The experience is awesome! I don't understand reviewers that have nothing bad to say, but only give four out of five stars. I am aware that there is a hipster-induced subculture of Yelpers that would never give highest ranking to anything, but If you are not going to give this place five stars, it might be time to reevaluate your view of the world. My point is that someone is finally doing this right, and the owners have focused on creating an experience that is obviously something they feel passionate about. I was so impressed that they didn't try to push products (or even have any to sell for that matter), that I signed up for the membership immediately following my first float. In addition, there was not the awkward "should I tip?" feeling so often associated with any type of modality. I have had many a massage/bodywork experiences ruined by the product push and infamous weird tip exchange (often the tip ends up feeling like a consolation for the fact that I am not interested in a $50 bottle of over-hyped, "organic" oil or similar product). All of this in a clean, modern, and relaxing environment; simply put, no BS to counter the surprising physical and mental "reboot" I felt after an hour in the tank. If you do the math, it is probably not making the owner's rich to provide this incredible experience, so please return the favor of support. Parking is often a pain at Greenlake, but I don't hold it against "Float" as they are not in the parking business. Make sure to give yourself a little extra time for this or you're going to spend the first half of your time in the tank trying to release the stress of finding a parking spot. I've floated at Float Seattle twice and I've floated at other float places over a dozen times. I really wanted to like Float Seattle since it is close to my home and has parking available. But. Hair in the tank? NO FRIKKEN WAY!!! In addition, the tanks that I have used are super-small, so that it is very easy to bump up against the sides, which is distracting. Each tank seems to have something wrong. In one, I was informed that the music doesn't always come on to alert you that your hour is up. So, the staff member blithely informed me, she might have to come in and knock on the tank, or even open it and pull on my foot (you cannot be serious?) to let me know my time is up. Both tanks that I used had something wrong with the lights so that you have to enter the completely dark tank in the pitch dark - slippery, dark - just seems like a not-good set up, and frankly, I regret signing the liability waiver. I guess that releases them from having to keep the equipment maintained. The other place where I float has tanks with working lights, which you turn off, or are automatically turned off once you are settled. And just a small thing, the floors are cement and wet, and it's winter and cold. It would be nice to have a slatted wooden or rubber platform to keep you off the ground when you are getting in and out of the tanks. All in all, it's a bit Soviet Bloc for my taste. And YUK - hair in the tank? No way. read more

I absolutely love Float Seattle. The staff and owner are really friendly, and full of cool facts about floating among other things, and they have great taste in music. The price is right here; sign up for the monthly membership, try doing a double session on a weekday with the second session at half price. Floating for 2.5 hours is amazing! The tanks are warm, body temperature, they block light and sound, and you can't tell where your body ends and the salt water begin. By the way, you're listing in 2000 pounds of Epsom salts. Drink a big ton of water after and bring your conditioner for after. For drink a ton of water before or you'll have to get out to pee, and the restroom is outside of the private room you are in. I love that Float is right next to Green Lake Park so you can walk a bit after your float before you get in your car (in your blessed out altered state) and drive on the road with me. Please be mindful of your state. Give yourself some time after the first couple to get a grip on reality outside of the tank and let the benefits soak in before flying off to your next activity. 3.5 stars! Not a bad place at all for a float! I came here to use a gift certificate I was given over the holidays. The place has a industrial, unfinished feel. they offer a variety of different float options from the Samadhi and Oasis type pod to the Ocean style set up which is basically more open type situation with a door that opens into a tub/room. The place is tucked away in a quiet corner of the Green lake neighborhood. I was a little concerned that the Seattle Fire station just around the corner might cause some sound intrusion but I didn't hear any sirens at all. probably a big draw for me is they actually do allow you to bunch up floats so you can float for more than just 60 minutes! I will definitely be back for that! read more

I've been wanting to try this for a while, and I finally had my first float this afternoon. I have trouble meditating, so I thought this might help. Booking was easy and I was in the Ocean Room (i.e. larger tank). The tank was ready when I arrived and I was given simple and clear instructions. Let me give background: I have a spine issue that give me pains on a regular basis, I was really sore from the first run I've gone on in 6 months, stressed from a job interview, and had a really shitty day yesterday. I needed some peace and relaxation. Words really cannot describe my experience. I had an amazing time. I'm not going to tell you that all my problems went away... my legs still hurt and my back will (likely) hurt tomorrow. But my head and heart were in a much better place when I climbed out of that tank, and my body felt as relaxed as if I had gotten a massage (if not more so). I felt positively divine afterwards, like I was still floating, as I walked back to my car and once I got there I had to just chill for a while before driving off. Also, I was in bed and actually sleepy before midnight. As a chronic insomniac, this is unheard of. I am completely sold on the benefits of floating. As a non-meditator, I was a bit nervous to try out a float tank. The place is modern, super clean and you are welcomed with a friendly staff that put you at ease as they prepare you for your first visit to the tank. The hour floating on my back in the tank flew by. Being in a tank in your natural temperature of 93.5 degrees, with Epsom salt, with no sound, in complete dark gets you into an altered state of consciousness naturally with no real effort as you float away into your own thoughts and let your stresses disappear. As the music started to play to signal the end of my session, I jumped up from the deep, relaxed state I had floated into with shock that the hour had flown by so fast. I was sad to have to get up from my cozy position and leave the tank that only an hour earlier I had hesitantly entered. Besides the feeling of pure relaxation during and after the float, the main improvement I noticed over the next few days was the difference in my normally awful posture. In the past, I have tried going to a chiropractor and attending yoga classes to try and fix the years of carrying heavy school books on my back. Yet, I had never really felt any real change had occurred. Therefore, it was such a surprise that just after an hour of floating there was such a significant difference in my back pain. read more

Thanks to Float Seattle, I'm no longer a floating virgin... phew. First off let me say that I was super horrified when I heard about sensory deprivation tanks. My severe claustrophobia took over my impossibly vivid imagination before I even had a chance to read up on what they were. I was pretty positive it would be like some science fiction thriller hi bred reminiscent of Alien or Gravity, where I'd be locked in a tiny pod floating through space while being simultaneously chased by aliens... thankfully that was not the case. When I arrived, Alex greeted me with a smile at the front desk in front of a zen moss garden and briefed me on my adventure. He assured me that it was more like scuba diving in space as opposed to my previous sic-fi/horror/action thriller movie assumptions. So i did what any normal person with a fear of sharks, drowning, confined spaces and the dark would do, and decided to lock myself inside an 8x4 salt water tank, pop in some ear plugs and turn off the lights. First off. Don't touch your face. Salt water really stings if it touches your eyes, in case you were unaware of this fact... like really really stings. Second off. Floating is AWESOME. I cannot explain the sensation but having practiced yoga on and off for years, I can only liken it to the ultimate shvasana. I'm assuming this is what the womb feels like. Honestly, I could probably spend 9 months there if I had the right prescription drugs. Marathon floating could totally be a real thing that I'm just simply unaware of. I wouldn't be surprised. Third off, can you guys open a cold press juice bar next door? After I float, I kinda just want to hang out, drink juice and herbal tea while I create beautiful things and plug away on my laptop. I love floating, and got turned onto it at another venue, so I was excited to try this place out and see what different environments offer. Groupon special for 3 floats acquired! This place is kind of bare-bones, no frills, welcoming but kind of stark in decor. I arrived early since it was my first time, but found I wasn't asked to fill out any paperwork. I found this odd, but I didn't mind. The couch hidden behind the front waiting area is very comfortable and I'm glad I chose to relax there rather than the hard benches up front. They have bottled water available in reusable glass containers, which I appreciated for the environmental consideration, as well as hot tea. The tank smelled a little, um, ripe. I saw the nice young man who was in there before me, and it was filtered between our sessions, but I couldn't get past the odor of what seemed like man-musk for the first several minutes of my float. My float was nice, but I feel like I heard somebody else's time-is-up music before mine and it pulled me out of the experience. I then realized that I had maybe too much water beforehand and had to pee so I popped out a little early. They don't offer a hair conditioner for after the float, so if you need that in your hair I would advise you to bring your own. Also, I really appreciated the little bottle of vinegar for my ears offered elsewhere, and was a little sad they didn't have that here. I'm a fan of floating, and this place isn't terrible, but I like Urban Float better for a few reasons and I will likely not be returning to Float Seattle. Since I had purchased the Groupon for 3 floats, I opted to exchange the other 2 for gift certificates and share the experience with others who have never been floating. I feel a little bad, because I feel like they could have a better first-time-float experience than the one offered here, but if they don't have anything better to compare it to, they should still enjoy the experience. read more

Finally, a break. I make it a point to fill every waking moment of my every day with activity + productivity which is both fulfilling and often quite exhausting. Floasis gives me the opportunity to once and for all detach myself from all worldly distractions, including even my own body. How it goes down: Turn off my devices (phone, email, camera, social media etc.), turn off all the lights, lay relaxedly in a shallow pool of filtered water heated to the temperature of my skin and packed with enough epsom salt for effortless buoyancy. Very quickly the sense of touch (& sight/hearing) begins to slip away and the mind is allowed a broader freedom to explore itself without the limitations and distractions constant body maintenance. In this floating state, one can experience emotions more acutely, see thoughts more clearly and feel only what the mind wants to feel. With a history of bone injuries and associated soreness, turning off the noisy communications from my body to my brain (for a whole hour) was quite the relaxing vacation. By embracing the ability to connect with my mind more clearly, I was able to find clarity on personal issues, prioritize what really matters in my life and to more richly feel the emotions I usually choose to ignore. Their hours are convenient for a working professional, booking is a breeze, the owners are as sweet as it gets and the service is similar to a tanning salon where you just show up at the time you've booked, check in and off you float in your own private room. Payment and scheduling are coordinated at the time of online booking so the process on site is as smooth as possible. Floasis, and flotation in general, is surely a positive experience for most any one. Healthy for the body AND mind, plus it couldn't be easier. Just let go, and float. read more

Health is more than just eating lots of rabbit food and running around Green Lake. 60 minutes of peace and quiet always allows a space in my mental health to finally get heard over the usual numb sounds of the surrounding world. Eliminating distraction allows my conscious mind to hear what the subconscious is sometimes screaming. Turn off the outside world, get into a warm state of stasis and float your way into the present moment. It's a peaceful shop where its simplicity perfectly accentuates its cleanliness. PS. My gf and I went to Float Seattle after buying a couple of three float packages on Groupon. They were pretty booked as you might expect after offering a Groupon but were able to get us both in two days later. This was the first float for either of us so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but the facility was very nice, clean, and they offered free parking in a nearby lot...in an area where parking is not easy to find. The staff was very knowledgeable, informative and helpful which was nice as I'm sure they have a lot of first timers. The float in the sensory deprivation tank was amazing and we are both looking very forward to our next session. I am middle aged, but HWP and lift heavy weights 2x week (HIT). I ride a bicycle 25-100mi per week, yet, I am very 'stiff' feeling... It's hard to bend over and I just can't reach out much without feeling some pain. Funny, it has become so normal, I just sort of accept it... Today I had my first float. I thought it would be relaxing and like a new-age experience. I had no idea I would become pain free and super flexible! I can bend over now and get my palms about 5" from the floor, zero pain, easy! This morning before my float I could barely bend over to pick up a water glass off the floor. I am super impressed at how the salt bath float cured my overall body stiffness (hoping it will last). Visited this on a Groupon -- was not all that impressed. I think it's was the design/decor that was not relaxing. Hard woods, metal ... not the best for mood setting. Found this also effected my feeling of cleanliness - thought it could be better. I really like this place. Beginning with my thoughts on the location and decor: They're both great! (clean, walkable neighborhood near lots of other shops and beautiful Greenlake Park) and the interior design is really cool to me: it's a lovely mix of natural materials with sturdy concrete and metal, and generally feels like you're in a special place (which you are, and you're about to do something special). People who work there are very professional, and genuinely friendly. They make you feel welcome and are quite accommodating. Going in for your first time is going to be exciting if you've never floated before, and they'll make sure you know what to expect and how to make your first experience as comfortable as possible. If you have already floated before and can do it without accidentally getting water in your ears or eyes (I clumsily got it in my eye my first time), you'll particularly enjoy the cleanliness of the tanks, floors, showers, AND you'll enjoy the quietness of this place compared to others. Probably the best when it comes to floating places around Seattle. PS: I saw a gross image of slime supposedly in a tank, but I've never seen anything like that in person, and there are lights in the tanks as well so if you go here or have been here you know they aren't dirty at all. read more

Was in Seattle on vacation when a friend referred me to this place. I'd been wanting to try floating for awhile after hearing about the wide range of experiences one can have. I'm always open to new and legal ways to chill so wanted to see what all the hype was about. I was slightly concerned about two things going in: 1) the cleanliness factor as I'm a tad ocd and 2) the space constraint since I can get claustrophobic. Surprisingly both ended up not being issues at all. The space itself was super clean and cute and I loved that they offered my favorite bodywash for pre- and post- floating (Dr. Bronner's castile soap)! One of the guys working there, Sean, (who actually turned out to be an owner) walked/talked me through the process before starting which really helped me relax. You can tell he's really passionate about floating and wants everyone to get as much out of the experience as they can. The actual float itself was AMAZING. Being completely isolated in the dark without ANY outside distractions, I was able to completely relax and just appreciate the there-and-now. I hadn't been that at ease in as long as I can remember (!). I had some serious thinking time to myself, and had some major mental un-locks within only a short time of starting the float which totally surprised me. I may or may not have fallen asleep after, but the next thing I knew the music was playing and it was time to get out. All in all it was an awesome experience and I highly recommend. After referring numerous massage clients here I decided to try it myself and was happy I did. The aesthetics of the place are awesome, a blend of modern and rustic industrial... totally something you would see in Dwell. Sean did a great job explaining to me the process and then left me to my solitude float in space. It wasn't on par with an aya journey, but it was pretty amazing none the less. I think subsequent visits will help me un-peel the onion of me more. Can't recommend it highly enough!! I'll still tell all my clients to give it a shot and look forward to becoming a regular. I also put it down as pricey because it's all relative... I would like to do this every week if possible, but would really have to budget properly... fewer concerts, eating outing, partying, tattoos, etc.... read more

Just had my first float last week and I can't wait to do it again! Everything went really well. The experience was relaxing and rejuvenating all at the same time. So nice to have some real peace and quite while floating, I honestly have never been so relaxed in my life! It's not cheap though so I don't know how often I will do it, but def worth a try! 1st time floater...will have to try again. I booked & paid online one day before my float. Pretty easy to book, my payment didn't lock in my time-spot, so I called Sean at Floasis and I was booked in seconds. He said that was the first time the system had an issue. NOTE (couldn't find this info on their site): Oasis Room: Smaller tank (~4' tall) Ocean Room: Larger tank (able to stand up in, I'm 6' plus change) Sean suggested the Oasis Room under the assumption that the tank seems to have less water sloshing noise since smaller volume. I had already booked the Ocean, and didn't really feel a need to change. Walking into Floasis, Sean greeted me promptly and sincerely. Definitely felt welcome in this establishment. Signed one form, then walked into the back room & prepped for my float as the tank was being filtered. After the filtering, Sean prepped me through the process & gave me some tips for having a successful float . I then showered and hopped into the tank. Being a first time "floater", I had a hard time completely clearing my mind. Also, Sean said to try floating with my arms straight above my head in an almost double high-five position (to open up my chest). I had some troubles with this position, as being just over 6' my toes and fingers would glance off the edge of the tank. Not sure if it was from being a float n00b, but I felt inclined to softly flick my toe or finger off the edge of the tank to center my position. This effected my ability to concentrate on clearing my mind. Another qualm I had floating in the tank, was the sporadic but jolting low frequency sounds. They were not loud, but still distracting. I would like to reiterate that I am in no way an expert at loosing myself in a float tank. I am a complete and utter beginner at sensory deprivation analysis and/or mind/body distinguishment. I believe the frequencies resulted from local traffic/businesses or the other float tanks filtration systems. At the end of your float music plays. The peaceful time alone without your senses... is no more. Having not tried any other float tanks, I cannot compare my experience here. For this reason, the 4 stars is a bit of a place holder until I can compare with other Float facilities. This is the reason my review is a bit long-winded. read more

I love going to float -- been there 5 or 6 times now. They're open late, staff is always friendly, and I'm so glad to have a center in a convenient location. Floating isn't for everyone, but if you're into meditation at all (and curious about seeing how your monkey mind behaves in the absence of any stimuli) I'd highly recommend it. read more

I will separate this review into two sections: one about floating in general, and one about this facility in particular. I think it may be a good idea to think of flotation tanks as tools. Personally, I have used them for several different tasks. The obvious one is meditation. I've also used the tanks as a place to go over possible interview questions (I was applying for a promotion, and I got the job!), as a place to think and focus about new art projects, and as a means of recuperating after strenuous physical activity. At this point, I'm a pretty experienced floater with a couple dozen floats under my belt. It's interesting that you need to get experience relaxing, but you really do. I have found my ability to utilize this interesting tool is far better now than it was when I first started about a year and a half ago. It really is something that just gets better and better. The facility itself is very nice. The décor is very minimalist, which I find appropriate considering it's in Seattle. They have a few different tank models including the Ocean, Oasis, and Samadhi. The Ocean is good for people who are nervous about claustrophobia, as it's more like a float room than a float tank (you can stand up inside it,) however the experience when you're in there is pretty much the same. One thing worth mentioning: the towels. The towels are always exceptionally soft, and quite frankly they're better than the ones I have at home. I highly recommend you not only try floating, but go a few times. I had heard (prior to ever floating) that the third time you go is the best. This is half true. It's hard to pick a "favorite float," but my third float was when it finally clicked and I realized "OKAY! There's something to this!!!" read more

The customer service was on point, very friendly and informative and he really calmed my nerves about hoping in a tank by explaining everything that is going to be happening physically around and within me. He let me know to relax and not waste this unique opportunity and those words stayed with with me the whole time and really allowed me to take my experience to the next level of relaxation! This was my first time floating and I would have had no idea about it had it not been for one of my yoga instructors. Major props to her! Made and appointment and went with a friend on Saturday. The guy that helped us (so sorry, forgot your name) was AMAZING. So helpful and zen like. It takes a little time to get used to floating and to turn your brain totally off. It is almost impossible for me to do it. When I first got into the tank I had the initial "Holy ish, I am going to freak out". But after some deep breathing and getting used to the sensation of being weightless, it is amazing. The hour goes by pretty fast so I think next time I would go for longer. Each room has it's own private shower which is really nice. They keep the rooms really clean too. Bathroom has a blower dryer so us short haired women don't have to look like the creature of the lagoon before we leave. I can't wait to go back and try it again! read more

Months ago a friend recommended this place. A group of friends decided to try it yesterday. I visited their website several times and read articles about "float" as therapy, but was still very skeptical. Aaron helped us to understand the experience and explained with details the entire process .. also gave us hits, so we were able to fully take advantage of our first time. I first thought 1 hour would be too long, but the last 20 minutes I fell asleep. I could stay there longer. This place is very calm and puts you in a very relaxing mode. I'm hooked on my once a month float at this friendly, serene business. Floating is essentially forced meditation, and it helps me remain calm, maintain perspective, and find a sense of inner peace and acceptance. It also softens skin and improves sleep and reduces pain. I recommend you try 3 floats in a row on three successive weeks, then decide for yourself. There's no nicer studio for floating than this one, though be aware parking is scarce in the area. read more

This place is pretty easy to find, tucked in between the U district and Green Lake. They don't have any designated parking and street can be hard to find during peak hours so keep that in mind. I was able to find one a few blocks away on a late Sunday afternoon. When you walk in you're immediately greeted by someone at the front desk, you'll feel the humidity in the air. It was my first time and was shown the ropes. You shower off initially, shampoo but don't condition. Use the ear plugs! I was in the ocean room. The exposed concrete and wood is relaxing to me as a minimalist but can see how it can have the opposite effect on others. Once I was in the tank I had a bit of a freak out moment; it's completely dark, you're feeling vulnerable and disoriented. I had to open the tank door, needed to get my bearings and tell myself to calm down. Once I was able to do that it was a wonderful experience. I would have thought being in the isolation tank for a whole hour would have been boring but it was really nice. After the hour some music gently came on signaling my time was up. I showered again and off I went. It sounds cliche but I felt so good once I was home, calm, peaceful, introspective and ready for my next float. I wish it wasn't so expensive but it's completely worth it. read more

I highly recommend going in for a float. I walked in a bit stressed, sore and work in the forefront of my mind. I never tried this before and for months kept telling myself how I need to check this out. Went on line and found a same day late afternoon opening and went for it. I have never been able to settle my mind in order to be in what I felt was achieved at times was a meditative state...what a unique experience to be awake, however also being able to shut my mind and have various distractions off. To only hear your heartbeat at times is pretty cool. I left relaxed, almost completely muscular sore free (thank you also mega Epsom salt!) and plan to come back on an on going basis. I was thrilled to see the deal for the place near where I both work and live. Yesterday was my first float and I'm looking forward to another! I appreciated their modern sparse decor though like someone else said a bamboo slatted mat or something would have been cool by the bench. It was my first experience and so I don't really have anything to compare it to, it was fun, trippy, and definitely for me, a mom of three little ones VERY relaxing to be alone in a dark warm place...that sounds weird maybe but it's true! I particularly appreciated the hair dryer in the bathroom since I came at night and was walking home afterward...wet hair would have been pretty lame. I look forward to going back. This experience was so interesting to me. I ended up buying two passes for my husband and I for his birthday. To be honest, I was very very very nervous when I got there and saw the pods. BUT the staff was so helpful and assuring. His name was Dean. He was VERY patient with my questions and super thorough and gentle with his answers. There are many varieties and options for the float. You can close the door, you can keep the light on, you can get out early, up to you! I was so hesitant, I left the light on and the pod door open. BUT over time in the float, I felt more and more comfortable. Ended up closing the pod door to have a dark time (the way it's intended). And I stayed in the entire time! PLEASE KNOW if you are nervous at the beginning, you will ease up throughout the experience. It is quite calming and relaxing. I will plan to go back! A must-try! read more

Always curious about the prospects of floating after having heard so many great things from Joe Rogan and Vice. First floated sometime around October and have been floating about once a month since now. The facilities are very clean and the staff very professional. They were very helpful the first time in running me step by step in how the whole process worked and even ways in how to place my arms for maximum relaxation. Overall the reasons I've remained loyal to Float Seattle: 1. Consistency (of all the points below) 2. Clean 3. Helpful staff 4. Great smelling soap / shampoo in showers 5. Great atmosphere Highly recommend floating, especially if you have never tried it before. I took my mom here for a little mother daughter "spa" night for Mother's Day and we both loved it. It was both our first time so the experience was interesting but the guy there gave us clear instructions and was really cool throughout the whole night. It was really interesting and I definitely had a relaxing time. My mom was super scared at first because she's afraid of drowning even though the water is only about 10 inches deep I think, but she enjoyed it after she got over her fear. I don't know if I'll come back any time soon, but I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to explore something new and enjoy an hour of relaxation! read more

Awesome experience. Visited on my trip out to Seattle and was my 2nd time floating. What really appealed to me was the introductory price for your initial float session being cheap ($40). When I got there a male working there greeted me and let me have an extra 20 minutes of floating because the room was already vacant (major plus in my book).
