My sandwich was in my hands before I even got the order out of my mouth, too. Fast, friendly, and cheap? The food must be terrible, then. Nope! Finely chopped beef, soft French bread, it can't get much better. I got the hot giardiniera, which was just right. I saved half of the sandwich for my better half to share in my joy when I got home. She took a bite, rolled her eyes in delight, and said "YUM!" After a few seconds, she was running around the house screaming that her mouth was on fire and calling me names. Apparently the hot giardiniera was a bit too much for her midwestern taste buds. Sorry. Anyway, I can't wait to get back and try some more of their menu. Thumbs up.

They've usually got fun 80's music playing, which makes waiting in line actually enjoyable. The avocado toast is my go-to, and the grilled cheese never disappoints with its crunchy edges and gooey middle. They also come up with creative seasonal specials. Recently I tried the Caramel Apple Toast made with Gundersen Orchards apples and caramel drizzle -- it tasted like fall on a plate. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and served with a smile. Mima's stand has become one of our favorite stops almost every Saturday.

Food Review I came…read morearound 11 AM, and it was a little busy. There isn't much room inside to sit, but we were able to order right away. I got the egg and cheese on a cheddar oregano bagel, and we also got an egg, cheese, and turkey on a Parmesan cheese bagel. Everything came out to about $18 for the two bagels. I thought that was a little pricey for what we got, especially compared to somewhere like Einstein. The bagels were definitely made differently and were very filling, but I felt like they could have used a little more seasoning or flavor because they were a bit bland. I'll definitely be back, though, to try some of their different cream cheese flavors!

When we started to get hungry just being spectators I sent my dad out to find some food. I did a quick search on Yelp and pointed him the direction of County Farm Bagels. Similar to the tennis courts at College of Dupage he said the bagel place wasn't easy to find, but he made his way there. From there he ordered 2 sandwiches and then realized he forgot his wallet at home. Oops. And he's about 10 years behind when it comes to having apple pay on your phone. The woman at the bagel shop was nice enough to let him call me and pay over the phone. 20 minutes later he made his way back to Dupage and I enjoyed a poppy bagel filled with egg and cheese. It was a bit too cheesy for my liking, but still tasted pretty good and I was famished so anything would do. I also don't find Chicagoland to have the best bagels, but this one was pretty soft! This is quite far from me in the North Shore, but if i find myself in the area again (likely for another tennis tournament) I'd stop here for a quick bite to eat.

In light of Rosh Hashanah, we were looking for Jewish places to eat and came across Schmaltz Deli…read more We never knew there was a Jewish deli in the area and boy were we missing out. As soon as we walked in, we knew it was going to be a great experience. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor tables available as well as a traditional deli counter. They also have a drive thru! You can choose to order at the counter or be seated with a more traditional restaurant-like service. Our waiter was young but very professional and provided great recommendations. To start, they bring a complimentary bowl of bagel chips (a unique twist and a great way to repurpose old bagels). For my meal, I had a half American sandwich with a bowl of matzo ball soup. It was simple but delicious. On our way out, we stopped at the deli and ordered a few rugelach. They tasted so fresh! My favorite was the apricot flavor. Definitely hope to be back real soon to support such a great spot! Shana Tova!

3.5 stars, but rounded up because I didn't feel they deserved any deduction…read more I was REALLY looking forward to their #20 Old New Yorker, which I got in their Navel Cut pastrami. It was a solid 7, which is why I place it at 3.5 stars. I may be being picky here but it just wasn't to the level of "melt-in-your-mouth" pastrami standards for me. Not to say it wasn't good, because it was perfectly fine. In fact, it's better than most of the pastrami sandwiches I tried in Chicagoland. Maybe it's the fact that I had to bring it back to the office to eat it, and half hour had gone by and pastrami weren't as warm and the Jewish rye had become soggy by the time I took the first bite. I mean, it goes without saying that the sandwich would have been 3 times better had I sat down immediately and had it. Again, all things considered, it was a perfectly good sandwich. One interesting thing was that I had never been to an establishment that included a half sour pickle instead of a normal one and gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Pickles can be a hit or a miss for me. I like my pickles to be crunch, but some places offer overripened ones that become borderline mushy. Schmaltz's half sour pickle was not overly salty or sour, making it very attractive for me. The more I'm thinking about it, I'm convinced that I'll have to go back and try their #14 Sloppy Paul, which is the corned beef with sauerkraut, which is another favorite of mine. And this time, I'll be sure to dine in and give another review of it to see how much I like them better.

Fair amount of seating and a cute outdoor patio out back. This is the place that has ruined me from going to other Delis. Nobody stacks up to this place when it comes to food quality and portions. Even fancy places that charge twice as much don't hold a candle. Quality non fatty meats, Homemade soups, homemade Italian dressing. delicious soft fresh breads, always super fresh veggie toppings and salads, Huge portions, and extremely fair price. The homemade desserts are to die for and often sell out early because they are just that good. The owner herself is always there making the sandwiches personally so you know they get made with care every time. Honestly this Deli blows every other deli out the water hands down. The only drawback is very limited days and hours open. You kinda gotta plan your visit with timed intent, but catching them open makes the visit feel special because it's SOOOO Good & you're guaranteed to leave feeling like you got more than your moneys worth and making notes on when they are open next again because you'll want to bring a friend to impress. Maybe it was just a bad day for them today, but it was less than expected. Went with my wife and son for lunch. The young lady at the counter seemed to be having a bad day, at least I hope she was, because if she's like that every day, she shouldn't be working there. She had attitude and was short with us. It wasn't anything she said, but rather, the abruptness with her questions and overall demeanor. If we ordered anything on the side, or asked for something different than what usually comes on a sandwich, she huffed and eye rolled us. It didn't make us feel very welcome. We got a number and sat down and waited. When our food arrived, we were short one soda and a side of vinegar and oil. No worries there. I was taken back a little that we were charged 50 cents for water, $2.50 for one slice of Gouda cheese, and 50 cents for an oil and vinegar cup. There is also a 3% charge for using a credit card. The actual food was better before. My combo sandwich was somewhat bland. I remember the hot dog being bigger before. It went from a deli hot dog to a regular sized one. My wife thought the turkey burger was bigger before as well. Overall, I remember it being more flavorful in the past. My potato salad was still very good. The cannoli pieces were outstanding. The place was fairly crowded being Mother's Day, and the service was pretty quick. Turkey burgers take a while to cook. It's always lively but quiet in the restaurant which I like. I hope this was a one time dud experience, and I will be back, unless the cashier has another bad day, and the food is lacking taste.
