I recently chose Floor Dimensions for my kitchen and laundry room project. I couldn't be happier with the experience. The sales team was friendly and informative. They brought multiple samples of cork, vinyl and wood to my home and helped me determine the best solution. Ultimately I settled on vinyl. These rooms are odd shaped with many angles and one curve. I knew that installation would be a bit tricky. The installers took such care creating the template--checking and re-checking their measurements before making the first cut. The finished result was perfect...and I mean perfect! I'm delighted to recommend them to others. read more

I had an extremely bad experience with Floor Dimensions. In my opinion they operate in a very dishonest way. In summary, I received horrible customer service. I will never, ever deal with them again. I ordered some carpeting with padding. The sales rep was helpful in calling the manufacturer to determine if that carpet was in stock. So far so good. I place the order and paid. Several weeks later I get a call saying my carpet is in, asking when do I want to pick it up. Pick it up, huh? No one had indicated that it would not be delivered. OK, after some phone calls, they deliver the rug and padding. What next? That meant leaving it at my door, huh, a 12x12 carpet that cost over $1000. I couldn't lift it. Next, I call back as I see that I have been delivered some padding but it has not been cut to the size of the rug, huh? I wanted a pad for my rug: it should fit the rug, no? No, they tell me, no, they don't cut the pad? The answer was even flip - the sales rep had shown me the various types of pads so I could choose the one I wanted BUT at this point on the phone he tells me, "you saw the rolls of padding" - yeah, so I did but no one ever said it would be delivered that way, I had looked at them to choose which one I wanted. In the end I paid the guy who delivered the rug to come back and together we cut the pad and lifted the rug into placed. Neither of us had the right tools nor the right tape for the pad to do the job right. I ordered an area rug, yet paid the same price as if it would have been installed wall-to-wall by them (more because of the binding) - yet, I was entirely cheated by FD. Last time a ordered a rug (from Macys) it was delivered, the pad was pre-cut and everything was fine - the dramatic opposite from FD. I never was told or asked or had any indication that I would receive this level of non-service and there was no one at FD that was interested in providing any level customer service and yes, the rug cost over $1000 - I was shocked. They are a dishonest and disreputable organization. read more

Floor Dimensions did an awesome job for me in two ways: One: They did a fabulous installation of our new kitchen floor and in half the time I thought it would take. The floor looks fantastic! Their salesman was also super patient as I weighed this floor sample, then that, then back to my original preference but still wasn't sure. He allowed me to take several of the samples home to lay them on the floor, so I was able to select with confidence. Great service! Second: This company is a true supporter of the schools too. It donated an area rug to the Albany Middle School's Fall Festival fundraiser's silent auction and did so for Ocean View Elementary School's Autumn Festival silent auction - both are Albany schools where my daughter has attended. I'm really proud when the companies that I patronize also support the things that I love too, like my daughter's school. Cheers, Dawn K. read more

I went into this place to find some tile and get a quote for installation. I took the time to look for a a tile and met with the estimator to get a quote. Everything went fine up until they gave me an estimate. I specifically asked them to give me a detailed estimate that shows exactly what I would be paying for. This is not too much to ask for and as consumer, I have a right to know exactly what I'm paying for, but they absolutely refused. They said I could sit there and ask them how much each item cost and I could write it down for my own information, but that they do not give me an estimate that shows the charges for each item. This made absolutely no sense to me. Their excuse was that they have competitors and they didn't want their prices out in the open. They could only give me a lump sum for labor and for materials and that was it. Hello??!! Of course they have competitors. That's the nature of having a business. And guess what. They just wrapped me up with a bow and hand delivered me to them. After a bit of calculations it turns out the true reason why they wouldn't give me a detailed estimate was because they were trying to tack on all kinds of fees and charges. They originally quoted $8 per square foot for tile installment plus materials when I first went into the store, but the lump some for the labor they gave me was close to $11 per square foot even after I deducted charges for demo that I could do myself. Oh and they conveniently forgot to include taxes and shipping on the estimate which was about an additional 14%. They wouldn't even give me a price list for the tile itself. Such deceptive business practices. Don't waste your time. I am so glad I got out of the deal before it was too late. Oh and another thing. I asked if they had in-house installers or if they subcontract out. They said that they have in-house installers, but checking out other reviews on yelp, it doesn't seem like it. read more

Floor Dimensions: We have just had great service from Jason at Floor Dimensions, which was wonderful because we had some real problems. We chose a carpet from FD, and the installation was done very professionally. They let us know what was happening every step of the way, and the installers were very clean, helpful and polite. They worked really hard and stayed late to finish the work a day early. But within a week after it was installed it became apparent I was having a reaction to the carpet or pad, as I had difficulty breathing. We really didn't know what to do, as I could not sleep in our bedroom, nor work in my office. It began in November, and we kept the windows open and purchased an air purifier. But it did not dissipate over the holidays, so we sent an email to Floor Dimensions telling them what had happened. They worked with us to get the carpet replaced. At first we thought we would just replace it with all wool carpet, but then decided that it would be better if we went ahead and put solid hardwood in the bedroom and office and wool carpet on the stairs. Again, the FD installers were outstanding, and we are very happy with our new floors. I have no hesitation with recommending Floor Dimension, and Jason, to anyone who needs flooring. read more

Absolutely terrible. I can only add to the chorus of disappointment about Floor Dimensions and say I wish I'd read this before placing my order. I paid over a thousand dollars upfront for flooring they promised would arrive in two weeks. Of course, it didn't arrive in two weeks, or two weeks later, or two weeks after that. This was bad, but it might not have been as bad if someone actually managed to return my phone calls. I talked to one different person after another, each of whom promised to look into it, and none of whom got back to me. Calling repeatedly became a full time job for me. The store manager was--surprize surprize--never available and, like the rest of the staff, couldn't manage to return phone calls. I guess that part of the staff training is consistent. Bottom line, find another floor dealer. You can find better prices, and, God knows, better service, at any number of places. This place has complaints with the Better Business Bureau for a reason. read more

We have had Floor Dimensions re-do flooring in a couple different areas of our home. Recently we re-did our kitchen and the new cabinets left some areas exposed. The Floor Dimensions team set up an appointment to come and see the areas we needed covered as well as some additional work we were looking to get done. Everyone was extremely professional and provided excellent service. They do beautiful work and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. I would recommend Floor Dimensions to anyone looking for an update or upgrade to their flooring and baseboards. read more

We did a lot of comparison shopping for tiles and after weeks of agonizing and doing the math, we finally decided to go with a certain tile at Floor Dimensions for our bathroom. The price was decent and the lady was nice, but when they rang us up, they added on $60 for delivery charges to their store. For $60, I expect them to deliver it to our front doorstep, but they told me that they get charged the delivery fee and have to pass it to us. I was really irked that they didn't tell us this earlier when we were factoring in the price of the tiles during our comparison shopping,...we would have gone with a different tile from a different place. But I was in no mood to go back to the drawing board and start all over again (because then we'd have to pick a different tile for our shower to match the floor, etc). So we just paid it. (Later on we wanted to get a bullnose piece to match, but we were afraid we would be charged another delivery fee!) We ordered our shower tiles from Granite Expo, and our shower floor tiles from Sincere,...both had to be special ordered and NONE of them charged us any extra delivery fee whatsoever. I feel very ripped off, especially after reading other Yelp reviews. Wish I came here first,... read more

The best customer service ever! Thank-you Janka, Sean and the rest of the wonderful staff. My fiancé and I were remodeling his condominium . Our interior designer recommended floor dimensions. We ordered a high end carpet and laminated flooring . We waited to have the carpet installed the day before we we're suppose to move in; the rug turned out to be seriously flawed. It was clearly not floor dimensions fault but the manufacturer . We were in a panic! We could not move in, and on top of it our wedding was the following week! Janka, the owner, personally helped us pick out a carpet ( much better than the original ) and rushed the switching of the carpeting! We were not charged for any of it! As we were getting married our new carpeting was being installed! As another reviewer stated, the true test is how a business handles itself when things go wrong; we are so grateful to Janka and her staff at floor dimensions in Albany for their excellent service and commitment to quality. We love our carpet ! We would definitely recommend them. read more

Wow! What a customer service experience I got from Floor dimensions!! From the moment of initial contact via Yelp to initial floor evaluation to in-store shopping to the carpet installation, these guys provided top notch punctual and honest service. It really impressed me that the evaluator arrived at my place at 9:58am for a 10am appointment, Floor Dimensions was able to fit me in for carpet installation with a 2-day notice for a rush job, and the carpet guys arrived on time as well. If I could give these guys 6 stars, I would! The finished product was good too. I would definitely use them again in the future if I need any more flooring improvements read more

We have had an exceptional experience working with Adrian at Floor Dimensions. We needed to purchase flooring for a house that was being rebuilt after a fire in Lake County. He helped me select a great hardwood within our budget and the floors look great. During the same time I turned to Adrian to help me with a carpet and vinyl for a house that was to be staged and sold. His positive attitude, prompt response and clear communication made this transaction memorable. In the days of feeling like your business isn't important he made me feel like an important customer. I will definitely work with Adrian again on our next project later this year. read more

A special thank you to Adrian for all your help and patience! If you are shopping for flooring, I highly recommend you drop into Floor Dimensions for an estimate. I worked with Adrian, and I have to say that the customer service from him was superior and the installation was as well. Pricing was fair, and in return you will get high quality. read more

We had a great experience with floor dimensions! We recently bought a loft condo that was in need of carpet removal, cat pee exorcism and new flooring in the upstairs and in the bathrooms. Tracy Puerto helped us pick out marmoleum for the bathrooms and hardwood for the upstairs, and was really helpful with information about products. Jason Puerto gave us great advice about sealing unpleasant odors before the flooring was installed. Joni helped us get it all scheduled. The installers were prompt and very conscientious. Due to some delay in the production of the wood we chose, we weren't able to achieve our goal of getting the flooring done before we moved in, but the folks at Floor Dimensions really worked with us to make the process as painless as possible. We're very pleased with the products and with the service we received. High marks to all! read more

I had several options in mind for floors for several rooms in my remodeling project. Janka took the time show me several kinds of floors and looks that I could like . She also recapped the prices very clearly . She also gave me ball park figures on the installation cost. Very nice service, no sales pitch! loved it! read more

Our decorator recommended Sean at Floor Dimensions. We started looking last year before a home remodel, and then continued once the remodel was done. Sean was helpful and patient on every occasion and provided us with multiple samples. Our ~2,000 square feet of carpet was installed in 2 days this week and it couldn't have been easier. Fernando, the head installer, is calm and professional, and his whole crew did an amazing job. They were courteous, pleasant and I can't see one flaw in the installation. They cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. I will recommend Floor Dimensions to all my friends. read more

The staff at Floor Dimensions were incredibly helpful when I called frantically trying to find a carpet company to install new carpet in the house I was moving into the next day. I was in luck, they had a cancellation so an opening in the schedule and they were so kind to fit me in last minute! Not to mention I was at work when I called so we handled everything over the phone. Janka in particular was a huge help. They did an excellent job and I love my new carpet. 5 stars for this fantastic family run business! I spent a lot of time in this store trying to decide on hardwood flooring and a carpet runner. I took home many samples and kept returning them for different samples. Choosing hardwood flooring is a difficult task and Janka and Cindy were so helpful with me. They were never pushy and just assisted me in choosing the perfect floor. I found the store to have an excellent selection of hardwood and carpet. * I picked out a beautiful runner that did not work with my stair dimensions. They figured out a way to custom "fix" it so that it would work, without charging me a custom price. * You can choose everything here, from tile to hardwood to carpet. You could outfit every room in your house with the awesome selection here. * It is so nice to be able to support a real family owned business when so many "box stores" and internet options are out there. I selected a beautiful hand-scraped floor in a SOLID wood that was truly at a price far below competitors engineered woods. *The staff in this store made me feel like family. They are the most lovely people who truly want you to have the best in your home. A real gem hidden away in Berkeley. Well worth the drive. * They have several items for your children to play with to keep them busy while you select your floors. My kids were all over the store and never got anything but a smile as they were racing around :) Well worth the trip, you won't be disappointed! These people are experts at what they do and it shows! read more

We went to this store thinking they would be great but got the worst service ever. I would never buy anything from them with this kind of service particularly in this market when you get better service from Costco's little carpet stand plus at Costco will guarantee everything. There is no way this operation would guarantee anything. Look at the reviews of the store that closed, it's the same crew. Never, never would I go to this store again. read more

this place is not cool. Family owned business and they care about their customers. I had a floor installed and there were some problems--difficult install to begin with as it was in a basement room on top of cement with a sump-pump in the room that I wanted seamlessly covered. The later was not possible but they tried to work with me. Once installed there was some buckling and I had to called them back. The owner called me to personally ensure me they would handle the problem. I am certain this is a business that cares about their customers and the quality of their workmanship. read more

From the moment we entered the showroom we were well cared for and were assisted in our selection. We did not really know what we wanted for our kitchen but the sales person helped us choose a couple of solutions. They came to our house in Berkeley and measured and sent back to us the bids that we required. We found the bids reasonable. Our kitchen was being remodeled so the floor was the last thing to go in. We ordered the tile, chose the grout and then installation occurred about 10 days later. It took three days, certainly longer than Floor Dimensions expected, due to the age and slope of or kitchen floor. Tiles were installed correctly, however, there was a problem with three tiles that were off color from the rest of the tiles. I called them and they said they would offer a reduction in the sales price of the installation or replace them as we asked, we wanted the correct tiles. Within a week they were back with all the new, matching tiles, installed them with no fuss and got the job done. We could not be happier. And, it looks great, too. read more

DONT BUY FLOORING FROM FLOOR DIMENSIONS - CORDELIA I bought flooring from the Cordelia store, where customer service is non existent. I was sent a flyer stating that if I came down during the specified time frame I could have flooring installed and not pay for two years. So I went to the store to take advantage of their offer and buy new flooring. The bamboo flooring I chose was not available for 30 days, so I agreed to wait and filled out the paperwork. When I brought up the financing I was told that option was very costly for them and Ashley ( store manager) encouraged me to shorten the term to 6 months. I told her I thought it was bad practice to advertise a benefit that you don't intend to honor just to get customers in the store. I wait my 30 days and the day that has been set up for my installation ( I called them to get the date because they set a date without any input from me and then didn't bother to call and tell me when that was) I call to see where they were and I'm told." oh, no one called you, the flooring has been delayed it will be another 30 to 60 days" I was so pissed off I couldn't see straight. Of course they have already processed the paperwork and had been paid by the finance agency, so they could care less. Anyway, I ended up ordering another like wood that was available. Ashley tells me the installation crew will be out at 8am to my house. At 9am I called and was told that the crews get there when they get there (Joan's wording not mine, she's the women that schedules the appointments, real charmer) During the installation the guy realized that they did not send the end piece that goes between the rooms. He said he would order it and be out the next week to install it. 3 weeks later I call Ashley to inquire about the installation and she says" Oh I thought they finished that job" WHAT! I pray this women doesn't have kids. So now nearly five months later I still do not have a completed floor. I told them that I would be available after work Monday through Friday or on the weekends and Ashley had the nerve to tell me that they don't work after hours or on weekends. Apparently they don't work Monday through Friday either. Avoid doing business with this company unless you enjoyed a kiss my ass attitude. read more

On August 18th I had carpet installed in my entire home, less one bedroom. It looks fntastic the work was done on the date requested,on time, and professionaly. The two men who installed the carpet also moved the large pieces of furniture, removed the old carpet and padding, installed new pad and carpet. They hauled away the old carpets, cleaned up after themselves and vacuumed the entire house! Cindy, the sales person, was very patient and had lots of great ideas. I had my floor replaced by Floor Dimensions in 2008 when I was remodeling the kitchen. They did a great job; nice product, fair price. A few months ago, we had a flood in our kitchen (OMG, I left the stopped sink running) and had to replace the kitchen floor again. This time they had to replace the floor without moving the cabinets with granite tops. They did a meticulous job. They somehow got the flooring to look like it is goes under the cabinets. I'm now looking for flooring for my business. They are super helpful...they understand my budget and don't try to sell me anything! But, the best part is they remember me each time I go in. read more

These folks just put in a Marmoleum floor for me. The whole process was professional and I'm totally satisfied. I think their pricing is competitive with full-service type flooring places, read: not cheap. But Marmoleum (linoleum) is a higher-end item and with any flooring, you really need to see it in person and, hey, having a huge showroom with tons of product to compare costs money. Love the floor! read more

I went several times to find a carpet for stairs. The price was very good and the quality seems excellent. I will buy there again. read more

High recommended as the place to go to start--and finish--your flooring project. I would have saved a lot of time if Jason Puerto from Flooring Dimensions was the first person I spoke with rather than the fourth or fifth. I have been a customer of Floor Dimensions for several decades. I live in a large house and have made many changes to it over the years. Floor Dimensions has installed wood floors, laminate floors and carpeting in my home. Their recommendations have always been sound; their installation excellent; their prices very competitive. We live in an brown shingle house in Oakland that was built in 1910. Recently we decided to replace the kitchen floor - and after pulling up wood laminate, then vinyl tile squares, we got down to the original old linoleum (unfortunately way beyond salvage). After seeing it, we liked the idea of linoleum and looked around Oakland for suppliers. We found two, Floor Dimensions, a company we have used now five times, and one other company. We had them both came out for an estimate. The FD estimator was quite pleasant, and talked about the product with a lot of knowledge, and Floor Dimensions' estimate came back a few days later. We hired them, the floor went in and it looks great! We get a lot of compliments on the new linoleum and we love it. A week or two after it was installed we got the other bid, which was pretty much the same cost - but obviously without the customer service and follow through of Floor Dimensions. We highly recommend them. read more

After finally deciding that the kitchen vinyl floor HAD to be replaced, we chose Floor Dimensions because of their good selection but most of all customer service. Tracy offered to email me other ideas after I couldn't quite settle on a final choice and she followed up several times answering my picky questions! The process after that was seamless. The installer, Brennan, was well, amazing. Meticulous doesn't begin to cover his work. For instance, when he realized that the baseboards could not be removed to install the vinyl under them, he brought over perfect white trim and even stained a piece of wood to go on one particular side. We are extremely happy with the workmanship, and, oh, the price was great too! Go there for your flooring! read more

Love the selection. Good people. Sales guys are reasonable and not that pushy. We ended up buying our needs here.

The service by the staff at Floor Dimensions is great. They will work with you on pricing to make the best, most well-informed selection.

One of the worst experiences ever! I ordered laminate floor that I installed myself. The room I was installing is rectangular with no odd spaces or nooks. You would think it would be pretty simple to get the quantity of floor and underlayment correct? I gave the salesperson the dimensions of my room and he ordered what was suppose to be the correct quantity of materials. When I went to install the floor, I was short a large quantity of underlayment and had two entire boxes of floor left over. They of course would not take the floor back because it was a "special order". I could see having a part of a box left over but two entire boxes? It was their salesperson who calculated the quantity. They are either completely incompetent (highly likely) or dishonest (also highly likely). After the fiasco with the floor I had to order trim and a T-molding. I went to pick it up and the people who work their were so incredibly rude! Do yourself a favor, buy your floor somewhere else! read more
