This was my second time going to Casa Tequila. The first time was a couple of years ago for a birthday dinner, and we decided to repeat that tradition this year. As far as service goes, it was just okay. It took quite a long time to receive our drinks and also to get the check at the end. While it wasn't a huge deal since we had plans afterward, we definitely felt like we were waiting longer than necessary. After finishing our meal, we waited at least 15 minutes for the check. Again, not the end of the world, but worth noting in case management sees this. The food itself was pretty fantastic. The chips and salsa were great and tasted very fresh. The salsa was especially good, so credit where it's due. We ordered the molcajete with an extra side of rice. While it was tasty, it was disappointing portion-wise. There was only one thin slice of chicken and one thin slice of steak, along with some chorizo. The thin portions made the dish feel overpriced. I've had molcajetes at many other Mexican restaurants, and usually they'll at least double the chicken if they're lighter on the steak. If you're ordering this expecting to be full, just know that you may not be. I compared these pics to the video I took in 2023. In 2023, this meal also included a scoop of sour cream, a scoop of guacamole, and pico de gallo on the side. This time our meal didn't include any of this. Also, in 2022 the molcajete included two slices of steak. So I definitely stand by the value has definitely decreased over the years. Flavor-wise, everything was very good. I enjoyed the meal, but we did end up grabbing something small afterward because the portion was pretty light. With the slower service, I also didn't feel inclined to order anything additional or extend our wait any longer. The drinks were pretty good overall. We ordered a skinny margarita and a mojito. It did take quite a while for them to reach our table. The mojito was just okay, but the skinny margarita was honestly one of the best I've ever had. I was pretty shocked when we received the bill and saw an automatic 18% gratuity applied to a party of two. That felt very odd, especially since I was planning to tip more. It left a sour taste in my mouth, particularly because this was a Sunday night around 9:00 p.m. What made it worse is that this policy isn't posted anywhere on the website or on the menu. If management is going to charge an automatic gratuity for parties of two, that information should be clearly printed and visible. While the food was good, I'm rating this place three out of five stars. Between the automatic gratuity and food portions that didn't quite justify the price, the overall experience fell short. I understand that times are tough for restaurants, but as customers we're also paying close attention to where our money is going, and value matters. Skimping off the top and bottom is going to lead to a decrease in return customers. It wasn't my choice to come here, and I'm not sure I would choose to return on my own suggestion.

We went on Friday at around 4 pm. There was no wait and we were seated quickly. The service was really fast, communicative and attentive. The food? Maybe 3/5 stars. It wasn't special. However, they have $7 sangria glasses and those were so good. It was lightly lit and would make a romantic date.

This place is SO good. We randomly stumbled upon it and best decision I've made. This is hands down the best Mexican food I've had in Chicago and maybe even ever. It was such a good time too. We sat at the bar and Tony made some great recommendations, walked us through the menu, and was just the best. He was very sweet and the mojito he made was also delicious. They serve complimentary chips and salsa before your meal and the chips are so fresh. All the ingredients are very fresh too. They make all their drinks with fresh fruit and the food just tastes so different and delicious. As a vegetarian, there were also so many options. I will come back here again and again and highly recommend stopping by. Food and drinks are all good and they have lots of specials to check out. Tony is also the best!!

Great place to go to. Went with a group of about 25 for a birthday party. Service was great. Their internet was down but the team called an audible and worked through it to perfection. The owner came out and greeted us and was very nice. I enjoyed the three taco entree. Especially the chorizo taco which I really enjoyed. Keep in mind, tortas and flautas (as of this writing) are not on the menu. My only knock is location. There is no parking.

I got a classic frozen margarita with Tarín and a chicken taco salad, both excellent, delicious food

I went twice in eight days because the food was so good! The first time was on a Saturday evening and the place was packed, low lights and great music. I was happy they had one open table left as I walked in. I had the grilled chicken salad and added steak. It was so flavorful and grilled to perfection. Then I came back on Sunday afternoon and the vibe was more chill. I'm sure it had plenty to do with the rain. I had two chicken tacos and a beef taco. The chicken was my favorite. I tried my friend's bean enchilada and ended up eating it all. Topped it all off with a red sangria! Needless to say I've made reservations to go back! Lbs! My server Kevin was the best!

I live across the street and always walk here; being Mexican I remind myself there's food at the house but on this night I was lazy and tried this spot w my friend. Felt at home, bery so kind and welcoming staffs (all 5). The food was hot, fresh and lot of quantity. There's an outdoor and indoor, so beautiful in the inside. Great place for a hot meal with close friends.

I was on my way to Un Amor, but found out it was closed today when I checked Yelp. Then I was driving by Casa Tequila, and decided it looked like a nice place to try. There was outside seating and looked cozy inside. I was seated right away. And I ordered skirt steak. It was very flavorful and tender. The mashed potatoes were full of flavor too, not your typical plain mashed potatoes. I will definitely come here again.

Our experience at Casa Tequila wasn't bad but it also wasn't anything to rave about. The prices were SO expensive. A house margarita was $14 and any of the more speciality ones were $20+. These were for a standard size not a jumbo or larger size. Our food tasted great but it took forever to get our order taken and we were missing many of our sides (rice, guacamole, etc) when our meal arrived. These sides never made it to the table sadly. Our server was hilarious! He was definitely doing his best considering it was a busy restaurant and he brought us shots at the end to make up for the other craziness. Maybe I would try this place again for lunch but definitely not during a busy dinner rush.

I've been asking my fiancé to take me here for weeks and the day finally came. It's a solid date night spot if you're in the mood for tacos and margaritas and wanna stay under $100. When we arrived we were greeted by cheery waiters all bearing smiles. We came on a Wednesday evening so the place wasn't as packed as I assume weekends to be which I was thankful for. We were able to be seated right away. Our waiter sat my date and I in a big booth perfect to cozy up in. We really like the salsa here. It had the perfect kick to it. It wasn't hard to choose items off the menu. I ordered the skinny margarita while my fiancé ordered the mule. He admitted it was a bit watered down so we shared the rest of my margarita. Honestly, one margarita is big enough for 2 people to share. Especially at $20. I ordered the fish tacos as my entree while my fiancé ordered the quesabirria tacos. We both loved our entrees. And after tasting our food we declared this place a solid spot for tacos. My fiancé said the fish tacos were refreshing. I really liked the rice that came with it. The quesabirria tacos were SLAMMIN! The meat was juicy and full of flavor. The food arrived with a nice presentation as well. We left with full bellies and were satisfied with our dining experience here. Loved the music choice of Green Day and some Maroon 5 so we were dancing in our seat while eating. Thank you Casa Tequila!

We LOVED our lunch at Casa Tequilas in Elgin on Randall!! We got it to go so we didn't experience the full on dining experience- but super cute decor & staff was VERY friendly & helpful. Philip had the steak/chicken enchiladas-- he said they were outstanding! I had the burrito verde with carnitas & grilled onions from the lunch menu, it came with rice & beans. Simple, yet absolutely incredible!!! I can't stress enough how amazing the food was--OMGGGG! We'll definitely be back! Bonus: they have the cutest candy 'store' up front, perfect for the kiddos. Thank you for the exceptional experience! 10/10 highly recommend!! #GetYouSome #NationalTacoDay #CasaTequilas #EatYourHeartOut #Feast #Foodie #fypシ゚viralシfypシ゚ #ThrowDown #FoodPorn #EatLocal

Judging off my experience and the experience of others in these reviews, some of the waitstaff here are scammers. Adding large party auto gratuity to small party bills then blacking out the charges? Lucio and Olivia need to get canned. This is unacceptable.

Despite their well-earned fame, this spot keeps the humble, hole-in-the-wall energy intact, small, unpretentious, and staffed by some genuinely warm and welcoming people. Pop in, grab a seat, and let them do the rest. My fiancé and I shared the quesabirria combo, two quesabirrias with consomé, a Mexican Coke, and a Jamaica, and honestly, everything was amazing. The Jamaica alone deserves its own shoutout: perfectly balanced, not too bitter, not too sweet, and exactly what you need to cut through the heat of the food. The tacos came out piping hot, prepped right in front of us, loaded with cheese and packed with flavor. The consomé was warming, rich, and perfectly spiced, the kind of broth that makes you want to tip the bowl. And the accompaniments (onion, cilantro, peppers, lime, and salsa) give you full control to doctor things up to your liking. For spice lovers, this setup is a dream. My one gripe, and the sole reason I'm docking a star, is the price. At around $30 for two tacos, a consomé, and drinks, it's a tough pill to swallow. As a Mexican American, there's something about that price point that pulls me slightly out of the authentic experience I was hoping for. I fully respect the craft and passion behind this food, but it's worth noting. That said? Don't let it stop you. This food is incredible, and I'll absolutely be back.

Really awesome space at a crowded downtown location. Foods were served on nice metal holders or disposable/environmentally friendly containers and utensils. The tacos were huge, and I love that they focus on the variety of vegetables on the taco, which is often overlooked at other places. Veggies also make the taco look beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the tikka paneer, the paneer was soft for paneer but firmer than tofu, a really great texture. And the flavor wasn't overpowering. The tikka sauce was light, which I am totally fine with. The chicken quesadilla was also made well and of good value, the kids all really liked it. The salmon was good too but didn't really stand out as much, but appreciate the variety veggies on top! The mexi-Cali shrimp bowl was not bad either, but also didn't stand out much. The shrimp was good but I prefer it cooked even lighter if possible. Flavor was good tho. The rice was long grain, which I prefer, but they do give quite a lot, I ended up having quite a lot leftover. I wish the had a bit more cilantro or other herby mix to increase the depth of flavor, but overall still pretty good. Queso was also really good, thick and creamy, not too salty, but sadly the kids didn't like it as much. Husband also liked the gochujang pork a lot, said it was actually really really good.
