Walking into any gym can be intimidating, but from the moment I stepped in to get information, I felt genuinely welcomed. Unlike many gyms that immediately push you to sign up, the front desk staff took the time to explain their drop-in classes so you could try it out first. That alone spoke volumes. Each coach has their own unique coaching style and knows exactly when to push you and when to encourage you. That energy carries through the entire gym and creates a real sense of community. Even on your worst day, the members become your biggest cheerleaders. It's been two years now, and Pro Edge is more than just a gym--it's home.

From day one, the coaches made me feel welcome and pushed me at the same time. Every class has great energy, and the mix of boxing, BJJ, and MMA keeps things interesting. What really stands out is the community. Nobody's trying to show off everyone helps each other, whether you're hitting mitts for the first time or preparing for your first fight. The coaches genuinely care about your progress and make you feel like part of the team. If you're looking for a place in Phoenix to train, get fit, and actually enjoy it, this is it. Joining Pro Edge has easily been one of the best decisions I've made for myself.

I started coming to IronGloves to train for an upcoming charity boxing match. In just two short weeks, I have learned a ton about proper technique while also losing a few pounds and inches off of my waist. In less than a month, I can already wear dress shirts that I had taken out of my rotation because I had gotten too heavy. I can also see my endurance improving rapidly. During my first personal training workout, I felt like I was going to pass out because I was so out of shape. Now, I'm powering through my workouts while still retaining proper form and technique. Lastly, I can't say enough about how amazing owners Joe and Renene are. Joe is a great trainer who really motivates you to reach your personal fitness goals. Renene is so incredibly approachable and always answers your calls and texts so quickly. She really works with you to ensure that you develop a routine that is rigorous, yet convenient. I will be a client at IronGloves for a long time to come!

Joe & Renenne are owners and easy to work with for memberships, classes, etc. They have all your need for sale on location and for good value: gloves, wraps, t-shirts and gym towels (which are mandatory but available for a mere $1, what else only costs 100 cents these days??) I've been a regular here for 3.5 years and am 49 years old. I participate in Tommy's sparring clases on Saturdays at 1:00. Come & get some.

The facility has everything you need, from top-notch equipment to a great vibe. I take private lessons with Coach Kalif, and he's the real deal--motivating, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in your progress. They also offer group classes if that's more your style. The following week, I signed up for a class, which at the time also seemed like they worked me nicely. However, the following day, I realized I had torn not one, but both rotator cuffs. When I got automatically billed the following month, I attempted to cancel my membership, but the app does not offer that function. Instead they make you call, which of course no one answers. The owner called me back and left a message, and I returned his phone call and explained the situation. The owner never got back to me, so I assumed that the issue was taken care of. However, in reviewing my monthly bank statement, they have continued to bill me for several months. I would be very wary about entering into an agreement with this establishment. Update: After posting here and on another social media site, the owner reached out to us and refunded the funds, stating that it was a simple misunderstanding.

Don't get me wrong; he was incredibly intimidating at first (he has a reputation to maintain hahahah). However, Chavez Boxing Gym has become my unconventional second home. The gym's culture of support is pervasive, from cheering me on when I get my butt kicked sparring to surprising me with cupcakes on my birthday. Coach's attitude of respect and grit is infectious. Even the 50-year-old clients abide by the harsh "yes Coach, no Coach" vernacular. Apart from the culture, I can attest that my fitness and boxing technique has exponentially improved as well. Two years ago, I walked in not knowing the difference between a jab and a hook, but I now comfortably spar and throw combos on mitts. I can guarantee that lessons at Chavez Boxing Gym will not be easy. They challenge you, making you a more confident boxer and more disciplined human.
