony came for installation, nice guy and really respectful team with him, since they start the job, Tony was texting me pictures from processing and explaining what they do, step by step until they finish everything. I love 2 things about their job: 1) Sales Department (Saul) and installation team(Tony) both of them contact me directly and I feel both of them, their on my side, like their doing something for their family. 2) I asked to change something after the project done just because we don't like it somehow, no question asked, they came back and change it, super fast. I never had any remodeling like that, no worries, no headache and at the end the job looks better than you have it in your dream. In the past years I've purchased premium carpeting for 3 bedrooms twice from Flooring 101. The last time was 7 years ago and I also purchased the best padding available. Two years ago I had a couple areas patched due to wear and the installer brought my attention to the fact that one small area had the upgraded padding and the rest of the room was the old padding from the first carpet job. I called Saul who sold me the carpeting/padding who was "shocked". He said the guys might keep padding and use it on a side job. Why would you tell a customer that? He said he would get back to me. He didn't. Due to a death in the family I dropped it. This past November a plumbing leak put me on the hunt for new flooring so I went to Flooring 101 among other flooring stores. I scheduled a home visit with Saul to measure and I called to confirm the appointment the day before. I waited all day and Saul did not arrive. The next day I called and he said he had been busy with his son at the dentist. A phone call to cancel the appointment would have been appreciated. He came out the next day to measure and I talked to him about the padding issue and was assured I would be compensated for the padding I paid for and did not get. I also located photographs from when the patching was done showing the padding and sent them to Saul. It has been many phone calls back and forth and also promises of call backs I did not get, then finally a solution...They will give me credit when I buy new flooring from them! I told them I am not buying anything until they resolve the issue from the last purchase. In the meantime I contacted Costco Flooring to get an estimate for flooring and they told me they'll send Josh out. Much to my surprise Josh arrives in a Flooring 101 van. Josh advised Flooring 101 is the largest flooring company in Ventura county. I mentioned I was working with Saul but was still interested in seeing his samples. It was the weirdest situation. He didn't "want to step on anyones toes and Saul is his friend" and "Costco isn't necessarily the best deal" and he didn't seem to want to show me the LVP samples. He finally brought some in and dropped them from several feet high onto my stone floors. It was such an awkward scene. I told Josh when I contacted Costco flooring I would have no way of knowing who they contract with. Later after another missed appointment ("I got busy"), Saul and another guy came the next day and pulled my carpeting off the tack strips to confirm the lack of padding. He calculated $106.00 worth of padding. They stressed to me the installer probably will be fired. He has been there a long time and even if he didn't do it he was in charge of the other guys so he will take the fall. I'm just the customer here, who was ripped off, how they handle their personnel issues is on them. Are they trying to make me feel bad? This sad story continues with more phone calls and discussions with Saul and Ian. I even talked to the Daniel at the Ventura store trying to get a resolution and asked him to please help me locate someone higher up in the company to escalate this ongoing matter. He promised to have someone contact me that day but no one did. A few days later I called him back and before I said anything or told him that no one called, he jumped into saying I'm sure no one called you, probably because of the holidays. I asked again who is higher up that I can talk to and he stated they are "just a small company" and "don't have that many people". Hey, what happened to the spiel Josh gave me about being the largest flooring company in Ventura County? So over two years later, or a month and a half depending on how you look at it, Saul left a message on Christmas day to say he can't get accounting to issue a check and maybe he will write me a check himself. This is the best the largest flooring company in Ventura county can figure out to reimburse a customer? I spoke to Saul today and was once again offered a credit on my next purchase. Next I spoke to Ian who says he will send me a visa gift card for $110. Fingers crossed. read more

Used this company to install laminate flooring in two rooms. The flooring itself was properly installed at a fair price. However, the company admitted that they forgot to give the trim pieces that go against the tile to the installer. They set up an appointment for another day to bring those pieces to install. They confirmd the appointment the night before. Then never showed the following day. They set up a subsequent appointment for another day. We again confirmed the night before. That morning after arranging to be home from work, they said the installer could not come again. Very poor customer service when called to complain. Low-level employee said no managers were in town that day to talk. Obviously, we'll never use again, and recommend that others strongly consider avoiding a company with customer service that is this poor. read more

I have a two bedroom, two bathroom townhouse in Port Hueneme, CA. I had carpet that was about 8 years old and needed to be be replaced. Roman helped me and my father pick out a very nice laminate flooring at a very reasonable price. The flooring was installed by Jose A. Serratos of Serratos flooring. Jose and his crew arrived sharply at 8:00 a.m. and very quickly and efficiently removed all the carpeting in about one hour. After removing the carpet, they started to install the flooring. They did a great job and my whole townhouse was finished by about 1:00 p.m. They were quick, efficient, and professional. After nearly a month of going back and forth with salesman Saul about installation and noting time was of the essence as we had a deadline. Made one last attempt by going into the store to get some answers but Saul wasn't there and the other salesman was unable to help me because there were no notes regarding my proposal. I'm a student at America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College & our animals love playing with cardboard carpet tubes. I called on a whim to see if they had any that they were going to throw out and they happily donated some to the zoo! I walked in at 5:59 (sorry haha) and Sebastian spent 20 mins cutting up all the tubes so they would fit in my car. I would NEVER recommend this business. We have a problem with our floors and they admitted. It's been 7 months and still no response. They do not answer calls. I was going to sue them until I looked on the Ventura County Courts site and saw the number of others who have sued them. They keep continuing court dates and the consumers get no relief. read more

Poor service is only followed by poor products. Ordered flooring which was to be delivered. Ended up they overcharged me for the purchased product then delivered extra and overcharged for that as well. They then expected me to return the misdelivered product..what a load of Crap! I did return one box and yet the old guy at the return desk gave me a diffult time for not returning everything at once, despite me being elderly and not being able to put it all in my small car. I never heard them offer to pick up the misdelivered product-jerks. Never again will i purchase from this place..just not worth the aggravation. Saul should not be playing salesman...he is very bad at that role. Never ever returning or purchasing from flooring 101 EVER!!!! read more

Jerame and his crew did an amazing job putting in our new floor at our home. They were profession, friendly, clean and very accommodating.
