We went as a group of five and wine tasted both reds and whites and had dinner. The ambiance is wonderful-- peaceful, beautiful, overlooking the vineyards and a barn. Service was very good even though our server couldn't tell us much about the vineyard and wasn't sure what varietals they grow there, so we looked it up and found it on google. The wines from the tasting were a little hit or miss. We liked two from the white tasting (one was actually a suprisingly good rose) and two from the reds. The collective favorite was the Ranch House red and I'd recommend simply ordering a glass of that rather than doing the $30 tasting flight of six. The food was also a little hit or miss. My husband found his ribeye to be the perfect temperature but overly fatty (translation, the grill was not hot enough). My father in law got the burger and felt it was excellent. The rest of us got the shrimp pasta and felt it was excellent too. Be sure to try the bread as an appetizer-- the local artisan butter will make you want to give up store-bought butter for the rest of your life. Overall, this is a great choice for a nice dinner out. There was live music playing and it made for a wonderful evening out. Ideal for a date, anniversary, or family dinner. We will definitely be back.

It was absolutely stunning and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Between the wine, the atmosphere, and the scenery, we had a wonderful time and would definitely come back.

Before lunch, the owner, Frank, welcomed our group into the wine cellar for an impromptu tasting and shared the story of how the winery came to be. It added such a personal touch and made the experience feel far more memorable than a typical restaurant visit. The setting is absolutely stunning. Perched high above the valley, the property offers sweeping views of rolling hills, vineyards, and distant mountains that seem to stretch on forever. The vine-covered terrace provides just enough shade to linger over a glass of wine while taking in the scenery. On a clear day, it feels like you've stumbled onto a little slice of Tuscany hidden in San Diego County. The food was equally enjoyable. We shared a variety of thin-crust pizzas, burrata salad, and charcuterie boards, all of which disappeared quickly. And then came the cannoli, the perfect sweet ending to an already wonderful meal. Between the breathtaking views, warm hospitality, excellent service, delicious food, and outstanding wine, this was an experience rather than just a lunch. I left already looking forward to coming back for wine and dinner.

Once I got there, the clerk informed me that I wasn't getting anything today and that I needed to play more. I was shocked. I had played just a few days earlier, and at that time they told me my card benefits were good until February. I drive quite a distance to get to this casino, so it felt like a complete waste of time and gas. My husband has a Welcome card and plays here and there, yet he never receives any comps or food offers. It's disappointing how cheap Barona has become. There's nothing about the casino that makes you want to return. I have a paycheck coming soon, but I won't be going back. If you treat people poorly, they won't return. All players should be treated equally. When I was at the Mexican restaurant trying to place my order on my last visit, I kept getting interrupted by other customers asking for water, supplies, or updates on their orders--right in the middle of mine. I asked the clerk to please continue helping me, and she eventually did. Employees should ask people to wait until they're finished assisting someone. This kind of atmosphere is exhausting. At the coffee shop, people step in front of you and order as if you're not even standing there. It's rude, and Barona allows it to happen. They seem to think that offering a free meal will make guests happy, but the food isn't good. The other day I had a burrito and felt sick afterward. Nothing I've tried there makes me want to eat at their restaurants. Some employees are great and know us, but Barona as a whole doesn't seem to care about treating everyone fairly. When things improve, maybe I'll return--and maybe I'll tell my friends to return too. Do better Barona!

There are lots of places to grab a bite or drink -- coffee, smoothies, yogurt, mexican food, argentine food, subs, sushi and pizza (you can actually watch the show while eating pizza on their patio). They show feature movies on the weekend and during the week old tv shows, cartoons, and seasonal stuff. It runs from sundown until around 10 or 11pm every day of the year. It can be a little hard to find, but if you can locate LA Fitness or Old Spaghetti Factory, you're getting warmer. It's nestled between Pizza Nova and Ryan Bros Coffee. Lots of free parking. They've also hosted the annual San Marcos Student Film Festival 2 years running, which is usually in June, and again free to the public. The only reason for the lack of 5 stars is that it is COLD in the winter, and WET when its rainy ...not that there's a real solution to that, other than a blanket and an umbrella.... Expect kids running around, outdoor noise from cars and conversation, but its all part of the fun. Did I mention its all FREE?

(The Friday movies tend to be older/more obscure). It's right in the middle of a bunch of restaurants and there's a fire pit if you get cold. Though not "pristine" movie viewing conditions, it's free and its outdoors and did I mention it's Free?. A rad way to spend a few hours some Saturday night taking in a flick. Bring your own blanket (and chair if you've got one, seating can be limited) and re-live the golden age of drive ins, that you probably weren't alive for in the first place.

There were probably 5-6 groups of people there at once and she was able to take care of everyone. My friend got the red flight for $30 and I got the mixed flight (2 whites and 2 reds of my choice) for$25. We also got the cheese platter for $18 which included 3 cheeses. An aged white Irish cheddar reserve I believe. There was also manchego and a big chunk of brie as well. There were also raspberries, grapes, mixed nuts, dried apricots, and strawberry raspberry jam on the board and warm soft naan. My friend accidentally spilled her red wine on her sweater and Simona was nice enough to take the sweater and try to get it out in the sink. It worked pretty good! It's a very laidback, super relaxing winery that is in definite contrast to a few of the bigger more boisterous places in the area. Ron and Kelly are warm and welcoming, and very knowledgeable about wine. Their property has lots of tables and chairs outside with a decent amount of shade, which for me is a must, because my Irish skin cannot tolerate the San Diego sun. They are also very dog friendly, and usually have their own dog, Jade, acting a "greeter" when you arrive. How is the wine? Very well-thought out. I've never had less than an excellent glass of their wine every time we visit. My husband and I never leave without at least one bottle every time we visit. They are definitely worth the long and windy drive to find them.

We met Mike & Roberta (owners/winemakers) at last summer's "Garagiste Wine Festival" in Glendale, CA, and thought that their 2016 Merlot was the star of the day. We're quite familiar with the wineries in north San Diego County, but we hadn't heard of Effenberger Vineyards, so we made it a goal to visit them for a private sit-down tasting experience, and to check out their property. They hold tastings downstairs in their home, which doubles as a cozy tasting area and production area. Making reservations via their website was easy and follow up communication was excellent. WINES: This boutique winery produces about 120 cases a year which is considered small. Several varietals are grown onsite, and other fruit is purchased from local growers. Mike poured the '23 Estate Bourdeau blend, '23 Cab. Franc, '23 Estate Cab. Sauvignon, '22 Montepulciano, and '21 Syrah. We had a wonderful discussion with them about their history, their wines, our wine interests, etc. After getting to know our likes/dislikes, Mike generously gave us a little extra taste of his Sagrantino (unfortunately, I forgot the vintage). We thought that everything we tasted was well made, and we purchased a couple bottles of the Cab. Franc and Montepulciano to take home with us. Overall, a fun experience with wonderful people and delicious wines. I recommend that you check them out!
