Speckle rock has a really unique setup and is built on the side of the mountain overlooking the Escondido farm land and the mountains surrounding the nearby wild animal park. They have a decent selection of wines but only have food options from local food trucks. The winery is further down the road than most places in the area so I would recommend making this an earlier stop (and be sure to call ahead for a reservation) if you are looking to stop by multiple wineries in the area.

Come for the wonderful wine. Stay for the wonderful view!

This is such a great winery. They are the last winery on the drive through the Highland Valley region, but definitely worth seeking out. The service is super friendly and very knowledgeable about the wines they are pouring. Once you have your wine, head outside for the best view of valley ever! It's an absolutely breathtaking view. The wines that I've tried have all been outstanding, so when I visit it's actually a little hard to pick, but my favorites are the Sangiovese/Merlot blend, and their Celebration blend. Whatever you choose though is going to be excellent. So visit for the amazing wine, stay for the amazing view!

It's been a while since we've been back and we came this time with a birthday party of about 20 folks. Since we got there pretty close to open we were able to get a few tables together easily for our group. You order at the counter and get your drink which was nice for a big group so you don't have to worry about split checks. The views here have still got to be some of the best in the region. All of the outdoor seating has a view. Pretty limited indoor seating. We brought our pup and they were so friendly. They had water bowls and snacks available. For wine I tried a red blend and a Pinot noir before committing to a glass of the red blend. They have mostly reds but they are apparently known for their white falanghina. They also had a wine cocktail and sangria available if you like sweeter drinks.

Speckle Rock Vineyards is a winery located in the Escondido area of northern San Diego. They offer tasting rooms, vineyard tours, and even host weddings! We stopped by for their tasting which was 4 wines for $20. The good thing was that we could choose which wines we wanted to try from their list of offerings. Of the ones that I chose my favorites were the falanghina and the sauvignon blanc. After we got our tasting pours, we sat in the back and soaked in the amazing views of the canyon. There was plenty of space and tables in the back to host big parties. When we were here there was also a food vendor and live music. We had a great time relaxing with some wine and taking in the views. There are plenty of wineries in this area but this one is a good place to check out.

Great experience! Such a cute little mom and pop vibe type of place. Tomi was super helpful and knowledgeable. This place offers blankets for you during cold winter nights and let me tell you, at first I was hesitant and declined but then we ended up getting one and let me say, it was a must and made the night more enjoyable while gazing over the hillsides and looking at the stars. The biggest take away, I found a new wine that has become my all time favorite. Lynage is a port wine with hints of brown sugar, smoky maple and sea salt caramel notes. I can't wait to return for their live music and definitely need to come earlier as we came within the hour they were closing.

One of our go to if not our favorite winery in Escondido. They have a large seating area for both large and small groups. In the shade and in the sun. They don't serve food but you're allowed to bring in your own.. Sometimes they have food trucks outside - but these days it's more rare. On Saturdays they usually have live music (a one man band) Their selection of reds is great. The: - Signature Blend - Estate Petite syrah - Tempranillo Are some my favorites. They also offer wine slushies for those hot summer days. They have lots of parking throughout their property. The staff is friendly and helpful. You do have to check in before walking over to a table. And, one of the staff members will direct you to a table.

Breathtaking views. Feels miles away from all the hustle bustle

Everyone that knows me in non- Yelp world knows that I HATE DRIVING. And this drive up is a bit twisty turny , but totally worth it. This family-run spot used to be an avocado farm, but after the fires, they turned it into a peaceful vineyard retreat. (Although, they still have some avocado trees, and they give those avocados away in crates by the door. A thoughtful little parting gift as you leave.) The setting is gorgeous, dog-friendly, and super relaxing. We brought snacks from Albertsons (that's the closest grocery store) and spent the afternoon enjoying the sunshine, live acoustic music, and light, refreshing wines (including bubbles!). Some days they have a food vendor, and there are prepackaged snacks available too. They offer property tours, have a wine club, and seem to be expanding. Hopefully that means a second bathroom, since there's only one right now and it can lead to a bit of a wait. The wines are award-winning and reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. If you go, buckle up and drive safely!

Such a cute winery! So surprised this one doesn't have more reviews or is talked about as often! Went here with a group of friends and loved the views! Probably the most gorgeous of views i've seen at any of the other Escondido wineries i've been too! The seating was so comfortable and the ambience was incredible!! We had sangrias and they were lovely. Parking was scattered and a little odd but easy to find. I wish they had more restrooms but aside from that a beautiful place! The service was also very friendly and accommodating.

If you've ever wanted to feel like the star of a lifestyle blog that never made it past three posts, Speckle Rock Winery is the place. Tucked away in the hills like a wine-loving fairy tale, this spot brings the vibes, the views, and the vino--all wrapped in a warm, slightly sun-kissed hug. Let's start with the scenery: it's giving peaceful Instagram-worthy panorama with a side of "maybe I'll move to a vineyard and write a book." The patio is where it's at--sipping a chilled white while soaking in rolling hills and acting like you understand soil composition. The wine? A strong yes. From crisp and clean to bold and sassy, there's something for every personality type--from casual sipper to full-blown cork-sniffing connoisseur. You'll say things like "ooh, that's nice" and then immediately forget what you ordered--but it doesn't matter. It's all good. The crowd? A mix of laid-back locals and weekend warriors, all vibing together like one big happy grape-loving family. Bonus points if you bring a dog or wear a wide-brimmed hat--you'll blend right in. The staff? Friendly, fun, and totally willing to play along when you pretend you know what "minerality" means.

Loved it! We visited Speckle Rock at opening on weekday... so very empty! We sat on the patio, enjoying the video and calm quiet. We were greeted in the parking lot by the owners cute dog! We enjoyed every wine we tried in our tasting. Winners all around! I recommend visiting Speckle Rock, and know I will be returning!

Beautiful views from this winery! We had a big birthday party and we were able to reserve tables for our group through their website. Emails communication was prompt and everything was set up for us when we arrived. Our group love their sparkling white wine, the Falanghina white, the Sangiovese, and their Celebrations red blend. Since we had a big group, we bought bottles to share instead of doing their white tastings. Service was spectacular too! We will definitely be back!

What a terrific winery to be members of! Not only are the wine ls amazing, their pick-up parties are such a good time and you also get a winery tour with your membership!. We finally took our first winery tour yesterday and this vineyard is MUCH more than meets the eye! The plans they have for the future are incredible and we can't wait to volunteer for the upcoming wine stomp - git on up here!

The view!

What a find! We wanted to try a new winery on Highland Valley Rd. and drove further from 15. It was well worth another few minutes drive passing other popular wineries in the area. It's one of a few wineries that are open after 6:00 on the weekends on Highland Valley. The 180 degree valley view was spectacular! It was calming and relaxing although this might not be the place for those who would want the vineyard view. The rock was definitely unique. Plenty of seating facing the view. Lots of parking, Picnic area. Outside food seems to be allowed. To me, this winery had one of the most decent and drinkable wines among others in the area so far. The white wine, Falanghina, was sweet and good, no wonder it received Double Gold. We loved it! Other wines we tasted in the tasting were all good. Their tasting is $20 for 4 tastings, generously poured. After the first visit, Speckle Rock was added to the list of our favorite vineyards in Escondido/Highland Valley. We'll be back!

Amazing views and wine. Great service and dog friendly. I used my Groupon with no problem.read more

Such a beautiful view that even teenage boys will stop and appreciate it!…read more I found a great deal on Groupon that included four glasses of wine and a charcuterie board, enough for four people. It was the perfect way to sample their wines while enjoying the scenery. We also ordered two pizzas: the Sunshine Cheese Delight and the Sunshine Meat Lover. Both were good and hit the spot. We added a large bag of Stellar Pretzel to share, and for dessert (because I absolutely have a sweet tooth), we tried the Sunshine Double Chocolate Cake and Tiramisu. I prefer sweeter wines and ordered the Rosa and Riesling , both were great and exactly what I was hoping for. A couple things to note: I had read in other reviews that there were servers, but when we visited, we ordered inside, were given a buzzer, and picked up our food ourselves. It was also pretty cold outside, and it took some time for the staff to turn on the warmers. We came on a Sunday and learned that live music starts at 3 PM. My husband and I definitely plan to come back for a date when there's live music playing. We were able to park near the top by the tasting room, which was convenient. There's also seating below near a beautiful waterfall and koi pond , it's a bit of a walk down (and back up). Overall, such a scenic spot with good food, sweet wine options, and a relaxing atmosphere. We'll be back!

We had specifically joined the wine club because we really enjoyed their white wines, which is unusual for us as we're more "big red" drinkers. However, on this visit the tastings were primarily reds. We were told that they will be releasing a few more whites as we get closer to summer. Their large patio, with umbrella/roof-covered tables, offers beautiful vineyard and surrounding mountain views. They also have live music, but it's best to check their website calendar as to who/when. WINES: We shared a Red and Reserve flight, but we did ask to try the new 2024 Estate Mélange Blanc (58% Pinot Gris, 42% Viognier) which was one of our favorites. The wines are well-made, and they offer a nice selection of varietals, so you should be able to find something you like. We brought in some hummus & pita bread to munch on during our tasting, but they do sell a few snack items as well. We ordered two 4oz Beehive Cheese blocks ($8.50/ea.), which were a nice addition to the tastings. If you haven't been here before, I recommend you give them a try. They do take walk-ins, but reservations are recommended.

We easily found parking in their complimentary lot. Ambiance (4.5/5): This is one of the things that make wineries great... the scenic views. While they have a tasting room inside, your best option is to sit outside on the small yet charming patio. The best part is that you'll enjoy the mountains in the background as you sip on your vino. Service (4.5/5): We ordered a bottle of wine about 10 minutes before close. One of the owners was nice enough to allow us to stay outside on the patio way past closing time. He said we could stay as long as we wanted. That's the type of service you rarely see at drinking holes these days. Food (N/A): They had various snacks to purchase and you can also add chocolates with wine flights but we were on a liquid diet. Drinks (4/5): If you're interested in doing a wine tasting, they have both a red and white option. The prices are affordable (especially by California standards) for both flights and if you'd like to purchase bottles of wine for enjoying there or to take home. I did the red flight. They serve it to you on a cutting board of sorts with a piece of paper giving you a short description of each wine. From there, we had a bottle of sauvignon blanc. I didn't take any wine home, but you can get a discount if you buy in bulk. One last thing that made Belle Marie an awesome winery is that it was one of the few open on a Tuesday in the area. A lot of them are open on the weekends only or Wednesday-Sunday or Thursday-Sunday. Belle Marie delivered on the only day we could stop by. For that, I'm grateful!
