Hate to the bearer of bad news, but I didn't think the food here came close to five stars. All the mimosas tasted like straight up champagne and we also weren't told what all the flavors were. I feel like when you get flights at other places, it's presented a bit better. I got the huevos verde and even though everything was cooked well, it lacked so much seasoning and flavor. The breakfast potatoes could've been a bit crispier too. They have a trio of hot sauces on the table and none of them were spicy and that says a lot from someone who cannot handle spice. I thought it was interesting that there were hot sauces on the table but no salt and pepper, but they have it if you ask. Service was great and the staff were nice but I don't see myself coming back.
I was surprised to see that I'd never written a review for Flo since we used to get bfast at Flo often pre pandemic. Their steak and eggs were one of the best in town. We came here recently bc I had a hankering for some steak and eggs. I was very disappointed to see that they got rid of steak and eggs from the menu altogether, sad day. So husband got the Guadalajara Scramble and I got the huevos rancheros. The steak in the scramble was very chewy, I could barely chew it. I was bummed by my huevos rancheros; I found the red sauce to be flavorless and wished I'd asked for the verde sauce instead. We were both underwhelmed by the quality and taste of the food, which was disappointing since we remember how good it used to be here. Service was just aight. We went right after Christmas and they at least had lovely Christmas decor up, I did enjoy that. Parking is pretty easy, there's a lot of pay to park on Chicago.
Flo is a great restaurant! I stopped in for brunch and had no wait around 1pm on a Sunday. We were seated and served quickly. The brunch menu was extensive and everything was reasonably priced. I got the Flo Style which was eggs, pico de gallo, potatoes, and black beans. I wish the potatoes were crispier but it was a tasty dish overall.
While visiting the neighborhood I came to Flo for brunch with some friends. We came in around 11 am and were literally the only ones there. The service was alright, not the greatest but not the worst either. I did appreciate that they make their own delicious hot sauces but my food was just alright. I had the red chilaquiles. The flavor was great but I was kind of shocked that they didn't come with a protein of any kind and not even an offer to add egg. Overall it was ok. Maybe the dinner service is better than brunch.
I have been waiting to try Flo for quite a while. In addition to just being interested in the restaurant, I found out fairly recently that a friend of mine from college has a family connection to the restaurant (which made me even more interested in checking this place out). The family connection is from New Mexico, so I was told to try any of the New Mexico classics. I was not disappointed. In fact I was rewarded. I had the Hatch Green Chile Stew, and my friend had the Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas. The stew was one of the best restaurant stews/soups I've ever had. Stews are one of the most comforting foods I can imagine (especially in the Winter), and this one was so flavorful, but without "too much" punch or heat. Personally I could have stood a "little" bit more heat, but I totally understand why a restauranteur in that particular neighborhood would play it a little "safe" on the heat levels. The dish was so good that it really did feel like I was having a meal at someone's home, which to my mind is the mark of many of the best restaurants I've experienced. When my friend's enchiladas hit the table, I immediately thought to myself; "damn, that looks good. Maybe I should have ordered that." I tried a bite, and it was as good as it looked. That entire plate just looked "right." If you've had authentic food from either; Mexico, or the Southwest of the U.S. (although New Mexico really is or at least "can be" it's own separate thing), then this plate will look and smell and taste quite right. So good, and served at the right temperature. That might sound like a small thing, but I've had otherwise excellent meals not exactly ruined (but significantly diminished) by the food being too cool when it comes out. This was not that place, and I REALLY appreciate that aspect of a restaurant's service. The servers were super friendly but not intrusive, and they were really patient with me and my friend as we were; catching up with each other after not having seen each other for a while, and not ordering (and not quickly reviewing the menu although I suspected that we might push close to closing time given when we sat down). I almost forgot that we started with the; guacamole, and the shrimp tostadas. The chips served with the guacamole were virtual perfection. And that doesn't sound like an area where a restaurant might shine, but I've had so many substandard chips (too thin, too greasy, too heavy, et cetera) that when you have REALLY good ones - they leave a mark on your memory. The guacamole was really good, and the tostadas were very satisfying. I could have easily ordered a few of those and been completely satisfied with my meal. We started everything that night with; a Paloma (for me), and a margarita for my friend. He liked his drink, and wished that we had time for him to order a second since there were so many interesting margaritas being offered. The Paloma was true to form and its description, and it's a perfect light touch drink. To close it out my friend and I shared a Sopapillas dessert. It was fairly light and perfectly sweet but not overly so. The cinnamon, honey, and vanilla were a perfect way to end our meal. I'm VERY, very interested in heading back to try some of the rest of this drink menu and the regular menu sooner rather than later. Great staff and service and food.
Came on a Saturday afternoon to hang with my Y.E.S. girls. Flo pulled us in by the diverse brunch menu. Located in Noble square right off Chicago Ave. Plenty of paid parking on Chicago Ave but some free parking about a two block walk. I enjoyed my turkey sandwich. It was a Smoked turkey, bacon. jack cheese, sautéed red pepper, guacamole, spinach and chipotle aioli on thick cut country sourdough served with breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were okay but lukewarm. They felt like they were scooped out a pan, that was left on top of the oven. I enjoyed my Bloodymary $12 with a beer back ($2 upcharge). It was exactly what I needed after a night of partying. Establishment was clean and service was quick. Overall I enjoyed my experience but likely because my company was so good.
Stopped into Flo for brunch. We ordered the lobo skillet and red chilaquiles. The food was well-seasoned, flavorful, and filling. This was a great place for a satisfying and affordable meal. The servers were kind and accommodating as well--one of us had a pork allergy and they were able to make the skillet with chicken instead.
I am really disappointed in the food that was served at Flo. Coming for brunch with some girlies we started off with some cocktails. I ordered the lavender dust cocktail - under their mimosa list. It was incredibly bland. It was purple for sure but no hint of lavender. If you wanted to turn up/ get intoxicated, a couple of these could have you off your butt. I chose to order the portobello mushroom tacos as the other options were typical and overly pricey. The dish did not return as I would have expected. It was an open face taco merged/ melted into one another with a bunch of eggs and sprinkles of mushrooms. There was no pico de gallo but rather a red mole type sauce in top and black beans. I get this is a vegetarian friendly dish but for the price, vegetarians deserve better. There was no season, salt or flavor at all. You would have thought you lost your ability to taste the way this food didn't do anything for the palate. The portion size and presentation for the price requested does not match and it is not ok.
My favorite breakfast spot when visiting Chicago. We visited on a beautiful Sunday for brunch. They have 4 outdoor tables and umbrellas setup so we were able to dine on the "patio" (sidewalk) with my corgi. I ordered the Green Chilaquiles (off menu) with sunny side up eggs for $14. You need to specify how you want your eggs; otherwise, they will default to scrambled eggs. Husband ordered Flo's Original Burrito for $12; it came with potatoes and beans. We enjoyed our breakfast. Service was prompt and friendly.
Very delicious nopales tacos. Felt a little adventurous to try something unconventional, and opt for the cactus tacos. What a pleasant surprise! The texture of the cactus felt like green peppers. The added pumpkin seeds offered a pleasant crunch to the bite. Recommend to vegetarians. read more

Plus: portion size, no waiting for a table (brunch), in and out in under an hour, chorizo tamale hash Minus: steak Benedict: eggs weren't runny at all, benedicts sat on top of a bed of raw spinach, which would warrant a comment on "Chopped" akin to "hard to eat without sauce together with rest of the dish", "half-assed attempt to add vegetables, freshness, color to the plate". For the record, waitress said it would be on top of the benedict. There was no sauce on the spinach and eggs didn't ooze over so it was dry and hard to incorporate. Ordered a size of chicken apple sausage because the dish didn't come with potatoes or vegetables (besides the awkward spinach), and paid $3.50 for 2 thin and tiny sausages, which are not even made in house so that's pretty pathetic (see photo). I will say that they were incredibly delicious, the apple (or honey?) came through strongly. Rojo Bloody Mary is good but doesn't taste that unique Kale smoothie is fantastic. read more
Flo's website says it best: "Flo brings the foods and flavors of the American Southwest to Chicago. Our food is fresh and from scratch and shows a fondness for spice. Flo is a contemporary casual cafe, offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and a full bar." So when we decided to go I was very interested in trying some southwestern brunch flavors. However I changed my mind when I saw the menu. It's a great weekend brunch menu with plenty of options: sweets, eggs, lunch options and southwestern influenced brunch choices (Huevos Rancheros,Huevos Verdes,Red Chilaquiles,Flo's Original Burrito,Chorizo Scramble...you get the idea). Maybe I spoiled my Huevos appetite the weekend previous at Milk & Honey, but I could not pass up on banana chocolate chip pancakes. Erica went traditional with a breakfast platter of eggs, toast, bacon and potatoes. Geoff always gets the granola with yogurt - a decision I understood after my small taste. Finally, I had to sit across from Ashley's very tempting french toast. We had a nice meal. Simple, fast, cheap ($60 all in for the table) and tasty. Those are the aspects that make a great neighborhood spot that makes you want to return often (and I think Geoff and Ashley qualify?) I'm very interested in sampling their regular lunch/dinner menu or something with salsa and chilies for brunch. Next time. read more
A cousin that used to live in Chicago recommended Flo's as a must for brunch during one of my frequent visits to the city from California. Flo's did not disappoint. I was torn between ordering the skirt steak eggs benedict and the cocoa or fruity pebbles french toast. I ultimately went with the skirt steak eggs benedict and it was fantastic! The skirt steak and eggs benedict were cooked perfectly and really complimented each other. My friend order the chorizo scramble and absolutely loved it as well. Portion sizes were definitely hearty so bring your appetite. We topped off the brunch with a mimosa sampler. The hibiscus mimosa was absolutely delicious and so refreshing. Can't wait to go back! Great spot!! Love the option of some great Mexican breakfast dishes or sweet and savory plates. Service was great. Cocktails, coffee, and juices are all amazing. Sunday morning 9:15am, got in. 45 mins later, definite wait at the door. The early bird catches the worm!! read more
Met a friend here for lunch- SO GLAD SHE PICKED THIS PLACE!!! We came in and were seated immediately. We sat and chit chatted a bit before we ordered and our waiter didn't seem to care. We ordered the green chicken enchiladas, which came with rice and beans and pico de gallo. I cannot tell you how delicious this was! Just get it! Don't even think twice!!! Presentation was on point! We also ended up splitting the fish tacos which were really yummy too. Perfect balance of flavors. This place isn't a typical mexican joint- really nice twist!!! A+ ambiance and even better waiter! Wow this place was so legit for brunch. I wanted to try everything on the menu! I decided on this amazing dish with a side of Hatch green chiles. The eggs were perfectly poached and the corn masa soaked up every bit of flavor. The red chili added a nice kick. Can't wait to go back and try more! read more
I didn't think this restaurant was anything special. I got the Flo egg white omelette and I wasn't even totally full after spending $9 on eggs and potatoes... the Asiago cheese was subtle and just noticeable enough without being too strong. The poblano sauce was bland though and the salsa verde on the table was barely enough to give the dish any flavor. The potatoes were also bland. The grapefruit juice was $4, which is a ridiculous amount to spend on juice imho. The fruity pebble trench toast didn't live up to my expectations either. I would have been happier eating a bowl of cereal. The service was friendly and quick, so no complaints there. I don't think I would come back. read more

mmmmmm mmmm goood. Mexican breakfast--who couldnt love this idea? The chili verde bloody mary is incredibly spicy and flavorful. So great! Skip the rojo bloody mary! I started with sharing the Triple Berry-Zabione French Toast. Perfect! Then I got the ranchero burrito with chicken instead of beef and my boyfriend got the Chorizo Hash. We loved both dishes! The hash came on top of polenta instead of potatoes was a really interesting take on the dish. My burrito was huge and flavorful with lots of goodness inside! read more

We came to visit from California and found this place! Food, atmosphere and customer service were great! We took the loop to get here and it was definitely worth the trip. It was a nice little hole in the wall. I tell everyone to come here when they're going to visit Chicago! Definitely will be back when I come to Chicago again! read more

This place never disappoints. My bf and I have been here a couple of times now for brunch and both times it's been nothing less than fantastic! Large portions, spicy bloodies and many varieties of mimosas. This place gets crowded, but the wait is never long. Friendly and quick service also. Highly recommended! read more

The best of the best. They have Farm to table meats. Fresh sea food and black beans that are fresh and pure. Get the green Bloody Marys! Casual service makes them locale fine and homey. I cannot recommend dinner enough. Brunch is get they're know for. But don't miss dinners. Last time I had the vegetarian burrito and I'm not even a vegetarian. The strip todtada is light and tasty. Carne anything! Don't miss the muscles. read more

I had really high expectations walking in and sadly it did not live up to those expectations. The atmosphere was cute and despite being pretty busy they seated us quickly. We got the mimosa flight which was probably the highlight of brunch! I loved all 3 in the flight, although at $12 it was a little pricey. The food came quickly. We got French toast and the steak egg Benedict. The French toast was simple and plain, nothing special. The steak eggs Benedict was good but the bread was soggy and the steak was not the best. The service was slow after we got the food and we were ignored for awhile (took us probably 35 minutes to get a check). Overall it was only average and I don't know if I would return. I will say some of their egg dishes looked interesting so maybe I would go back to try one of those... read more

This place is great for brunch! Not only is it easy to find parking in the neighborhood on the weekend, but there is great tasting complimentary coffee while you wait for a table. While the place was really crowded, the wait was only 15 minutes at noon on a Sunday. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and the staff is very nice. We had a sweet and savory combo with the Red Chilaquiles and Flo's famous Fruity Pebbles french toast. The chilaquiles were very flavorful with a good level of spice. The french toast was nicely balanced and not overly sweet. The Fruity Pebbles add a nice crunchy texture, which makes this french toast truly unique. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! read more

First time dining here was the best but the second time just wasn't as best as the first only because my steak Benedict wasn't as amazing as the first one. The steak was really grey and tough the first one was a perfect dark outside slight pink center nice chewy. Fruity pebbles French toast was good. Ordered a mimosa flight for $12 glasses are small and 3/4 filled. Delicious though . Chilaquiles with mole sauce and chicken was yummy too read more

So so good! My group of 3 went for brunch last weekend: arrived around 11:30am, 20 minute wait, coffee available to us while we waited, generous portions, delicious food (Chorizo-Tamale Hash, Huevos Rancheros, Flo's Burrito and the Fruity Pebbles French Toast), red AND green chile, polite and enjoyable people from start to finish. read more

Came here in search for some good Chicago food specifically Chilaquiles. I ordered the red chilaquiles and it did not disappoint. Was nice and spicy but not too much. The chips had some crunch left to it which was awesome. I love Chicago food! Also had the flight mimosa flight which I'm not a big mimosa guy but that was nice as well.. read more
Friends and I went here for Saturday brunch during our visit in Chicago. The fruity pebbles French toast was a little too sweet but the fruit French toast was really good! The chicken enchiladas were decent. Customer service was sub par but they do give free coffee while you wait for a table. read more

Brunch ends at 4pm on Saturday and 3pm on Sundays.
How loud is it in here? How are interiors-is there good day light and is it lively or is it cozy?
More lively than cozy. It can be pretty busy. I love this place but I would want something a little more intimate on a first day. Every other date go here, because it is wonderful, but the first date pick something more cozy.
Do you play music during Saturday brunch?
We don’t have live music. We do have music playing through our speakers.
Do they take reservations on weekends?
