Okay this spot is super fun to go to. They have it decorated for Christmas so it's really fun and beautiful. They have various shops as well as vendors who come and set up shop. Everyone is super friendly. The tasting room as a nice old school classical leather couch, dark wood vibe to it. Only thing missing is a fire place. There is a stray cat that roams the tasting room so beware if you are allergic. Ale is the gentleman who helped us with our tasting about $70 including tip for 2 people. 6 wines of your choice. If you and your friend/family aren't too squeamish about germs then you can taste almost everything they have. The tasting doesn't include ports Ale was great, the servers have great personality and I really enjoyed talking with him. During your tasting you go across the way to the gelato spot and the lovely woman gives u a chocolate wafer pairing with each one. 30 to 70% cocoa, really nice touch. The shops are very boutique and come with that glorious boutique price we all dread. But I really like that it's something to look at and walk around while you drink your tasting. The brick oven pizza is $20. The crust was good. Food isn't mind blowing. It's not fancy at all, it's served in all to go containers, and the paper plates were the kind that u have the stack 4 together so it doesn't fall apart. Not saying this as a bad thing. Just saying this place is not fancy at all. There's also a coffee shop. I really wish the prices of the things in the shops weren't SOOO expensive. I could tell the stuff was collecting dust big time. $40 a bottle of wine, plus food, and then they want u to spend $100+ on Knick knacks. Kind of felt like they were trying to take advantage of people being buzzed and happy from the wine tasting. They should have jumbo table games or something else to do besides look at serverly overpriced stuff. The grounds are beautiful and it's a nice spot to have a wedding. Regardless the history is awesome, they have curated a really cute family friendly vibe. No dogs allowed, the dog I have pictured is a service dog. Id come back if someone else was going and recommended it but I am not dying to get back. Wine was good, you can tell a lot of work has gone into them over the past 100+ years. The darks are dry and the whites are oaky but light which I enjoy. I preferred their pinks. Ale definitely knows his stuff and all his favorites were my favorites as well Thanks

My husband and I have been members here for almost 3 years and have enjoyed it very much. We tend to come in the evenings and often are helped by Marilyn. She is a lovely woman who always has a smile on her face and remembers our conversation from the last visit. I enjoy coming in and talking to her. It just makes our time there even better. Our go to winter favorites are the mulled wine paired with the Vince's salad and apple and Gorgonzola pizza. We enjoy it the crisp nights sitting under the cozy lights and tower heaters. We're looking forward to Holiday nights next month and spending time with our family and friends at our favorite winery. Definitely check out this lovely gem nestled in the heart of RB. You won't be disappointed!

Always beautiful scenery. You can grab your glass of wine and wander through the shops or sit and grab a bite to eat and one of the many tables and seating areas located around the winery. The Sunday we went there was a sort of craft fair going on so there were lots of neat places where you could buy everything from cookies to homemade trinkets and gifts. Great shopping for the holidays! It was pretty busy and the lots were full but we were able to find some near by street parking. I bought a glass of bubbly which was good but somehow there ended up being a charge for $30 on my credit card. I left a decent tip but did not think more than the glass of bubbly itself. It was busy and unfortunately I did not see until we had been home. The staff was nice though, talkative and very helpful. They also had wood fired pizza and some pastas avail for purchase. Great place to sit and unwind for a bit, even when crowded it is somehow tranquil and peaceful.

A great place to celebrate a bachelorette party! We reserved the dining room and got there early 11am on a Saturday. FOOD We got the lasagna, cheese plate, house salad and margarita pizza all to share. SERVICE you order at the building next door and they bring the food to your table. We didn't feel rushed which was nice PARKING I got street parking but others parked in the dedicated lot.

A great local winery! There is something for everyone here. Nice food and wine and nice stores. We came to see a concert. The set up was really great for that venue and we enjoyed the wine. It was a very enjoyable experience. I look forward to coming back for other events.

Billy nation

This is one of the coolest venues in San Diego. The history is wonderful and it's still owned and run by the same family. I have been here multiple times over the years for various events and always enjoyed myself. My last visit was to see the band Billy Nation (a Billy Joel cover band). They are really good and one of the members is one of the owners and winemaker (I believe). They play all over but it was the first time I'd seen them at the winery. They set up chairs in the courtyard and you can order food and wine to enjoy during the show. The string lighting adds to the ambiance and makes you feel like you are in a truly special place. I didn't eat this time but I have in the past and enjoyed the pasta & pizza. I have also been able to find wines that I've liked over the years too! They also have adorable little shops and an ice cream & sweets shop that you can visit during regular hours and during the concerts. Definitely a fun night and I will always come back.

Apple Gorgonzola pizza, Tomato soup

This is a beautiful winery, decorated like a classy version of the old west. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The pizza and tomato soup were both delicious. We also had a wine tasting of course, and sat on the lovely patio. A bit pricy, but fairly expected for this sort of venue. I went to celebrate a friend's birthday, and we had a lovely time. You can take your food and wine to any of the seating areas you'd like on the property that suits you, and there is no shortage of pretty places to sit.

First time here and let me tell you worth the drive! Beautiful and charming winery hidden in a neighborhood! The ambience was absolutely stunning rustic atmosphere! Fantastic service by all! Not only it's a winery which is is very good, also has a delicious restaurant, dessert bar and coffee shop! Cute boutique and art shops. The museum is free and loads of history how this winery came about. Very relaxing atmosphere with lots to explore!

Bernardo Winery Kitchen for lunch

Aloha all! It was a warm afternoon and my Sis and I made a trek out to Bernardo Winery for lunch and some quality time together. We dropped in to have lunch at the Bernardo Winery Kitchen and the food, drink and service there was excellent. We ordered a BW Salad with Salmon and a Chicken Pesto Pizza. The salad with its mixed greens, candied walnuts, goat cheese, red onions, roasted tomato and vinaigrette was perfect with the side of salmon we requested. It was a meal in itself for two. Sis wanted me to try the Chicken Pesto Pizza she ordered on her previous visit and I was happy I had a chance to try it although we ended up taking half of it home. All ingredients were fresh and delicious and the crisp and refreshing glasses of Chardonnay 2024 paired well with our meal. There are a couple of retail shops that were open and we strolled the meandering pathways past them and the neighboring vineyards. We ended our walk at a quaint little gelato/candy store for two cups of cool, sweet and tangy scoops of Strawberry Mojito and Mango Gelato. Bernardo Winery was the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy a wonderful afternoon together.

My son recommended a visit to this winery while we were in San Diego for the weekend. We decided to stop by on our way back to LA. The winery has a very relaxed and serene ambiance, similar to a quaint country town. You can order your wine and walk around, enjoying food in the sun amidst the beautiful green surroundings. If you're looking for a place to enjoy wine and escape the city for a day, this is a place you should consider visiting.

Gabi A.

Loved the vibe, loved the food, loved the wine!! We did flights of 6 different flavors and they were all great. Also all the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Will be back for more! Great for celebrations, group outings, or dates.

It had been about five years since our last visit to Bernardo Winery, and things have definitely changed! We started with a wine tasting in the tasting room where Alex helped us out. He was friendly and knowledgeable, which made the experience enjoyable. The wines themselves were... okay. Decent, but honestly nothing that really stood out. The restaurant is now owned by the winery, and the ordering system has shifted to a more casual setup where you order at the counter, get a number, and they bring the food out to you. We tried two pizzas ( you can't do substitutions) and truffle fries, which were also just decent. Not bad, but not necessarily memorable. The true standout of the day, though, was the grounds. The property is absolutely beautiful. lush, peaceful, and perfect for strolling around with a glass of wine in hand. Even with the changes over the years, the charm of the winery's setting is still there and may be the main reason to visit. TLDR : If you're coming for an incredible meal or exceptional wine, you might be underwhelmed. But if you want a lovely afternoon in a gorgeous setting with a friend, Bernardo Winery still delivers.

Marie F.

This was my first visit to Bernardo Winery and I loved everything about it. The property is gorgeous and if full of beautiful plants that provided plenty of shade. We ordered seven flights and became novice wine connoisseurs as we sipped and swirled our afternoon away. We were also given chocolate that best complements each wine flight we ordered. Unfortunately, I forgot our sommelier's name... but she was friendly, gave good recommendations, and full of interesting facts! For lunch, we ate salads, pastas, pizza and a charcuterie boards from their on-site restaurant. After lunch, we enjoyed our gelato while we walked around visiting the vineyard and the cute boutiques. Before leaving, we stopped at their cafe to kill whatever wine buzz we still had. Bernardo Winery has good wine, good food, good gelato and good coffee! If only I could live in the nearby neighborhoods.

The food is just as impressive, everything tasted flavorful and high quality. The service was also top notch! We hosted a wine tasting and bites event here for our alumni group and it ended up being one of our favorite events we've done. This family-owned, boutique winery has created a rustic tasting experience on their outdoor patio overlooking the vineyards and surrounding hillsides. It seemed like most of the patronage were regulars. It's very dog, friendly, however, the dogs ran all over the place and begged at each table for anybody that had food. I'm fine with dogs but owners need to keep them in line just like when bringing your children to a winery. Charcuterie trays were available for purchase ($18) and made a nice accompaniment to the wines. There was live music during our visit which was a nice addition to the ambiance. WINES: Owners/winemakers, Ron & Kelly Bas, have been in the wine-making business for over 20 years and were wonderful hosts. Their estate grape varietals include Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. They also purchase Cab Franc, Merlot, and other varietals. They are currently pouring 2022/2023 vintages of their reds. IMO, the wines were on the lighter side for our palates and seemed to already have some age to them. We were fortunate to taste Ron's soon to be released Viognier, which was excellent. Overall, a nice experience, but I could have done without all the dog commotion.

The only positive is the indoor playground. Everything else from customer service to the baking activity was a complete letdown. The front desk staff was extremely rude to multiple guests while checking waivers (who gave us feedback afterwards). Instead of welcoming families, they acted irritated and dismissive. From that moment on, it felt like they were more focused on catching us break rules than providing even basic customer service. We paid $17 per child for 20 kids for the baking activity, and it was terrible. Several parents shared that the staff told children to "stand still or you won't get your cake pop" . Only two parents were allowed inside to supervise 20 kids. All kids were crammed around one table despite several empty tables sitting unused in kitchen. Kids were shoulder-to-shoulder while staff watched sternly. My daughter even said it was the "worst birthday ever," which was heartbreaking. On top of the $500+ facility fee and $340 baking charges, we agreed on $150 cleaning fee because we decided to bring outside food. We were provided only (1) table for food, and when we asked for additional tables for food and kids art, we were told they "didn't have any." They suggested placing the kids' artwork right next to the food. The nickel-and-diming continued nonstop... In addition, we paid: $20 each for two toddlers who stayed in the playground $50 extra for five adults (we exceeded the capacity of 40 guests) We had to push our guests out (it was embarassing!!) since we were told we would be charged $50 per 10 minutes if we went over the extremely tight 10-minute cleanup window. They do not allow decor on wall or even outside balloons, which is absurd for a kids' party venue. They sell the decorations in house though. By the end, I felt like we spent the entire party being watched, policed, and corrected rather than supported. Staff members hovered pointing out "rules" instead of helping create a good experience for the kids. BOTTOM LINE: The playground may look fun, but the staff, policies, and overall experience are terrible. Save yourself the headache, frustration, and unnecessary fees. Book your party somewhere else!!
