This is a gorgeous location. If you park at the bottom, just know that there are two flights of stairs youll have to walk. There is limited parking by the tasting room, so wish you luck. Regardless, the place is scenic and comfortable. Attended a retirement party, which allowed the host to bring their own food as long as there was bottles purchased. The band was awesome - talented and engaging. I appreciated the experience and had a wonderful time

Beautiful place and wonderful ambience. Tasty wine and delish cheese and fruit board. Service was fast and friendly! I would love to come again. On Saturday's they have live music after 3. We were leaving as they were setting up. Next time I can't wait to hear some tunes!

Beautiful view, plenty of parking, good wine and beautiful grounds!! Live music was great and friendly staff. They have charcuterie boards but they allow you to bring your own food and cake. Great place for a get together!

wine and charcuterie board (3-5 people a serving) and was a good potion for the four of us!

Such a wonderful day spent here at Sunshine Mountain Vineyard! Not only was the view stunning and the weather perfect, but the ambiance was just amazing. The service was friendly and attentive. We had purchased a groupon several days before and easily redeemed it. The wine was tasty and our charcuterie board was delicious. We ordered the hawaiian pizza to share and it was good, nothing incredible though. The tables with the glass encased for the fire pit were a little odd so we opted to sit at a stone table, but I think we would have preferred a different seating set up. My only suggestion would be to have different seating options. The live music was an unexpected surprise, and the people who all came were super friendly. The vibes were definitely there! Super great opportunities for photos. We found parking easily at 2pm but noticed when we were leaving closer to 5:30 that it was harder for people to find parking. Would highly recommend to any visitor or SD local!

Absolutely love this little vineyard! A hidden secret in San Marcos that transports you to a European style winery. Tons of seating so it never feels too crowded although during the week is best to have little to no wait. Watching the sunset is always stunning as it overlooks the mountains. The wine is excellent and the staff is friendly! We tried the cheese pizza it was okay, but we were there for the wine. :)

Amazing little hill top winery! The winery it self is very nice and clean and well decorated. The staff was an absolute pleasure and knowledgeable about the wines. The only fallback is the seating outside was not comfortable. And in my opinion dogs shouldn't be allowed due to the landmines in the grass were gross. And the dogs Barking back and forth was a-little annoying. Just my opinion. Cheers PS: the pizza is dry and over priced for what it is.

Despite coming in a gloomy day, I'm so glad I made a stop before heading back home here. The prices were reasonable, the wine was good, and there is live music! Not to mention they have charcuterie boards, pizza, and plenty of fire pits to keep you warm. Great service, and I can't wait to visit again on a clearer day.

My friend and i had a pleasant afternoon in the Sunshine Mountain Vineyard. We both got a Groupon for 2 glasses of wine and charcuterie board. Super deal, the cheese board was more then enough for 2 people, cheeses were just ok, no aged gouda or brie. More like cubed cheddar and pepper jack cheese mixed with fruits and olives. We also ordered flat breads and pizza which i actually enjoyed much more ! Winery has a nice peaceful setting and ambiance, its mainly all outdoors with heaters and tents. it does get very windy and chilly, because of the location. Red zin and rose were two wines that definitely were the highlights from the rest that we tasted. We will be back again soon to enjoy the views and the wine

The views here are so beautiful!! They also had live music so it made our experience even better. Out of the list of wines they have, you can have two tastings for free and then buy a glass of wine or a bottle. I have to say that the wines are not to die for but we opted to get the dry rose and later on got the Syrah. Dogs are welcome and you can bring your own food so that's a plus!

I understand that some locals might not like the wine because Sunshine mountain winery actually make wine closer to what you'd find in Europe (less sweet than most of US produced wine). I am from France and they are really close to some nice Bordeaux and their syrah is amazing. It's my mom's favorite winery. She'll go every (opened) day when she visits the US. Not only the wine is excellent, service exceptionally friendly, the view is amazing (inland), sunshine mountain winery offers some of the best membership deal: free membership (you only need to purchase 4 bottles every quarter) and two free glasses of wine a day. Highly recommended!

This was my first time at this winery. It is tucked in the hills of San Marcos. It has the most beautiful view to enjoy your glass of wine with. I didn't order any food however a group of women next to me ordered a flatbread that looked delicious. I will have to come back and give their food a try. Adrian was my server today and he gave great recommendations on wines relating to what I normally enjoy. I will have to come back soon.

Really great customer service. Limited parking but you can walk up lots of stairs if needed. If stairs are tough for you have someone drop you right in front. Great selection of wines for both white and red drinkers. The view was beautiful.

Stalest crackers out there & very mediocre wine

Ask the Community - Sunshine Mountain Vineyard

Is it open to the public and can a couple just stop by to order a pizza and a couple of glasses of wine?

Absolutely! It's a perfect date night place. Check website when live music is playing. Cheers!

When do they have live music?

    live music on the weekends

Do they take reservations? Trying to get one for a group of around 20 people for a birthday.

Are there charcuterie boards on the menu?

Good place for small birthday party?

Sure. Plenty of outdoor covered seating with a view. Less indoors.

    Is this patio dog friendly?

Absolutely...there are a couple different outdoor seating areas...the lower seating area has some grass and games. Doggos would love it.

    Yes you can.

    Is this place kid friendly?

Yes it is...and there is ample space outside for them to run around.

Would they be able to host a wedding?

Absolutely...this place has lots of outside areas for people to gather. They have 3 wine caves ... one was used solely for private parties. However, if you're having a huge wedding...it may be too small.

Can I bring my well behaved dog?

Yes! It's actually a wonderful family place and the setting is so peaceful and beautiful. They are fine if you bring a picnic too!

No appointments. Just drop in. Call ahead to see if they have any events going on. First time we went it was closed for a special event.

There were at least six guests who requested vegan meals and were served a simple curry over rice. The salad was not vegan, the dessert was not vegan, and even the vegetables were cooked in butter, making them unsuitable as well. Meanwhile, other guests had multiple dish options to choose from. For such a high end wedding venue, the lack of consideration for dietary restrictions was extremely disappointing. The food overall felt like the weakest part of an otherwise beautiful experience, and it is the only reason I would hesitate to recommend this venue.

Fantastic let's do that. In the mean time feel free to use the pool, bathroom on the left to change. Went the pool. Two pools, not huge but has a little bar. The pool wasn't crowded but we struggled to find a chair that wasn't reserved with a towel; we spotted 1 empty chair under an umbrell, as we approached a young gentleman grabbed the chair at took it across the pool to the umbrella his family was under. Lol. Okay. We just sat our things on the concrete under the umbrella hoping it wouldn't be long and enjoyed the pool. After checking a couple times and our encounter with the OTHER, older front desk lady; our room was ready at 4. That's check in time. The room was large and pretty nice; we did notice the floors were a bit "damp". The little patio with the chairs and view, very nice. We were able to hear the live music coming from marina bar as we were sitting outside of our room taking in the view. We took out a paddle boat that was complimentary at check in. The lake itself is very nice, pretty peaceful considering it sits smack-dab in the middle of a neighborhood. What makes my review a 3.8 isnt the accommodation. Recommended. I got here at 7:15 pm with the intention of leaving at 8:00 pm as I understand that's their closing time. Server told us they closed at 8pm, but patrons could stay up to 8:30pm. She stated she doesn't understand why "sunset is advertised online" when they are closed during summer sunset time. She seemed a bit annoyed at us, which I understood as closing time was happening soon. We left before other patrons did, prior to 8:30pm. I had no issue with that, my issue was with the way she spoke to my partner. As we were closing out she said we could not get a new glass, but could get topped off. My boyfriend asked if she could top off his glass, and she said something along the lines of "look at you using a new vocab word, you were paying attention to what I said". I'm not one who gets offended easily, but that comment came across as patronizing to me. Perhaps that wasn't her intention, but it was how it was perceived. Such a shame. I'm glad this place gives me the space to do that. I want to go back to try different dishes and wines, browse the shops, and save room for dessert! Perhaps I will come on a Friday since they have a farmer's market that day from 9am-1 pm! I had a date night and went on a Saturday, 2 hours before closing. We ordered Calabrese Pizza, Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza, Parmesan Fries, and Rigatoni & Vodka Sauce Pasta. My goodness, everything was GOOD! The Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza was my favorite, pure perfection of flavors. I know there's always a debate with pineapple on pizza but this apple and gorgonzola makes sense, I don't think anyone would ever question it. The parmesan fries was so yummy as well, you get a HEFTY amount. We actually didn't finish a good amount and took this home along with a few slices of pizza. Pasta was delicious as well, there was leftover pasta sauce that we just scooped up with the crust of the pizza. The ambience - amazing and beautiful. It is pretty spread out. I've only been here a couple times but I was able to find a table both times aside from the good amount of people the times I've came. We sat inside the tasting room and the food came out promptly. I do love that on hot days they will turn their misters on, great touch Way to keep us cool! We decided to do the Traditional Wine Tasting where you get six 1.5 oz pours of your choice for $32. Also, you can get free chocolate to pair with your wine at the dessert shop. Delicious, everything I ordered was what I needed. Everyone here just seems incredibly nice. From the people who took your order at the Kitchen, food runners, pourers, even the lady at the dessert shop (even though we didn't get any dessert lol) was friendly. We wanted to get dessert, but we had 15 minutes left till closing, however she didn't rush us out the outside area. I saw that there was a sugar free pistachio gelato flavor. I love that, seems like it was a hit because it was nearly all out! Next time I do go, I definitely want to try that and their cannolis!!! I love Cannolis. Anyways, back to the wine tasting, I believe her name is Cecilia (?), She was great. Great service along with the other pourer at the counter. I did not catch her name but she has blonde short hair and was very nice and friendly as well! Overall, 10/10, & I will be back very soon.
