Flecha opened a new restaurant in San Diego after taking over what used to be a Miguel's at one of my stomping grounds. I had an occasion to dine there once things settled down after their grand opening. The look and feel was slightly changed from the former restaurant, but the menu was a bit different in a lot of ways. My experience was a bit mixed. Upon arrival, I was greeted by very friendly staff along with an offering for a beverage. Very nice touch while trying to establish itself as an elevated Mexican spot in a sea of spots in California. My guest and I dined in the lounge which had the same look and feel with a few changes. Staff there was very attentive as well. We were served with a spiced up white sauce and salsa to accompany tortilla chips. Good taste with both. As mentioned, the menu contained many traditional options with a few items that appeared to be a step up from the traditional Mexican items. A few combinations that were described in detail and one that was my planned order. Unfortunately, upon ordering I learned that the Flecha Combo along with the other combo's were not yet available. I moved to the Pollo Verde which is a go to whenever I dine on Mexican food. The entrée arrived on what seemed like a huge square wood serving board that took up nearly half of my four-top table. The display was interesting, and I suppose it accentuated each of the items that accompanied this meal. Pico, Guacamole, and roasted pepper were served atop a leaf and included a serving of beans and rice. The Pollo Verde was a good serving and was accompanied with several tortillas wrapped in parchment. While the serving instrument was unique, the food was equally unique, but not in a good way. The pollo was plentiful, but the Verde sauce was heavy on the tangy side and not as much on the spicy. The beans had a bit of after taste which was not appealing and the plating instrument was a miss. There was there was very little room on the table to place a drink nearby. My thoughts were that a bigger plate would suffice perfectly and eliminate the empty space between each of the items on my plate. The tortillas served in the parchment caused them to cool after the first one. Overall, okay, but not something I would order again. Being a restaurant located in my circle, I was disappointed mostly by the food. There was such huge fanfare when it opened which built up some anticipation. Unfortunately, the food came up short for me. I good concept to elevate Mexican food to compete against some of other spots that have been super popular. Flecha has potential, but needs to make some refinements before it gets to that level. They have the service and ambience and creativity, but fall a bit short on flavor, in my opinion. I'll have to give Flecha another try, but I'll wait a bit to give them a chance to bring their combinations together and possibly make further refinements to their recipes. read more

Never left a review before, but this experience was bad enough that I had to. I've been here at least 10 times, the first 8 were great, but the last 2 visits have been terrible. Customer service was horrible. Our server barely checked on us, and it took over 10 minutes just to get her attention for the check. Another server noticed how upset we were and came over to help instead. Food was just okay. I ordered the birria tacos and one taco was all fat and inedible. The server did bring extra meat, but that taco should've never been served like that in the first place. The hostesses were also rude and unwelcoming. Marky Mark's Mexican restaurant took over Miguel's. The restaurant basically looks the same as when it was Miguel's. Fortunately, there are plenty of pros to this new spot. Complimentary welcome cocktail, Taco Tuesday & Happy Hour deals that are a steal & fun vibes. It was packed the both times I came but the service was much quicker during my second visit. The dishes here are pricey, definitely a restaurant meant for 4s Ranch. I probably will not come back unless it is for cocktails or during their deals because the food was just okay. I ordered the Carnitas Flautas & I am used to deep fried flour tortillas but these were corn tortillas. If not, then it was super burnt flour tortillas. I had a very disappointing experience at Flecha Cantina in Four S Ranch on Taco Tuesday, May 5. My wife, her sister, and I had a reservation but still waited 30 minutes for our table which turned out to be at the bar in a corner. Once seated, drink and food quality were poor. Our skinny margaritas took a long time and were overly sweet (doubt they were "skinny"). My Al Pastor chicken tacos were bland, and the taco bar my wife and her sister chose was depleted and poorly maintained. We alerted a manager but never saw her again. The only bright spot was our server, who tried to make things right with a free dessert. What made this especially disappointing is that we had enjoyed two previous visits to Flecha. This week we went to another local mexican restaurant, not owned by a movie star, and the tacos were far and away much better and more affordable. My mom and I tried this spot out last night. We had been before when it was Miguel's. Upon entry, we were greeted with a complementary beverage. That was a unique touch and very tasty. The space looks almost the same. We got an amazing seat facing the outside fire pit. Our server, Shane, was one of the best servers we've ever had. Super attentive and friendly. Now to the food. The prices here are insane for Mexican food. In my opinion, it was good, but nothing super special to justify the price. Really nice, upscale and comfortable place for happy hour and dinner. I sat at the bar with my friend for happy hour and had amazing service from the bartenders. Drinks were well balanced- not too sweet, each one made from scratch- no margarita mix! Food was nice- we took advantage of the happy hour menu. Sampled the complimentary tortilla chips with fresh salsa and queso cheese sauce. Also had a side order of the spicy cheese, and an assortment of the street tacos. I really wanted to love Flecha, especially since it's a new establishment in the 4S area, but unfortunately my first visit fell short of expectations. I understand that new restaurants have kinks to work out, but some basics were missed. When a customer is seated, if chips and salsa are standard, they should be brought out promptly. We ordered tableside guacamole, which was prepared without any chips at the table, which felt like an odd oversight. Additionally, we were not offered water initially, and even after requesting it, it never arrived. These may seem like small things, but they are part of the overall dining experience and first impressions matter--especially for a new restaurant. I truly hope Flecha succeeds in 4S, as the area could use more great dining options. With better attention to service basics, this restaurant has potential, but for now, there are definitely a few kinks that need to be perfected. read more

Me and my parents went here on Mother's Day, my mom ordered this (don't remember what it's called) WE DIDNT KNOW IT WAS GONNA BE THIS BIG, mind u we sat on a small round table which was like at a small little corner, EVEN THE WAITRESS FORGOT ABOUT US THE WHOLE NIGHT. The food was plain, they didn't ask her why kind of tortillas she wanted (she has a gluten allergy). Even though other reviews warned that Flecha was over priced for what you get, my wife and I tried anyway. Mistake. - waited for service for 10 minutes after being seated. Was not seated with menus, another 10 minutes wait. Had to go and get water from the bar as our waitress was no where in sight. Tequila average, table side guac was good and ceviche (crudo) was fresh but all in all - not worth the cost or the wait. Won't be coming back. Side note. Enough with the branding Mark Wahlberg. The bowl was excellent and the torta was ok but not so great as it lacked some kick. A little bland. Serving was huge. Prices for lunch items are reasonable and a little high for dinner menu. Had lunch with a friend today and lunch wasn't too bad! When you arrive, you are greeted with a sample of their guava margarita, I appreciate and loved it! We ordered 3 shots of titos, 2 guava margaritas with titos, ceviche crudo, beet salad, 3 carne asada tacos and fried ice cream. Our bill ~$165 with tip. Pro's - sample of the guava margarita, they serve Miguel's queso and the flavor of the ceviche. Fried ice cream has a lil flamed presentation. Con's - we asked for the food to be spaced out with the ceviche first then salad and tacos. Unfortunately, everything came out at once so our salad was a bit wilted from all the dressing and our tacos were no longer warm. The fried ice cream wasn't what we expected, they use cereal/ cinnamon crunch toast which was not crispy and stale. We asked to switch out to the churros and they had no issue. The decor looks the same as before. Would have liked an upgrade like the other locations. I'll give Flecha another chance, maybe happy hour will be better. read more

Came in on a Saturday evening with my mom around 7:30 PM. Hostesses were really nice, greeted us right away and let us know that there's a 40 minute wait for a table, or we can self seat at the bar/upper lounge area. We chose the bar area. The ambiance was pretty nice. Nothing exceptional but the place felt clean and spacious. There were two guys working the bar right in front of us, one had black hair with a trimmed beard and the other guy was shaven with curly black hair. Both of them were a 5/5 with service, and we were grateful with their recommendations. We weren't served with utensils or chips right away. We ordered the ceviche crudo and by the time that arrived we still didn't have utensils or chips. One of the guys at the bar helped us out. We ordered three things: ceviche crudo, seabass, and half a rack of baby back rib plate. The crudo was 5/5. Spicy, tangy and delicious. The seabass was 3/5. The fish felt undercooked and the middle part was noticeably cold. The baby back ribs place was a 3/5 for me. The plate itself was pretty substantial with how much came with it, but lowkey I wouldn't come back for the rib plate. If I wanted that I'll just drive to Phils BBQ lol. Overall decent experience. I'll probably come back to check out the happy hour sometime. read more

My family had the joy of coming for Flecha's Thanksgiving buffet. The staff was very friendly, attentive, quick, and they communicated well with each other. This contributed to a welcoming atmosphere, along with adults being provided mimosas upon entering (if interested) and they had upbeat music playing. The restaurant was clean, classy, and offered indoor and outdoor seating. I was super impressed by the wide variety of food offered from brunch classics of sausage links, bacon, waffles, coin-sized pancakes, and fresh fruit to Mexican dishes of enchiladas, fajitas, and birria -- plus so much more like baby back ribs, cajun shrimp, and shrimp cocktail. The carving station featured roast beef with au jus that had fresh rosemary, turkey with freshly-made gravy (I could see the bits of turkey in it), and ham. There were nice discs of sweet potatoes too. To help with pickier palates held by our younger family members, they even had tater tots, chicken strips, mac & cheese, and cereal! Beverage-wise in the buffet line, there was lemonade, horchata, jamaica, milk, and chocolate milk and you could order other drinks too. For dessert there was flan, pumpkin pie, apple pie, jello, cookies, and more. Showstoppers were cotton candy spun in front of you, plus the chocolate fountain with strawberries and marshmallows. I have very picky eaters in my household and it was nice to be able to go somewhere that could satisfy everyone! The food tasted great. My favorite was probably the birria - it was moist, tender, and had great flavor. I think that the buffet offered great value for the money given the delicious food, the great service, and positive atmosphere. We look forward to returning! read more

I checked out 4S Ranch's newest restaurant, Flecha Cantina, a brand developed by actor and entrepreneur Mark Wahlberg. It's operating in the space formerly occupied by Miguel's Cocina which unfortunately had a checkered past at this location. This is Flecha's third restaurant, with two other locations operating in Huntington Beach and Las Vegas. I arrived at 3:00 pm and decided to focus my observations solely on Happy Hour. Having visited Miguel's here numerous times before, I recognized upon entering that the bones and layout remained the same, however the big change was the color scheme. All the cheerful reds and oranges were gone, replaced by deep browns and blacks that presented a most brooding vibe. Even the silverware was black! The other thing I noticed right off the bat was the sheer volume of staff working. The hostess station alone had three ladies working the desk. I can't imagine their enormous payroll budget here! It was evident though everyone was aiming to please and make a good first impression. After entering and approaching the hostess station I was offered a complimentary guava margarita! It was a small amount in a champagne glass with no ice, served at room temperature, somewhat sticky on the outside. All these glasses were pre-prepared, sitting in a rather undignified large black plastic bin at the hostess desk. I really like this concept and have experienced it at other nice restaurants. I do think they should put some more thought into how they pull this off though. I mentioned that I was just going to be sitting at the bar and one of the hostess ladies accompanied me with a massive menu in hand. Service so far is making a really good impression. Including the bartender who was nice, thoughtful, and engaging in a balanced way, not over the top. There were at least three manager-looking types working among the teams. Older, well dressed, seemingly in charge. On to the food and drink... Happy Hour is Monday - Friday from 3:00 - 7:00 pm, plus Sunday - Thursday from 9:00 pm - Close. The only HH beer option is the "Domestic Draft Beer Pint" for $6. Your choices are Michelob or Budweiser! Not really a good deal at $6 for those beers. The HH Flecha Marg for $10 was average tasting yet beautifully presented. Next came Chips & Salsa service. First, the salsa looked great! A generous portion accompanied the chips, served in a beautiful dish. While I enjoyed the taste and texture, there was virtually no spice heat to it. They did pull out these bottles of what looked like a habanero sauce to doctor things up a bit. The salsa here is definitely geared for the timid. The chips themselves were terrible. Very institutional tasting, bland and borderline stale. I can get a much better chips & salsa service at On the Border. Next, I ordered the HH "Carnitas Flautas" for $10. Includes salsa quemada, guacamole, Monterey jack & chihuahua cheeses, crema blanca and pickled red onion. At first, I was wondering if they served me the HH Taquitos de Pollo by mistake, but I don't think so. I know flauta literally means "flute", but in the context of San Diego Mexican food, calling these flautas is very misleading. The salsa and crema were artfully drizzled on top, the guacamole was a good amount, but the cheeses were unfortunately indiscernible. Aside from all that, they did taste great! I wouldn't consider two taquitos for $10 a good HH value though, even by todays inflationary standards. Maybe it's all the fussy accoutrements they add, no doubt with culinary tweezers. I do look forward to visiting Flecha again to try some dinner main dishes. I do consider the food experiences I've had so far to be an unfortunate juxtaposition to the gold-plated prices. Service and ambiance were GREAT but the prices ($10 margs on happy hour otherwise almost $20 not on HH) we're ok, but not super good. The presentation is nice but they don't use real fruit juice (they use juice infused puree/syrup that's store bought) and the food was good but kind of pricey. On the plus side, there's complimentary chips and salsa and cheese dip, servers were fantastic and the restaurant is really pretty. Just a little too pricey for not using super fresh ingredients is my only compliant. read more

Such a beautiful restaurant. The quick renovation looks amazing. The service is excellent and the food is amazing. I like the bar area which is comfy and has multiple tvs available for live sports. Strong drinks and heavy pours equals the perfect combo. The patio is perfect for an intimate meal especially if next to the fireplace. Welcome to 4S! However, the management came to our table several times to ensure that we were being taken care of once they were made aware of the situation. You can't fault them for that. From our reservation experience with Lizabeth to amazing service from Asia, it was a good time! The interior is warm and welcoming. We had margaritas, pork belly flauta, chili relleno asada, verde chicken enchiladas and thanks to Tom, an AMAZING fried ice cream for dessert! Tom, from Flecha's national training team, really made the experience special and shared what made each dish unique to Flecha! We cannot wait for the grand opening and feel this will quickly become the go-to for happy hour, brunch, you name it. It is a Red O-level experience and we love Red-O so that's says a lot in our book! read more

I have been to this place a couple times. The regular menu is a little spendy but the food and margaritas are pretty good and the place has a good feel (and the patio is nice, I take my dogs so this is important to me). They added 9-close happy hour on Thursday night so we went last Thursday. It says on menu happy hour is served in bar and cantina. I called to make sure there's an outside area in said cantina. There is, with a TV so we could watch the Nuggets lose. When i walked in, I said we're here for happy hour (since you need to be in a designated area for happy hour, which is weird). The hostess then seats us in the regular patio area ... you have to go up the three stairs to cantina patio area to have happy hour. Does the hostess not know this? The waitress moved us. The asada fries were great, but the taquitos were overcooked. Next time, asada fries and street tacos. read more

The only reason why I didn't partake in the cereal station is because I have to pour dairy-free milk with cereal. I can't do real milk lol. Flecha, I'd love if you'd partner with a dairy-free milk company to provide that option. That's my suggestion. That would contribute to thoughtful selections. That would be AMAZING ! Aside from that... THE COOKIES! Mmmmm GOOD! I LOVED the oatmeal raisin and the chocolate chip. They tasted freshly baked. It would be awesome to have coffee or hot cocoa with the cookies. My bestie and I dropped in for a late afternoon bite on a Sunday afternoon after shopping at RH outlet - we sat a hi-top in the bar as the restaurant was not so crowded, bar had a better vibe at that hour. Tim the bartender was our server and he was awesome. Having never been we tried two of his recommendations and they were on point (Crudo appetizer & fajita Pasta). We also shared the carnitas taquitos and they were our least favorite but admittedly good. We had a really disappointing experience at Flecha. We had such great expectations and were really let down. The service was honestly terrible from start to finish. I waited over 30 minutes for a glass of rose wine while the other people at our table received theirs at least 15 minutes before me and we were halfway through our appetizer before we even got our drinks. We were only a table of 4 so this was disappointing. Throughout the meal, we constantly had to flag our server down to ask for basic things, more water, more chips, refills, and at one point she left an empty water carafe sitting on our table after refilling our glasses and we had to ask again for more water. The food was mediocre at best. To make matters worse, our dinner plates were never cleared. Dessert was brought out while all of our dirty dinner dishes were still sitting on the table, which made the whole experience feel chaotic and unprofessional. We spoke to the manager about it, hoping for some accountability or at least an effort to make things right. His response was simply, "Oh, sorry," and that was it. No real concern, no solution just a dismissive apology. When we told him that was disappointing too, there was still no follow-up. On the way out we ran into a couple who were complaining to the manager about their service (a different server) they had been told to go grab silverware off another table when they asked for silverware. For a place that presents itself as a higher end dining experience, the service and honestly food completely missed the mark. Unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

My lovely wife and I had lunch here today. Isaiah was our server and was very personable. We ordered the salsa sampler, carnitas plate and the carne asada street tacos. In my humble opinion, skip the salsa sampler. Nothing interesting here. The carne asada street tacos are small (but tasty) and are at best appetizers. The carnitas plate is a hold over from Miguel's and is enough for two people. The carnitas is cooked perfectly. The only odd thing is that they do not stock hot sauces for the tacos. I would rate this as a good Mexican-American restaurant. but nothing different from Miguel's. read more

Our first time here and we really enjoyed our experience! We went for lunch. The new decor is quite beautiful and relaxing. The darling hostess offered us a sample margarita which we didn't accept but they looked good! Anthony our waiter was a charming professional who helped us choose our entrees since there were so many great choices. My El Pastor was excellent and even the refried beans and salsas were delicious!!! Our only complaint was when you have an older crowd as was there, please consider turning down the music volume in the dining room. We are looking forward to returning! read more

The ambiance was ehhh the music was too loud with a night club vide. The furniture its was nice but the dinnerware was ugly and I felt it didn't match. The service with our waiter was like 3 stars although service was fast and a little too fast it felt like a fast food restaurant. The waiter was attentive but also felt like he was monotone the whole time. The food itself felt like a fusion with Indian food. We ordered camaron ceviche which was good but tasted like it was a curry. The green enchiladas were decent and were covered in sour cream more than Verde sauce which was disappointing. The chicken also needed seasoning, we also got carne asada fajitas that needed seasoning really badly, and they must of been out of bell peppers cause we only had barely three little slices it was basically onions and meat. The refried beens tasted like they had beer spilled in them. We honestly wouldn't come back even to try a second time which we do try to do that when going to restaurants we have never been. read more

We visited Flecha, Mark Wahlberg's restaurant, and as longtime Marky Mark fans, we were excited to check it out. We were greeted with a guava margarita--a nice touch with the perfect balance of sweet and tart. We grabbed seats at the bar, where Tim made us feel right at home with great service, chips, and salsa. We ordered Mark's Old Fashioned with the smoke upcharge (worth it) and followed his recommendation with the chicken taquitos--crispy, flavorful, and topped with fresh ingredients. It's definitely on the upscale side, but the quality, atmosphere, and service make it worth it. Can't wait to come back for happy hour... and who knows, maybe we'll spot the Funky Bunch read more

My husband and I enjoyed our first visit to Flecha! We were greeted with a welcome margarita, and it was delicious! The restaurant is beautiful inside, the atmosphere is upbeat, and it is a great upscale Mexican restaurant perfect for date night or a gathering with friends/family. The hosts were polite and asked us if we had been there before, and made us feel welcome. The manager said hello to us as well. The server, Eddie, was quick to come and offer us drinks, and share his favorites from the main menu and special menu. He guided me to the perfect margarita- the Cadillac. We ordered the goat cheese appetizer, fajitas, and an enchilada. All of the food came out at the perfect temperature and in the perfect time. For dessert we had the homemade strawberry glazed butter cake, Yum! The manager checked on our visit during the meal and was very personable. I highly recommend you give this new gem a try!
