We went to flight deck twice with my parents while visiting them in Lexington for the holidays. The menu is not overwhelming but is varied enough that you can go many times and not eat the same thing twice. Their prices are wonderful and their staff is attentive and courteous. I've been to various magazine featured restaurants- at the end of the day nothing can compare to the atmosphere of a little place like this. It's fun, comfortable,inviting and so wholesome for the family. I bring my wife and son here and every single visit we are greeted with the warmest, quickest service. My Grandfather was a veteran and lifelong military man- this place with it's emphasis on aviation history brings such joyful nostalgia that I want my son to keep with him like I do. Had lunch here with my young kids and it was a mixed visit. I enjoy Flight Deck. I've been eating there since before they built the Flight Deck shopping center (when they were across the street). But it just isn't what it used to be. Pros: Service was on point. Quick to meet our needs and great with my kids. - Plenty of options for picky eaters. Cons: -I ordered the Lead Sled: a roast beef platter on sourdough bread with a side of fries and fried okra. When it arrived, the outside portion was cold and the center luke-warm, like it had been sitting our for a while. The fries were fine and the okra, while cooked just right, had no real flavor. What little of the roast I ate was very bland as well. -Fried mushrooms - served hot but also quite bland. If I go again (which it's a huge part of our community so I'm sure I'll be back for whatever reason), I'll just stick to the Corsair - that never disappoints! I'm just afraid that in effort to have a little bit of everything, the Deck doesn't have anything notable anymore. read more

This was the first time I've eaten here . This was about a week ago. There is alot on the menu but the chicken fried steak was calling my name. It's under the "Blue plate special ". Chicken fried steak, lima beans, mac &cheese. The chicken fried steak was perfect. Well seasoned and crispy. I asked for brown gravy instead of sawmill gravy and I was disappointed. It kind of tasted like brown gravy from a jar. The lima beans were good but lacked seasoning. I guess underseasoned can be a goid thing in our high blood pressure society but.. it hinders the enjoyment of the food. The mac & cheese for me was lackluster. It was homemade I could tell but it was swimming in grease from the cheddar cheese. That made it kind of unappetizing. I used to love this place but they have lost their focus. The menu takes some work to decipher. It took an extremely long wait time after ordering, approximately an hour, for basic food like a chicken sandwich, which we ordered thinking it would come out faster. Sandwich was very plain with very little flavor. The bun was good but it needed some type of sauce or mayonnaise. They have an extensive desert menu, but their doesn't seem to be a home run hit that they are known for on the regular menu. read more

This place is one of a kind. The atmosphere is almost like hard rock meet little town but instead of Hollywood it's military and airplanes. The servers are attentive and they have the cutest "waitress apron" you can tell they have attention to detail. The food has plenty of choices for a large group but nothing overwhelming. Flight Deck was recommended to me by a local, and I'm glad we went! If you want good food, good desserts, and a fun place for kids, this is the place to go! When we arrived, we were greeted warmly, and had to wait a few minutes for them to get a table ready. In the meantime, we discovered the desserts. Wow!!! They have a wide variety of desserts from cheesecakes, to decadent coconut and chocolate layered cakes to huge cookies and a jelly belly station! We were seated a few minutes later in a back room. We sat at a long table for 6, but we were happy to sit and get ready to eat.The menu has just about every option you could imagine so it was a bit overwhelming and difficult to choose. I enjoyed the Flying goose cocktail, and it was good. It had vodka, melon liquor, and pineapple juice. I felt like I was on an island with the drink, it I was actually in a restaurant with lots of plane memorabilia, and other random decor like the gorilla and Superman. It took us awhile to choose what to order, but we both finally decided. I had the Stuffed flounder with Mac & Cheese, and the Cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was refreshing , and healthy. The flounder was good, but I kind of regretted not getting a sandwich or burger. It was definitely a full meal. My friend loved her burger and onion rings, and she said the onion rings were amazing! After dinner, we decided to get dessert! I chose the Caramel Pecan Fudge cake, and my friend chose the Triple Chocolate Cheesecake. My dessert was good, though I would have liked for it to have more pecans. Food was really good. Service was excellent (and we were a group of 10). I am fine with the overall patriotic theme of the restaurant. But I grabbed a copy of The Standard newspaper on my way out, which was offered for free on a rack on the way to the cashier. Turns out The Standard is a collection of essays about conspiracy theories (e.g., "Biden's Marxist Plan to Enslave You"); major rewrites of recent history like the 2020 election (e.g., "the Biden 2020 election win [was] highly unlikely without extreme cheating") and the January 6th insurrection (e.g., celebrating the potential release from jail of the man who carried a Confederate flag into the capitol building that day); as well as more distant history (e.g., "the US War Against the Southern States"); miscellaneous other complaints, like a strong objection to a new South Dakota law that codifies a definition of anti-Semitism; and finally bizarre comments from the editor about a variety of topics (e.g., "Haiti is the Voodoo Capitol of the world where witchcraft and cannibalism abound"). I hope the extreme, rightwing, white Chirstian nationalist propaganda expressed in this publication does not reflect the views of the restaurant owners, but one has to wonder why they would offer it so prominently otherwise . . . and what kind of customers they expect to attract. read more

After my disappointment with Frankie's Fun Park, I headed to Flight Deck to see if their arcade was any better. I walked right through the restaurant (I had other plans for dinner) and into the small game room. Yes, this will do nicely. A couple of shoot-em-up games (the first one broke during play, bummer) but the others satisfied my craving for blowing away bad guys and aliens. Skeeball, whack-a-mole and other games, including a cute carousel for the smallest kids. I saved the Voyager when they were invaded by Borg. Hooray! The kids will absolutely like this, but the minimum game is 50 cents. My $3 went to a good cause! read more

Greek salad was great; service was friendly and responsive. I think what made the biggest difference was the warm interactions the owner has with his patrons. A handshake, smile and genuine friendly greeting means so much. The dessert cases look so AWESOME, loaded with homemade cakes, cheesecakes and cookies. I began going to the flight even before I moved away from Lexington in 1998, in its original location. Fantastic food, great service and an atmosphere that my son absolutely loves. It's be quite some time since I've been there, last summer (2011) and not much really has changed. The new location is larger with a game room, and unfortunately I believe that it takes away from the overall experience ( why I've given it 4 stars not 5) My father insist that we visit every time that I visit SC, and usually I'm happy to comply. Since I live in Honolulu I tend to miss the southern world that I grew up knowing and loving, so visiting the old stomping grounds are a pleasure. The owner of the Flight Deck always seems to make a visit to our table every time that we visit, I guess it's nice that a business owner seems to remember and care about his patrons. read more

I was looking for a place to dine outside because I was traveling from Greenville to Beaufort with my puppy. I didn't want fast food I wanted comfort food. I got the chicken cordon bleu. It was great. The ambiance outside was superb. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and very pleasant. I will plan a trip to Lexington just so I can eat here again. This has become my go to favorite restaurant. Finally a place that "gets" it. Not only is the food absolutely delicious and hot when it comes to the table, but the service is excellent! My husband and I dined in tonight and our waitress was Lily. I had a few issues with my order and not only was the issue corrected immediately but all efforts were made to overcompensate for the issue. We both chose the meatloaf with tangy tomato sauce topping (you can also have it with brown gravy if you choose, we both got a yummy homemade roll, and we both got green beans. Here we differed; I went for the cucumber salad, and aaa The sweet potato soufflé...hubby had mashed potatoes and gravy. They have a huge choice of delicious cakes, pies, and cookies. Unfortunately, we were being good and didn't indulge...but we will be back to try. Everything was delicious! 2. Price: Easy on the pocketbook...we ate all that and each had a drink for less than $22! 3.Atmosphere: So cool! There's at least 3 small dining rooms and two large...and it is decorated with everything to do with flight...including Superman, and King Kong on the Empire State Building. Plane models, pictures,paintings, and military items having to do with flight, fills the walls ceiling, bookcases etc.The place was full but it wasn't noisy. Also it was at Christmas so lots of beautiful Christmas decor as well. 4.Service: We were seated immediately, our drink orders taken as soon as we were seated. Glen, our server, came back twice, because the menu was so full of choices, it took awhile to make up our minds. 5. The owners: Ted, came around to each table, introduced himself, thanked everyone for coming. Just a very nice guy. Told him I wish he would open a place in Myrtle Beach; we liked it so well. My Dining experience here was a joke. Overpriced very basic food with subpar service. It seems more like a glorified hang out spot for older people to get together than a restaurant. Super good food. I ordered take out. The decor loins super cute inside. I wish I could have stayed to eat. My food was hot and fresh. Still hot by thr time I got to my hotel room even. I had the Chorisitos. Very good. Tasted more like steak than sausage but I really liked it. My meal was very good and flavorful. Everything eas pretty peppery. The lemon raspberry cheesecake was more "cake" than cheesecake. It was just ok. They were very nice when I went to oick up my order and the place was very clean.
