Went to the Veranda for brunch while in San Diego and had a great time along with wonderful food. The service was amazing, and the endless cold brew is something I'll never complain about. There are great views, this is a good spot for a relaxing brunch with family or friends. One of my favorite breakfast dishes is Chilaquiles, which were phenomenal here. The meat was tender and had a lot of flavor. I tried my fiancés eggs Benedict and thought it was great as well. Look forward to trying lunch here in the future.

Five stars for this visit. At its best, the Veranda remains much too cool to waste on tourists! Patio: always love it, heaters worked great this night. Service was great too - waiter was Latino and had an unusual name - Uberto? He's been there before and was great. Cocktail: I tried a Greenpoint, which is a take on a Brooklyn, which I guess is a take on a manhattan. It was served on the rocks - it was missing at first a little something but as it got more chilled, I think it was just warm at first, which was a little strange. But I liked it. Sourdough boule: back to fabulous this time. Very yummy in every way. Market salad: always huge and enough for 2 to split for $15-ish. This time it had berries, blue cheese and some yummy dried pears. I ate up almost every morsel. Got the striped bass too, which is a good dish. I'm not going to say it's the most spectacular thing you'll ever eat - and the parsnip puree and cauliflower were a little boring - but the fish was huge and cooked well. And I enjoyed sneaking my sweetie's fingerling potatoes that came with his beef medallions instead. He enjoyed that also - he just thought that the blanket of blue cheese on the top was a little too much. Oh - and the real reason this is a 5 star visit this time in addition to the generally good food and drink & great patio? They have live music every Sat. night - and this time it was Daniel Newheiser who was a ton of fun. Often they have great vocalists doing covers of the Eagles or Olivia Rodrigo or whatever in creative ways. But Newheiser does standards - with very creative arrangements. Bio says he has a jazz degree from USC - and it was pretty darn awesome and different from the last time we heard him a few years ago. Great to come here and do outdoor dining & have great food, drink and music year round!

Wonderful! The food was delicious. The setting is just as impressive as the meal--it's hard to imagine a better view than overlooking such a beautiful golf course with its perfectly maintained, lush green fairways. Enjoying great food while taking in such stunning scenery made for a truly relaxing experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for both an excellent meal and a beautiful atmosphere.

Tasty food and great golf course views. We usually come to golf at Rancho Bernardo Inn, where Veranda is located, but decided to dine here since we were nearby. The service was friendly, and they did a fantastic job making sure our table was properly shaded and that our food was served promptly. I loved my Berry Granola Bowl and Ginger Snap Juice. My friend ordered the Beef Birria Chilaquiles and really enjoyed the flavor of the birria. I'll definitely be dining here again.

You pay for the location. This restaurant overlooks the golf course and depending on the time of day can be relaxing or you're being blasted by the sun. They do have umbrellas everywhere but choose your seat wisely. Not all of them are under an umbrella. I ordered the lobster roll and to my surprise it was actually quite large. I think when compared to a place that their main menu item is a lobster roll, this restaurant charges more. Nonetheless it was pretty good and definitely filling. Seasoning was minimal so if you think you're getting a crab boil type taste, you're not. It came with fries which honestly aren't needed but they are nice to have. I also had the crème brûlée which never disappoints. I was there at quite a busy time with a somewhat larger group so service wasn't the quickest but it was complaint worthy. Staff is pretty accommodating to requests. The entire group didn't really have any complaints about the food. The 3 is based on price and being a little uncomfortable in the hot sun. We wouldn't mind going back.

Met for lunch with my dear friend who was in town for a work conference. It was a beautiful day for outdoor dining. We had reservations for 11:30am. We were too busy yapping so our poor server had to come back a few times before we finally placed our lunch order. We shared the Crab Cake, Brussels sprouts and Margherita Flatbread. He had a beer. It felt like sauce with a side of crab cake. Brussels sprouts were tasty, they came with a generous amount of lardons. Flatbread was a little too tomatoey for me, needed more basil and not crisp enough. Overall our meal was sufficient. I wouldn't come to dine if he wasn't a staying here.

The food, service and ambience were all excellent! I will come be back my family. We went after work with my colleagues and had a lovely time. The view of the golf course was lovely. The sunset really was a vibe. They had live music as well. Just a great experience all around.

A favorite restaurant with my family. It was a sweltering day, but we had a beautiful dinner at night with perfect temperature on the patio. Live music playing in a picturesque setting. Service is always great, too! But the full menu has gorgeous seafood and steak selections. New chef, was last at Chateau Marmont in Hollywood and with Brian Malarkey! VERY vegan and vegetarian friendly! Also posting the summer specials, and we had several of the summer drink specials!! One more day at the special price. (The specials are posted on a board just inside the restaurant door). Try the Hugo, for sure!

I probably single handedly have brought 50-60 people here on my own over the years! I love it!

Was looking for a quiet place to catch up on my Advent reading... Enter... Veranda bar and grill. The bar was crazy busy on the 3rd Saturday of Advent but as if God or my guardian angel reserved a booth for me, I came upon a perfectly empty booth with a view of a Christmas tree and outside towards the patio. I had a $10 happy hour gin+lemon+ honey and a portion of delicious hummus, eggplant and warm pita for $5 happy hour price. They had problems with falling platters and slipping workers in my area; which of course I can't take my safety and RBI /JCResorts corporate hat off ( even though I dont work there anymore) but I promptly investigated and let the employees know I found the source of the perpetually slick floor... The water catcher under the water dispenser was full and overflowing each time someone served themselves. I'm glad they took my observation seriously and addressed it After my small meal, I headed to the patio and enjoyed live music as I lounged and read some more Nice to find a bit of peace during the Great silence of Advent. I also enjoyed the history of RBI wall near check in. Thank you to the Colachis family, especially James Colachis of JC Resorts and Mrs Colachis too.

My friends and I chose the Veranda Restaurant for our annual holiday/birthday celebration in December. What an excellent choice. First of all it's located inside the Rancho Bernardo Inn. It's a beautiful property. The restaurant is a fireside lounge so there is a huge fireplace on the patio. Our group sat in the patio section. There is indoor seating as well. The servers and hostess were very welcoming and attentive. The menu was very diverse and food was absolutely delicious. We had two people with birthdays and they were each given a complimentary slice of chocolate raspberry cake. It was very good. There was live jazz music which added to the ambience. Think Kenny G. There is also a Veranda full bar on the premises as well. Excellent for big groups. I will definitely be back.

We had reservations, so no wait. Paid for valet, free parking lot was pretty full (went on a Saturday). Food was okay. Had steak and eggs, lobster roll and cast iron cinnamon roll. I felt our waitress was prejudiced against me and my friend. She asked if we were guests/had a room, I said no. She said "don't put it as a room charge." As if she thought we were going to dine and dash. Her demeanor changed when she saw my AmEx. Was considering this venue for an event. But it wouldn't be the place for me.

We sat at an outdoor table with a great view of the golf course, and there were plenty of umbrellas for shade. Service was good. I ordered the Beef Birria Chilaquiles. It was a good portion size and pretty tasty overall.

Overall I'd rate our experience 3.5 stars. The pros: - a beautiful ambiance with all the patio seats overlooking the green golf course. The patio is pretty large with plenty of tables and chairs. They also have heaters and shades. - food selection was good for a Sunday brunch and all our food was fresh and tasty. Typical hotel prices but we left full. - free self-parking but on a Sunday morning, it was full (probably from everyone coming to golf) and we had to wait for a spot and it was pretty far from the entrance of the restaurant. The biggest con and the reason for knocking off 2 stars: - the service was terrible: we sat down and waited 10 mins for our server to acknowledge us. Then she dropped off coffee and the menus and didn't show up for another 20 minutes. Then we ordered our food and it took another 20-25 mins to come out. When we were ready to leave, we could not find our server and when we asked a busboy if we can get our check, he said we'd have to ask our server. Well DUH...but if we can't find our server, what are we supposed to do? If you're in a rush or hungry, you have been warned the service is very slow here. I'd consider returning but management really needs to work on providing better and more efficient service.

The staff was very warm and welcoming, though throughout the evening it definitely felt like they may have been short staffed and stretched a bit thin. We tried the Fried Shishito Peppers, Veggie Potstickers, Grilled Broccolini, Rosemary Garlic Fries, Whipped Burrata, Garlic Noodles, Salmon Poke Tacos, and Lamb Chops. Overall, the food was decent but nothing especially memorable. The lamb chops were cooked nicely but could have used more seasoning, and the poke tacos were tasty but tiny -- literally about the size of my pinky for each taco. We were disappointed they had sold out of both the Crème Brûlée Bread Pudding and the Budino, which were the desserts we originally wanted to try. Thankfully, the Butter Toffee Cake completely saved dessert for us -- absolutely delicious and easily the highlight of the meal. Overall, a cute spot with good vibes for a girls night, but the food itself didn't quite live up to the hype for us.

I'm glad this place gives me the space to do that. I want to go back to try different dishes and wines, browse the shops, and save room for dessert! Perhaps I will come on a Friday since they have a farmer's market that day from 9am-1 pm! I had a date night and went on a Saturday, 2 hours before closing. We ordered Calabrese Pizza, Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza, Parmesan Fries, and Rigatoni & Vodka Sauce Pasta. My goodness, everything was GOOD! The Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza was my favorite, pure perfection of flavors. I know there's always a debate with pineapple on pizza but this apple and gorgonzola makes sense, I don't think anyone would ever question it. The parmesan fries was so yummy as well, you get a HEFTY amount. We actually didn't finish a good amount and took this home along with a few slices of pizza. Pasta was delicious as well, there was leftover pasta sauce that we just scooped up with the crust of the pizza. The ambience - amazing and beautiful. It is pretty spread out. I've only been here a couple times but I was able to find a table both times aside from the good amount of people the times I've came. We sat inside the tasting room and the food came out promptly. I do love that on hot days they will turn their misters on, great touch Way to keep us cool! We decided to do the Traditional Wine Tasting where you get six 1.5 oz pours of your choice for $32. Also, you can get free chocolate to pair with your wine at the dessert shop. Delicious, everything I ordered was what I needed. Everyone here just seems incredibly nice. From the people who took your order at the Kitchen, food runners, pourers, even the lady at the dessert shop (even though we didn't get any dessert lol) was friendly. We wanted to get dessert, but we had 15 minutes left till closing, however she didn't rush us out the outside area. I saw that there was a sugar free pistachio gelato flavor. I love that, seems like it was a hit because it was nearly all out! Next time I do go, I definitely want to try that and their cannolis!!! I love Cannolis. Anyways, back to the wine tasting, I believe her name is Cecilia (?), She was great. Great service along with the other pourer at the counter. I did not catch her name but she has blonde short hair and was very nice and friendly as well! Overall, 10/10, & I will be back very soon.
