Very promising beginning. Sales people do their job well. We had good recommendations and price negotiations. the problem came when it was time to do the install. It was not Floor Trader who showed up. They subcontracted us to someone else, who I was unable to communicate with due to a language barrier. I don't care where people are born, okay, but I would like to be able to communicate with people who are working in my home so that if there is an issue we can both understand what is happening! One of the gentleman spoke spotty English (certainly better than my Spanish, which is nil.) so we were able to work through the fact Floor Trader did not tell him that furniture movement was necessary, or that he would have to cut around the cabinets because the current floor extended underneath them. Or that there was damage to be fixed to the subfloor in the kitchen where tile removal had unlevelled the area. If I had been able to speak to them however, I would have also expressed the fact that there are soft spots in the new floor. Places that bow when I walk on them. In less than a month, the quarter round came off in once place where they had brad nailed into thin air, and a few months later the entire piece under the front door came loose. Where it is still attached it is hideous because the caulking job done between it and the baseboard looks like a child smeared sugar cake icing and let it dry - thick, jagged lines. Why didn't I take these complaints to Floor Trader directly you ask? #1, because I was 8 months pregnant and TIRED. But #2, because, ONCE THEY HAD MY MONEY THEY NEVER REACHED OUT TO ME AGAIN. Not to confirm that someone showed up to do the work. Not to confirm that the work was done. Not to ask about progress, and certainly never to do a "how did it go?" questionnaire. Not once. No Email. No Text. No Call. Probably the only reason they knew the install was happening was because the men on site kept having to call their own boss who would call Floor Trader to confirm things they should have already been told (like the furniture removal requirement). The guys were amazingly silent though. No stereo, no phone calls, no earbuds. And it was HOT but they never complained. I offered to set up a fan for them, but they declined. I think maybe it would have blown around too much dust? Oh, and we are missing the threshold we paid for. It's not one I cared about as it was leading into a closet, but the point is it was on the schematic. Anyway, would not recommend. read more

My contractors used Floor Trader when we had some water damage and had to replace our beautiful, traditional hardwood. My husband and I went in person to Floor Trader and chose our samples and what we got vs what we chose is completely different! At the very least so no other person is in the same circumstance that l find myself in, the company should discard that "sample" of the floors that were in the showroom. How is your company and also the manufacturer okay with me just simply hating my floors? This was supposed to be a lovely experience and between Floor Trader (Andrew you were actually very nice and helpful) and my incompetent contractors, this was a terrible experience and I would not recommended doing business with anyone involved in the future. I am aware that Floor Trader is just the supplier and not the manufacturer but they were no help at all when I voiced my concerns and now I'm just stuck with floors that I truly detest. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. read more

We hired Floor Trader to replace carpet in three rooms at my mom's house. They gave us a good price and were able to meet our requested timeline. We did have a small problem with two closets that got missed, but they promptly sent an installer back over a couple days later to finish those areas up. Overall we were very pleased with the work they did, and the value for what we paid. read more

We were re-doing all the carpeting upstairs and shopped around at all the usual places getting estimates. The salesman at Floor Trader helped us select a carpet and nobody else came close to the total price Floor Trader gave us for the carpet and installation. The fee they charge for measurement is a bit discouraging but they credit this to the purchase price. The installation crew did an excellent job, they were on time, they removed all the old flooring, took care with our furniture, and put everything back in its proper place and finished the job in one day. We were very pleased with the experience and very happy with our new carpets. read more

Floor Trader - Floor Trader Carpet - Flooring Near Me - Virginia Beach, Virginia

We came here after being quoted by Empire for whole house carpeting. We had to redo all of our flooring in our home in a short amount of time and felt Empires estimate was too high! So we went to floor trader and We were able to do beautiful luxury vinyl plank in most of the house and carpet upstairs for 900 less than Empire quoted for carpet only! We did the vinyl ourselves and it was so worth it!! Charles Griggs helped us and we are so thankful! I will recommend these guys to all of our friends! read more

Fast! We needed carpet fast and they came thru. Pricing seemed pretty good and they do financing. The labor cost seemed a bit much, equaled out to about $52/hour per person(!) but I don't know how that averages out for the industry. The laborers were nice and professional, but I didn't like the way they handled one piece of our furniture, but overall they were good. Left a bit of a mess but that's probably to be expected with new carpet. read more

I had a awesome experience purchasing my vinyl planks everything went smoothly and I was very pleased. Then spoke to them about buying some remnant carpet for my stairs. I spent alot of money on my vinyl and because I was just doing my stairwell didn't want to spend a fortune on my stairs they told my was going to get a great deal. NOT... price was absorbanit for low pile commercial grade carpet. Not a remnant!!! BUYER BEWARE be careful they get greedy! read more

Fairly good customer service. The staff was friendly and answered all of my questions. Made the floor order and picked it up with no problem. I discover that I had 3 broken boxes with damaged time inside. When I went back to replace them, they wanted me to just use that damaged tiles for my end pieces. I said no, I bought new tile, I want new replacements. That was the only issue. read more

Had such high hopes for this company, and nothing. Took samples, came out to measure, spoke with manager about floor selection, and requested pricing. Nothing. Not a word, not a peep. No quote. No call. No follow-up. I called them asking for followup, and they had misfiled my quote under the wrong name, and even had even confused the rooms I wanted done. The salesman was going to confirm everything and call me back. That was 3 months ago. Wonder how they stay in business. 06/29/2020 In followup response to the manager Patrick's request on my Google review, I called this morning, and reexplained how they were out to measure, had quoted on one of the flooring selections, but not the other. I explained how "someone' told me they "misfiled" my paperwork, and never responded to my request for pricing of my other floor. Huge disappointment. I worked with Mason, exchanged emails with a Tom Evans, and actually have a printout of an incorrect quote done by Mason on 03/08/2020 for only part of the job. How odd, neither of them "recall" my job request, don't you think? I was able to get another company in, who measured, got the flooring and did the install within a week. I would not recommend Floor Trader, at least in Virginia Beach, based on my experience read more

Worst customer service I have ever encountered. Leo in the tile showroom has very limited knowledge of what they sell. He is the only one you can talk to about tile and ordering tile. We asked him to see ONLY porcelain tiles. We had him call the tile warehouse in Florida to make sure all the tile was in stock at the time we ordered it. Our tile setter (rated the BEST on Maui) informed us that the shower wall tile was ceramic, not a porcelain as Leo had told us. The boss of Floor Trader/Flooring America Maui and Lei Flooring Maui, John Burkett, came to our house to measure for the amount of tile and profiles (metal edging on visible tile edges) we needed for the shower walls, pan and for the entire floor of the bathroom. We explained that it was a Schluter shower system and showed him the exact pan with an end drain. We told him we wanted at least 10% extra of all 3 of the tiles we had selected at his retail store, Floor Trader. We had only one wall tile extra and would have run out if we had not been forced to make a design change after the tiling had started to reduce the number of wall tile we could use. (Had to purchase more accent wall tile from another tile store.) We had only 2 extra floor tiles and we were shorted 3.2 square feet of the pan tile and no one told us when it was picked up at the warehouse. Luckily our tile setter measured before he started laying the pan tile. (Good thing we did not hire them set the tiles!) We had to go purchase a different tile at our expense at a different tile store for the pan so the job could proceed. John refused to refund any money for the useless pan tile ($581 worth) even though it was his fault and we had phoned Schluter USA and was told the hex tile Leo sold us was too large for an end drain shower pan to be certain it drained properly. Yes, we told him it was a Schluter pan before we picked out any tile. I heard John in an adjacent room tell Leo to tell me that Schluter does not set tiles. I told Leo that I would dial Schluter USA on my phone so he could verify my claim. He ignored my offer. We still have not received after more than a month the shorted hex pan tiles that we had paid for and were told today they are in Europe on back order with no known delivery date. The profiles we picked out were never ordered, so we had to go to another tile store to purchase those so the project could continue. Leo had no knowledge of which profile would properly fit our wall tile. John refused to see me when I returned to Floor Trader to speak to him about the problems. I can only conclude that customer service is not a priority with them. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF GRIEF AND MONEY AND STAY AWAY FROM FLOOR TRADER. read more

Charles, Tom, and the team were great: all-around pros. Prices beat other bigger outfits and everything moved quickly with hardwood purchase and install. Definitely recommended. read more

Not impressed with the customer service. The man that "helped" me had a attitude when I told him what I was looking for and kinda told me we don't sell that and made me feel like it was a waste of time for him even to speak to me. I will not be purchasing anything from this place. I understand that a lot of companies pay their sales staff commission but even if you don't sell something be nice to your customers they may need something later that you do sell. read more

The entire process was about as good as it gets. ALL the staff involved were professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We were not an easy project and yet everything went smoothly. Excellent to work with. Professional, prompt, very accommodating. Chad in particular was exceptional. We were only purchasing a small piece and he spent quite some time identifying the correct flooring and fixing our mistake when we chose the wrong one - getting our piece of exchanged and even having it delivered as a courtesy. We certainly wish we'd hired them instead of the company we used to install our original flooring (Tidewater Flooring - they were horrible in every way - avoid at all cost!). Would definitely recommend Floor Trader! read more

A polite greeting when I entered the store NEVER happened. "Customer Service" is NON-existent in this store. I was a bother to the staff and the only question I asked about the tile I was looking at showed that the sales associate had no idea what he was talking about. (If you buy from this store, make sure you do your own research on installation.) When I questioned his answer, he looked at the other sales associate and it was obvious they were winging it. Tile selection is adequate, but no prices or help was offered to me. It was very evident that they are not there to make sales and do not work on commission. Will not return as there are plenty of other options in our area to buy flooring from knowledgeable and courteous people. read more

Went to Floor Trader today and walked around for 30 minutes and never was approached by a sales person until one walked up to me and said please don't touch the samples. Really ....we walked out immediately and will never return or spend my hard earned money with this company read more

The store looks much better than it did years ago. I recently purchased from them and all went well. You have to pay the installers separately and I was a little nervous about that but the guys were prompt and professional. I would recommend them over any of the big box stores and their service is not at all fun to deal with! read more

I had a similar experience with the 3/6/14 review. We went into Floor Trader expecting to meet a helpful salesperson and planning on making a large flooring purchase. Instead we were treated very rudely. We will not be back anytime soon and definitely will not make our current wood floor purchase from this store. read more

Make sure you ask DETAILS about the flooring you are purchasing. They have a NO RETURN POLICY that you sign when you make you order. Sales people seemed too busy and I felt like I was asking too many questions. (This was my 1st time ever buying flooring) It was a lack of understanding what I ordered when I thought it was what the sample (I brought home) looked like but did not have the fake grout like I wanted. I ordered 2 different designs of Luxury Vinyl tile. They offered me a store credit for wrong flooring. I did not want to buy any thing else after the miscommunication. Lots of phone calls & emails later they allowed me to cancel the floor that was on back order and credited my cc $705.00 & kept $168. (I guess for shipping/handling) they told me to keep the 1st order of lock tile since they couldn't send that back to distributor. Which I would have preferred to return and have full amount credited instead. I was happy with the L.V .Planks purchased. Once you sign the dotted line you agree to NO RETURNS so ask as many questions as possible to fully understand each other before purchase. read more
