    Walk The Line - Syrah
    Krista K.

We had been wanting to try this winery for awhile and finally made it yesterday. What a hidden gem. The wines and the property are phenomimal and our experience was fantastic. The wines are really good, smooth. We had the Syrah "Walk the Line" it was amazing. When we got home we opened up two different Syrah's from local wineries and did a blind taste test, Cheval's Syrah definatley won, hands down! We will definately be going back there. Cheers!

Super dog friendly AND human friendly. The Staff is very friendly and nice. I personally enjoy their sauvignon blank, "Melody Zapper". The winery owner is also a champion horse & alpaca owner that you get to see them in the same property. They do weekly? Or monthly? event and live performances during the weekends. Definitely one of my favorite spots to relax.

What a beautiful atmosphere! It was a gorgeous, sunny day in Escondido and the wine was good...however...the wine was SO expensive and a $15 tasting of 4 wines was a ridiculous, minuscule pour! The bottles started at $57. Everyone around us was so posh, we felt completely unwelcome. Of note, we received a warm welcome from the goats, dog, horses and lamas.

I had never heard of this winery until yesterday. We came here for the country line dancing and...wine! The winery is located in a unique location of Escondido. Driving in at night it was difficult to know exactly where we were at but that means a day trip is needed. The winery building/house/villa was beautiful with a nice big open area. The wine is very pricey. We got a bottle of Maverick and it was absolutely amazing. Smooth and silky with a nice finish. Not too fruity or peppery. The line dancing was fun to watch and maybe next time I'll jump out there. Looking forward to coming back here to try the other wines. But for now, Maverick is thumbs up and fist bumps!!

I debated writing a review because I'd like to keep this gem to myself. It is literally an 8 minute drive from my house but seems like a world away. The property is beautiful, the people are warm and inviting, views are perfect and the wine is delicious. Spent a lovely sunny afternoon tasting and then enjoyed a wonderful glass of their Cab Franc ( Bullet) . Thoroughly enjoyed my time. Hope to be back soon

Gorgeous up close shot of the vineyard!

This winery is truly a hidden gem in Northern San Diego County! We stayed at the Villa located above the wine tasting room. Beautiful 2 bedroom, 1 bath with a full kitchen and living area. Outdoor patio is equipped with a fireplace, tv, outdoor seating, and exceptional views of the vineyard. We thoroughly enjoyed being there and it was the perfect "staycation" we needed during the quarantine. Along with its amazing views and delicious wines, there are horses, alpacas, and goats on the property making this winery one of a kind! The wine is estate grown & unfiltered making it have an exceptional smooth taste. Loved our stay here at this unique place and will be back for more!!

We went to Cheval for Happy Hour after work a few weeks back and had a great time! The wine was good, we could walk around and see the animals and the line dancing was a total hit! We didn't expect to stay so long, but had a hard time leaving! The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is because the wine is pretty expensive. Their happy hour pricing isn't much of a deal and is only on a few wines (of course the wine we didn't like) and they don't give happy hour pricing on the bottles. So at about $40 a bottle for Sauv Blanc, that gets spendy.

I was really surprised to find this hidden gem not to far from home! The staff was very nice and the wine was great! The ranch is beautiful and my kids loved seeing the alpaca and horses! The line dancing crew was legit! Lots of fun! Highly recommend checking it out!

a bottle of wine and two wine glasses

My boyfriend rented the master suite above the winery for my birthday in July so this is very overdue but it was amazing! The winery itself is so beautiful during the day and night. My favorite part had to be the animals for sure. They had horses, alpacas and they were also very friendly. We truly had the most amazing time we can't wait to go back!

It is a time to slow down and enjoy time with friends, familiy or loved one's in a scenic oasis. I really enjoyed our afternoon out to Mia Marie Vineyards. It was a breezy day and we had front row views in cozy chairs overlooking the valley. We completed a tasting of reds and whites, delicious. We also ordered the charcuterie, which the wind knocked off the table but we recovered the majority of the items, lost a few heart crackers, which staff immediately cleaned up. There is a food vendor on the weekend and the cheesy bread was the best! I will conduct a seperate review for them. Live music played on the terrace and the performer played many newer acoustic songs. On the way out, I picked up a puffer vest in a rose gold color, as it was a great value. When sitting on the patio on a cool day, they also have blankets that you can cover. I hope they will carry those blankets in a logo version in the future or bring them back if they exisited before. We will have to try the swing out on our next visit. Simply a beautiful setting... Note: They are pet friendly. A young lady brought her dog out for the day just to enjoy their time together. There are two parking lots that we saw, one closer to the bottom which was gravel but would require a walk up two flights of stairs, or there's a lot closer to the tasting room (paved) but is more limited. We were able to snag a spot up at the top luckily. They have a two sample limit & then you can buy drinks by the bottle or glass. The day we went they were having a 25% off bottle sale. There was only one employee we saw during the entirety of our visit but he was super friendly. We ordered a bottle, the charcuterie platter and a pizza. The charcuterie board is refrigerated and they provide a bag of crackers as well. We went with the veggie pizza & it took maybe 20 minutes to come out and was absolutely delicious. The grounds themselves are absolutely gorgeous. There are 3 covered areas to sit at up top with plenty of seating. Down the first flight of stairs has a fish pond and some beautiful areas to walk around. I'm not sure if that area was where they do weddings as there was also a spot across the way with a dais, but we didn't make it over there. The wine was delicious! We tried two of the whites and the sweet rosé. I'm not normally a rosé fan, but it was my favorite wine I had there. Overall we had a really relaxing time with beautiful views. I highly recommend checking out Sunshine Mountain Vineyard.

We added a large bag of Stellar Pretzel to share, and for dessert (because I absolutely have a sweet tooth), we tried the Sunshine Double Chocolate Cake and Tiramisu. I prefer sweeter wines and ordered the Rosa and Riesling , both were great and exactly what I was hoping for. A couple things to note: I had read in other reviews that there were servers, but when we visited, we ordered inside, were given a buzzer, and picked up our food ourselves. It was also pretty cold outside, and it took some time for the staff to turn on the warmers. We came on a Sunday and learned that live music starts at 3 PM. My husband and I definitely plan to come back for a date when there's live music playing. We were able to park near the top by the tasting room, which was convenient. There's also seating below near a beautiful waterfall and koi pond , it's a bit of a walk down (and back up). Overall, such a scenic spot with good food, sweet wine options, and a relaxing atmosphere. We'll be back!
