The absolute best wine and tour I've been on! Eric is passionate about his winery and his tour is entertaining and personal. The wine tasting is the best wine I've tasted (better, smoother, cleaner, and more flavorful than the Italian vineyards and other CA vineyards I've toured). Note! There is not "bar" or tasting area to sit at while waiting for the tour. Arrive when your tour starts :) we arrived early hoping for a glass of wine before. We called Eric and luckily he answered and let us join the current tour he was doing. So flexible and easy going!! After the tour there is a beautiful spot for tasking overlooking vineyards and the neighboring nursery. 5/5 hands down.

I questioned myself if we are driving to the correct place but when we finally arrived, I was so happy to hear about Eric and his expertise about wine. He has an amazing knowledge and makes you welcome in his home. The tour was great and he is fun and kind. We booked initially for two but ended taking some extra friends with us and brought our own snack for the wine tasting. He has an incredible treasure of knowledge about wine and his wine is incredible delicious. You cannot walk out without a bottle with one of his ports. The land where he grows his grapes is beautiful and we did the tour at 3 pm and tasted the wine an hour later and it was just a beautiful view. We sat at a big table and I will for sure come back and grab more wine. One of the most fun thing to do and so worth it!

My family and I came here in December and it was wonderful! The wine was the best we've ever had. Eric was so welcoming, passionate and knowledgeable. He taught us so much about wine making and the industry. His vineyard is beautiful and going right before sunset made it even better!

Best winery we have been too! Beautiful views

We were looking for something to do during our anniversary. We came across Brooking Vineyards and decided to do a wine tour. Eric is extremely helpful and knowledgable. He has a passion for wine and has mastered wine making! Hands down the best wine we've had and my wife is quite picky! Highly recommend, will definitely come back. We took home 5 bottles! They are so delicious and unlike and wines we have had. Thank you!

Its hard to choose one wine. There all great!

Eric was very informative and passionate about his work. I have tasted many wines and they all do seem to taste similar. It blow me away how different each of his wines tasted. His product is natural and free of contamination. Trust your senses, you will know its the best you ever had. Its so good only cussing could discribe how good it is. So I Say thank you beacause your wine is so Brooking good!!

I would give this vineyard a 10/10, you do not want to miss this hidden gem!! Come with time to learn! Eric is the best, kind knowledgeable and funny!! I have been on Eric's wine tour 4x and I learn something every time! This is a place for learning and the best wine around!!! Eric's wine and tour is truly unforgettable

If I could give 10 stars I would. Eric was THE BOMB DOT COM. He was so patient to educate us on his process while also being funny, kind, and passionate. We are vegan, and had no idea not all wines are even vegetarian! We deeply appreciate him taking the time to educate us all while tasting his amazing wine. My boyfriend isn't a wine drinker and even he LOVED it. Thanks again Eric. You truly are awesome! We will be back. Cheers!

Had an awesome time here! It was a fun and not pretentious wine tour (and we learned a lot)! Our favorites were the Tempranillo and the Port.

I thoroughly enjoyed the intimate tour and tasting at this vineyard. It is very evident that Mr Brookings is passionate about quality over quantity --none of his wines contain imported grapes . I am no connoisseur but as someone who has never enjoyed port, I was pleasantly surprised at how rich the flavors were. His dessert wines are not sickeningly sweet like they are known too be and I highly recommend if you are a port or Angelica fan. My boyfriend (who is the one who loves to go to vineyards) jokes that I am a teetotaler = someone who never drinks alcohol. While that's a bit exaggerated... I do drink extremely rarely and I never ever buy alcohol to bring home.. so, the fact I left with a bottle of Malbec is a testament to how good it was.

Would give seven stars if I could! The proprietor, Eric, is as good a storyteller as he he is a vintner. His knowledge of the history of winemaking in San Diego is amazing and he paints such a vivid picture of how it came to be and evolved over the centuries. Then you get to the wine! I'm certainly no wine expert but as Eric said, you should trust your senses, and I can honestly say that he introduced me to the best wine and ports, or should I say Angelica, that I have ever experienced. My only regret is that I live 2,000 miles away, but I know I'll be needing to make regular visits to stock back up. If you're anywhere near the Carlsbad area THIS IS A MUST VISIT!

I hesitate to leave this review, as I want it all for myself. Then I want to tell everyone about this winery and the perfection it produces, and how special Eric is. You won't find better for what he does - Ports, I challenge you! I guarantee Eric will be known, stay true to who you are!

    Good times with Eric!

We had an amazing time at Brooking Vineyards. We were on our way to Newport Beach to visit or favorite French bakery on Labor Day. Unbeknownst to us due to the holiday our favorite bakery was closing at 1. We were in north county part of San Diego and weren't sure what to do. My friend looked up wineries in the area and we said what the heck let's take a chance. We gave Eric a call and he was more than accommodating! We had an amazing time, great stories, and the insightful history of winery's within the San Diego area. Eric is an amazing Individual who's passion for wine is more than his job, it's his life and you can taste it in the quality of his product! I would recommend anyone to take his tour, and listen to the great stories he has. We ended up buying 3 bottles and were not disappointed.

What a gem in Vista, CA!! My girlfriend and I decided to come visit this winery and enjoy the amazing wine! Such rich local history and we couldn't be more pleased with the selections they had. Amazing hospitality and look forward to coming back!

We strolled over to the tasting room and went with a mixed tasting flight. Our server was amazing, while I do not really enjoy the more tannin mouthfeel wines and prefer the sweeter ones, my wife really enjoys the opposite of me. Our server was intent on finding something that I enjoyed, and turned me on to the wine slushy, which was refreshing, and perfect and scarily good! We also decided to eat dinner here, and we shared a Harvest Salad (Spring Mix, Apples, Dried Cranberries, Goat Cheese, Mixed Nuts, Julie's Balsamic Vinaigrette). and we split a pizza that was half Blanca (Ricotta, Mozzarella, Lemon Olive Oil, Fresh Herbs, Hot Honey, Truffle Oil), and half The Papa B (Tomato sauce, Mozzarella, Fontina, pepperoni, Jalapenos, Onions). We asked for it a little crispy, and parts of it were really sort of burnt, but 100% would order again, hold the ask for a "little crispy" next time lol. The ambiance here was nice, it is dog friendly so there were several dogs lounging around and hanging out, the tasting room has both a nice indoor bar area, with table seating all around, as well as a pretty decent sized outdoor area that has shade cover and lots of tables. They had live music outside, and it was great that it added to the ambiance, without being overpowering and not allowing for conversation. Great little place will happily revisit!

There are two parking lots that we saw, one closer to the bottom which was gravel but would require a walk up two flights of stairs, or there's a lot closer to the tasting room (paved) but is more limited. We were able to snag a spot up at the top luckily. They have a two sample limit & then you can buy drinks by the bottle or glass. The day we went they were having a 25% off bottle sale. There was only one employee we saw during the entirety of our visit but he was super friendly. We ordered a bottle, the charcuterie platter and a pizza. The charcuterie board is refrigerated and they provide a bag of crackers as well. We went with the veggie pizza & it took maybe 20 minutes to come out and was absolutely delicious. The grounds themselves are absolutely gorgeous. There are 3 covered areas to sit at up top with plenty of seating. Down the first flight of stairs has a fish pond and some beautiful areas to walk around. I'm not sure if that area was where they do weddings as there was also a spot across the way with a dais, but we didn't make it over there. The wine was delicious! We tried two of the whites and the sweet rosé. I'm not normally a rosé fan, but it was my favorite wine I had there. Overall we had a really relaxing time with beautiful views. I highly recommend checking out Sunshine Mountain Vineyard.

It was the perfect way to sample their wines while enjoying the scenery. We also ordered two pizzas: the Sunshine Cheese Delight and the Sunshine Meat Lover. Both were good and hit the spot. We added a large bag of Stellar Pretzel to share, and for dessert (because I absolutely have a sweet tooth), we tried the Sunshine Double Chocolate Cake and Tiramisu. I prefer sweeter wines and ordered the Rosa and Riesling , both were great and exactly what I was hoping for. A couple things to note: I had read in other reviews that there were servers, but when we visited, we ordered inside, were given a buzzer, and picked up our food ourselves. It was also pretty cold outside, and it took some time for the staff to turn on the warmers. We came on a Sunday and learned that live music starts at 3 PM. My husband and I definitely plan to come back for a date when there's live music playing. We were able to park near the top by the tasting room, which was convenient. There's also seating below near a beautiful waterfall and koi pond , it's a bit of a walk down (and back up). Overall, such a scenic spot with good food, sweet wine options, and a relaxing atmosphere. We'll be back!

I'm glad this place gives me the space to do that. I want to go back to try different dishes and wines, browse the shops, and save room for dessert! Perhaps I will come on a Friday since they have a farmer's market that day from 9am-1 pm! I had a date night and went on a Saturday, 2 hours before closing. We ordered Calabrese Pizza, Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza, Parmesan Fries, and Rigatoni & Vodka Sauce Pasta. My goodness, everything was GOOD! The Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza was my favorite, pure perfection of flavors. I know there's always a debate with pineapple on pizza but this apple and gorgonzola makes sense, I don't think anyone would ever question it. The parmesan fries was so yummy as well, you get a HEFTY amount. We actually didn't finish a good amount and took this home along with a few slices of pizza. Pasta was delicious as well, there was leftover pasta sauce that we just scooped up with the crust of the pizza. The ambience - amazing and beautiful. It is pretty spread out. I've only been here a couple times but I was able to find a table both times aside from the good amount of people the times I've came. We sat inside the tasting room and the food came out promptly. I do love that on hot days they will turn their misters on, great touch Way to keep us cool! We decided to do the Traditional Wine Tasting where you get six 1.5 oz pours of your choice for $32. Also, you can get free chocolate to pair with your wine at the dessert shop. Delicious, everything I ordered was what I needed. Everyone here just seems incredibly nice. From the people who took your order at the Kitchen, food runners, pourers, even the lady at the dessert shop (even though we didn't get any dessert lol) was friendly. We wanted to get dessert, but we had 15 minutes left till closing, however she didn't rush us out the outside area. I saw that there was a sugar free pistachio gelato flavor. I love that, seems like it was a hit because it was nearly all out! Next time I do go, I definitely want to try that and their cannolis!!! I love Cannolis. Anyways, back to the wine tasting, I believe her name is Cecilia (?), She was great. Great service along with the other pourer at the counter. I did not catch her name but she has blonde short hair and was very nice and friendly as well! Overall, 10/10, & I will be back very soon.
